Beautiful rock and chips. Food cooked to order. The cod bites and mushy peas were very nice too. Very fresh, fast service. I would recommend.

The fried fish is delicious. It is fried cod that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fish is also very moist. Although the fish itself is relatively light, it goes well with tartar sauce and mayonnaise + pickled onions. The fries are not crispy. , but very soft and not dry. It goes well with the authentic British way of eating it - sprinkle with salt and add white vinegar. What’s more surprising is the green bean puree. I don’t like green beans very much, but I actually think the green bean puree is delicious. It doesn’t have any green bean flavor. It’s very similar to the refried beans in Mexican cuisine. I like it very much. There are also spicy fried chicken wings, which are British-style spicy and quite moist and flavorful.

Food was on point 10/10 friendly staff smiles all round. Love this place

Beautiful fresh fish I was offered the option to have my fish seasoned which was a plus. Had a lovely chat with the owner who is more than welcoming will visit again.

I'm stuck in, feeling unwell. A friend of mine went to get me chicken flat wings and chips from this chip shop. This chip shop never cease to disapoint me. I don't know how you are serving this food. It is actually like cardboard. The chicken and chips look and taste like they have been sitting around for hours. I'm sorry to say the food was abysmal. The star goes to my friend taking time and effort out of their day to support me through my illness.

(Updated nr. 3 today!) 1. Used to see quite a queue on Fridays years ago (previous owner(s)) and was told quite a few traveled quite a distance especially. No longer, really, see that nowadays but still busy enough. If chips are freshly made (and oil fresh) then decent (got served older chips a few times) and okay service. Interior always was and is dated (a.o. tiles). 2. Recently bought chips and they were fresh & good. Chips: 4 stars (when fresh & fresh oil). 3. Bought medium chips box (gbp. 3,— good price, our son could not eat them all) on the go and they were great so increased number of stars to 4. Chips maybe should be 4.5 stars when freshly fried in fresh oil. Maybe the interior should be updated.

First time trying the fish today via deliveroo. It arrived hot and crispy. I didn’t order chips as one normal portion is too much for me to eat but I nonetheless received a small free portion in my order. It was a really nice gesture and I have to say the chips were very good! Great meal, I’ll be back! :)

Chips are underdone 😢 you know when they still have the texture of potato rather than crispy, soft on the inside 👎🏼 box was soggy and floppy when we got it home and the price is higher isn’t really matching the “Standard” - Pun intended

Sausages wrapped with other items when allergic from different meals. So when you order one meal the club it together with others to save on the packaging. Says I should have specified at ordering that I wanted each meal separate . Very odd!

Came here with a couple of mates to grab some dinner after moving into the local area. Really friendly staff even though we came in quite late. Fish and chips were the best I’ve had in London, chips were perfect golden brown which is pretty rare these days. Standout is the sauces. Homemade tartare sauce is spot on and the curry sauce is irish style which is hard to find. Happy to make this my regular!

The lady at the till - I was served by 10 mins ago was so lovely and welcoming. The chips smell really good. I am excited to eat them. £3.50 for a large is fairly reasonable

Quality of food was good but very expensive, especially as chip portion was minuscule. Ordering process was slow and chaotic, customers who arrived after me were served first - it really shouldn’t take 20+ minutes to fry a piece of cod!

Used this chip shop for over 25years, always been lovely chips, and the only chip shop, you can get a bit of french stick, as a bread roll.

This place has the best fish & chips I’ve ever had. The cod is always crispy & has the skin on which adds to the flavour. The chips are crispy & well-cooked and don’t have the nasty chippy oil smell ever. The portions are huge, too.

Been living in this area for years!!! This was a friendly chip shop with long queues once! Now the new owners are not so friendly prices gone higher then any other local chip shop also found hair in my sons food and tiny poor quality overpriced fish!! Never again I now attend clean reasonably priced Seabream Fish Bar not far on shooters Hill much cleaner all wearing hair covers also and very friendly staff! I’m pleased to notice though that Standard chip shop no longer has long queues like it used too which is understandable!!

Staff need to learn how to speak to its customers. Also , they have different rules for different customers, they pick and choose who they want to give appropriate customer service to. Very weird experience !

The food is great, cheap prices and large portions. They made the food fresh in front of me, totally worth the 10 minute wait. However they're a little reluctant to take card payments and prefer cash, which is a little annoying, hence the lower rating. I was told that they're doing me a favour by letting me pay by card this time... but otherwise still nice to me otherwise.

Bit of a misunderstanding about paying by card ,as they prefer cash ,other than that the food was excellent and reasonably priced.

Really bad now it’s literally gone down hill The guys that own it now are not as friendly and over change deliberately. The food isn’t the same as it use to be me & my family Have been coming here 14 years now it’s just awful the re heat food in microwave and also the wings are disgusting they use to be spicy and very nice now just dry and chewy they need to sort it out as I’m not the only one complaining so many Blackheath residents are so disappointed

15/12/21 Tonight i had cod and chips 5 onion rigs and a leg of chicken i have always liked thiss fish shop untill tonight the fish was swimming in grease, the chicken was tough,and the onion rings were clealy re fired very upset about this will not go there again. (SORRY)

It's ridiculous that this place refuses to enter 21st century by taking card payments.

I have eaten here a couple of times and normally just go for chicken wings, saveloy and chips. I've just tried their cod and chips which at first I thought was a little expensive. However, the cod I received had huge flakes (the size of 3 50p pieces) and was delicious. Lovely batter which wasn't greasy and haven't been able to find a decent piece of cod like this anywhere in years. Well worth the money and would recommend to anyone it's a must try. Staff very friendly too which is always a bonus.

They do not accept card, Fish was pretty lame, didn't feel fresh, chips was kind of cold and didn't feel fresh also.

Always my go to for lunch at work or dinner for me and my colleagues if we have a meeting. Can call and order ahead but just as fast to go straight in. Always service with a smile 😃

My daughter comes here regularly and says it’s fantastic for the roast chicken so we drove from Brockley. There was plenty of cheerful staff and super kind - the food was delicious 😋 and really hot! Don’t forget your cash as doesn’t take cards

A local favourite and family run for the last 20 odd years. During Covid they have kept some vulnerable people supplied with hot food. They fresh cook Haddock, so be prepared to wait (well worth it) and do great Saveloy's and Rock too. The usual suspects of chicken and pies complement their fayre and the staff are always helpful.

We was living close to shop,always was getting food, unfortunately we moved,but if I'm in the area always pop in. Always made chips in good oil doesn't smell(this is important for my family) The best one. Never change for 5 year's. Chicken cooked deliciously. Best service,good people. Will be going there. Chips were dull and rubbery... cod was grey and greasy

We’ve had several meals from this shop and all have been great quality and value. The service has also been first class as they’ve offered us to call them with 10 minutes notice to freshly cook us our favourite fish, haddock. We once were mistakenly given curry sauce instead of peas, mistakes happen. But they handled it really well and took care of us on our next visit. A great local business that is run with pride.

Think this shop may have changed hands or under a new manager. Not nearly as good as it used to be, shame have used it for years but last few months, food has not been good at all.

Mis papás han estado comprando pescado y papas fritas todas las semanas durante algunos años en esta tienda. Recientemente, las papas estaban empapadas, las huevas tenían un sabor tan fuerte, la masa estaba empapada y las papas frías y bañadas en bacalao. No volveré a comer nada de aquí.

This has to be the best chipy in the south of UK really. the number of times we have been to them .we travel from Scotland to enjoy the fish chip taste it's old school flavor with a modern twist ie the box ect .nothing better than stoping here then a lill drive to the common or heath pull up an sit on the grass having a nice munch ..happy days..

This lovely family run business serves the BEST fish and chips. The food is so tasty! However the extra bonus is that they always serve food with a smile. I've been going here for 3 years and cannot fault them.
