Visited as a couple for an evening meal after a days walking . It was just what we needed, a cosy pub with a roaring fire and friendly bar staff ( and Chef ) . The food was excellent and reasonably priced for the amount on our plates . I would definitely recommend a visit and I believe they also do accommodation with a breakfast to die for . We will certainly visit again.

Firstly , as the title suggests we visited Streethead Inn 3 times in 4 days. We had eaten at the pub we were staying at but was very disappointed, but that is another review!. So visit 1 We had booked by email and telephone on the day of our visit so when we arrived we were asked if we minded eating in the Conservatory area. We said it was fine as they had a heater on. I had the local lamb cutlets which were delicious. My wife had the duck breast which was equally delicious. Overall a very pleasant visit. So much so we booked for 2 days later. Visit 2. This was our anniversary night and was looking forward to a special night out. Once again we were placed in the Conservatory. Unfortunately the heater wasn't on and it was a good deal cooler which, Unfortunately, made the food go cold quite quickly. We both ordered the sirloin steak which was 10 ounce! We did ask if they did a smaller one and was told no! We requested it to be cooked medium , nice and pink, Unfortunately they were both very well done. The chips and vegetables were very nice but again went cold quite quickly. We had lovely bottle of Voigner for just £20. It was a nice visit but a tad disappointing. So visit 3. We specifically asked to eat in the restaurant area and we had a nice table in there. We both ordered the Chicken strips cooked in drambui and cream sauce with mushrooms and onions, we had potatoes and vegetables accompaniment. It was delicious. The chicken was moist and succulent . The sauce was very tasty. We again had the same wine which was very good and reasonably priced. In summary, we very much enjoyed our eating experience at the Street Head Inn and will no doubt return in the future. Footnote It is very popular, particularly as there is an attaching caravan and camping sites, so booking in advance is essential.

This has been a perfect stay, start to finish. The welcome we received was warm and local and set the standard from there out. All the staff are brilliant and the interactions are positive, friendly and also with humour. The owner, Nigel is a farmer as well and very funny and honest and again with a great humour that might surprise you. He completes the staff well and despite working all day, his presence in the bar is brilliant. We stayed in room 1 in the pub and it was clean, a nice size and well stocked where you'd expect. The view of the surrounding hills was a great sight and we have no complaints with the room. The food, amazing taste and portion size was brilliant and a great price as well. We stayed for 3 nights and sampled a lot of the menu between us and not a bad starter, main or dessert was had. Breakfast was also great and no complaints there either...10/10 for the food. The atmosphere / vibe of the place is perfect and it's a busy place and plenty of people to meet. The location is good, about 40 minutes from the viaduct start for the 3 peaks walk in the area and a great location to start many a walk. Dog friendly as well as long as you tell them in advance and pool and darts available.... Not a bad thing to say about it. The perfect place to come back to and relax after a day out and no need to travel out to other places. We will be back in October and can't wait to enjoy Yorkshire again with this as our base Martin & Tracy

We were so pleased to discover this pub just 1.1/2 miles from.where we stayed in West Burton. But, when we did we came back another two times. It had a great atmosphere. It was immaculate and from the moment we entered we were made welcome. We had read the reviews. But as we were hungry we ordered starters. Oh my goodness, every starter was amazing, and the size would have normally been a main!! When all the mains arrived they didnt disappoint. Delicious!!. Only criticism was that because the meals were so large, we just couldnt manage the desserts which also looked spectacular. One of our group is a vegetarian and panicked when she got her lasagne, thinking they had made a mistake, but no it was a vegetarian meal. The landlord Nigel was the perfect host, making sure along with his staff the give us the best experience.Thank you so much

Lovely Beer and sandwiches are good as well.It is dog friendly and we ate here on two occasions. Although reasonably priced, we found the meals to be tasteless, bland and a bit dated. I had the vegetable stroganoff that only tasted of cream and burnt onions. At lunch, hubby had hot roast lamb sandwich and chips (only £6.50), which was very tasty. I had scampi and chips, as it's hard to get the taste wrong on that, but the peas were bland. This is an original coaching Inn and has its original beams. We are very disappointed with our stay at Streethead Inn. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. You can feel every spring on the mattress and we therefore didn't have a good night sleep. The duvet was dated and soiled. There were also cobwebs above the television. On top of all these, we were awakened by the fire alarm going off at 1am. The fire alarm was extremely loud and had gone off for quite sometime. We tried to contact the landlord as he does not reside within the premises but sadly there was no reply. The pub chef later on came out to inform us that he has re-set the fire alarm. The landlord needs to review their fire alarm protocol as the residents were left to their own devices at the start and we didn't know what to do or where to assemble. Considering that the cost for the night was £90, we would not rate it as value for money and our entire experience was exceedingly terrible.

We picked this place as it seemed to be close to a couple of places we wanted to see - Aysgarth Falls for example. We arrived early afternoon to find the place closed but there is a useful system whereby ringing the doorbell seems to ring the owner - and he quickly arrived in his landrover, offering apologies which really were not necessary. This pub/lodging is situated on the main road, opposite a farm and the views are exhilarating both front and rear.

Good food and a pleasant ambience in the bar and restaurant areas but, if you have a dog, give it a wide berth. Eating in the 'pool room' is awful especially when a game of pool takes place. I appreciate that dogs should not be in the restaurant, but there is no reason why it shouldn't be possible to book one of the few tables in the bar area. Everything we ordered was plastered in 'red cheddar'. I ordered chef's chilli with nachos and salsa, expecting the chilli to look flavoursome and the nachos and salsa to be on the side, as I've had in other pubs. The quantity alone was off putting and apart from everything being covered in red cheese, the chilli looked insipid. We had parked at West Burton and walked over as part of our circular walk that day. We were only looking for a light bite and a drink and so we chose a ploughman's to share and a beer each. The food was lovely and certainly sufficient. It wasn't very busy and the waitress was chatty and told us about the refurbishment that was going on throughout. My wife was so impressed by the Ladies toilets which she considered to be up there with the best she had ever seen in a pub. The total bill was £11.05

We passed by at lunch time to get some food and drinks as we had seen that the place had been renovated, I popped my head in to see if they were open and was hesitantly advised they was but as we had dogs could only sit in the top area of the bar - fair enough. waited a while to get served and was told straight away that the kitchen was really busy and was not sure that were even going to open as they had a party booked in at 2pm - it was mid-day. We had our drinks in the stated area whilst tv played the rap music not suited for the bar or it's 3 customers, had out drinks and promptly left. disappointed as we was looking forward to using this place again

Due to staff being ill at nearby Westholme the owner recommended Steethead Inn. It was well recommended. Absolutely gorgeous food. Huge portions but everything well cooked. Had starters and mains. Everything fab. Sadly no room left for pudding. Reasonably priced and lovely staff.

Having previously had a delicious bowl of soup here, we decided to stop again when we found ourselves passing. We were told the soup of the day was chicken and vegetable which sounded healthy and harmless enough. When it came there was, indeed, plenty of chicken and veg in it, but also lashings of cream. It was very tasty but not good for the waistline - even more so when it was accompanied by an irresistible warm crusty baguette!

We went as a biggish party, and took the kids and grandkids. Friendly folk, and good real beer. The food was good and well-cooked. Proper big portions too. We all liked it. Food isn't the cheapest for basic pub food: but is good stuff.

The two of us went here twice in a few days. Once on Saturday night and then Sunday lunch.Saturday - white bait and fish and chips Luz liver and bacon. White bait were ok, had better but no complaints. Fish and chips was good. Fish tasted fresh and chips were excellent. The liver and bacon was very nice but it may have been hanging around for a few extra minutes in the kitchen. Service was excellent. Staff were all very pleasant. The pub area had a very nice feel to it.Sunday - it is a self serve carvers. Good choice. Well cooked. Very pleasant chef who was serving. You have to remember its northern cooking so the beef will not be rare but they did say they can cook steaks rare with no problems at all. The only problem with Sunday lunch is the main eating area, not in the main pub area, is a bit functional and lacks the great character the rest of the pub has. It is there to meet demand which is very understandable. See if you can get a table in the pub area when booking.Overall, very good. Good staff, nice pub, nice owner, good quality beer and deserves the reputation it has acquired.

Always a warm welcome from the owner & staff. A good choice of dishes on the menu & a specials board. I have eaten here several times & have always enjoyed my food. My partner just loves meat of any description and likes a large plate full, the Street head serves very generous portions so he is always happy. I couldn't recommend just one dish, they are all very good & it's a good excuse to keep going back. The bar is well stocked & the landlord always has a lovely twinkle in his eye, another reason to go back!!.

This pub offers massive portions of meals inside a warm, welcoming and friendly setting. The atmosphere is warm homely, a traditional old fashioned pub! We had a really nice but shy waitress and it would of been better if the bar staff were more welcoming. The meals are great value and are something nice and warm to look forward to if staying in the campsite next door.

We visited this pub as we needed somewhere to eat on the last evening on holiday which was near to where we were staying. It is a traditional pub which has a good feel. Beautiful setting. It was on the route of the famous 'Tour de Yorkshire'.When we initially looked at the menu it was comprehensive but seemed a little expensive..........when our food arrived is was clear to see why! The portion size was enormous and the quality was really good. The childrens menu was especially good value for money and they enjoyed what they had. There were also at least three veggie choices which for a country pub is amazing! We had a lovely waitress who was efficient and polite.

Very nice meal. I don't normally like onion rings but I have to say they were lovely!! The steak was on the special board and was cooked to perfection. The chips, as previous reviewers have said, were lovely. I don't normally eat many chips, but not this time! You can eat in the bar, or in the restaurant, so if you are in the area I would highly recommend you pay them a visit. I like good, basic food, and their menu would suit most tastes. I knocked one star off because the seat I sat on was not comfortable. I should have mentioned it on the night. If the owner is reading this, sit on the bench seat nearest the heater opposite the fire. It needs re-padding!!

It's been some years since we have been to this inn following a disappointing meal at new year. And we were not to be disappointed this time. There was a sparse menu with very little on it, but we chose the chicken burger and ploughman's the burger was just ok my partners ploughman's had no ham, no pork pie, no apple, and tescos value cheese board has a better selection of cheeses. Such a pity for a inn with so much potential
