Very nice food, family atmosphere, reasonable prices The staff were very friendly I felt very relaxed despite having a toddler that just wanted to run around. There were lots of children about. We came across it accidentally but will be back.

Brunch with my sister! Lovely meal out here. We arrived and got seated straight away. Staff was friendly and attentive. We both had the steak! Simply yummy! Very well cooked and delicious. I find the prices are reasonable as you get a big feed.,we will be back.

My family and I decided to go out for dinner this evening and we're more than happy to wait in the queue as we knew it would be busy. On arrival we stood in a queue for 20 minutes only to be told in a very rude manner to move away from the queue as they don't like to have such a large queue out front of their shop. We said ok we will wait in another area until the queue died down to then be told just go home and come back another day. As a family we always went to eat in here with large groups of people (30-40) 3 or 4 times a year. This business will never receive another penny off me or any of my family for the low level of service we just received.

This was our first time trying here. My hubby was happy with the range of gluten free options. He got the giganti stack and i got the rooster stack. Thankfully we didn't go for starter or dessert as we were stuffed just with mains. Beautiful beautiful food. Quick service and lots of staff to look after customers. No doubt we will be back.

Again great service, food quality great, portions appear less but are the right amount. Desserts cater for all. A great place to visit after the cinema or just to socalise.

We have visited here on a number of occasions and have never had a bad meal. Staff are friendly and efficient, making customers feel welcome in their restaurant. Food is reasonably priced and portion sizes are generous. Their burgers and steaks are what makes us return to Sugar Rays regularly.

We were seated promptly and our order taken quickly. The food arrived shortly after and we were looked after very well. The food was excellent and the whole experience was really good.

The ribs are delicious, they fall straight off the bone and only $19 (190K). We always visit sugar rays when we are sick of the local food.

Went here over the Christmas holidays and it was just ok. Main problem occurred when the waitress didn’t take our order accurately. We were left short one side and one burger had to be re cooked as we had requested items to be served separately rather than as stated on menu. It meant that one of our party started their meal later than the rest. Place was v busy so staff were under pressure, no doubt

Always a brilliant place to eat. Beef in Brisket Stack cooked to perfection, buttery champ delicious and instead of peppercorn sauce I had beef gravy - delicious combination with the tobacco onions.

Myself and my family visited sugar rays on a busy saturday night and we were blown away by the service from the waiting staff, it was really busy but they could not do enough for us. Our food was delicious and even though there was a big crowd on the night all our meals arrived well cooked and piping hot overall a great night.

Extremely enjoyed this place , I have a friend who is vegetarian and a friend who is gluten free and they were able to get food no problem with a good range selection. The food itself was amazing, the portion were the right size and was well worth the price. The staff was also very attentive and polite , they always made sure that we were ok and if we needed anything.

Wanted somewhere to call in for a quick lunch because we only had an hour. Someone had mentioned this place to me a few weeks ago, I went on their Facebook page and seen they do some good lunch deals so thought we’d give it a go! I’m so glad we did! The service was fantastic from start to finish, it was lunch time during the week so we weren’t expecting it to be mad busy but the atmosphere was just amazing! We went for meals from the lunch menu which are amazingly priced for the food you get! £9.99 for something which is usually £12-£13! We left about 45mins later stuffed and very satisfied!! I can’t wait to bring the kids here at Halloween !!

Came out the other week for a Friday night treat and I have to say it was absolutely fabulous!! It was quite busy but we were seated as soon as possible and our waitress was quick to get us our drinks and take our order which was brilliant and she was very friendly and offered the kids colouring sheets whilst they waited!! Our food was unbelievable, steaks and ribs where cooked to perfection! We then got desserts and they were beautiful!! We shall definitely be back!!

Called in and got the chicken strips which I thought was were very good auger rays have really improved with there food and the service was great

Had a lovely meal at sugar rays for my friends birthday , the waitress was quick to attend us and food was served in a good time. Would highly recommend this restaurant as food was lovely and the atmosphere was friendly. Will definitely be back!!

Visited Sugar Rays many times but today will for sure be my last. Service had always been top notch, however, seemed to be non existant today despite being one of a few tables. Attention to detail has diminished - one napkin for wings, nobody checked meal was ok (which it wasn't) and difficult to get the servers attention when wanting to ask for extra sauce.

Not sure what trading standards has to say about a restaurant calling itself a smokehouse when it doesn't even have a smoker onsite, but I would've thought that somewhere that calls itself a smokehouse would have to actually smoke at least some of the food! Pulled pork, ribs, and brisket, none of which had even a hint of smokiness in them, let alone bark. And the open kitchen didn't have anything that could be mistaken for a smoker.. no smell of woddsmoke anywhere on the property. Wise up. You're not a smokehouse so stop calling yourself one.

I've been here a few times and usually have been fairly happy with what I got however on my recent visit I found that the standards have slipped and the prices have risen.

Called in one Saturday lunchtime. It wasnt busy so we were served quickly. The portions are big but we still had room for sweets.

A place where you know what you get and you know it will be good. Food is always great, service quick and efficient and always leave full. Very good value for money and worth the short drive out of town.

We had a selection of burgers, bbq beans, chicken burgers and ribs. All perfectly cooked and could not be faulted. Generous serving of fries which is cool, so all in all a good spot for good American styled food.

We went on a Sunday night , it was quite busy but we were shown to a table straight away , food was lovely , the kids loved their food and the Sundaes for desert. I was able to get a meal that although not guaranteed gluten free had no gluten containing ingredients the bronco burger and it was very nice. Staff were also friendly and helpful.We will be back

Myself, 2 friends and my 2 children had something to eat yesterday ( Sunday) for my friends birthday, I ordered steak and was the best steak I have ever tasted compliments to the chef. The service was also 5*, ... I definitely would highly recommend sugar rays in Dundonald. I definitely will be back!.

This was a last minute decision to treat ourselves after a horrible week and it certainly cheered us up. We had champ and chicken with pepper sauce but as my wife has garlic allergies, the chef was more than happy to cook ordinary chicken with gravy. Staff were great and although we were overcharged afterwards, the problem was easily resolved without any hassle. The place is very like Blue Chicago and a nice family friendly American style feel about it. We purchased some gift cards for relatives and these can be used in other venues like Blue Chicago and Binkys, all close by. Really enjoyed this.

I'm traditionally a Sunday roast person at weekends but the family decided to take me on a no questions asked lunch. Sugar Ray's was the venue and must say the variety on the menu had my eyes glancing from option to option just so many to choose from in a good way. I settled for one of the stacks chicken brisket bacon on mash smothered in pepper sauce. Really tasty and filling prices were ressonable and the service was excellent all in all a nice change from the norm on Sunday

Didn't expect much from Sugar Ray's, as its a stereo typical burger/rib house, but as a family of 4 to each be served look warm food that is very poor.

Went to the restaurant last night with friends. Between us we had for 'teasers' [starters] BBQ Panko Breaded Rib Fingers with BBQ sauce and portions of wings with BBQ sauce...Both were delicious, especially the bread-crumbed ribs. Then for the main meal I, and one of the group, had full rack of ribs each with 2 side orders each and the others had the sirloin steak, one also had ribs added [about 1/2 rack!]. We all agreed the food was absolutely gorgeous. These are without doubt the best ribs I have ever tasted. They are so moist and just fall of the bone... ALSO the fellow who served us is called LIAM... Let me tell you if you get this guy to serve you it will be a brilliant experience. He just topped the whole experience off for us, so friendly and helpful.... one word..EXCELLENT.... Been before and this time was great too and I'll be back without a doubt :-) and thanks again Liam :-) [promote him we say]

Good service. Staff friendly (and competent) without being intrusive. Portion size was good and the food was tasty and hot. Pavlova was superb.

Sugar Rays, Blue Chicago and Binkys were among some of my favourite places to eat gluten free. Something that I really looked forward to, because they take the stress out of going out wihh friends. The food was always delicious and there was always a gluten free menu that highlighted to me what I could get a gluten free version of.

Visited here with my son. Ideal for the burger fan. Very good burgers. A large menu which would cater to most palates. Ideal for a snack lunch in a burger joint setting. Very attentive staff

Staff are lovely but food is a let down. My husband got chicken burger and small amount of chips. I got vegetarian meal, it was veggie fajita.

Came to Sugar Rays as a group on Friday night - greeted by a lovely girl at the door who showed us to a table right away. Service was great & there was a good atmosphere. The food was well presented, and very tasty. My partner had burgers and chips, I had a rooster stack - amazing. Looking forward to another visit :)

Called in after great day at the bowling.Tried the cowgirl and chilli fries.Both were excellent and husbands burger was huge lol.Young boy served we who was very professional and courteous.Perfect.

Went for some food after iceskating. We got one of the burgers and it was dry and the chips weren’t cooked properly. It was uneatable. Had like 4 bites. Painful to pay for a 40 quid meal and not having eaten properly. Also got a chocolate and mint milkshake and when it came it was just mint. The place was empty there was no reason for errors like this to be made. I’m not confrontational so I just paid and left, I’m sure there’s other silent customer such as myself. Went to binkys after and it was wonderful.

Brought the kids here after bowling. Had the most amazing mint chocolate milkshake I’ve ever had. On the other hand, I ordered a combo for myself and couldn’t eat the ribs as they were stone cold in the middle, and the fries were freezing cold.

We arrived and were shown to our seats promptly. Order taken promptly also, although waitress wasn’t very friendly. Food arrived quickly,probably after about 5-7 minutes!! One meal was a broncho burger,with chips and the other meal was burger and chips (with bacon,cheese and mustard).

Can’t fault this place because the food is excellent and the staff is always pleasant and helpful - despite the fact that it is so busy! I highly recommend the mac & cheese side. It is probably the best I have ever tasted!

Had an early dinner here last night (13/12/2018) as we waited for an appointment at the hospital close by. This type of menu seems to be getting very popular here in N Ireland, the American casual dining type of thing.

Very professionally managed establishment, good atmosphere, tasty burgers and chips. Looking forward to another visit.

I would attend sugar rays regurlary for meals with friends and family before heading to the cinema next door. The service is top notch and I have personally never had any issue with a member of staff or the food being served. The burgers are prepared exquisitely and are a great meal. They also offer various cuisine similar to an American variety such as ribs and platters.

Stumbled upon this place while staying on the neighbouring campsite - had the brisket stack which was out of this world ! Can highly recommend and if you have to queue for a table it will be worth it !!

You simply cannot beat the vibrant atmosphere of Sugar Rays. The food portions are huge, and what you get is always delicious. We always think it's better to leave some food than not have enough, tasty delightful and quick service, find it hard to fault this place to be fair. The chef is top notch and you can tell.

Always has, great tasty food, me and my husband would go here when we cannot be annoyed cooking, caters for every taste. The chicken meals are fab especially the rooster stack. Quick and friendly service always busy, a real gem in Dundonald

Was in Sugar Rays yesterday evening for a family meal and it was loved by everyone! The menu has so many tasty options so the hard part was picking what to go for, but I wasn't disappointed with my choice, the chicken ninja burger, and neither were the rest of the group, who got the ribs, enchiladas, and the bronco burger! The service was very good also! Will definitely be back! (:

We were here one night for dinner and it didn't disappoint, food was very tasty and there were no small portions. Not bad value at all.

Nice atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Staff are friendly. Food is delicious had the ribs n wings combo. The ribs were falling of the bone melt in the mouth. Even my 5 year old ate all of her kids ribs meal. Many thanks to our lovely server Anna.

Great food,great attentive staff with a fantastic atmosphere. Portion size is massive, ive never been able to clear my plate, but with the excellent food, you will definately try your best. Price is very reasonable and kids menu is varied. Milkshakes for the kids are superb and a great drinks menu for the adults. Been many times, the kids always want to return and im happy to oblige.

We got seated really quickly, orders taken and food served soon afterwards. Food was amazing and service was fantastic. Waiter was very attentive and friendly,deserved his tip. Will definitely be going back again soon.

Went to sugar rays for an American Style breakfast after reading the menu online. Had to wait until it opened to 12 only to find out when we were seated that they changed the menu 6-7 months ago (what the server told us) and they do not serve breakfast. Yet online it still has breakfast on the back. You would think they would have had the time to change that. Because it was after 13 as well, nowhere else in the complex were serving breakfast anymore. Not even an apology for the inconvenience.

Ordered the "Ultimate" and partner choose the "Hillbilly stack" and we were shocked to see the size of the portions but staff provided boxes for what you cant finish.

Went here on Sunday. The lovely young girl that served us was great from we walked in excellent service and manners very friendly. Pity people in tables in front of us wearnt as nice to her , very rude to the wee girl and she didn’t let it get to her. People should remember it doesn’t cost much to be nice if someone is nice to you. Food was beautiful as usual never know complaints In here.

Great place to go for good American food. Ribs are something else. We got two combos that filled four of us. Will be back soon. 5 stars

We had went to this complex looking for somewhere to have lunch, we decided on Sugar Rays Smokehouse, it was early in the week so plenty of seating areas available, we made our choice from a typical burger diner menu, the plastic wipe clean variety, a Carolina burger was ordered by the OH with an upgrade in the “fixings” that’s” sides” to you and me , of bbq pulled pork fries, I ordered a Santa Fe burger with the standard side of French fries with jug of water, it took a little while for the order to arrive as it was all cooked to order which was fine with us, the burgers were a good size and moist, the porkie fancy fries went down a treat with the OH, although they added another £3.00 to the meal, both burgers were priced at £11.99 for a 6 oz which we thought was a little expensive although the quality of the food was excellent , Staff were efficient .

Dissapointing choice for vegetarians..a burger...but it was very good..average price but good sized portions..family friendly..kids menu..

Straight in and seated right away. Drinks served and orders took promptly by one of the lovely we waiters. Food was excellent had the ribs platter couldn't finish it off, she had the cowgirl she loved it lol. Kids had the ribs and hotdog and ate the lot for picky kids.

First visit this afternoon 28/4/18. Arrived about 4pm and were seated right away and offered a drink, drinks arrived promptly and we each ordered combos which were huge, hot and really tasty, food was outstanding however service was lacking a bit as we never seen anybody again after our mains were served, nobody came to check on us or offer more drinks and after trying to get the attention of several staff passing by the table to clear our mains and get a dessert order, I had to get up and ask, it wasn’t overly busy and about 10 staff on many of them standing behind the counter chatting. That said the food was lovely and the initial service was friendly there was just no follow through, would try again sometime though.

Order taken promptly and served quickly. Baby Back Ribs with original sauce very nice. Could have been warmer though 😑 Very slow to clear table, but staff were very pleasant. I'm sure we will go back again.

Had booked ahead as We knew it would be busy and that was an understatement!!! Having said that We were seated promptly and service was quick despite it being so busy. Food when it arrived was delicious and could not be faulted. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking a tasty meal with family.

Sooooo after much deliberation my wife decided upon here for dinner, so me the wife and two young hungry boys. Seated quickly and sorted for drinks etc, menu is fantastic, plenty of choice for everyone! Wife opted for burger son number 2 the kids hotdog and son number 1 the kids ribs, I ordered the full rack of ribs. On reflection I should of ordered son number 1 a half rack as he had his and half of mine. Very tasty and comes of the bone clean! Simply delicious!

In all the years i've been visiting Dundonald for one reason or other I have never been here until now. I'm very dissappointed in that fact.

I've been here before and everytime I'm not let down by the service and more importantly the food. Being a busy night I expected a wait but was standing for 10mins which I didnt mind in the slightest. We were given menus to look over while we waited so when we were seated we were able to order straight away. The food arrived fast and it was delicious. The quality is always top notch. I would definitely return.

Never had a bad meal here, great comfort for, brilliant service and well priced. plenty of choice on the menu (even for a veggie wife) and the youngster loves it as well.

We used to love coming here but it seems that the quality of food has gone to the way side...

The staff are friendly and the food is so good. This is mine and my partners favourite go-to restaurant. The food may be a bit expensive but the portion sizes are worth it! The reason I am not giving 5 is because you can’t book unless it is a group of 8 or more... this is annoying as its really busy at the weekends! Also, there’s been a few times I’ve had to ask for a clean class. Honestly, give this place a try.... you’ll not be disappointed!

After being refused entry to Wagamamas due to them closing before their stated closing time we visited Sugar Rays Smokehouse and was greeted with a cheerful welcome, good service @nd good food, unlike their neighbours Wagamamas

This place is mainly for burgers and ribs , things it doesn't take a super chef to cook but they do it very well, the only problem is it is very very over priced for what it is and their desserts suck , seriously avoid them , they are too big and not good. So yeah if your stuck before the cinema or struck by the munchies after it's alright but remember those golden arches are only round the corner for a fraction of the price.

After reading reviews on trip advisor myself and my girlfriend went to sugar rays smokehouse, it was gorgeous and plenty of it you will not be disappointed staff very friendly also we will definitely be going back again soon

Good prompt service with a smile, the food was pretty quick to come out and pretty tasty as well. Price wasn’t too expensive. Would definitely go back!

We had about a 20 minute wait for a table (7pm on Saturday night, fairly reasonable timeframe!). The waitress was swiftly over for drinks when seated and she was great all through service.

Amazing staff, amazing food and a great location for mini golf, ice skating, bowling and the cinema.

Went for a meal with 3 friends after going to the cinema... Great menu choices... I had the bbq baby back ribs for starters and then the 'Steak Out' with a 7oz sirloin and more ribs!! also if you do not like the side orders or 'fixin' as they call them :-) they kindly change them to what you like.... Brill food...the ribs are something else and the steak was so tender and tasted great...definitely worth trying... Dervla served us and was so friendly and welcoming..other staff we had any contact with were also friendly... would recommend that you dine at this place... 10 star hospitality and food....

Anytime we are up this direction we always have a to visit Sugar Rays, whether it be lunch or dinner.Staff are always friendly and pleasant.ready for this.... portions are too big :) always leave stuff.excellent food regardless what I get, the special's menu is always recommended.

Massive portions here.... Don't double up unless you can really eat and are starving! The chicken in the burgers was incredibly juicy and tender. Was a real nice surprise given my expectations or an American diner on a retail park. Would recommend.

Me and my colleague was invited for a evening at sugar rays smokehouse as we love to bbq all year round etc but this didn't seem very authentic, don't get me wrong the food was good but lacked something, now in a smokehouse I like to leave smelling like BBQ with charcoal etc and I didn't, some may like that some may not. It has value for money but drinks are rather steep.

Went here after spending time mini golfing, greeted by a lovely waitress who showed us to are table and drinks were promptly taken. Decor, menu, and style of restaurant are very similar to several other restaurants but a style I do enjoy. Food was served promptly and piping hot. My partners brisket stack was beautiful and my rooster stack was lovely (my only complaint was that it was slightly too salty and glad I choose to get the gravy separate) I could have ate the cheesy bacon mash forever however we couldn't finish our meals as we were stuffed!!!

Travelled from Donaghadee to visit Sugar Rays as I'd heard a lot of good reports and it certainly lived up to its expectations. The brisket was very tender and my husband enjoyed his big boss burger. Food was great, staff were super friendly and there was a great atmosphere! Will definitely be back.

Visited here over the weekend with my other half and everything was just great!! Was greeted at the door by what seemed to be the manager who was a real gentleman and even though the restaurant was busy we were seated straight away!! I had a burger which was spicy and delicious and my other half had ribs which just fell off the bone! It was quick food but yet tasted and looked completely fresh! Loved it so much, we are looking forward to going again next week!

Visited sugar rays with my family on Saturday evening! The menu was perfect and had something for everyone! I had ribs and my husband had a massive burger which is called the big boss burger! The kids all loved there chicken nuggets and my eldest had a pulled pork sandwich which I guess he loved cause he didn't stop for a breath until the plate was clean! The atmosphere in the restaurant was great with its busy vibe and all the staff were very pleasant! Can't wait to go back!!

What a date night me and the hubby had! Waiting staff were so lovely and friendly! Food was awesome, hubby had the ultimate and had to take some home, it was huge! I had the diablo and it was so tasty! Will deff be back!

Went in after cinema. The ribs were tasty and pulled pork on fries decent. Nachos with chilli were poor. The nachos soft and not fresh at all, while the chilli looked like it had been sat under a hot plate all day. Good service though, very friendly waitress.

Visited here with my daughter for lunch. Not overly busy so service quick and efficient. Ordered brisket in a bap, huge portion. Coleslaw fixing lovely. Mid priced, food tasty.

Girlfriend and i visited today. Having been several times before we thought, why not? Not impreesed as we had been on our previous visits. It all seems to be very quick food now, as in the quicker ur in the quicker your out!! We had ordered less than 10 minutes and our food was on the table, my girlfriend had said her brisket beef was cold, mine was ok as i always order the same (pancake breakfast). Wont be going back anytime soon. Used to be a lot better.

Wasn't impressed here at all..Ordered a burger & the minute i cut it in half a fly flew out of it so i called waitress over & explained & she said she would get a new one done.The new one was overcooked & the onion rings were like bricks!!Don't think id go back!!

Went here last Friday and was extremely impressed. Gluten free options are brilliant and nothing was any trouble for the waitress/supervisor. Gluten free louisanna burger was gorgeous and chips and dip. Husband had platter which included BBQ ribs, burrito, corn bread, corn on the cob, coleslaw, onion rings and chips. He loved it. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Recently Been Twice to surgarays within the last Couple of Weeks. both times ordering the Belly Buster Platter with The 'American' 6oz Burger & half A Rack of Rips & Selected Size, Moderately priced for The portion Size, Food Is Quality and the Deserts great, Both times going with the Weekly Specials, Staff - Pleasant, Fast & Efficient .. Only word of advice - Avoid the starters unless you want to be full before main course, Easy 5 Stars

Everywhere else we wanted was booked out for Sunday lunch and seein we had to go to Dundonald hospital to see my hubby's youngest (broken jaw, broken nose, Saturday fight nite!) we ended up here... Hubby had Burger (does he ever order anything else?!) and I had ckn stack which was yummy... Our locals offer much better value with their Sunday lunch deals maybe Dundonalds posher than where we live but yeah... Was nice.. Good friendly service too... Their sister diner across the car park offers a more extensive gluten free menu I think...

American style set up . 2nd visit here .Menu is massive !! Good prices also , sides are bit expensive but the mains are well priced and my goodness you get a proper massive feed ! We went again on a quiet Thursday evening, straight in. Last time we went on a Saturday night and they were queued out the door.As always we were served by a very friendly waitress. The menu is American diner style, ribs, chicken, burgers, etc. The portions are great, the food is good quality and excellent value for money. Not much choice for vegetarians but great for meat eaters.

Visited here recently prior to going to the local cinema (literally just across the way) and thought I'd give a review as I enjoyed my visit.First of all just to get any negativity out of the way, this place is very popular and does not allow booking, so you do have to queue, and the system in place for said queuing is fairly disorganised (packed into a narrow opening with other diners who have finished squeezing past you, basically personal space breached to the max) fortunately the queuing was maybe 15 minutes at most but I would bare that in mind if that is something that bothers you.That aside, the majority of the tables are booth type setup and I always enjoy this as it offers a certain degree of privacy, which isn't a bad thing when wings, ribs and other messy foods are on the menu! I would say that the booths could fit more than 4 people but 4 would be very comfortable, tables are a good size etc.Anyway, onto the food I had ordered wings and initially expected a crispy type hot wing but it felt more baked/slow cooked, it was soft as apposed crispy but still, very delicious, the meal came with ribs which were perfect, the meat fell of the bone and was exceptionally tasty, slow cooked pork is a fine thing and these guys know what they are doing in that regard!Our meals came with fries (although other enticing sides were available) and a small corn bread, which was a nice wee extra as it's not something you find very often outside of the US..Unfortunately I can't say anything about the desserts as the mains were exceptionally filling, others have said this on here but the portions are big.Generally I can't really fault the place, it's decorated well and has a sort of american diner vibe and similar offerings, the staff we had interactions with were all great and the value was very good, especially when you factor in how much food you are actually getting.Even if this is not your sort of place it's deffinetly worth experiencing at least once, as an extra tip maybe arrange to visit and then go see a film in the Omniplex across the road or even visit the Dundonald Ice Bowl (bowling/ice skating) the restaurant is situated great for those activities!

Myself and my boyfriend were seated quickly and served efficiently. The staff were very nice and our food was served within minutes of ordering which was great. There was a lovely atmosphere and a fantastic range on the menu which can be overwhelming at times. It's definitely somewhere different and I would happily come back.
