We visited this cafe today and the food was absolutely delicious, the waitress was lovely and very knowledgeable about the menu. As a Coeliac I'm used to being offered a baked potato or chips because everything else has gluten in it but this cafe offered many options (I opted for the eggs benny ). There were at least 6 different gluten free cakes and bakes on offer as well. 5 well deserved stars from us!

If I could I’d give them 10 stars. I had the pork sausage roll which was available as a special. In all my years of having sausage rolls nothing compared to this one. The buttermilk pancakes were also incredible. We went two days in a row and the only reason we’re not going tomorrow is because they are shut.

Really pleased to be able to sit in the Fig & Olive again, staff are friendly, professional and efficient. Food is not typical of a Scottish cafe, it’s worth paying a visit, since it’s 5 months since I have been in fo lunch, it had to be pancakes, bacon and maple syrup plus coffee, all were excellent. Will be back soon for the club sandwich and a cake

As we approached the Cafe, we had second thoughts, only to be blown away by the atmosphere, opening the door to a pleasent set up, good open windows, comfy seats. Myself and my acquaintance where seated by the western window, served well by water and a jolly Waitrose, we sat, discussed and at peace with the simplistic, comforting atmosphere.Very nice, chilled water, great service and, a brilliant highlight to a Autumn Morning, 6/6 would recommend to other people I know, such a worth while visit.

My husband and I visited whilst in holiday . Our visit was totally ruined by a very rude lady ( I presume the chef . A more mature lady with dark hair )The lady that served us ( sorry didn’t get her name ..blonde hair ) was so lovely .. very helpful and friendly .We ordered eggs Benedict and pancakes and 2 lattes. Another lady with dark hair came and cleared the table taking away our coffee glasses which weren’t finished .. I didn’t say anything but simply ordered More coffees ..The lady with blonde hair came to ask if we wanted anything else , I explained we were there on holiday and it was my husbands birthday ..,and we’re just saying how we would like to book again .At this point the more mature lady Came flying out of the kitchen and stated very loudly ‘ we need to get tables cleared ‘ and snatched up the glasses from our table ... it was so so rude and totally unacceptable behavior to the lady which was actually an asset to the business ! We thought for ages where we would eat on our frist post-lockdown outing before eventually deciding on Fig and Olive. We made a good choice. We had 100 mile round trip to drop things off in Portpatrick, and knew we'd need to eat lunch somewhere. A picnic? - no, we have to be brave and eat out. A hotel in Portpatrick? - hmm, never been before. Fig and Olive - yes! we'd been before for snacks, knew it was nice.So we reserved a table. When we arrived we missed the sanitiser and contact sheets by the door, but a waitress bought the sheet over for us to complete. The staff all had PPE, and the tables were a good distance apart. I chose a ham and cheese croissant, my husband a chicken club sandwich. Both were great. While we were eating the staff were sanitising each table as it cleared, and the doors into the toilets. Quite impressed. This was a good experience. Though everything was different, the new measures didn't feel intrusive, plus we had a tasty lunch.

Everyone was happy with their choices which included GF baked eggs, GF French toast, poached eggs on GF toast and bacon and eggs on sourdough. It reminded me a lot of my time brunching in Australia and it turned out the owner is Australian! Lovely, trendy decor and nice wee gifts to buy. We took some cakes to takeaway and there were numerous GF options which was fantastic - rocky road, white choc rocky road, florentines, meringues etc. I would certainly recommend, only negative was that it was a bit too cold for me, but it wouldn’t put me off going back as the food was so good!

I ordered poached egg on toast with bacon and filter coffee. The coffee was not filtered but came in a cafe tier that had already been pushed down. It had not worked so the coffee was full of grounds that formed a muddy layer in the bottom of the cup. The poached egg was all but solid and on toast so hard that I could not cut or bite through the crust. I had to cut the crust off the slightly softer bread. The bacon also was over cooked and so hard that I could neither cut it or pick it up with a fork, but had to break it into pieces and eat with fingers. This cost me £9.30! For a place that had a best cafe award in 2017 it was not their best moment by far. I certainly will not return.

Locals heaved a sigh of relief when Maria opened Fig & Olive Cafe. Not only is she a wonderful, educated woman, a great wife, and mother (all attributes that contribute to her well-deserved success), she is an excellent and inspired cook. There is nowhere else in the area that you can guarantee that everything that arrives on your plate has been thoughtfully produced from the very best ingredients. The menu features dishes of homemade granola with fresh berries, yoghurt and lime, quinoa burgers and delicious wraps, chocolate brownies with the surprise ingredient of beetroot - all of them absolutely delicious. Maria has attracted the best staff too - always smiling and friendly, they know the regulars by name and can anticipate exactly what you would like before you have the chance to check out the ever-evolving menu on the tables or the chalkboard behind the counter. The coffee was a bit stewed, but everything else excellent, the more so for being unexpected in this rather traditional town. Highly recommended.

Been a few times, absolutely the best place for lunch, interesting menu, good coffee (I am a barista myself, so very picky!) and nice atmosphere. The staff are making this a lovely place, well worth the extra few steps to the fringes of town.

Wonderful hidden gem. Beautiful fresh local food. Best breakfast, fantastic eggs with hollandaise and fresh Scottish bacon. The best coffee in the UK, as good as any in Melbourne. Worth visit for wonderful salads. Comfort food, cakes and hot chocolate. Well done , Mike and Maria.

Good food and service. Would recommend for a nice bite to eat and drink. When I had a bit of a coughing fit they brought over a bottle of water and a glass without having to be asked.

The staff were patient as friends arrived in drips and drabs. We all had the home made quiche and the three different salads. All tasted wonderful. We had no room for sweet but they looked delicious. I will definitely be back to sample other foods on offer.

We met to have a light lunch with friends, the food was so tempting that I didn’t need a desert, unlike the rest of our group. I wasn’t that well behaved as pancakes with bacon and maple syrup is a three course meal on its own!

Never one to resist cake, we came for lunch due to the positive reviews & impressive cake display. We shared the lentil & spinach soup (which they helpfully split into two bowls) with amazingly soft fresh bread & butter. We each had the Gourmet sandwich option (pork & chorizo flatbread with cabbage slaw, feta & salami focaccia) which weren't huge but tasty & decent value at £4.50. Then finally we opted for a divine slice of carrot cake which was incredibly moist & fluffy, & a slice of gingerbread loaf cake which I found a bit dense. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the loaf cake slice was a bit stingey, it was 1cm thick at most, with the bottom being half that. The food & service overall was great though.

Well I didn’t expect to find this little gem of a place in Stranraer! I had walked from Portpatrick to Stranraer and was ready for brunch when I stumbled upon the Fig & Olive. What a fantastic place. I’m vegetarian so was very happy to find somewhere that caters so well to my diet. I had the avocado toast for breakfast which was delicious. I wasn’t over keen on the coffee - very fruity in my opinion, I prefer a darker roast but that’s just my taste.

Just had the loviest brunch. My husband and I have eaten here a several times over past week and continue to be delighted by the wonderful taste sensations offered. We keep coming back for the amazing Eggs Benedict, housemade savoury tart, to delightful cakes. The Hollandaise is perfect, made to order, as was everything we tried. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and always there to help. The coffee is beautiful, the best I have had whilst visiting Scotland, in fact as good as any I've had in Melbourne. Fig & Olive cafe is a real gem. Good luck

Stopped in Moffat en route to Glasgow on business. Unfortunately,I had the misfortune to be served by an extremely unfriendly and unhelpful sales assistant. This type of person used to be know as a chav. Whoever owns the business needs to be more careful who they hire. The sandwich wasn't even third rate and ended up in the bin. Take my advice give this bakers a miss.

Is it ok for a hospitality business not to take any details from customers during this time I think this is very irresponsible and I do hope no one has the virus and just carries on passing it because this business does not care, not one member of staff had a mask on and members of the public could go behind the bar and serve customers if the staff where busy
