Sticks'n'Sushi - Canary Wharf in Tower Hamlets

I’ve heard of this place & see it pop up on Delivery apps, so we decided to give it a go. I tell you what, we were delightful surprised. You get little lemongrass perfumed hot towels (what a fantastic little touch). The menus have images of the food which makes it so much easier to order. Our waiter was very attentive & helpful. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food, wow, what flavours & presentation. Honestly I was full but I wanted to order more. Everything on that menu is BANGING. You must try.

The food here is full of flavours and made well. We went for one of the set meals. Not too pricey and great service. We came on a Monday evening and it wasn't too busy. Will definitely come here again with more friends.

We've visited this branch and others of S&S, and since Canary Wharf is our local spot, we've been here a few times. The food consistently impresses, and the menu keeps things interesting with occasional changes. The staff is attentive, ensuring quick service. While I used to enjoy their selection of Craft Japanese beers, it seems they've shifted focus to more mainstream brands available in most supermarkets. Nevertheless, we highly recommend S&S for a great dining experience!

Being there a few times, the food is great. The restaurant is usually busy but the atmosphere is good. Even though it seems they have a lot of staff, the service is very slow. A bit expensive but the food worth it.

The service was delayed and the sticks were a bit over cooked. Sushi was all right too. Sashimi was the best of all. I have surely had a better dining experience at sticks n sushi in central london as compared to this particular spot and time.

My wife and I visited the restaurant for dinner. We engaged in a conversation with the server that many would consider offensive. Consequently, we decided to cancel our order and leave. Even after two years, the encounter lingers in my thoughts, prompting me to share this review. I hope something changes after this review.

As of today this is my all time favourite restaurant. I’ve been here 3 times and each time has never failed to impress. But today was just the cherry on the cake and solidified my view. The service wasn’t the best today, the waiter came to take our order, we ordered water but he never returned. Maybe he got lost in a parallel universe. Luckily a different waiter served us and did bring us the water (in mini glasses). We downed it and asked for more and a lady brought us a jug, filled our mini glasses and hoarded the jug with her. I guess maybe tap water is expensive during this economical crisis.. Anyway, food wise I cannot fault it. The food does arrive at different times so a little annoying if you want to get some instagramable food pics but this is what we ordered. •Salmon tartare - fresh, flavoursome and moreish •Mini maki maki - decent value - £26 for 16 rolls (4 variations) was fresh and good quality •Truffle parmesan balls (specials) - I died these were insane •crab on crackers (specials) - again amazing Previously I have tried various sticks and other variations of sushi which has always been fresh and flavoursome. Watch out SnS, I’m coming back to try everything on the menu. Obesity, I’m ready for you.

Great food, service, drinks options. Something for everyone. Looks deceptively small from the outside. It’s a big place with a nice bar area with full service. Would visit again.

Nice sushi restaurant, however, didn’t particularly enjoy the makimaki, but it’s just me I’m sure. Should have ordered the plain sushi and sashimi instead of the flavoured maki. The waitresses were friendly but not chatting with us due to the fact it’s a chained restaurant - busy. Other than that would return for the old style sushi not the fusion flavoured maki.

The lighting is dark, murky and squalid , and very depressing compared to what it used to be a few years ago before lockdown. Lighting and atmosphere looks likes dark, grim warehouse in a war torn country. They got rid of popular items on the menu that made it stand apart. The quality generally has deteriorted. Before it was very good and I used to go all the time but now go to other places with better ambiance and better food

Overall it was a great experience. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, the food tasted amazing, and there wasn't much of a wait either for the food. The atmosphere and aesthetic are great, it's not a surprise that it's very popular, it can be difficult to get a table so recommend booking ahead.

By far my favourite restaurant, they always look after me and everything is so good! The sushi, is the best I've had, wayyy better than ROKA. The hot food is fantastic too... I recommend the plum wine, if you like sweet wine x

I went to Stick'n'Sushi Canary Wharf recently and had a great time. I've been there a couple of times and it never disappoints me. They have a great variety of dishes, but I always go for the seaweed salad, prawn ebi bites, and nanban uramaki. The staff is super friendly and the service is great!

Waiters were very attentive and kind. For my starter I ordered Salmon, on its own it wasn’t too great but with the sauce it was very tasty (which is kind of the point!) on the side there was some vegetable it was nice. I also ordered a non alcoholic spirit beverage. While I appreciated the attentiveness to presentation it reminded me too much of actual alcohol & since I quit drinking it didn’t taste very good to me but that’s okay ☺️ After, I ordered nigiri. I’ve never had it before but I wasn’t really a fan of it. I did eat the omelette which was decent. I let the waiter know I wanted to order something else since my tastebuds didn’t agree with the nigiri, I think one of the chefs/waiters came to me after I ordered the meat sticks & prawn (which were delicious) and asked me if they could do anything for me and offered it on the house which I refused because the chefs work hard to do what they do so I’m not going to take it on the house :( lastly I had mango, strawberry and chocolate sorbet which was very good. When I got my bill the staff then said my dessert was on the house and at that point I couldn’t say no 😂 will definitely come back but will try and order things I know I’d probably eat.

Definitely one of the best sushi I’ve ever had. This is my must-go when I am seeing Sticks’n’Sushi around. Can’t lie, quite expensive, but definitely worth it. Tried all the sushi from the menu, my favourite will always be Ebi Panko (funny name for Russian speaking people) and the ones with chicken. Every time I go to Sticks’n’Sushi feels like sushi are decreasing in size 😂 But I am still going when I need to think fast about something extremely delicious, and different menu items. I already showed this place to all of my friends and family and no one was disappointed. They have awesome cocktails and mocktails (tried these all) and their flavours are so unique. Now I wanna go there again after remembering the taste 😂 Service is always 10/10, best stuff in any address, always clean, tasty and atmospheric. One of my favourite places to go for a lunch in London. Definitely recommend going to anyone. If you aren’t a sushi fan, there are a lot of different options to go for, which are amazing as well. Also quite a lot of things for vegetarians! And don’t thank me, their green tea… This is love! Thank you Sticks’n’Sushi for always the best ever experience ❤️

Such an awful experience! Terrible service and poor quality food. We reserved a table for 7.30 to be then be later told that last orders would be at 7.45. I asked why customers are allowed to then reserve a table for 7.30, waitress responded saying that it was their booking system and not their fault. We then had to quickly order, once the food came we were then told whilst that we have to leave by 9pm because store would be closing. To make matters worse, the waitress came whilst we were eating to pay the bill and basically told to hurry up and eat and leave. She kept reminding us that store would be closing at 9. I asked to speak to the manager but no one came. Such a terrible experience - it ruined our whole evening. Would never recommend anyone visiting this store.

The service was fantastic, the food was mediocre and didn't feel like it was good value for money. The cocktails are mocktails weren't great either. I think the only thing we really liked was the crispy chicken. Our bill was £120 and we left pretty disappointed.

Severe food poisoning after eating their take away. I suspect beef tataki. Got the food poisoning twice from Canary Wharf branch specifically. First time gave them a benefit of the doubt, second time it’s sure. Be aware!

Nice sushi place, not badly priced like some

Atmosphere was great and the service was outstanding. There was 7 of us who had a selection of food from across the menu, all of which was sublime 🍱 Added bonus is that they are child friendly, my twin boys love sushi, and the kids menu catered for their needs perfectly. I would highly recommend this place and will look to go back when in the area next.

My daughter has been addicted to this place since she was 10 years old. She loves their food so very much!

Ordered a delivery at 8am for my wifes birthday so the food arrives at 6pm. Unfortunately after 6pm i gave the branch a call who told me that my order was charged for but wasn’t prescribed correctly on their system. They told me they will make the food asap and send it on its way. I called them back at 7pm to ask for an update and i was told they are unable to find a driver. 10 mins later i got a call updating me saying there is a driver 6 mins away and my food will be delivered 2 hours after i wanted it. I got a call back 30 mins later to then let me know that there isn’t no driver and my order will be cancelled and refunded tomorrow. Really poor service for something i organised 12 hours in advance. This was so poorly managed and i will never visit this branch or wouldn’t recommend it as their customer service was so poor for a regular visitor and will honestly say they ruined my wifes birthday who loves this place.

I came here a couple years ago and recently got a takeaway too! The place is truly amazing, the best sushi I've had - I cannot recommend the Mixed Emotions set meal enough. It lets you try delicious sushi as well as the famous sticks!

Storm Ciaran could not stop this epic team. The private jet menu is insane ; lobster croquettes & bisque, hotate ceviche, wagyu temaki, soft shell crab sushi & wagyu yaki are just some of the dishes!

The food was really good - especially that from the "stick" menu. The sushi was also lovely and fresh, and the staff were great. In hindsight, I wish we'd ordered less (or no) starters and gone straight to the sticks and the sushi as both of those outshine the starter menu, but at least we know for next time!

The Secreto Iberico was brilliant. Definitely recommend Salmon as the best of the sashimi.

I really like Japanese food, but I love the Japanese/Danish fusion even better. Sticks’n’Sushi has great atmosphere, great service and awesome food. Visited several times now and they remain as impressive as they were my first visit.

Outstanding sushi, excellent balance of flavours, fresh fish and interesting sauces. Menu varies less than one would expect, but quite extensive, so definitely worth going a few times. Would recommend the chirashi, makes you wonder all the time you have lost not having a proper Poké before. Always had great service.

Watch out for the food portion! We have four people and ordered Perfect Day and Carpe Diem which are meant for 2 people each. The presentation was gorgeous, just like the photos on the menu but we couldn’t finish the food. seafood was fresh and taste. Love the place.

I ve been there a few times now. Very busy on saturdays, as per always as the food is very good. Price wise about £80per head. The service got only 3 out of 5 because: little niggles about service being a little factory fashion production line...no personal touch...but to top it up ... our table was "wiped" with a cloth that must had been dirty. Or they spread the dirt all over the table, it stank- so we didnt get desserts but left instead.

Great place for modern sushi. This isn’t a traditional Japanese restaurant but more of a fusion with sharing plates. The food is always fresh and a little pricy, but excellent service and beautiful cocktails 🍹. Also, mocktails, lemonade and tea are served with a selection of desserts. They also pack their deliveries uncommonly well.

A usual haunt for me and my Uni friend and its usually on a weekend we will meet at the Canary Wharf branch, every 6 months or so. This visit the service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the spicy edamame and the truffle broccoli as starters which were both good. We ordered the Hells Kitchen sushi which was yum. The sushi was Tempura shrimp, avocado & spicy sauce, topped with tuna. The Jungle Fish salad was good. Very filling and generous portions of seared tuna, salmon and shrimp. All the food was good. I felt that the the sushi was slightly overpriced as were the edamame. But it was overall good food and service.

Sticks n Sushi in Canary Wharf was a restaurant experience that left much to be desired. Despite the initial excitement of securing a table at 8:15 pm in a bustling establishment, the overall impression was far from satisfactory. On the positive side, we were promptly seated, and the staff's offer of sparkling water was a nice touch. However, the complexities of the menu were immediately evident. The vast array of options was overwhelming, compounded by the use of small fonts in the menu, making it a struggle to decipher the descriptions. I even contemplated asking for a larger font menu, but I refrained from doing so, not wanting to be a bother. It took us a while to decide on our order, as the pre-planned menus seemed excessive for our preferences. Once we placed our orders, we were provided with microwaved hot towels, presumably for refreshment or to enhance the sense of sophistication. I couldn't help but make a playful comment, pretending we were taking off with an "inflight hot towel." While this added a moment of humor, it didn't necessarily set the tone for a memorable dining experience. Our culinary journey began with the Ebi bites, which were unfortunately lackluster. The prawn flavor was nearly absent, overshadowed by an excessive amount of mayonnaise. While the mayonnaise itself was enjoyable, it overwhelmed the dish to the point where it became mayo-centric, rather than showcasing the delicate taste of prawns. Even the garnish of chili and spring onion failed to contribute any significant flavor. At this point, it seemed that a simple prawn toast might have been a better choice, as it would have allowed the prawn flavor to shine through. Moving on to the Inari, it was a departure from the typical sushi experience. The sweet rice filling in tofu pockets reminded me more of an Indian dessert rice dish rather than a satisfying sushi option. It left me craving for a more traditional and balanced flavor profile. The Maguro, on the other hand, had some hints of tuna flavor, although it was rather mild and failed to elevate the sushi as it should have. It fell short of expectations. The Hotate Yaki was equally disappointing, as the scallops were hardly discernible amidst the abundance of rice. This was a missed opportunity to showcase the delicious seared scallops. Overall, the Nigiri offerings did not justify their price. I have encountered better sushi at more budget-friendly establishments, and I would even venture to say that M&S's sushi surpasses this experience in terms of taste and value. The Tsukune sticks provided a reprieve from the lackluster Nigiri, as they had a distinct chicken taste. However, the overpowering salty teriyaki sauce limited the enjoyment. Ordering more than one stick per person was discouraged due to its saltiness, and it lacked the depth of flavor one would expect from chicken thighs. The dessert offerings, the Gateau Marcel and White Chocolate Pannacotta, continued the trend of disappointments. The Gateau Marcel, advertised with chocolate pearls, lacked genuine chocolate flavor, tasting more like overly sweet American candies. It was excessively sweet and failed to live up to the reputation of a true Gateau Marcel cake. Similarly, the White Chocolate Pannacotta lacked the expected white chocolate essence, delivering yet another sugary dessert without nuanced flavors. In summary, the service was rated at 3 out of 5, reflecting the staff's attentiveness and promptness. However, the food was sorely disappointing, earning a dismal 1.1 out of 5. The overall experience was disappointing, with a final rating of 1 out of 5. The high prices were not justified by the quality of the cuisine, leaving me with a sense of regret and disappointment. Would I return to Sticks n Sushi in Canary Wharf ? Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding no. The restaurant seemed to prioritize aesthetics and ambiance over the quality of ingredients and culinary execution.

The beef tataki what a level of tender meat and super delicious sauce The scallops wow so well cook and the flavours fly and rolls incredible meat was a bit delate but we can wait :) ahhhh don’t forget the wine ufffff :) I want to post some photos I can’t why ?

I have just arrived, 10mins in and wine has been delivered and food order taken! Talk about SERVICE! We didn't even book and for a Monday evening, they are nicely busy. Great atmosphere and so welcoming when you arrive - 10 stars! I can tell by the open kitchen, the food will not disappoint.

Acceptable don’t go to late as they will rush you out

Food is ok but the staff is horrible. I asked for my Sprite zero to come together with the food, in order for it to stay cold but the waiter was looking at me like if I asked him something he never heard before! He then complained that as different dishes would come at different times he did not know how to handle my sprite! He could not get on its own that he had to take my Sprite along with the first serving, I had to tell him. Later on I asked for a second Sprite zero and the same waiter purposely brought me a completely hot one on August 4.
