Stanley Ferry in Wakefield

As long as I have known the Stanley ferry it has always been a great place to have a meal out with family and great veiw

Have to admit haven't eaten here so can't comment on the food but we found the place to be dirty and scruffy. The toilets were horrible, dirty and smelled disgusting.

Fantastic f and c.lunchtime. Come here for curry Wednesday which is also fantastic. Get a free beer included in price What's not to like. Great fast service using app Thank-you

Everything was great as always other than the toilets. Been coming for over 5 years now and toilets seems to get worse (both men's and woman's) The smell is disgusting and need a complete refurb

Nice pub on the the water edge, service shocking 1 person behind the bar on a bank holiday weekend 15 mins to get a drink 🍻 Specific details are that there was one person behind the bar serving drinks, this was on a bank holiday Sunday. It took 15 mins to get served and the que was getting longer

2nd time we've eaten here in a couple of weeks. Tonight 3 of us had some lovely food The Mixer Grill was great and I struggled to finish it. Very good service too, used the app which worked fine and drinks/food brought over swiftly. For a 'chain' pub this is very good. The pub is in a great setting and there are also some lovely canal walks right outside the door.

Amazing food at amazing value. Mains came out super quick. Service was fantastic the only thing that let it down was the 20 minute wait for mains to be cleared. Would come back and highly recommend!

Just got the last table late teatime on Sunday evening, ordered a roast each, bottle of nice red and a dessert. Great value, good service, nice staff, great food, relaxing finish to the weekend. Good job. Been many times always fab. Thank you guys.

Called in for a coffee and cake. Product and place very good but some of the staff need to sharpen up. We got our coffee, drank it and still hadn't received our cake. Went to the counter to ask about it and was told bluntly to wait!. Eventually it arrived and was delivered by a staff member who appeared unable to communicate?

Kevin has been absolutely fantastic, excellent customer service and made our evening even more special, definitely deserves recognition for his ability to be such an asset to the team

My Birthday today 69 years young, I always enjoy Green King pubs and ales and the Stanley doesn’t disappoint, lovely pub grub, lovely people great prices, can’t recommend enough thanks Stanley .

Food is good for the money, especially the crumble which was lovely! Good service too.

There's just something about being here you really have to go to feel what I'm talking about the atmosphere Is just beautiful only way I can describe it is calming the food is just fabulous we come most mornings for breakfast and I wouldn't go anywhere else 😉 they also have a amazing play area for thw children as well as seating with separate tellys you just can't go wrong here 💯 recommend 😀

Our starters were good except from the salt and pepper chicken strips they were bland and have no flavour….. mains were okay the chicken tikka chicken taste like rubber like a microwave meal and it still taste raw and then pudding came the two chocolate fudge cakes were dry and the kids jelly and ice cream well the jelly looked like water! I’m disappointed….id also like to add I think there needs to be a disclaimer put in place that you can only go to the bar if you know what you are ordering because I was stood in front of a woman who went to order but had no clue what she wanted and it’s a major waste of time if there are people behind you! I’m disappointed with the Stanley ferry as I have always loved going but today let it down ☹️

Really nice place to eat for families

It was very quiet when we went so that will account for the atmosphere score. The food was pretty good - very hot, plenty of it, but the main course was mostly fried, so not very healthy. The staff were nice and helpful, but they seemed short staffed so the desserts took a long time and had to be chased up. Wouldn't stop me going again and I'd still recommend a visit.

Took my Granddaughter to the pkay area she had a great time. I would definitely recommend it

The piece of steak that we had was full of gristle, the Indian dish was not the finest (Tikka maybe, not sure),lovely if you like peppers!! Service was great, nice clean place but won't be rushing back.....

It's not the best Hungry Horse in the franchise by a clear margin. My family uses this place regularly, so I thought I would give it a go. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed. Not very busy in arrival, yet every table had empty glasses or plates on them, even the one we decided to use had used glasses on from previous visitors drinks, these were still there when we left. We perused the menu and decided what we were going to eat as a group, I then went to the bar to order our meals and drinks as you would be expected to do. Order placed and drinks handed over. My sons glass was clearly cracked from top to bottom, so a replacement drink was requested immediately. The food arrived fairly quickly, so I assume it was cooked fresh to order. However, in the case of my plate, it was beyond cooked yo order and inedible. My brioche bun was blacker than coal from the former shafts over the canal, as was my burger. The fries were also overcooked considerably and had no real evidence of potato inside. This meal was sent back to give the chefs on shift a second chance at no doubt their expense. I was pleasantly surprised that the meal came out again fairly quickly and, this time, edible. Will I come here again? Not by personal choice, but seen as its my families new local, I am sure I will be coerced at some point. Staff need some serious training to improve the standards. The manager on shift needs to get out of his hoodie and engage with his team! The place is also in need of a refurb if it is to come close to any other hungry horse in the WF area.

Lovely food, good size portions and great atmosphere. Only negative is the number of staff behind the bar, or rather the lack of staff, means drinks and ordering food is very slow. Quality when it arrives, but slow to get here.

Food was spot on, didn't have to wait too long for food to be brought to the table and that was on a busy Sunday lunch time. Nice views of the marina

Food edible, but no wow factor. My sister had to tell them hers wasn't exactly as she had ordered, they took it away and brought it back with the missing bacon, and basically told her it was there all the time it was just underneath!!!

Had an early tea, so on the quiet side in the main bar. Food came quickly after ordering, unable to choose a window seat as they all had reserved on them? Wasn’t busy at 16:30.

Great value food. We had the 2 for .... pub classics. The portion was quite big enough for a lunchtime meal. Best bit.... the setting by the canal and on the transpeninine cycle way.

The roast dinner on the Sunday is well worth it. Really enjoyed and would recommend it. Shame they don't have the hand pulled bitters on, but that seems to be common on a lot of hungry horses. Owned by a brewery but never have their beer on. Strange. Well worth a visit though. Food, cost and atmosphere really good

Steak was over done but the staff were very quick to rectify & quickly brought me a correctly cooked med rare steak. They followed this up to check I was happy. Great service.

It's starting to look quite scruffy in places, doors to the toilet need repainting for example. Food was mediocre chain pub stuff, I paid extra for salt and pepper chips thinking they would be what you get in Chinese takeaways which is chips with peppers, chilli etc. What I got was their usual fried with an abundance of dry spice mix on that tasted a bit like Chinese 5 spice powder. They don't even come round to ask if everything is OK with the food anymore. It's local to where I was visiting but I doubt I'd be rushing back.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced absolutely disgusting

We went here for a boxing day meal altogether there was a party of 10 of us. The 1st 2 courses were correct and quite quick. The food was good. We waited ages for the dessert and eventually had to ask for it and we had to ask for the bill. One of the party didn't get his ice cream but got Christmas pudding instead!! My grandson who has a dairy allergy wanted crumble and vegan ice cream but they brought out custard and crumble!! Which incidentally happened earlier on this year with his vegan Ice cream. They brought normal!! The bill came and the lady said we have deducted the deposit, but when we checked the receipt they hadn't deducted it at all! Could have been a very expensive meal if we hadn't noticed.

I had the Katsu Chicken banquet and the wings were delicious but the sauce was slightly disappointing as it resembled a Chinese curry sauce rather than katsu. My grandparents on the other hand, experience pie eaters, chose to order the steak and ale pie. According to their well traveled palette it was one of the most extraordinary and exquisite pies of a lifetime. Plus with a price tag of £12 for two meals including chips and peas! You really can’t go wrong.

Our impromptu breakfast visit left a lasting positive impression. The Mega Breakfast, featuring 4 sausages, 4 bacon strips, 3 eggs, 3 hash browns, 2 toasts, baked beans, and mushrooms, offered both generous portions and remarkable value at just £9. The quality and taste of the meal added to its overall appeal. The drink options were equally impressive, ranging from soft drinks and coffee to an array of alcoholic beverages such as Beer, Wine and Cocktails, all reasonably priced. The staff, while most of our interaction occurred during the food delivery due to online ordering, exhibited friendliness and courtesy. In addition to the remarkable breakfast experience, Stanley Ferry further distinguishes itself with an extensive main menu offering a plethora of options to cater to diverse tastes. From savory delights to culinary specialties, the menu showcases a variety that ensures there's something for everyone. I come every Friday and I am always greeted by jade who is THE nicest person in the world. What a credit she is to your company. Always engaging with the children and so so helpful with absolutely everything. Really like this softplay for my 2 yo billy it's just the right size for him. Would like to see a night fiver meal deal on the lunch menu though

Always good food at great prices

Four friends meeting for breakfast. Booked a table for 9.30. this wasn't needed as we were the only customer's. The young lady serving us was very polite and we were seated quickly. Order taken and within a short time coffee brought to table and food followed . Food was hot as was the latte . This would be a lovely place in summer as you could sit and watch the boats on the canal. On a Tuesday in winter very quiet. There's lots of positives , large car park , a separate play area for children. Evening and weekends I expect to be busy. Food selection varied and reasonable. If you're out that way call in . My first visit but would call again.

As a rule it is genuinely a nice place to eat with our service user who are autistic adults but today was really bad we sat down went to order but 1 of our service users as a very strict diet and has to eat his own food we was refused to eat hereeven tho 5 adults were ordering so wentelse where the 1 off our services users left his water bottle we came back for it there is a young dark haired girl very abrupt and not nice customer service at all
