Steak and Omelette in Plymouth

Use to visit the steak & omelette many years ago. So recently visited after a long absence. Delighted to find the quality of the food and standard of the service hasn't changed a bit. Will be visiting again soon.

Big group of us ate in S&O last night. It was amazing (as always). Chef was fantastic and took time to not only explain the cuts of meat on offer but also show off the quality. Everything cooked to perfection 👌 5 Stars

Great place for a meal. Medium rare was actually medium rare, cracking.

Had an early evening table for Mothers Day, on arrival the restaurant was pretty full, we were shown promptly to our table, which doesn't always happen in general as I'm in a wheelchair. Staff were very friendly and efficient, food was swift for it being so busy, and everything was very tasty, highlights were mums roast chicken and the garlic mushrooms which were perfect! Will definitely be back, thank you so mych to all!

Had dinner on a quiet Wednesday. Was very spontaneous and decided to try something new. My partner and I had the most amazing time. Service was incredible, you can go and see the steaks and desserts to decide what it is you want. The food was incredible. Steak was cooked perfectly and they are massive portions. We will be back! Thank you for an awesome evening.

Best steak I’ve ever had, great staff, was able to see the steaks (and deserts) before cooking and talk to the chief who was really friendly. Went up for a show which was postponed last minute, oh well will have to visit again.

I've visited this establishment a number of times over the past 7 or so years and have never failed to be impressed with every meal ordered. Their service is spectacular, with very friendly staff, relaxed ambiance and the food is sublime. I have introduced friends and family to this restaurant, and everyone agreed that they would return in the future. This restaurant does - in my humble opinion - the BEST pasta carbonara I have ever eaten - anywhere; I have never found a single restaurant than can make a carbonara that can beat the one made by Steak and Omelette. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Plymouth city centre, and highly recommended if you want delicious food, lovely atmosphere and great service.

An outstanding restaurant, Plymouth should be proud. We enjoyed an excellent meal here last night, with some of the best steak I've ever had, proper melt in the mouth. The service too, was excellent. Attentive, friendly, efficient and thoughtful. Particularly the delivery of the birthday cake to the table, coming around behind our daughter, so that she was totally surprised. Another lovely touch was arranging taxis, something frequently overlooked. I now have a great reason to return to Plymouth.

Food was amazing I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly, the service was amazing all the staff were lovely to talk to and asked about any occasions as it is nearly my birthday they sang happy birthday to me and brung out profiteroles with a candle I was so happy with everything and would definitely come here again

Not going again forgot to bring 5 of us our chips and still charged us for it, Waiter was swearing to himself right next to us, Told us afterwards there is a 10% Fee on every single item we order even tho it didn’t show us in the menu, Atmosphere was good but the food wasn’t as good as what we paid for, Definitely ain’t going again….

The food was lovely, steak was cooked well. Service was really nice and quick and although it is slightly on the expensive side it is definitely worth a visit. Not quite 5 stars but very close.

Oh my ♡♡ surprise 60th meal with all my family. X9 adults x6 children ♡♡ all our food was perfect and delicious, the staff/servers/service was faultless. They went out of their way to make this special day extra special. Thankyou Steak & Omelette so so much. ❤️ xx

Had a lovely meal here at the beginning ning of the month. All four of us had different steaks and they were perfectly cooked to out individual tastes. The fried onions were divine too. Will definitely be coming back.

Steaks were fantastic as were the prawn cocktails & sweets. Jusr failed the 5 stars as one of my guest was served a 'gone off' king prawn. But they did try to make good by not charging for that meal.

Surprisingly classic restaurant in the centre of Plymouth. Very good space management, you feel like you can breathe more than most restaurants that fit as many tables as possible in one spot. Service is very top quality accompanied with a warm demeanor from all the workers. The food is a nice portion and very good flavour. The price isn't expensive either. Unfortunately we made a pit stop to plymouth or i would definitely come back for some other things they had to offer. Including christmas special stuffing.

Haven't been here for a good many years, and then only once before .... so not the voice of experience although the previous visit was worth the 370 mile round trip - but can report the food and service is definitely a cut above. Not just the steaks that are definitely considerably better than you get at most other places, the omelettes are cracking and the starters we had (Calamari and Whitebait) also top notch. The desserts and coffes were properly presented and the service received was unquestioinably efficient and friendly. Not all that cheap but not outrageous and everything was top notch ... us two had starters, steaks with an extra small omelette, extra salad bowl and diet Pepsis, coffees and one small dessert and it came to over £120 but, for us, it was a bit of a special occasion and it was worth it and certainly aren't aren't complaining. Parking on a Friday lunchtime wasn't all that easy but after waiting got a space in a nearby car park. The place was jam packed at 1.30pm - but empty at 3pm. Overall opinion .... very well worth a visit but pick your time or maybe expect to wait a short time during peak times if no booking was made.

I had an cheese omelette and my wife and I had glasses of wine. All excellent. When we've revisited and sampled more from the menu I hope to give it straight 5 stars.

Wow! This was the best steak both my partner and I have had. Whilst on a weekend break in Plymouth we called at short notice and were lucky enough to get a table, definitely book in advance as it was packed the whole evening, the staff were friendly and attentive, great customer service is very appreciated. We had the calamari and halloumi fries which were incredible followed by a tbone and sirloin, both cooked to perfection. Even though we were full, we just couldn't resist the homemade desserts and finished with cheesecake and pavlova. We will be making a point of coming back to Plymouth again just to visit.

We dined here for a family celebration and it was wonderful. From the moment we walked in the staff were really welcoming friendly, attentive and gracious! The restaurant is really stylish and clean. Between us all we had starters, mains, puds and wobbly coffees. The kleftiko, steaks, mixed grills and cutlets were cooked perfectly, with plenty of chips, salad etc to share. Hot and very good quality. And as someone said the fried onion side was one to try and I am glad I did. It’s is no wonder this restaurant is one of Plymouth’s favourites. It’ll be nice to come and eat again here as a couple for a relaxed and cosy evening. Thank you for being amazing.

Had our Anniversary dinner. Food was cooked as I wanted. Sadly my wife had liver and it wasn't to good.

Food is always absolutely perfect, and trust the staff to tell you which cut should be cooked which way as they nail it every time!! Service is always perfect and they're all personable and lovely. The food is absolutely astonishing!! One point less for atmosphere only due to a group of "lads" who were incredibly drunk on our last visit on 21/10/23 who you could smell from our table. Normally this isn't the case and the staff handled them very well considering they got incredibly rowdy by the end of their visit and asked to leave. The atmosphere is normally as incredible as the rest! 10/10 every time!

Sat near door which when opened blew cold. Had a roast which was not the best. Steaks look amazing so wish had one of them instead.

It’s been ages since I paid a visit to this place but I’m really glad to see the food was as good as I always remember it. Service was really good too. The only thing I could fault was the bread wasn’t served hot but but the steaks and omelette were amazing. Five stars!

Absolutely brilliant, place to eat. Staff are very very very welcoming, always topping up your wine glass, if they think it is low, the food, is to die for. The steakes, and in particular, the Rump of Lamb, and their Lamb Cutlets, their Fillet Steaks, cooked by the Infomomis Josh, head chef, everything, is cooked to absolute, perfection. 💯. Great place to pop in for a late lunch/early evening meal. This place never disappoints and the staff are always pleasant and very welcoming. I would recommend making a reservation for an evening meal.

Been eating here since I was a young lad in a.the time I've been here I've never had a bad meal and always had a good time ..by far the best restaurant in Plymouth...shout out to Phil the waiter ...always puts a smile on my face and nothing is to much trouble...all staff are great

Well! Firstly the service was second to none! They couldn't do enough for you & smiles all round! The food is incredible our first time trying it tonight and it did not disappoint The chef was super relaxed and smiling all the way through the service while still managing to make the most melt in my mouth steak ove ever had! Went in 27th Aug 23 there was 6 of us plus my granddaughter and the service was excellent and the food wow perfect. They even got my granddaughter to eat most of her food. A very big thankyou to all the staff 🙏 😊

I recommend trying everything you can and if you like steak cooked to perfection, don't bother with miller and carter... They pale into insignificance when compared to the mighty Steak & Omelette. Our last night in the city during this visit happened to be on a Thursday, and we wanted to ensure it was a memorable one, so we chose the S&O. As always, it did not disappoint. For 5 generations, our family has cherished this establishment, gathering here for family reunions, birthdays, quick lunches, and many rounds of G&Ts since its opening in the 1960s. Needless to say, our love for it runs deep. The warm welcome we receive upon arrival always makes us feel at home, and the service is consistently cheerful, attentive, and caring. Philip, we miss you, but your colleagues are carrying on your legacy with pride! We started our meal with calamari, mussels, and scallops. Each dish was perfectly cooked, with tender calamari boasting a golden, crispy coating. The scallops were served on their actual shells, a testament to their freshness. The mussels, cooked in a cream and white wine sauce with a touch of fresh rosemary, were a delightful surprise. Despite having enjoyed mussels in various countries and restaurants, we had never experienced them with rosemary before, and it was a winning combination. Everything was absolutely delicious. For our main course, we decided to share the Côte de Boeuf among the three of us. Cooked to a perfect medium and accompanied by chips, peas, grilled tomatoes, and Al's Onions (a must-try!), it was a true and honest culinary dream. While various sauce options were available, I prefer my quality steak served simply. To complement our meal, we chose a Primitivo di Manduria (62 anniversario). Being fans of Primitivo, we were delighted by its exceptional quality and how well it paired with our food. In summary, it was yet another fantastic dinner at this genuinely friendly restaurant, with a front-of-house staff that truly takes care of you, and talented chefs (thank you, Josh!). We extend our gratitude to the entire team for never failing to impress. We can't wait to return home to Plymouth and indulge in the delights of the Steak & Omelette once again!

Just came here with my family, first time me having a steak. Service and food was amazing. Waiter was really friendly and welcoming. Definitely will be coming back and worth the money.

Simply the best Steak we have ever had! Staff were very helpful and friendly, we shared a Côte de Boeuf and it was stunning! For anyone new to this restaurant, do not forget to order Al’s onions, such a great compliment to the meal. Looking forward to our return, the best steakhouse in Plymouth.

Terrible, underage staff serving alcohol more peas than meat and the owner looks like roul moat with a bad trim and thats saying something, it bloody stunk the frozen peas with my steak was the most edible part if the meal

This is the place to be if you want a steak cooked yr way..been coming here for 35 years and nice to see a restaurant doing well..just have a ribeye 😁 yum 😋.as for photos,yeah right, I'm eating this bad boy not taking it out for the night.

I stayed in Plymouth for a couple of days, and my partner wanted to take me to the Steak and omelette. He's been here before and highly rates the place. Well, what can I say? The food was amazing. I personally am not a great...

I have to give this place full marks and rate it the best steak experience I have had so far. I came as a visitor to Plymouth whilst on vacation and also have experienced top steak houses such as in London and around the UK...

Fantastic staff, food was lovely, definitely would come back here. We had garlic mushrooms and hallumi fries to start then chicken stroganoff and steak for main. Steak was cooked beautifully and the chicken stroganoff was very tasty and full of flavour.

Took my mum for her birthday, All I can say is the food was 1st class and the wait service was all that you want, very attentive, fast and without being overbearing, our waiter was so funny as well, great banter, great food.......1st class

Felt the prices were a little bit high .

Really disappointed with the steaks, both were really dry and chewy. We asked for medium rare but both were over cooked. Presentation was nice but definitely overpriced for what they served. It was £3 to swap the chips to salad... ? Also £8 for only 2 large prawns to turn it into surf & turf was shocking!! I don't recommend this restaurant at all but at least the waitress was friendly. There are definitely cheaper places that do more quality & tastier steaks than here.
