Always a lovely atmosphere but vegan options are sometimes hit a miss, risotto was very salty. My partners pie was lovely though and the chips were amazing.

Staff member was rude. When we went to go in and get drinks to sit outside in the sunshine she rudely said ‘do you have a booking?’ When we said no, we’re just getting some drinks and sitting outside she said ‘well that’s alright then’
not very welcoming at all. Packet of crisps was extortionate too.

Previously been fantastic every visit, couple of weeks ago went for meal for 2, the soup starter was very peppery and heated, not the usual celeriac soup, fish and chips usually very good, not this time, the fish batter was very greasy and at the end of meal there was a pool of grease , and to top the evening off, my Mrs was ill couple of hour later, been a regular for years, but now looking elsewhere, not once was we asked if meal was OK, slow staff and didn't seem to care, just another job it felt like, not the usuall i expected, sorry but totally let down on this occasion,

Used to love the food here, but it's gone downhill. We ordered the roasted cod with linguini, smallest piece of fish possible, with loads of very slimy linguini. Not appetising at all!! Staff were not very attentive, didn't seem to be any manager in charge, Very disappointed. They seem to be more concerned with afternoon teas now? But its impacted on the Resturant meals. Poor. Won't be coming back until improvements, & we used to eat here at least once every 3 weeks.

Restaurant was cold, food was poor, service needs improvement. For starters the waitress simply said is this yours to my wife, we asked what it was and she showed us the plate. Then same question for second plate. Surely the waitress could just say who’s is the goats cheese? Clearly no training being given! Chicken satay starter luke warm but edible (not nice), other starters were good/ok. Main course beef was poor quality and cold, struggled to cut the fat off. Yorkshire pudding also cold. Had to pay extra for mash with Sunday dinner. But the insult to injury was being charged for extra Gravy that we were not ordered to try warm up the food because we’re were given cold meals. Paid the bill and left without desert as it was all so bad we didn’t want to risk it. Nobody ever asked if any of the food was ok, despite us seeing plenty of staff and it wasn’t particularly busy. If a place doesn’t do check backs on the food it’s because they don’t want to know! Sad as it’s a lovely place and could be so much better.

Me and my family came here for my mother's 65th birthday on 20th of his month her birthday wasn't untill 21st its lovely food their was 8 of us intotal I alone spent ÂŁ30.10 and that was on the 8oz rump stake a drink and a child's brownie desert. It's lovely food but the portion you get for the price isn't worth it ÂŁ21 pound for a stake with about 10 chips and no pepper corn sauce wich you had to pay an extra ÂŁ4.50 on top of the ÂŁ21 most other restaurants don't charge extra for sauce,s you also got a large mushroom and some tomato,s and half a tree of green salad stuff. So for this reason me and my family won't be returning here too over priced for what you get very disappointed about not having pepper corn sauce with the stake also you don't sell strong bow darkfuries too that's also a disappointment too. Also the desert are way over priced ÂŁ8 for a brownie And ÂŁ3.50 for a child I'd rather pay ÂŁ3.50 instead of ÂŁ8. My star rating is me being generous And honest in my post I think that you're need to lower the prices of the food a bit and start to add sauces to the table free of charge and add pepper corn sauce to the stake and not over charge it as an extra iteam also add more chips too and ask people if they want mushroom,s to be added the plate too.

We’ve been visiting the Strafford Arms for the last 15 - 20 years. It’s a fabulous pub, but unfortunately, in our opinion, over the last year or so, the quality of the meals and the service has declined considerably. The meals we were presented with on our last visit were very poor and I doubt if we will be returning again until we hear better reviews. I’m sad to have to make theses comments, and I I hope this criticism will be acted upon constructively.

The staff really make the place, so friendly and clearly like their job and want to do a good job which is sometimes rare and really does make a difference. The afternoon tea savoury bits were lovely, with the right portion sizes and each very tasty (chips are the best!!). Some of the cakes were a little dry and some of the other teas I saw coming out looked a bit better with extra things on them but overall was really nice. Good selection of draft beers and wines. Visited The Stratford Arms with a friend before Christmas. I’ve only heard great things about this place so I was very excited about our visit but left rather disappointed. The atmosphere and the decor was great, it felt very inviting and cozy. I ordered a couple of starters, mussels mariniere as a starter and a salt & pepper chicken bao bun as a main. My friend opted for a white onion & celeriac veloute soup to start followed by a beef burger. My mussels were served in a small bowl with a couple of slices of stale bread rather than fresh crusty bread as advised on the menu. No side-plate was given for the shells nor finger-bowl as you would expect this dish to be served. Upon asking for the above, the waitress had no idea what the finger bowl was nor wanted to find out, just handed me a small side plate for the shells. The mussels themselves tasted lovely but the bread and the service was a major let down for me. My friend did like his soup but his bread was also stale so we both left these. Our main courses were equally disappointing. My bao bun was served with raw red cabbage and red pepper slices instead of a red pepper slaw and the chicken was overcooked. My fiend’s burger was so over baked that it was black in colour and he said that the best part of the dish was probably the fries. We decided not to have desserts so asked for the bill and left. I personally don’t think that I will return to the Stratford Arms and certainly won’t recommend it as I was expecting way more based on the recommendations that I had.

After reading some good reviews we decided to try the Strafford for my husbands birthday. We arrived in plenty of time for our 7.30 booking and had a drink in the bar whilst we waited to be seated, after 15 minutes we were assured that our table would be ready shortly, another 15 minutes then the waiting staff realised we were still there. Finally sat down then promptly asked if we were ready to order!!! My seat wasn't even warm, it all seemed to be rushed after that, just finished chewing our starters and the main course arrived, food was nothing special for a hefty price, some dishes were served luke warm, when mentioned this to waiting staff we were told "I'll pass it on to chef" it was quite clear that they wanted us out of there as quick as possible, in fact the bar full of after dinner drinkers were asked to leave at 10.50, on a Saturday night, will not be returning.

At the end of October, four of us went to the Strafford Arms for the first time for their Viva Mexico themed night where we were promised Mexican Small Plates, Mexican Cocktails and live music with a mixture of English & Spanish songs. The food was exceptional with decent portion sizes (small plates definitely weren’t small! – just how we like them lol), the drinks were lovely (and flowing easily), the live music was heavily English biased but was still nice to have (although a little loud for some). We enjoyed; PULLED LIME & TEQUILA CHICKEN (GF) £9 – this was our favourite dish in terms of flavour, could have eaten another plate of this! FULLY LOADED NACHO FRIES (GF) £10 – another fave of ours, wow what a bowlful! Really enjoyed how much was on this plate, definitely filled us up. Didn’t spot the chips underneath all the nachos and toppings at first haha. SHREDDED LAMB SHOULDER EMPANADA, CHILLI SALSA £12 – a nice portion and spicy salsa was good, would have liked a little more filling? CHORIZO, BLACK BEAN & CORN SALSA £8 – a nice, refreshing dish Traditional Margaritas – strong & salty 😄 It was great to see many gluten free options. The service was really good, staff were friendly and food service was speedy. A lovely evening. had by all It was the first time we’d been to this cosy, country pub and I would return to try more of their food.

I booked online for my birthday meal for 5 people at 6pm. We were running 5 minutes late and I received a call from the restaurant, saying they stopped serving food at 6 and said would have to order straight away. Why would a restaurant let you book a table at the same time their kitchen shuts?? I would have booked earlier if I had known as from the moment we got there we felt we were being rushed the entire time and they wanted us out as soon as possible. We ordered roast dinners and the beef was very chewy for both people who ordered it, and the Yorkshire puddings were burnt for everyone. The roast chicken was lovely and moist and I recommend the chocolate brownie for dessert. We ordered a second round of drinks that never came also. The one positive was that the waitress was polite and helpful, especially with ordering desserts. This was disappointing as I was looking forward to bringing my family here as I had had a lovely time visiting previously. I really wish they had not let me book a table when the kitchen closes as that definitely took over the whole dining experience which is a shame.

I hope this is taken in well meaning intent. The wait staff were good and prompt. My issues were with the food. We had lunch, Chicken Gyros. Food was mediocre and not piping hot. I know the fries go inside the wrap but they had been there so long they had gone completely soggy. I don't know how because we weren't kept waiting. Ordered a kids Tomato and Cheese pasta. It was literally that with a slice of, at least once reheated, garlic bread. (It was hard and after the meal it was completely solid I couldn't tear it). The tomato sauce tasted like straight passata, it was sharp and my child didn't eat much (she loves pasta). We didn't complain because I didn't think the chef had done it wrong per se, I'm sure that's how he does it, but it just wasn't to our taste. Wouldn't order again, but would go back to try something else.

We visited as a party of 8 on a Friday evening. The car park is very tricky to negotiate when busy. Staff were friendly but the wait times were long due to the number of diners. Meals were underwhelming for the price.

Absolutely fantastic, the afternoon tea was amazing! Very unique, love the quirkiness of the miniature picnic bench. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very organised and overall spot on. The fish and wedges were cooked to perfection aswell as the mini chicken burger. The selection of desserts is great as everyone likes different ones. The scone and the mini cheesecake were the best 👌 thank you I'll be visiting again x

Lovely place, nice atmosphere. I could imagine that it would be lovely to eat here, but the food isn't great for the price. The burger & bacon was cremated, which you can see in the picture. We would have sent it back (like the table next to us) but to be sent out by the kitchen, it was obvious that it was the standard of the grill. Have pride in your cooking if not. The fish and chips were better, the mushy peas especially were good, however the wedges were underwhelming. Needless to say, I doubt we'll be back.

Just had lunch and unfortunately the Wild mushroom with gnocchi was not good. Oily and under seasoned. Some of the mushrooms were too tough to eat. Didn’t complain at the time as I didn’t want to offend my friend who had suggested eating there. Shame as it’s a very nice venue

Come here on Saturday to a baby shower in the outside marquee and what can I say apart from what a huge let down, food was £17.95pp so should have been enough of each item to go around but there wasn’t, my friend had to pay extra for chicken goujons and chips to actually go round everyone, this pub has lied about my friends after they have complained saying they had taken there own buffet trays in and crisps which I can vouch is 1000% not true, there wasn’t enough tables so a couple of her guests brought the picnic tables in to the marquee, staff where rude, left empty glasses on tables and basically ruined the day the atmosphere from them was shocking to say she had that amount of people who paid that price for the little bit of food they got and where all buying drinks you’d think the staff would have gone above and beyond for them, and then when they complain they get insulted and lied about from staff at this pub it’s totally unacceptable and I can assure you I certainly won’t be visiting again as I highly doubt none of her other guests will as they all had something bad to say about your staff and pub. I’d avoid having your event here at all costs as they will ruin it.

Recently visited the Stratford Arms for a baby shower, however I feel I have to comment on my experience. The food was very good and tasty it did however lack in amount for the price paid. I also understand that extra was paid for by the party host for some extra warm food due to some people not having any due to the amount available. Seating was very scarce and people who were attending the gathering had to carry tables into the marque as it was raining and there was nowhere to sit. Whilst the food was lovely I wouldn’t recommend anybody hosting a party / gathering at this establishment.

Had afternoon tea here a number of times. Always good, tasty food and decent value for money. Can be a little chaotic sometimes and we’ve had wrong orders delivered to us that needed correction. Friendly staff, parking can be challenging and tight spots, but offsite parking is available. Nice spot, especially when the sun shines.
