Popped in for a Friday night. Food was so tasty and the staff lovely; it was a really enjoyable evening. Looking forward to another visit.

Food was amazing, atmosphere was welcoming and cosy. Staff very polite and owner very interested in his customers. Gluten free available which was great for me as I can’t normally enjoy Italian due to gluten free not being available. Overall very nice owner, great place and value for money. Up there with the best Italian food available!

Valentines night. We were put in a very small corner alcove with hardly any room to move. Very noisy customers around us. When I booked they didn't tell me it was a set menu £35 each so spent more than we planned to. No lasagne on menu. The food we had was nice and staff were pleasant. We won't return again.

We had a great meal in Stephanos as a family group. We were in Cardiff for the rugby and there was a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Food was excellent, good service, we would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Lovely small restaurant that was very welcoming and spotlessly clean. Good choice of meals and drinks. Good table service and the meals arrived quickly and were just as described. We had the chicken but it doesn't come with anything so you do have to order extra sides. We had Sautéed potatoes very nice! Definitely look forward to going back.

Quiet Thursday night, didn't book, just turned up and no problems. Good food - pizza was very good. Really affordable.

did a booking online (via google maps app). Turned up at 6.30 on Saturday night and he didn't have the booking but did have a table outside he could put us on. I asked for gnocchi and a side salad. The food and service were both amazing.

Incredibly cheap £10 for adult Spag Bol etc. 8 of us had a variety of meals, including pizza, pasta. I had lemon garlic seabass with rosemary potatoes £16, which was a very decent portion. Very friendly local restaurant that we need to look after and make sure they survive these tough times. 💪

Beautiful authentic little Italian. For starters we ordered the Nduja bruschetta, calamari and the special: fried courgettes with ricotta. Everything was absolutely delicious, the Nduja was amazing. For main we had a mushroom risotto, pizza with Nduja and chilli and pasta with Nduja and aubergine. Absolutely faultless. Didn’t expect to find a little slice of Italy in Cardiff!

Born and bred in Cardiff and walked along Romily Cresent many times past Stefanos. As an anniversary treat I decided to surprise my partner with what hoped would be a romantic meal for 2…. We were not disappointed 👏👏 As you enter the restaurant it opens up to beautiful light restaurant on 2 levels with an authentic Italian feel. The menu is simple and very well priced, with many gluten free options which my partner choose. The service was exemplary, attentive but not over powering. The meals were outstanding, perfectly presented and delicious. It’s now our favourite restaurant and we can’t wait to visit again very soon.

The atmosphere, service, and food are great! We got the tasting menu with the wine pairing. It's ALOT of money to spend on not a lot of food. However, the long tasting menu is the way to go, and if you do drink, the wine pairings were excellent. I can say, we didn't leave hungry despite the small tasters, most likely because of how many there are! And how good they taste! and there was ample time to enjoy the bits of food and drinks and have a lovely chat.

Magic on a quiet Monday night, we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary today the 4th September 1993 at Stefano’s and had a wonderful experience. The food was just fantastic, our table just perfect and the service superb !!! Thank you Mario and we will see you again soon. Tony & Helen x

5 of us had a great meal here last weekend. The service was fab and they catered easily to the gluten free in our party. The food was all delicious and really well priced. Can’t wait to come again!

This has been one of the best experiences for me and my partner for a nice little date all the staff were super helpful and lovely. They were incredibly accommodating and cannot recommend enough if you love good food and good atmosphere come here.

We went here for my husband's special birthday(90). The food was fresh and fabulous. I had scallops that were sweet and cooked to perfection 'on point'. My husband had a rich pate served with toasted bread and garnish. Both basa and monkfish were lovely with minted peas, sauted potatoes and fresh asparagus. Evening topped off with strawberries and ice cream and made even more special with a sparkler delivery, limoncello and lovely staff team. Thankyou Mario. Would recommend as wide choices for every palate.

I’ve lived in Cardiff for many years and seen this restaurant but never visited. On an impulse we went there for a birthday celebration and were very happy we did. It took us a while to get familiarised with the menu format but eventually we ordered and we were all very happy with our choices. I particularly loved the stuffed courgette flowers for my starter and my husband’s calamari (which I helped myself to) was delicious. My gamberoni with spinach, garlic and tomato sauce was wolfed down. Main courses were equally appreciated as was the affogato for dessert. We will definitely return.

Simply the worst and most expensive Pizza I had to eat in an Italian restaurant!! The service was nice and the terrace were nice. I should have gone with the pasta which looked much nicer.

My husband took me to the restaurant for my Birthday the starters where nice mixed antipasti. But when the main course came I ordered chicken wrapped in ham then had to order chips as a side order my husband ordered sea bass also having to order a side order of salad my main came no garnish no vegetables just the chips I had to order as a side and when I tried some of the main the sauce it was so salty I could not eat it I commented to the waitress who changed it for chicken in white wine sauce by this time my husband had eaten his main. The second piece of chicken I was given in the white sauce was tough and had no seasoning what so ever just bland. When my husband commented at the end the chef said it was salty because of the ham it was wrapped in but also my husband commented that his sea bass was burnt on the bottom the chef said it was cooked like that so the bottom was crispy but it was black! sadly I was really disappointed with the whole experience of which should have been a lovely Birthday meal out.

This place has such a great vibe, lovely service and delicious food and wine.

Every time I've visited Stefano's the food, atmosphere and staff is always 5*. The menu has so much choice, reasonably priced and delicious. Wine is great too. Me and my partner live nearby and always visit when we can - definitely our favourite restaurant in Cardiff and 100% worth a visit for delicious authentic Italian food and wonderful attentive service.

Lovely evening to celebrate our daughter’s engagement. Restaurant a little quiet for a Friday evening but that meant we could talk and laugh and not disturb anyone! Service from Mario and Simone was first class. Loved the authenticity and conversations about Italy. All food was freshly made and delicious. The ravioli is to die for! I’ve had this on my last three visits! and then there was the Amarone…… why drink one bottle when you can drink two! I disgraced myself by insisting on rounding off the evening with Grappa shots!

Amazing atmosphere, food and wine. The small meal options are such a good idea as we tried 4/5 different meals and enjoyed the variety. The staff are so polite, friendly and professional Stefano is welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Booked food for a birthday, despite really attentive staff and amazing food, we were sat on effectively two separate tables having booked a large party. Disappointing since I had booked far in advance and paid over £80 deposit. Unfortunately ruined a potentially lovely evening, had...

It would have been amazing if not for rude service we got on my birthday! Should I say celebration was ruined after. I have booked a table - firstly they couldn't find the booking in forever, rudely said to me "well it doesn't look like you booked does it?". Then they tried to make us sit outside. Again, very cold outside, and I understand the inside tables are for reservations- but then let's find it. OK, after I looked through their reservation book, I found my name and with a sight from the waiter (there was honestly no need for that!) we proceeded to the table. I also asked whether we could order a little bit now, and a bit later - and I was told "no, as imagine if everyone does it". Well, if you think I am a fortune teller and would know how feeling the starter is (cause in some places they are massive) you are wrong. After that, tbh, I was about to stand up and leave, but felt not appropriate to behave like this for my guests. Thus we had the main course (not bad, but nothing special), and left without a dessert as I was just not feeling like I am welcomed there.

The one star I have given is no reflection on the great staff and (mostly) food and drink at this restaurant. I went with the wife and two guests on Saturday evening. A minor issue with the quality of the pork dish I had was...

We came on a last minute booking, and had the most amazing food. Took the recommendation from the owner and had Home made ravioli with wild mushroom and pancetta. So good. Such a lovely atmosphere and super friendly staff. We'll definitely be back soon!

A superb authentic Italian restaurant. Loved it here. Last night was the first time we’ve been there ( table of 5 ) Such a great atmosphere, all food is homemade and superb, a proper taste of Italy. Edit: Just been back after two years and it is still the wonderful place for the perfect dinner. Come here for your date night and every time you feel you need a treat. Take your time to choose from the menu and daily specials and treat yourself. Previous experience : Wonderful place to have a literally perfect dinner. Took our daughters to Stefanos last night for their birthday, they are 11 and 14 and LOVE Italian food (much like me) The service was attentive, personal, and gregarious, this was only matched by the food which was delicious and rustic and authentic in nature....

Stefano's does what it says on the tin. It's a charming, family-run restaurant, food is tasty and staff are friendly. Great for when you fancy a big bowl of pasta and a bottle of red wine.

I cannot tell you how fantastic this restaurant is. Their service is above and beyond. You will be made to feel so welcome, with fabulous authentic Italian food.

Booked this restaurant as it was close to where we were staying. It is a little gem. The staff are friendly and welcoming, it is comfortable in pleasant surroundings, the atmosphere is lovely. There is a very good menu and the food is excellent. It is very reasonably priced. Overall we had a very pleasant evening

I’ve rated Stefano’s as four stars. But to be honest, although it’s definitely better than “average” it’s not not “very good”. I think Trip Advisor ratings tend to be a bit all or nothing. Anyway, we had a good time. It’s a very honest, traditional Italian restaurant, with a friendly team and a lively atmosphere. We went on the night of the Wales v Springboks game, so it was really humming. My Sicilian vino Rosso was good and very reasonably priced at £18 a bottle. The calamari was good but my carbonara was a little weird - tasty but very heavy on the olive oil. The antipasto was fine if a little tame, with the emphasis on artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and cold meats. Again, maybe a bit too oily. So, thinking again about my rating, it’s the right one. We were made to feel very welcome, the atmosphere was great and the prices were fair. You can easily have a lovely time at Stefano’s.

We just happen to come across this Italian while looking at another couple of well known restaurant on this road. (Which we had eaten in before). The Italian menu attracted attracted us mote than anywhere.Dishes enjoyed were fried squid (with very little batter so points scored there), scallops, chicken and venison dishes. Great service and banter.We’ll be back.

We dined here one evening while staying in Cardiff. There was a great atmosphere, and the food was delicious, we shared 2 starters, then we both had the wild mushroom risotto, plus desserts. I can recommend eating at Stefano's.

Whilst in my opinion, the new menu is not as varied or extensive as the previous, the food is still very good. However, when the bill arrived, we could not get the bill to add to the total sum. Querying it, we were told that 10% service charge had been added in! I'm sure that somewhere on their menu cards it will probably say that 10% will be added, but i do wonder how many people like me, miss it and then tip as well???

Perfect find. Small plate menu was a joy. 5 plates was just right for us and the choice was spot on and really tasty. Room for dessert that didn't disappoint. Really welcomed the help with choosing a wine. The service was not intrusive but there when you needed it. The atmosphere was great, convivial but not intrusive. Needless to say that this has become our favourite Italian restaurant in Cardiff.

I am so so happy to have met stefano and being vegan it’s not easy to find good food but , stefano was amazing and the pizza was out of this world . The wine was delightful . Davvero grazie Mille .

Our family of 4 visited for our wedding anniversary. On entering we were warmly greeted and seated to our table. We ordered some starters, pasta and pizzas, wine, juices and beers. I have to say the food was all of excellent quality. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. The only thing that tainted our visit was the price of our drinks; a children’s juice costing £3.50 and a 330ml Peroni costing £4.50. Overall we enjoyed our visit, but would hope drinks prices could be reviewed to make this a perfect and frequent venue for us.

Went to Stephanos on Tuesday night. We sat out front under their lovely canopy and the atmosphere was good. We were informed that the kitchen closes at 9pm , so we ordered straight away. The pollo ripieno - tough as a boot, floating in what seemed badly flavoured gloopy cornflour and the chef must be allergic to garlic. Saute potatoes were cooked the day before it seemed. The asparagus was lovely and the calamari was edible. However when we were still eating, any table that left was promptly cleaned and stacked with no regard. The long and short we left the meal behind us and had to pay £64 for the experience. A new chef with a good palett.....or any taste at all would be a good idea and wait for your customers to leave before you stack and sweep all around them..........we are paying for this. Change it around or you will be out of business by the end of the year

We booked a table and glad we did. Beautiful small rustic Italian restaurant. We sat outside in the sun, which was lovely. We shared bread for starters which came with oil, balsamic and breadsticks; and then both had lasagna, my husband had chips and I had rosemary potatoes with mine. Great sized portions and very yummy! My lasagna probably could have been hotter but I just ate quicker! Food very reasonable, drinks expensive. Staff very attentive and quick service- would recommend to others if visiting the area.

Food was mediocre, service was slow, waitress cudn't care less. Prices are extortionate, just because it's Pontcana. Far better places around.

I had the most amazing night with my partner at Stefano’s. I can’t recommend this place enough. The food is absolutely AMAZING and really decent price. Such a wide variety on the menu and good for anyone who’s Gluten Free like me as they have GF pasta and pizza! I felt like I was in Italy! The whole meal was competently cooked and presented, but it all needed to be more “special” - tastier - and portions needed to be more generous.The small portions of veg with my sea bass were also a little boring - the peas, for example, should have been minted.I did not feel I experienced good, generous Italian hospitality - nor did I feel I received good value for money.However, I want this review to be fair.I telephoned the restaurant before I received the food and was very pleased with the way Bianca and the chef accommodated my gluten-free and sauté potato requests.As a former chef, I can tell that the chef at this popular family restaurant can obviously cook.It’s just the whole meal needed to be a bit tastier - and bigger - to give the customer perceived value for money and the feeling that they are being ”well-fed” by Stefano’s. (PS Please get rid of those horrible, cheap old-fashioned, takeaway-style plastic boxes and replace them with something that would be more fitting for a good Italian restaurant.)

El estacionamiento es terrible en el área y aterrizó a unas pocas calles de distancia.Mi reserva estaba ahí para mí, lo cual fue bueno. Me llevaron a mi mesa y me dieron el menú. Es un menú encantador, tenía un trabajo para elegir lo que quería. Opté por pollo relleno de queso y hierbas, envuelto en jamón de palma en una salsa de vino tinto y cebolla, venía con papas, zanahorias, guisantes y frijoles. Hacía mucho calor. Todo estaba muy bien preparado. De postre comí tiramisú y un café con leche para terminar. Todo fue perfecto y el servicio fue realmente bueno. La dama y el caballero que me atendieron fueron muy atentos.Recomendaría comer aquí y si vuelvo a estar en la zona, definitivamente volvería.

Mi hija estuvo en casa por unos días desde la Isla de Wight y reservamos una mesa para 4 de nosotros aquí anoche (22 de agosto de 2020). Había leído muy buenas críticas y algunos amigos habían comido aquí y dijeron que era muy bueno, ¡y tenían razón! Desde el momento en que entramos nos quedamos impresionados, realmente auténtico restaurante italiano, el personal era muy amable y acogedor y Emma, nuestra camarera era encantadora, muy servicial y cortés. 2 de nosotros tuvimos el Pollo Ripieno y 2 de nosotros tuvimos la lubina, ambos platos de la tabla de ofertas especiales. Probé el Pollo Ripieno y estaba delicioso y nuestro mar era divino, todo era tan sabroso y cocinado a la perfección. Nuestras felicitaciones al chef, 10/10, gracias a todos por una velada tan agradable, ¡esperamos volver pronto!

Primera vez que visito a este italiano local como parte del plan de salir a comer para ayudar. Nos recibieron calurosamente y el personal fue agradable y atento en todo momento. Tuvimos un buen vino blanco y entrantes y platos principales (incluyendo risotto, lubina y ensaladas caprese) estaban bien servidos, sabrosos y bien presentados. ¡Los precios antes y después del descuento EOHO son muy razonables! El único inconveniente fue una larga espera para la factura, pero esto parecía coincidir con una gran cantidad de mesas recién sentadas, tan comprensible. Con mucho gusto volveríamos para una cena relajada.

Hemos pasado por este restaurante en muchísimas ocasiones, pensando que debíamos probarlo, pues esta noche lo hicimos. ¡Ojalá lo hubiéramos probado hace años! El personal fue atento y amable con todos, y la comida fue excelente. No podíamos quejarnos, incluso si hubiéramos querido (lo cual no hicimos). Recomiendo totalmente Stefano's para una excelente experiencia. Gracias.

Pésimo servicio. . . la mujer que nos atendió tuvo esa actitud desde el principio. Sin amabilidad ni ambiente acogedor. El vino es horrible. . . ácido y seco. El pollo no estaba cocido. . . estaba crudo en el medio. . . ¡muy peligroso! La pizza estaba horrible. . . más como pizza de tomate. . no hay suficiente queso y demasiada salsa de tomate. La pasta con langostinos no tiene sabor y está tan seca, no en una salsa como debe ser. Terminó costando 69 y fue horrible. Eso es con el pollo que también se quita de la cuenta. . . . ¡repugnante! ¡Nunca volveré aquí!

Cardiff is not short of a decent Italian, this is definitely in the top three. Pasta especially, is fantastic here. Service is also warm and friendly.

We visited a few a weeks ago. Great, tasty food and a warm welcome. The pizza with bolognese on and bruschetta were particularly good.

Specials menu at this restaurant is of average quality. I would recommend sticking to pasta and pizza menu choices as the specials are not good value for money. I had an extremely vinegary prawn Marie Rose sauce that I reported to the waiter and took no notice. Duck main course was ok. I’m afraid the friendly welcome does not compensate for the average food. I spent £50 a head for a 3 course meal and 2 drinks. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that offer fair better value for a spend of £50. Would recommend going to Bridgend restaurant for decent Italian food.
