Subway in St Albans

Iwalked in and asked for Nachos. The person behind the counter who didn't really speak English said they didn't ha e any. They normally use doritos. Didn't want to serve me clearly. Idiots . Illnever go to another subway again.

Terrible customer service. Would only give me 2 lines of mayo in my sandwich which cost £8 and wouldn't double wrap the ladies in front of me sandwich as she had a walk home and didn't want it to get cold. Won't return.

To be fair they were open in the early hours serving the late night trade but with a long queue they did not warn that they were not heating any food and would only sell footlongs. You only found this out after a long wait and after having chosen something you really wanted toasting! Clearly they could have sold six inchers but were trying to maximise income. If their oven etc were broken they could have put up a sign to advise of this. Otherwise tasted pretty good and reasonable value

It was a terrible experience! The guy who served us was on his personal phone speaking another language. Did not even put our order correctly as left my husband sandwich with different salad then requested. Very disappointed- will never visit again

This “outlet” is going against what I know is basic subway policy. Refusing extras such as salad and sauce because the sandwich “will not close” received one of the thinnest sandwiches of my life. In retrospect should have refused the sandwich.

Sandwich is Subway standard, no higher than 3 for any Subway, in my opinion. Service, though, can elevate food but here it does not. The staff here are miserable and are downright rude sometimes. Last time I was in here, one staff member proper shouted at a customer, demanding to know what sandwich he wanted and just being unpleasantly loud with him. I have been told that “we don’t do the Big Beef here” despite it being advertised on the side of the shop. Asked if they did nachos once and got told they did, then ordered them the next time and got told they didn’t? They are also constantly on the phone, which should NOT be allowed in an environment with food preparation. I cannot recommend this Subway, sorry.

Claimed they only do foot long when i tried to order a 6 inch. They then made a 6 inch for a customer who ordered online after I had already brought the footlong. Terrible behaviour trying to get me to spend more when i didnt want to. Do not trust this place.

Don’t have any other variety of bread, only had white bread but pretty sure it’s not the subway white bread. Can’t get it toasted either. Makes me question if this is a legit Subway or they just don’t care

Asked for simple subway melt- advised didn’t do it, had to pay for all extra meat. Asked for sauce, put about half a CM on the foot long. Asked for more sauce, said no. Very much get what you’re given and move on. Not consistent with other subway franchises I’ve been too. Poor quality

Avoid. Really poor customer service. Staff not attentive and rude, just talking and laughing amongst themselves, whilst I stood and waited for them. Dirty environment. Will not return.

It's another Subway with all the good sandwiches everyone knows about. 3-star only because I have a voucher for an offer (and their store was listed in the website as one of the participants) but the manager refused to accept it when I order and only took it (saying it was an exception) when I was about to leave the store! He said it would contact the website admin to take his shop out of the list but that isn't my business so if listed, they should accept vouchers! Apart from that, good service and options for food and drinks!

Sandwiches are great, staff also! However today as visited it was at least 40c degrees in the shop, no fan, no aircon, I don’t know how people able to work in those conditions. At least buy them some ice cream or some cold drinks! And a fan doesn’t cost much either!

I ordered two subs through the app when they were doing a special offer. I showed up when they were supposed to be ready. There were 3 staff members, none of them acknowledged me when I was waiting by the till (as per instructions from the app) and there were only two other customers in at the time. When I asked if I can pick up my order, one of them said they have a technical issue and don't do app orders. I said I was charged and asked if they can make the subs now but they said no and that I would get a refund by the end of the day. They didn't offer any proof of that and I got an email a few hours later saying that my order was cancelled by the store. Refund is still pending. I get that technical issues happen (if that's really what it was) but they should've offered to make the subs for me at the price advertised on the app.

I love the meatball sandwich but the meatballs are always cold so this time I asked please make sure they are warm, he said yes! Of course. They were cold again! I asked for warm ones and he put it in the microwave and I had to tell him when to give them back his the bread is disgusting and nuked and crispy and meatballs inedible! Shocking

A quarter of a sub considered a kids meal. RIP-OFF.

Dont order from subway using just eat. I have used this restaurant many times through just eat and have never had a problem until today. I asked for 9 inch Italian bread with chicken Tom and cucumber. I got 9 inch multi seed breed with mixed salad and a mixed filling. I also ordered 3 rainbow candy cookies and got 3 chocolate cookies. I also ordered 2 Pepsi max 500ml and I got Pepsi and tango 375 ml. The following has had 2 go in the bin as I cant eat multi seed rolls. When I rang the restaurant they dont have a phone so I rang just eat customer services and fair enough they said they would give me a full refund but when I asked them why they couldn't just re deliver me what I actually ordered they couldn't tell me why they couldn't re deliver. I just got told that it is the policy. Joke. Oh and they said that I could leave a review through just eat but when I did it was a survey for just eat not subway. If I could have left 0 stars then I would have

I’m a Subway regular but my first and last visit to this one. The filling in my sub was the stingiest ever: I could see the joyless server (franchisee?) thinking “shall I put in a fifth piece of cucumber? Is five halves of olives enough to avoid the customer grumbling?” etc. I have never previously been made to feel that by ordering a sub and expecting the usual amount of filling I was taking food from the mouths of someone else’s children or jeopardising the survival of the business.

Pretty standard subway. It's a little bigger than the other subway in town, and is usually a little less busy. The sandwiches are as disgusting as in a usual subway, and overpriced. Its good for a quick bite, and is open quite late, so I guess I'll recommend it if you don't care about price or taste.

Love this place staff are great. I just feel sorry for the staff as they work alone so much

This is the worst subway I have ever been in. Super slow rude staff and a girl who keeps coughing over the food. Awful.

Nice staff. But management have no concern of there staff. It’s the busiest day of the year with the Christmas lights being turned on and there’s only one member of staff on with a queue coming out of the door. The owner was contacted and was told it’s no concern of ours. I think it’s disgusting and very rude.

Went in here with my 2 children (15 & 5) was told by server #1 they don’t do a kids meal, and then the cashier at the end said they do normally but didn’t have the stuff??

The food was over priced. We went am hour before closing and was told we couldn't have our sandwiches toasted as the oven was off and the selction of fillings compared to the other shop 5 mins down the road was appalling

In desperation for something cheap I went in - ordered the classic melt, they put it together quickly but then the till would not work, so I waited for approx. 10 minutes until it still did not work . Paid cash and got change from a slush fund box, so my food was cold and pretty crappy by the time I got to eat it...

Took my 8 year old in here today, what a nasty place ordered kids meal deal for my little one to which th lady wanted to put a piece of cheese which didn’t cover the surface of the roll which I questioned and was rudely told it’s what they do which has never happened in any other subway so asked her to put grated cheese instead which she slapped in the roll. moving on I ordered nachos for my self to which she wasn’t putting together very nicely so another memeber of staff took over. On opening the box I found a black hair in the nachos 🤮 totally gutted. Walk back to counter and show staff, who all look at me blankly no help what so ever, not even a refund nothing so I left without my food or my money. Yes I know they are only 99p but it’s not the point.

I went into this branch and asked for a Diet Coke. The server looked at me strangely. I explained I didn’t want a sandwich, just a drink please. He looked away and began talking to his colleague in a foreign language for a number of minutes, seemingly confused by my order. I said again that I’d just like a drink, but the server ignored me. After standing at the counter a little while longer, I ended up walking out. I told the server not to worry about the drink as I’d go elsewhere, he didn’t even acknowledge me! Extremely rude and weird.

Just went to get something to eat and it’s shut, so they don’t bother opening on time and now they shut when they want think head office needs to hear about the St. Peter’s rd store

Terrible service and dirty. Never open on time! I came in at 7.40am and despite the opening time stating 7.30am the shop was still closed! Not the first time this happened. The staff is pleasant but the guy in the morning is always late and only starts setting up at 7.35 when it should be set up by 7.30. No large coffee cups only one size which is not great and a broken microwave. The 1 star is for staff being nice the rest zero stars!!!

This restaurant never opens on time and is known for closing early despite opening hours clearly displayed on the door. Came this morning at 7.37am and the guy was still setting up and said he's not ready even that opening time is 7.30am on Saturday. I needed my coffee but coffee machine was not ready and the grill was not hot. If your opening hours state 7.30 that means you should be 100% ready at 7.30am not arrive to work at 7.30 and start setting up from when u should be ready to serve people. I didn't get my breakfast as I had a bus at 7.40am so there was not enough time which I was angry about. Not professional at all. And What a with the early closing!!?? Clearly you can read your own display so why lie to customers!? Not happy.

Working near by, nursing a sore head from the night before, it had to be done. Foot long meatballs and cheese. Perfect 👌

Very nice food, only problem is I feel intense guilt whenever I order flatbread and meatballs, I know it's horrible for them to make, but it's just so good...

I purchased a subway on Saturday lunch time with a friend, we admired the opening hours of the restaurant and discussed with a member of the team the 4am closing time, committing to return that evening to purchase multiple footlongs. I spent the duration of the night trying to enjoy myself drinking and dancing, but all that I could think of was my date with a steak and cheese sub.. We excitedly approached the Subway store just after 3am, giving us plenty of time to get there and purchase our 2nd sandwich of the day. We pushed the door only to find it locked, and the member of staff behind the tills shaking his head at us. We pointed to the opening hours on the door and explained they should still be open, but the member of staff continued to shake his head and then proceeded to ignore us / play on his phone. My friend began to cry, dreams of a 4am steak and cheese shattered into pieces and our night ruined... so if your ever visiting this restaurant, just remember the opening hours mean nothing... they close when they want.

Surely you know all about Subway already? If not what planet have you been on? It's a sandwich shop, but the bread is Torpedo shaped. These are called "subs" apparently (probably an American military thing) so you are eating the 'sub' way. Get it? All the fillings you can imagine and service with a scowl.

Called in on Thursday (24th August) with my 3 boys.Clearly a shortage of certain bread today - Hearty Italian.Staff couldn't cut the bread in half properly and literally threw the fillings together.Floor in the place was filthy and fortunately we could sit outside.Bit of care and attention goes a long way in a customer facing industry.

Very small version of this chain. Guy at the till knew less about contactless payments than I did.

This subway is a lovely little one with great staff and lots of outdoor seating.

This an awesome place for sandwiches.The store have hot heigenic food and pleasant staffs.

A subway is a subway but this one has outdoor seating so it's a good place to eat in the summer

One star because it was the lowest I could put. Only sell cold food at night because they won't pay for the late license and rely on drunk people not caring.

It's a Subway, so you know what your getting for the money. Food always fresh no matter which branch you go to. Only downside is that it's quite small & only 3 seats inside & up to 9 seats outside on 3 small round tables.

The staff here were very friendly when I popped in for an early lunch. They took the time to ask me how I was and even tell me how much they love jalapeños. Won't be ordering a flatbread again though.

I like this branch as it's small and service friendly and efficient. The usual menu is available and the products look and taste fresh. Coffee too is good. No concerns here just good quality items served in a friendly atmosphere.

This branch is one of 2 in the high street. It's really what you can expect from a Subway, no complaints here!

Delicious food, very consistent and you know exactly what you're getting with these guys. Will go again.

Standard and fair quality 'Subway' food, well cooked, clean and presentable, pleasant patient staff when I take a long time to order my foot long.

Subway offers you the subs you need for reasonable prices, and is located on the high street, making it easily accessible. It also reopens around 3 in the morning which means it's an option if you need food after a night out!

I stop at the above quite regularly on my way home from the market or when I'm out doing the weekly shop for my bits and pieces. As I am disabled and ride an electric scooter in and out of the town this is on my rout, the staff here are both courteous and extremely helpful. They take the time to come outside to me and take my order, even when it is busy. Should it be very busy they always ask if I would like a coffee while waiting as it may take a few minuets, This is usually never longer than ten - minutes and I assure that it is much appreciated.The premises are kept immaculately clean and tidy even in the lunch time rush.Also the staff are well turned out, well mannered, are very quick about there work.

Its a subway. Staff are great. Location is great if you are shopping around St Albans - in my opinion this is much better then any of the other sandwich shops

During working at a different store to my usual, lunchtime came and I found Subway.Going for a £5 meal deal, the Italian BMT was always going to be a winner!The cashier handled the guy in front of me very well, changing his mind over and over again when choosing a drink.. its not like he was picking a new pair of trainers!The sub was really good, only down side of this little unit is there are just three seats so if you need to sit down.. you can try the floor!Good service, quick, definitely worth a go!
