Stag and Rainbow in Liverpool

Went last night for the festive meal with my other half. Good festive menu with plenty of choice. I had the crab and lobster as a starter which was very tasty and nicely presented. Hubby had the warm cambebert and said it was also nice. We both opted for the festive turkey with all the trimmings and it certainly was! A very generous portion of turkey, roast potatoes and lots of veg. Hubby couldn't manage pudding but I had the melting chocolate bombe which was amazing....very rich and very nice...and probably very fattening!Looked after by Angela, Jean and Kerrie who all introduced themselves and were friendly and welcoming whilst also being efficient so food was served promptly and HOT!It was a nice visit in pleasant surroundings.

Visited today 12th Dec. opted for the festive 3 course. Had soup to start, festive turkey as main and crumble with custard to finish.Waitress was pleasant and food was spot on. Will definitely be visiting again with family. Special thanks to the young girl with pink hair named Jane. Gave us such a warm welcome and sorted our bill out, very cheerful and nothing was too much for her.

Visited the stag and rainbow today and am pleased to say it was back to its usual standard. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive and the food good. Sharon and Angela were great as always. Thank you.

Visited tonight 12th Dec, honestly the food was terrible. Lasagne was microwaved and cold, French fries were to hard and crispy, the steaks were undercooked after ordering well done, childrens meal Sausages and Mash, the mash was hard and undercooked, my grandaughter left it all. A discount of 50% was given which is no excuse for bad meals served. Will not be visiting again.

I ate here one evening whilst staying next door at the Premier Inn, it was quite late when I ordered food but the service was faultless. Decent enough food very pleasant and helpful staff, it was very busy but efficient enough to deliver a good service.

Just been to the Stag for a girlie pre Christmas catch up and was really disappointed with the trip. Refurb looks good but the prices seem to have gone right up. My meal was really poor value for money - around £16.50 for a Mediterranean Mixed grill. It consisted of 2 kofta, 2 small chicken skewers, rice (in lumps) and a salad (basically a few olives thrown on the plate with 4 pieces of tomato and a bit of chopped onion). The hummus and tzatziki were in the smallest dip dishes in the world. Staff seemed rushed off their feet and bar service was slow. Not my idea of a good night out - don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon!

Really disappointed on arrival to find no one waiting to greet and show you to table so had to stand around and wait, plus didn’t look very Christmassy. When shown to table waiter started telling us what they had ran out of and ended with saying they had no turkey left!! This was unbelievable as we had pre booked weeks in advance for Christmas menu so we could have Christmas meal together as family won’t all be together on Christmas Day. The children were very disappointed as they were really looking forward to it. The waiter was apologetic and went to check in the kitchen but returned and said they definitely had no turkey left. Don’t expect this on Christmas menu, they should order enough in. We left and went to the Toby carvery up the road, excellent service, greeted on arrival, quickly seated and best of all they had turkey! I wouldn’t go to the beefeater again.

Came here for birthday meal left balloons for table, they didnt have balloons on table, I had to ask for them ,the food was not great either or the food selection, I had ribeye steak which was so thin and small , the meal didn't reflect the price, the staff don't look happy to work here for what ever reason ,overall dissapointed with food and service and would not return again

We regularly meet up at this bar and this was the first time since the refurbishment. We opted for the £5 lunch and can honestly say the portion size and quality was superb and one of the best lunches I’ve had for a long time, well done

I travel a lot for business and often stay at a premier Inn with a beefeater attached. This particular visit was the best meal I've had in months. The service from both Jean and Laura B was very attentive. As many people faced with the same menu time and again I have come to know why I like and I ordered my usual baked camembert followed by surf and turf but I must say this was the best I had ever had the meal which I am told was cooked by Nathan. This beefeater can be very proud of its staff who I am sure all pay the same attention to detail I saw from these three in particular.

Met friends for lunch and a catch up. First visit since it’s recent refurbishment , it looks nice and bright. The bad news is the prices have gone up, plus the service has deteriorated. The member of staff that served us was unsmiling and curt. Would have complained but didn’t because we were with friends.

Good food, ask for medium rare steak and was perfect. Had amazing service by Sharon W, always happy and ready to help

Had a beautiful meal with my wife, scallops and the Lobster burger to die for. Also the pulled beef cottage pie definitely one to try at home.

Very slow service at the bar with no acknowledgement on arrival- ordered food and told where condiments were- when food arrived- overcooked - went to get said condiments- not all available so asked member of staff - still waiting for them!had to ask another - was told by her salt sachets not available!at least she brought me some though. Liquer coffee ordered was incorrectly made and tepid. Staff members on bar ignored customers at bar and were extremely slow in clearing tables dishes glasses etc. Awful place staff need training properly and need rockets up them - had I have worked like this when in hospitality I would have been sacked.

I have been visiting the Stag and Rainbow for many years and seldom have I had to complain. Friends of mine visited last week and said the service was poor and they waited 20 minutes for their drinks. When they ordered 2 items on the menu weren't available. I visited last weekend and I too was told of menu items being unavailable. Tonight I went with two friends and ordered gammon and baked potato only to be told that they had no baked potatoes. I cannot understand how at 5pm they have no potatoes to bake (but have mashed potato), I can only deduce that either the baked potatoes are bought in frozen or the mashed potatoes are.

Decided to give restaurant visit not been for 2 years.

The Stag & Rainbow is a really comfortable and nice place to have a drink or food. Have been on many occasions and enjoyed it. Always clean, usually great service and decent prices. On a summers day it's lovely sitting outside.

Live local so have visited the Stag and Rainbow many times ....Usually after shopping in Marks and Spencers ....Always a nice vibe ... popped in today for a quick drink ..the bar was very busy but only one person serving (no probs with barman!) ...quite a long wait ...it was a match day so you think that more staff would have been behind the bar ...just saying .....

Nice breakfast but served on stone cold plates sitting in a plate warmer that was switched on. Not good considering the cost of cooked breakfast

One of the nicest rump steaks I have eaten and very reasonably priced if ordered from the 'before 6:30' menu. Staff very friendly and service efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Visited our local beefeater restaurant after its refurb and although it has been newly upgraded and fresher outlook we found the new menu to be a bit disappointing with a few of our favourites removed from the new menu , also the positioning of the breakfast counter in the restaurant has taken away the the feel of openness throughout the restaurant because we're we sat for our Meal

We stay at a premier inn about 16 times a year as part of watching football. Our first visit this season was a fortnight ago and we were very disappointed with the downgrading of the full english breakfast. Presumably this reduction in quality and choice has been implemented across the board at all premier inns around the uk. They have removed both the bubble and squeak and black pudding options and have changed the bacon to a very inferior and thinner version that does not even hold a fork tip, so is almost impossible to eat unless you use your hand or put it on some bread. Also the plates are all cold so by the time you get back to your table most of your food ( especially eggs ) will be cold. They have also introduced a coffee machine which is very slow and which caused a queue to build up resulting in a 15 minute wait for a hot drink, by which time the food was even colder. They have added some very poor smoked thin streaky bacon ( the type you get in Europe, which no one likes) an an option of cold ham and cheese.They have maintained the previous price for a full english breakfast of £8.95, so this is yet another example of " shrinkflation". I attach below the response I have just received to my complaint, which took 10 days to arrive. do yourselves afavour and find another option nearby ( e.g Costa or M&S; food next door). I certainly will from now on.

I had to write a quick review of my visit to the stag and rainbow this evening to say just how thankful we where to the staff especially Jean who is outstanding in her customer care, I can't thank her enough for her patience and explanation of the menu options to my cousin who is Autistic and was upset over the changes on the menu its staff like Jean that make it so much easier for family to eat out and feel comfortable I would recommend the stag and rainbow great staff and delicious food . Fantastic

We stayed in Premier Inn next to this restaurant. After a footbal match we decided to go for dinner here. Staff was very kind and nice. Food was just delicious. I can only recommend.

Visited our local restaurant again after its recent refurbishment and everything was perfect from start to finish.

Beefeater is usually my "go to" when staying at a Premier Inn, on this occasion however, I was left disappointed. The restaurant is very nice, tastefully decorated and looks clean. Staff were very friendly, but were let down by a poor choice on the menu due to shortages (big list of items off the menu on the back of the waitresses pad). Would like to think this is because they are in the middle of a menu change and it isn't what happens every day. The food that was available and that I had was well cooked, tasty and well presented.

We attended the re-opening night on Friday evening and it did not disappoint. The place looks amazing, warm, welcoming and modern. Food was fantastic, the cod loin was cooked perfectly and the cottage pie (although not my usual taste) was delicious. No long waiting times so smiles all round. I'm very glad that they haven't changed everything, by which I mean the staff because they are all lovely. Our waiter, Liam was brilliant, efficient and up for a laugh. Thank you very much for looking after us so well, we'll be back again soon.

Had a lovely breakfast here this morning. Lots of choice food wise, although my husband had to wait a bit for more hot food to be prepared and was disappointed you no longer do black pudding. Would be great if you could so halloumi too. Overall would highly recommend very good value for money.

Awesome meal, rare rib eye was spot on! Despite some noise nearby, Megan was professionally perfect and made our celebratory night! Thanks to all, especially Megan!

Had a lovely waitress named Megan nothing was too much she couldnt have been more attentive if she tried .. my only complaint was that the cleaner was hoovering whilst we was in the middle of our food which made us feel a bit uncomfortable and leaving earlier than wanting to, however megan made us feel at ease

The staff are amazing and kind especially Megan who was always helpful. The food and drink was over expectations and the atmosphere is full of love and joy. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking a good place to have something to eat.

My husband and I decided to call in as we passed. After waiting what seemed a very long time for food we had a lovely meal. A shame the wait took off the shine.

Go to this restaurant about once a month. Food usually quite nice. Waiting on staff v friendly. Bit pricey but ok for an occasional visit. Toilets in restaurant not big enough for the amount of customers. Hand drier NEVER works.

As Premier Inn guests, we ate here as it was next door, and were told about the meal deal, this included having an unlimited breakfast, a 2 course dinner (either a starter and a main or a main and a dessert) plus a selected drink (a glass of wine was one of the options) for £23.99 per person. The only thing I will say, is that there is limited dinner choices for vegetarians, and some meat options incurred a surcharge, that said, my partner really loved his mix grill which was 1 of the options, and my vegan burger was one of the most succulent that I've ever had. Our waitress, Sharon, was really helpful in explaining how the meal deal worked and also advised us on some 'must' places to see in Liverpool - nothing like local knowledge! Our breakfast here wasn't nearly as nice as dinner, and this is reflected in my combined rating, as the scrambled egg was 1 coagulated lump, the fried eggs were like rubber and the mushrooms were so shriveled up that they were very dry in the mouth and almost inedible, however, I ordered vegetarian sausages and they were cooked to perfection. We were told that the establishment is soon to be refurbished, but it looked quite modern and clean as it was, and the staff were very polite.

The Premier Inn Breakfast at the Stag& Rainbow is excellent. Great variety of fresh food, great service from staff.

Met with some friends for lunch. It wasn't my choice of venue but it was convenient for us all. It was almost empty but I waited about 10 minutes for a member of staff to show me to our table. I had seen the same member of staff making two drinks while I was waiting.....Eventually she came and checked her computer screen then proceeded to show me to a table however unknown to me, my friend had arrived before me and had already been shown to a different table! Our third friend was a little late and no one approached us to ask if we wanted any drinks while we waited. We ordered from the day time saver menu, I ordered gammon and upgraded to sweet potato fries. It was good for the price but the few staff we saw appeared overworked which affected the service.

staying at Premier Inn next door and popped in for dinner around 8.00, was asked if we had booked and when we said no the guy gave the impression this was a problem despite the place being mostly empty, he continued to think about it despite being told by staff that a number of tables were set ready, eventually he wandered off leaving us to guess that we should follow him!!

No solo la comida es excelente, fresca y abundante, sino que el personal siempre es muy amable. Trabajadores educados muy trabajadores aquí. Somos visitantes habituales y, aunque todo el personal es excelente, Sharon realmente hace un esfuerzo adicional y hace que cada visita sea feliz.

I have been staying in the Premier Inn for 11 weeks now and i always get food here. Miriam and Jade have always made me feel welcome and they are a credit to the company! Nothing is ever too much and they always make an effort to speak to me. As i have been staying here alone i am very thankful for the company. Miriam and Jade both need to be recognised for their outstanding customer service!

Having dropped my daughter and 7 of her friends in central Liverpool for a 21st party I found my chosen hotel and eatery and settled for a quiet evening on my own. On entering the stag and rainbow the place was buzzing I was seated very promptly and a drinks order taken,staff very attentive and cheerful considering the place was busy. Drink arrived and food order taken staff constantly asking if I was ok and generally chatting with myself and all around them good banter amongst themselves, food arrived 15 minutes after order was taken and I was very happy with the quality and my choices of starters and main course. Big thank you to Sharon W the waitress assigned to my table very friendly and helpful couldn’t do enough to make my visit a great experience, date of visit 2nd August 2019 thanks again to the manager and Sharon W for a great evening.

Spent a few nights next door in the Premier Inn and used this place as our base to watch Lewis capaldi. Chilled out atmosphere with plenty of comfortable seating in the bar area. Had some food and shared with friends. Thanks to the team and management for looking after Myself, Partner and Friends.

I go to Liverpool once or twice a year and I always go to the Stag & Rainbow.

Keep away. Reduced menu. Sour atmosphere. Disappointing! Customer care, doesn’t exist! Take it !! Or leave it attitude Most staff, over faced! Through lack of experience/ training? Were polite.

Food was really lovely, our waitress Miriam went above and beyond all needs were met. One of the best services I have received such kind and helpful staff. Management was on point. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Come here all the time and this time we had a taste card. I’ve never used a taste card before and was absolutely made up we could save 50%. Now I don’t know if it was because it was the end of a busy day, or because we had a taste card but our meals were nowhere near as nice as usual. I got the lamb which was £16 something and my partner got the sirloin. It was like rubber. The broccoli was like it had been stuck under a heat lamp. We both didn’t enjoy it but didn’t send it back because after a long day and at 50% off we felt like it wasn’t a massive loss money wise and we just wanted to go after a long day. Normally the food here is second to non. Gutted that it wasn’t the same as usual. Staff lovely as usual and love the setting.

Excellent service from Sharon W. Really impressed with the food and atmosphere will definitely be back.

Visited the stag and rainbow ahead of going into west derby village. We were greeted by Sharon and was seated immediately.My husband ordered scallops for starters and a rump steak for main with a few changes to the sides all which was readily accommodated. I ordered the lobster and prawn starter and the 28 day aged sirloin both where fantastic. Sharon was attentive throughout as she always is whenever we visit. Our bill came to just under £55 with a couple of beers and a bottle of wine,which was excellent value but also because we used the taste card. We will be returning again.

We visit this beefeater almost weekly due to the quality of food and level of service we always receive! Sharon in particular always looks after us and makes sure we have everything we need, even remembering what drinks we order. We never wait long for hot food and never ordered anything that was not of a high standard!

We went stag and rainbow Sunday for food. Food was lovely. Fast service of food and drinks. The thing that stood out for us though was our waitress Sharon. She was fantastic nothing was too much trouble at all, very funny great to be served with personality. 5* highly recommend stag and rainbow

Pretty much every item on the menu is above £12, eg £13.50 for fish and chips, £12.50 for any burger. Also, there are no simple, pub classic dishes.

Food was amazing as it always is, and the service was brilliant! Sharon was very friendly and made our visit perfect!

Another lovely meal at the stag and rainbow, prawn cocktail and crispy beef starter really tasty, and the steak was delicious! Liam our waiter for the evening was wonderful! Extremely helpful when deciding what to order, and even took the time to have a little chat with us in between serving his other customers! In fact all the staff are a credit to this restaurant, from the duty manager to the bar staff !we will see you again soon!

Me and my friend came last night we were served by Megan she was so joyful and happy we had the evening menu 3 courses she gave us time in between our courses told us there was no rush she was just such a polite happy waitress and she made us laugh we had a great meal and would definatley be back when Megan is next on.. Fab meal and fab staff, Liam was very attentive and the food was lovely. Highly recommend the crispy Asian beef salad!

We had my 40th birthday meal here back in May. We had the big table on the raised floor at the back. There was a lot of us but the service from Miriam was quick and attentive. We had quite a few kids with us too and her patience with them made the evening all the more enjoyable.

From the moment we arrived everything went just perfect, fast friendly service with a smile and laughter. Food was good but the service outstanding. Will be back again soon.... Sharon is an asset to the restaurant..

The place itself was lovely and we couldn't fault our waitress, she tried her best to accommodate us. When visiting a beefeater that promises to serve the best steaks around we were upset to find that they had none left to serve us. We ordered other items but they were not great. We especially didn't appreciate that while we were eating our meal the staff started putting chairs away, it was only 8 o'clock!!! Standard pub grub but not that special.

Being part of the Beefeater club, I was e-mailed to get a very good deal ( well worth getting a card if you enjoy great offers). I booked ahead, and was pleased that I did. It was a Thursday early evening, and was already extremely busy, which suggests good trade.

Another fab night at the stag ... Aimee our waitress was so attentive and guided us through the menu .. food great ..

First time having dinner here. Have had breakfast a few times which has always been good. Speedy service, good food and prices, nice staff. No complaints.

Have been coming here for years and love the food and the people who serve - especially Sharon! Over the years the veggie part of the menu has really improved and I find that there's lot's more choice now for me.

went today as a birthday treat ,I decided to have roast dinner when it came there was 5 little fatty chunks of lamb and 5 tiny overcooked roast potatoes ,complaind to waitress because couldn't eat lamb as it was too chewy , she took it away and 15 mins later brought me another one .by this time my husband had finished his dinner he had ribs that were nice, second meal as bad 5 bigger chunks of lamb that were that fatty and chewy that I couldnt eat it , the Yorkshire pudding wasn't cooked it was like a dumpling ,waitress came over to ask if we wanted desserts but all we wanted to do was go home , no apology the supervisor said well you know lamb is sometimes fatty ,we go there regulary we have our Christmas dinner there often but we will not be going there again .also they charge 13 99 we should have gone to carvery down the road .

Booked a table for tea last night food was good restaurant was clean and are waitress Sharon went above and beyond when serving us excellent service will definitely be coming back soon

I recently attended for a family meal for a couple of birthdays. The atmosphere was great, really chilled. Our waitress Ange was great, very attentive and patient when my husband couldn’t make his mind up what he wanted! Will definitely be going again in the future.

I recently attended a family gathering at this lovely establishment. Upon walking in I was met by the aromas of "proper pub grub" the sound of families enjoying themselves at this point I knew I had made a grand decision in attending. There was a wide selection of food and beverages for my eyes and stomach to ponder. All the family was thrilled by this which in itself brought a smile to the young children's faces. The staff were friendly and banterish making my time there warming and pleasant like a child waiting for Santa to arrive on Xmas Eve. By the end of our evening I felt like our family had increased in numbers because if the connections forged that night. Ange will forever be part of us now she made children laugh men cry with laughter and women leap with excitement what a classy bird.

Booked a table in the restaurant for 6 PM but turned up early and the restaurant allowed us to go to our table early. Our waitress Sharon was fab very attentive and all food and drinks arrived promptly.the food was very good even with a substitution made on my starter(no lobster so smoked salmon instead).Will definitely be back again.

Food was fab, wait time great and our server Miriam S was lovely, and so friendly. Really happy that you can now use your taste card here and the fact it’s accepted 7 days a week makes it even better!

Decided to go out for a last minute lunch with the hubby. Nicely decorated inside and bright and airy.

Had a fantastic time at this restaurant, the waitress was amazing her daughter worked there too and she was just as delightful! Food was good and service amazing. Sharon and Megan are an asset to your place!

So had breakfast here yesterday was lovely buffet style food seemed mainly fresh (hash browns were dried up) nice coffee and selection if teas and juices could do with having 2 toasters as there were quite long queues for it x

We visit here quite regularly over the years & the friendliness & polite staff fail to disappoint. Particularly Aimee & Jean.

10 out of 10 for customer service, Aimme was excellent she really looked after us. Food was gorgeous too. Will 100 percent return

I've been staying next door at the premier inn--- fabulous

Ate here as I was staying at Premier Inn next door. Every day the staff took our orders and then seemed to disappear for ages leaving our food sitting under the heat lamps. Bar staff seemed to do the same disappearing act aswell when wanting a drink. I ordered a curry one evening and when it arrived it was missing the naan bread and poppadoms. When I asked if they would be served with the curry I was told they'd run out and was given two chip sized pieces of garlic bread instead. Also ran out of Doom Bar and bar staff didn't care and didn't know if another barrel was ready to be connected. Not the best of places I've visited to be honest.

Birthday meal had a great time staff very nice and helpful especially Sharon was very pleasant and polite

It was absolutely packed to the rafters in the restaurant and we didn’t book as early as maybe we should have done!

I've passed this pub many times but never been in but a family member wanted a family get together and picked here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. I ordered lamb sunday roast and asked for the lamb to be well done as i don't like pink meat. When i got it, the lamb was so well done it was actually black. It was burnt to a cinder on the outside. I didn't want to make a fuss in front of family that i hadn't seen for so long so i just ate it. The roast potatoes were just shy of being burnt too and it wasn't until i was half way through my meal that i realised that everybody had yorkshire pudding but me. Had it been not such a big gathering of us, i would have sent it back. I doubt i'd go back there though, especially as that meal cost me £14. My son and his girlfriend had the same food and they weren't impressed neither.

Was staying at the Premier inn. Friendly efficient staff. Had the mixed grill (upgraded to include sirloin steak) and it was perfect.
