Stag and Hounds in Bracknell Forest

Sat outside but covered by the the big awning and patio heaters so although a cold evening we didn’t feel the cold at all. The service was very good, the food excellent and very reasonably priced.

We ate here as a foursome on a Thursday evening in their new outside eating area, which is under cover and heated. Booking online was easy and we had a 2 hour slot at 6pm. Plenty of choice on the menu and specials. We had some of the nibbles as a starter and risotto for main. The food was delicious and great value for money.All the staff were friendly, not overly attentive but just right for a busy evening.We will be returning.

1st drink back since opening and I have to say it was amazing. The staff are super friendly and could not be more accommodating.They have made the terrace area very welcoming and cosy.Alice our waitress could not have done anything more she was super!Highly recommend!

Lovely roast beef and chicken take away! Beef was lovely and tender, veg and potatoes very tasty. Yorkshire puddings were huge! Chicken dish came with two sausages. Gravy was lush too. Wonderful dinner for my Mother’s Day, no washing up either!! Definitely would order again and try the fish cakes. Superb!!

Great Take Away - it was Valentines Day so as everywhere was Covid closed decided to get a take away roast .I had the pork my wife the chicken ,both accompanied with roast potatoes, a vegetable mix and Yorkshire puddings and a pot of gravy.For a desert bread and butter pudding with custard. The roast was generous and extremely tasty and ready to eat. The pudding was for you to warm up yourself again very generous and excellent quality.Will definitely use this service again and will try other choices from a decent menu which is sensibly priced for such a quality meal.

Can’t speak highly enough of the Stag. This was the first time we have been out for a meal since lockdown and we made the right choice. All (3) meals were super, goats cheese tarts & Thai fishcakes, followed by sea bass & seafood fettuccini. We went the whole hog & did desserts too which were lovely as well although completely unnecessary. Great service & friendly staff. Really can’t fault the evening & pleased to be able to support an independent pub in these difficult times!

Wanted to show appreciation for the Takeaway service from the Stag & Hounds. Absolutely scrumptious and piping hot food brought out to your car. 5 🌟, excellent value for money

Arrived for lunch with friends at 12.30. Ordered 3 fish and chips and 3 sea bass from the main printed menu. Waitress returned to advise sea bass was unavailable. Substitutes reordered and 3 mains arrived 30 minutes later. 3 more followed 5 minutes after ( so first batch had started to get cold). We all ordered tarte tatin for dessert. Waitress again returned to advise only 2 were available. We reordered alternatives - 3 items only delivered because waitress had forgotten the 3 ice creams.Whilst the waitress apologised some form of compensation would have been nice but nothing was forthcoming.Overall the food was ok but the service level was below expectations.

Good food as always, had to order and book table via phone app which was pretty easy once you know it. Nice environment and enjoyed the meal.

Have eaten lunch and dinner here several times pre and post lockdown. Food is always excellent, whether bar type food or formal lunch/dinner. Visited this time for a late afternoon Sunday lunch. Squid starter was exceptional. My family had the Roast Beef and Roast Chicken which they said was delicious. Service attentive and polite. Can highly recommend.

No proper booking system - you have to fill in a form on the website and wait for a reply. That's fine if it's prompt but we submitted a request in the morning and didn't get a response until late evening, by which time we'd booked somewhere else.

Our first meal out since lockdown and so worth the wait! Entrance & exit clearly signed to ensure as much distancing between customers as possible (never going to be 100% in pubs). Tables in the restaurant area well spaced & very friendly, attentive serving staff.The food was absolutely delicious! My girlfriend had fish cakes & I had scallops to start - both were very flavourful. The fillet & ribeye steaks we had for main were both perfectly done!Thank you Stag & Hounds... we’ll definitely be back

Popped in for Sunday lunch , good service sensible Covid procedure , ordered roast chicken with a side of cauliflower cheese , what a plate of food I struggled to eat it and I can eat , very tasty and well cooked definitely go back

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime, COVID precautions still in place, but still made to feel very welcome! All the staff were so friendly, excellent customer service! We had the chicken supreme! 10/10 it was a popular choice as we saw quite a few come out while we were there! Highly recommend!

After over 3 very long months of lockdown, we finally got to eat out again. The Stag and Hound was our 1st choice, and as always they did themselves proud. Amazing food, fabulous friendly service in the most beautiful 14th century old country hunting lodge. I highly recommend the homemade hummus, garlic pizzette, sunday slow roast lamb, seafood linguine and freshly made pizzas. Next visit i'll definitely leave room for the rhubarb mess desert!

I’ve known this pub most of my life (I’m quite old) and it’s still a great spot. The place hasn’t been mucked about with, staff seem nice, helpful. BUT the food.. oh dear.. I had the Rubens Salt Beef-thing. A crime. Sort of like a fried bread cheese and ham toasty.. but worse. My sister’s Duck-whatever-it-was, old and tired. Shame.

I went with a part of 11 people for my dad's 72nd birthday. The staff were very accommodating when a few members of our party were running very late, and with the two young children with us. The food, as always, was really enjoyable, with a good selection from the menu and the Sunday specials. For the adults there was also a nice range of drinks, from ciders, larger and wines.

I meet a friend here 2/3 times a year for lunch and a catch-up. As usual food was lovely - we both had chicken, bacon and Brie sandwich with chips - plenty in the portions, plus coffee. Staff friendly, service quick.

Good private room. Staff very friendly and the food was very good. Hot spring rolls, scampi and pizza with well filled sandwiches.

Quite often it can be unpleasant going out for a meal as a couple just before Christmas, lots of families sat at long tables can make a restaurant very noisy.The Stag and Hounds has little eating areas with about 3 small tables in each which is very welcome.

Nice with dogs outside the front under the heaters in the winter. Half way stop whilst walking round the old blue mountain golf course which now has some country walks for the dogs. Nice to have a beer and bowl of chips or a full meal half way round or afterwards. Definitely recommend. Plse like if this helped.

We went as group of 5 , 3 adults and 2 children. Had 3 courses each . All delicious and plentiful.We will definitely be back .

Very good pub, busy and friendly environment. The food was excellent. Enjoyed my time here , would definitely recommend.

The pub was absolutely packed and buzzing when I walked in at around 2pm. Still the service was swift and pleasant. The light meal we ordered arrived within a very reasonable time. The "starter of the day" although a touch on the salty side, was really tasty, not too skimpy and well priced.

Had the big and juicy Piri Piri prawns to start, followed by two excellent mains of calves liver and chicken supreme from the specials list. To finish we had the sticky toffee and the banoffee, great all round lunch

Lovely pub with nice atmosphere... the roaring fire and tiny old rooms are perfect for a winters lunch! Between us we managed to have Roast Beef, pasta, scampi and a pizza which were all delicious and topped of with a sticky toffee pudding that the kids said was amazing! Would definitely visit again!

We had a large table of 20 people on a Saturday night. We were impecably looked after by the staff, and the dinner was first class for such a large number of people. Most importantly, it was hot too.

Visited the Stag and Hounds as I was staying in Binfield, The steak was amazing value and cooked perfectly, and the Eton mess was superb..Beer was great and the staff, Tess & Azalia were wonderful a d helpful, superb food and would certainly visit again..AAAA++++

Lovely friendly staff and service, food was excellent and such a wonderful historic place as it was Henry the eighth’s hunting lodge in the 1400s! Amazing to think how old this place is and all the different lives it must have seen!

Had a family celebration lunch on a Saturday. Not busy. Lovely log fire. Bar had good selection of wines and beers. Menu varied and children’s menu available. Food was prompt, delicious and generous portion size. The stone baked pizzas especially good.

My brother, sister in law and I (plus a dog) went to this lovely historic pub for lunch. The three of us had the soup of the day, which was leek and potato, and it was so good. Added to it were a few very tasty croutons and pea sprouts - great garnish.

Having been here before and not had the best experience we did think we’d give them another chance but alas disappointment again.

We booked ahead for a large family group, Requested 8 people plus 3 highchairs. Were shown to a table for 8, so had to be reseated as per request,

Visited here with some colleagues - was lovely food, lovely atmosphere and service was great. Set menu is very good value for money, although (not on set menu) the prawn crackers are written to sound like a sharing platter - but is more like a nibble than to share! Perhaps we are greedy? Can’t complain about anything really, on the pricey side but set menu has more than enough options for you to find something you like. Well worth a visit! Always busy when I drive past in warm weather, loads of parking, clean and well stocked.

We had not used the Stag and Hounds for a couple of years following previously bad experiences with the quality of food and poor service, but when we tried to book other pub restaurants in the area they were all fully booked so we reluctantly decided to give the Stag and Hounds another try. Unfortunately very little seems to have changed. When we asked our waiter why the restaurant was empty when we arrived he said it had been very quiet all day! (strange when all the surrounding restaurants were fully booked), we soon found out why.

Our 2nd visit here when visiting family. Lovely old pub with good food and excellent service. Parts of the building set very old with very low beams, if you are over 5’ 6” you will need to duck or you will have a headache.

Great place to eat it just a drink. Great pub garden. This place is so dog friendly. They even provide a soft bed for your tired pooch and have lots of extra water bowls that you can refill yourself. I would highly recommend this pub whilst you are staying nearby.

Nice evening out for a friends birthday, the green out front is good with a few tables.

Night out with a group of friends - what a disaster - orders taken by waitress - kitchen don't produce dishes. kitchen and waiting staff argue who is wrong. What food we did have was not good. Got the excuse that they were short of staff - sorry no reason for the absolute shambles - it was like being in Faulty Towers. Although Basil and Manuel would have done a better job. Don't waste your time or money there are better placed to go.

Daughter treated us to dinner so we stayed local. A good choice of pub grub well cooked, great service really friendly staff. Nice choice of drinks. We had a sharing platter to start which would be great for two but for three we did fight over our favourite items even though it was a large. My steak was cooked well and sauce was delicious, the house fries were more like mini roasties but were great. The girls both had deserts and they said they were really tasty.

Decided to have Sunday lunch out and saw a friend had been here. Reception was good, sat in a small room with tables, staff friendly. Had the beef and lamb Sunday lunch. Plates were not hot and side plates of vegetables looked the6 had nuked. Beef was ok but a bit grisly, when mentioned she said I don,t like that either as opposed to “will pass that on to the chef”. Having asked for sauces, asked for another and got a raised eyes from one of the waitresses. Food was warm, not hot. Asked for extra gravy which came and that being hit made finishing the dish a treat. Deserts were good, though the special sponge pudding half the spend was very dense and inedible. The coconut ice cream and peanut brittle I enjoyed.

All the food was cold and rubbish service fly all over the place cob webs dirty toilets filthy seats carpet stuck to your shoes dirty glasses flat lemonade

18 of us came for a meal on a Wednesday night with pre ordered food and the service was fantastic and prompt food and drinks throughout the night ! Great food & great service - well done !!

Excellent Sunday roast. Good to be asked how you want your beef cooked and get what you asked for. In contrast the vegetarian options are limited. Service great when it’s there, but intermittent...

Pre-booked on the web site and got quick response - we were greeted and seated politely and efficiently and service was good throughout - beer and and cider good and water brought quickly to the table - menu was good and after an excellent sharer starter, lamb rump and thai red curry were good - eton mess to finish was great - reasonable price and as we are local and had not been for ages will be going again soon

The service was very sloppy, the food very bad. The salads used to be great, the halloumi salad is now a messy mixture of badly cooked vegetables, cold halloumi and tons of raw onion and pea shoots that the chef could not even be bothered to cut properly. The strawberry Eaton mess had the most part of half a strawberry on it. We were denied our first choice of starter, then 30 min later it was served to the table next to us. Very, very disappointing to see a good pub go downhill like this.

Wanted a break from our awful hotel food, we were not disappointed with the pork and the desserts we gorgeous. The service was great, very friendly and accommodating ladies. Would certainly return.

What a lovely place this is. Chris behind the bar manager was so helpful and witty. Great food menu for vegan, vegetarian and everyone really. Beautifully presented lunch and really tasty. Chris is a real expert when coming to creating that special gin too! Here visiting family, but will definitely go back before returning to NZ.

Visiting our family in the area, we looked for an olde English style pub that served great food.

The pub offers either a free seating bar and garden area for food or drink or the bookable restaurant. We arrived about 8.30pm and did a walking option with no booking for the restaurant. Option of either full menu, specials or set 2 or 3 course menu. Friendly atmosphere in this old style coaching inn. Plenty of car parking and outside seat with also heating in areas to the front of the building.

Booked table well in advance and were very looking forward to our visit. On arrival we were told they would be back to take our order, returned 30 mins later to take our order. Then told us it would be a 45 minute wait. Ordered food and drinks, then could hear two member of staff slagging us off! Starters eventually arrived half the size of what they were originally. Steak was gristly and fatty. Burger was burnt. Absolutely appalling! Will not be returning!

We had lunch here for first time today, booked a table for 1pm.

The food was excellent and the waiting staff friendly and efficient. Caution if you're over 5ft 7 as the wooden beams are very low. Nice atmosphere and even when the staff are busy they make you feel very welcome. Particular praise for James who was efficient and knowledgeable about the menu and made our dining experience so much more pleasurable. I will definitely be returning soon as there were a few more dishes i'd like to try. Good menu with specials and dishes of the day so lots of choice. I fail to see that there's not something for everyone here. Chef has definitely improved since my last visit. Every dish was first class. Worth booking as it does get busy here. Well done keep up the good work.

I've eaten here many, many time over the years, but won't be again. Last Saturday I booked a table for Sunday online and didn't even get confirmation. When I called they had no record of my booking! This was confirmed on the phone for the evening at 6pm.

The pub looks full of history and the food was fantastic the service was fast and friendly could not fault it at all will be definitely be going back.

Limited menu but food always good. Staff very good. Parking area large but this place gets busy in the summer so you might end up on the road outside. The eating areas inside vary from large dining area for groups or quaint areas for two. Outside dining area a good size.

Lovely old pub the meal we had when served was hot and not a long wait but not to quick between courses so we really enjoyed our dining experience.The atmosphere of the pub is good.

Maybe excpetations are too high but when I go out to eat there is a minimum of service standards that I expect.

Nice pub, nice menu, but food disappointing tonight. The meal was pricy so would expect better for the money. Booked online for Christmas meal. Table was in cozy bar area but no crackers on table, few decorations where we were sitting. Would need to hear about improvements before returning. Sorry.

Quick lunch (crispy duck salad and sweet potato fries). Food was good, nothing to blow me away but totally fine for the price level. We were served quickly, with a smile and given a jug of iced tap water straight away. A very good experience, will return.

We only had burgers on a weekday evening so not overly busy. They were perfectly good, served in good time and in pleasant and relaxed surroundings. Service was friendly.

I recently arranged two lunches at this pub. One was for our Golden Wedding and with 25 guests the other a Christmas Lunch for 14 friends. Prior to both I had arranged menus and ordered the food from the fixed price menus.

Popped in on way home from a Santa visit all happy, then..... service was very poor, food was so peppered was like the chef had dropped pepper pot in a few dishes. The onions soup should have Been renamed pepper soup & the kidney starter was just pepper! Then the bill came !!!!! 6 starters 3 mains few drinks £200

We’ve visited the Stag and Hounds numerous times now and have had wonderful experiences every time! The food is delicious and always cooked to perfection, the staff are always welcoming and go that extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and well catered for! I would highly recommend the steak they also have a really lovely children’s menu with lots of choice and good healthy options too!

Visited with friends who live locally. First impression very nice cosy pub. It was our first visit and we went for lunch.

I visited the restaurant on Saturday 24/11/18 with a group of friends. 3 of us ordered the pork from the Specials Menu but there was only 1 portion left. Unfortunately, my 2 friends agreed I could have it. Woke at my sister's house in Windsor in the early hours of Sunday morning with severe cramps and diarrhea which lasted for 36 hrs. Rang the restaurant on my return to Shropshire on the Sunday evening and was advised they would investigate and report back within 7 days. No response. I rang again a fortnight later again on a Sunday and was advised someone would call me back within 24 hrs. Not even a call back - let alone a refund for an expensive meal that left me very ill. Appalling customer service. I have now reported the incident to the Food Standards Agency

Visited stag and hounds as have had good experience previously. Really disappointed. Food was ok, not great. Service slow even though it was a Saturday night and very few others eating there. Most disappointing was the staff sarcastically answering back when after waiting a substantial amount of time for food we asked when it would be arriving.

A favourite place of mine so took friends along on an early Saturday evening . The usual good food and atmosphere and only one slight hiccup on the slow service. This is ok I am a reasonable person and made a comment to our waiter which was met with a ‘ you’re dying of thirst and you only ordered a half’ my guest were slightly taken back as was I. Moving on the slow service didn’t improve much which was particularly prominent during the desert/cheese/aperitif orders some of which we hadn’t recieved for nearly 50 minutes I mentioned this to another member of staff who promptly doubted my order , when I told her this was poor she walked off. When the original waiter finally bought the last of the selections one of my guests commented that we had waited nearly an hour, he replied ‘I don’t think it was an hour you’ve got that wrong’ and again walked off

Went with some friends for dinner and were all disappointed. The pub is lovely and the food was ok but the service was very poor. Had to wait ages for orders to be taken. Then had to chase up drinks order,twice. Restaurant not busy so did not understand why the service was so slow. None of us will be returning .

Went here with friends for lunch. The service was friendly and attentive and we were well looked after. The menu offered a good choice with specials and everyone was happy with their food. I had the sea bass fillets which were excellent and had nice crispy skin. The sticky toffee pudding was very good with only a minor criticism that the sauce had just caught. Didn't stop me eating it all though. Good choice of beers which again were excellent. A little on the pricey side but overall a nice meal and will go back again.

Booked a table for 9 at 14.00 on a Sunday .When tried to order was told no Beef or Chicken left.very disappointed. Why take bookings if you got no food.being a Sunday we wanted a roast.had to have pork which we did not really want but to late to go any where else.this was a birthday dinner we booked days before.

Really is the most amazing Sunday dinner. We pre ordered roast beef as we were going to be arriving late in the day and knew they could sell out. The beef was excellent, cooked to perfection and there was a huge selection of lovely vegetables and crispy roast potatoes. Great service from the lovely friendly staff - a perfect end to the weekend.

A fortunate choice of half way meeting point with family, a busy lunchtime crowd, very friendly and efficient staff, the bar was well stocked, the food offered good choice and the meals were excellent.

My colleague had picked this restaurant, since we were actually in the mood of a good roast. When calling ahead to make the reservation, we were told that we could only order at the bar (and you had to pay for it at once!) because there were 2 large parties already occupying the restaurant.

After passing by this restaurant a few times, my mother, father, and I decided to give it a try. The venue is nice and we were greeted by a nice lady who led us to our table. Our food came in decent time, however we were first handed the wrong order, they were for the table just across from us. I’m guessing this was the error of someone who had just started working there, however when someone makes a mistake I try to be as understanding as I can, I am not someone to get angry easily over a mistake (I’ve been a waitress myself so totally get the stress, I’ve made the same mistake before when I started so for me it’s completely understandable, we have to make mistakes in order to learn from them, so this didn’t bother me much). When our food arrived the waiter apologised for the mistake which is fair enough. My parents both asked for a side of mayonnaise but it didn’t arrive. The staff seemed unhappy (again I’ve worked in a busy pub environment so I understand the stress and sometimes it’s not always nice to be in that position). Overall we wouldn’t rush back here again however we were happy we tried somewhere new.

Great lunch with friends on a miserable Saturday afternoon. The open fire welcomed us with lovwly warmth and aroma. The menu is extensive and there were plenty of specials as well - we were really spolit for choice. Really friendly staff and the food was great.

Popped in for a quick lunch on Saturday, excellent food and service. I had their burger and fries which was delicious, my husband had pizza made with sourdough base which I helped myself to 2 slice as it was so good and shared my burger with husband. We would definitely eat there again, restaurant has several little areas to eat. Lovely setting with a great outside area at the front and rear.

Located just 0.5mikes outside of Binfield village with plenty of parking. Plenty of seating inside and out. Good varied menu and drinks. Always worth a visit what ever the weather. Good pizzas and fish and chips. A few steps and low ceilings to get inside but easy access outside. Would recommended. Please like if this helps.

I took my colleagues from Italy to the Stag and Hounds in Binfield on Tuesday. They had the Steak and Chips and the Lamb Henry. They haven’t stopped telling me all week how fantastic it was and ‘the best meal out they have ever had’

The Stag and Hounds is a lovely pub and perfect for lunch on a Sunday. My boyfriend and I are both vegan, there is a full vegan menu with multiple choices for each course, make sure you check online because some dishes have to be pre ordered. I really enjoyed the mezze starter, the risotto I had for my main was nice, there was a great selection of mushrooms in it but a few were actually too chewy to bite through which put me off a bit. My boyfriend was not happy with his curry, he felt it was too watery but I did explain Thai curries are often more liquidy. I did agree with him though that the portion was very small considering it cost £14, should be more to it for this price, you expect a pub meal to be more substantial. The brownie tasted fine but seemed more like normal chocolate cake rather than a brownie so a little disappointing. The service was great and the waitress said there are new vegan dishes coming soon so I would definitely come back to try these.

We went to the restaurant prior to a wedding . The staff were really helpful and accommodating. The food was good and delivered promptly and piping hot. This is a attractive restaurant pub with comfortable furnishings and lovely decor.

Having visited this pub previously a long time ago it was nice to revisit now. As it was a lovely day we decided to sit outside to eat. The menu choice was good & being a Sunday we expected it to be busy. It actually wasn’t that bad & after making our choice we went to sit in the garden, which I actually didn’t know they had! It was. A very pleasant surprise as there were plenty of tables to sit at & it was nicely done with a selection of shrubs & plants & a nice water feature. The food was nicely presented & delicious!

Got there at 12.30 as they said they were busy when booking. Really good food, nice selection and friendly prompt service. Highly recommended.

Excellent meal - well done chef providing an excellent choice prepared to the highest standard for 5 adults all without any complaints whatsoever all full of praise- nice waiting staff-very helpful -bar staff good but that welcome was missing-

Really needed a good steak and went for the ribeye. Unfortunate choice on many levels: The steak, the sauce and the chips were so salty I couldn't taste anything. I was unfortunately so hungry that I ate it all anyway. Now I have the issue of how to get the taste of salt out of my mouth...! Would ordinarily have complained earlier had I not been so hungry and the other food served seemed to be perfectly flavoured so I suspect this was just a one off. However, will find a better place for a steak next time I'm hungry.

We booked a family lunch for four at 13:30. We had to move the table before two of us could sit down as the tables were so cramped. As soon as we ordered we were told there was no roast beef, at 13:45!

Have not been here for a while and have to say the service was excellent along with superb food. Friendly and welcoming well worth a visit.

Booked here on the back of trip advisor reviews but wish we had not. Venue looks great on arrival but you can quickly see that the venue is not very clean. Our sharing board to start was met with if you want cutlery it’s on the bar. The board was good as were the four meals but no check backs were carried out and after sitting with our main plates completed for 20 mins we decided to leave the staff seemed happier talking then looking after customers. The food deserves a 4/5 however let down by the FOH team.
