Squiffy's at the Jolly Coopers in Richmond upon Thames

Regularly use for Sunday lunch with friends. Did is always lovely. However I booked a family celebration for 13 people and after 2 hours we were asked to move to pub area which was to small for us all. We basically didn't have time for deserts, extra drinks/coffees. We were not told we only had a 2 hour slot. Would never book again for a group over 4 or a celebration. Such a shame a real disappointment and ruined our day we had to all go home

The food and atmosphere in the pub is second to none. Such friendly and welcoming staff, the food is lovely, nothing to much for the chief or staff, brilliant wine range.

This is an absolute gem of a pub, fabulous meals (tasty and home cooked) and great atmosphere. The staff could not have been more accommodating. I stopped in one of their new apartments which is really high spec and so tastefully done out. Lots of really lovely little touches and detail to make it special. I will definitely come back to stay for a weekend with my husband or family. Highly recommend.

Was there for a birthday meal. I love this place the food is great and so reasonable priced for the quality, dare I say it almost underpriced. Staff are very friendly, busy and attentive. When I say busy I mean that not in a bad way but they are always on the go tending to all their guests efficiently and in a friendly manor. Great place, great food. Nothing to fault this place at all.

We called in today for lunch, a fantastic proper pub, service was excellent and staff very welcoming, the menu's choices were varied , and we all said the food was of a high standard and quality, great chef who attention to detail. Popped in on a Sunday afternoon and the staff were just rude! Ordered a drink and asked if they had food only to be told they were booked out….. despite there being a number of free tables! Once dismissed they ignored us. Take a tip… pop up to the Bells Inn ( where we went afterwards). The staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was lovely. This place only cares about their regulars …. Visitors were treated like lepers! No thanks!!!

Only popped in for a post walk pint on a sunny evening. Avocet Ale from Exeter Brewery was in fine shape. Sat in the open area at the back of this friendliest of pubs and was very happy.

Stay for one night in the newly furnished blue apartment The decor was great, lovely big bathroom with a walk in shower plus a roll top bath and extras like aromatherapy shower and body lotion Bedroom had a great comfy big bed with large wardrobe all tastefully decorated with great furnishings The living room had a large velvet sofa bed, which my sister reported was very comfortable Amazing -behind cabinet doors was a mini kitchenette with everything thing you need plus extras When we stayed it was hot (29 degrees plus humidity) they kindly provided a fan which helped over night. Despite being by a road, was very quiet The pub is quaint and has a lovely courtyard garden . We did not eat in the evening there, as we had plans to meet up with friends but the breakfast was just what we needed, well cooked and presented Would recommend this as a great base to explore local area

My family and I booked a table for dinner on Sat, 27 May. Having turned up and allocated our reserved table at the back of the garden, we waited and waited and waited for over 30 mins. During that time, no one gave us a menu, took our order or offered pre-dinner drinks. It evidently not that busy as we noticed that one of the waitresses had the time to chat informally to an off-duty colleague for at least 10 minutes! So, as the evening was fast disappearing and we were hungry and fed up of waiting, we got up to leave. Ironically, when she saw us leaving the table, the waitress then came over. We told her that it was too little too late and that we had had enough. We also went over to the off-duty member of staff and told her that we were leaving due to the inordinate time wasted waiting to be served. She apologised, but again, the damage had been done. Fortunately, we managed to book a table at a restaurant in Teddington and salvage what little time was left of our evening. Because of what happened at The Jolly Coopers we didn’t eat until 9.00! Unacceptable and ‘not a pub / restaurant for us’ or indeed, other customers. In the current climate, how can you let customers like us slip through your fingers, particularly when we are quite willing to part with our money?!!

We went for Sunday lunch today and it was delicious. The surroundings were nice with a homely feel. The roast potatoes were fantastic, and we would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Decided to eat out so popped in here for tapas. What a treat! Every dish (we had 5 between the 2 of us) not only looked amazing, but tasted absolutely delicious. Seriously good from presentation to empty plate. Thanks Squiffys ❤️

Family of 5, Saturday evening. Attentive and patient staff. Great selection of food and drinks and boy oh boy, the tapas were amazing. The pork belly was full of flavour, expertly cooked and plentiful. The steak & potatoes were divine. A little pink (how I like it) on a bed of roast potatoes and the creamiest of peppercorn sauces you could ever wish for. Other dishes consumed included the King Prawns, goats cheese balls, falafel, chorizo & manchego - all geetting rave reviews. We all left full of food and full of praise for Squiffy's. Looking forward to our next trip. Really really impressed 10/10

Visited the Jolly Coopers with friends today. Such a lovely pub. The staff are really friendly and the Sunday lunch was amazing it was one of the best Sunday roasts I've had. I would definitely recommend this pub and will definitely be going there again.

We had a lovely meal at Squiffy's - on a Monday night, no less, after a Bank Holiday. The chicken and chorizo paella was fabulous (the large option was huge) and the vegetarian tapas great. The dining room has been refurbished and redecorated. The three of us very much enjoyed the evening.

Order was not properly fulfilled - salads came after we had eaten and the girl saving had the gall to lie saying we had ordered the same food when every table was eating when we sat. Pork was do salty it was left, desert so oily it made 2/4 family feel sick. Before it has been great. Last night it was way below acceptable. Would we return? Not on last nights service, food quality or flavour.

A group of us came here for dinner for a pre-Christmas meet up. We pre-ordered a number of dishes, which meant that our food came out pretty quickly after we'd sat down, but didn't stop us ordering more. The food was extremely good. The baby roasted chorizo and crispy pork belly were my favourites, but there was so much that was really great. Service was quick and friendly and the bar staff were very nice. We will deffo be back again same time next year, if not before.

Yes, the portions were a good size and tasty. Sadly, it was extremely noisy in the restaurant area and so conversation was difficult.

I’ve just left this restaurant and can honestly say that it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had to date... I went to Squiffy’s after seeing, by enlarge, good reviews so I trusted that... I couldn’t have been more wrong and in fact, the terrible reviews are very in line with the experience I’ve just had. I am somebody who can’t stand complaining, I find it embarrassing and awkward to do so, but the Iceland style / oven cooked standard of the food was something I couldn’t part with my hard-earned money for. After politely complaining, I was repeatedly challenged by the blonde, female manager (who I now know has been mentioned in other reviews), telling me that the food is freshly cooked and that it was ‘just my personal taste’, it simply isn’t and wasn’t. After saying that I wasn’t willing to pay for my chicken skewers (that quite frankly, I wouldn’t feed to my dog), she tried to charge me for the rice side dish, telling me that I could’ve eaten the rice on it’s own, or with some sauce. Has anybody ever eaten a bowl of plain rice with sauce? Who knows. By the end of this unnecessary exchange, my patience began to wear thin with the rudeness and patronising manor that I was being spoken to in, so I refused to pay the bill full stop. I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant without paying but the unprofessional manner that the situation was handled in made me not want to give this establishment a penny. Bottom line for me is, either cook food that doesn’t taste like it’s been heated up with a hair-dryer, or learn how to politely accept criticism and/or complaints. I would strongly dissuade anybody from having the displeasure of eating / being here.

I can not recommend this pub more. Amazing tapas Spanish, Asian fusion. With a very friendly local pub feel. If you just want a pint or some very good food in my opinion. The best place in Hampton.

A dinner out at Squiffy's is always a delight and we have celebrated many a special occasion there over the last 25 years. So we were really excited to try out the new take-away "with love delivery service". It was a TREAT - the salt and pepper squid was wonderfully DELICIOUS and the ribs were YUMMY and there was no stinting on the chicken and bacon which pimped up the nachos. The service was as always, friendly, and it was delivered on the dot. Already looking forward to sampling some more of the menu!

What a hidden treasure -quite literally.... through the back of a lovely friendly oldie worldly pub.....The restaurant had a lovely feel to it. Great for parties, couples & group.The staff in the pub & restaurant were very welcoming & immediately put you at ease.The waitress was full of life & attentive - but not over powering with enthusiasm. All of my party plumped for the tapas - a decision definitely right, on view and the wonderful smell of the dishes coming out of the kitchen.Meatballs, haddock & salt & pepper squid dishes I personally would highly recommend. The momentary silence on first sampling our chosen dishes- I could tell 3/4 of the party were more than satisfied with their dishes.The forth member was unsure re their chosen dish (just the one) - however, our table were very impressed that the waitress, without any fuss, expediently found out what the issue was & got the matter sorted to ensure a very happy conclusion. Love to see customer service at its best!I can truly see why my mother in law was highly recommended this gem in Hampton re my love of tapas, as a birthday treatI would not hesitate to recommend this as a go to for tapas in particular , as the all round experience was ‘top notch’ in my view.Can’t wait to go again.Book book book!!!!

Fabulous meal, great atmosphere and not too busy for a Friday night. Three of us had 9 of the various tapas dishes which was really tasty and more than enough. Our waitress Lauren was really attentive and a strong ambassador for great customer service. Definitely need to return and sample the rest of the menu!

The Jolly Coopers serves 4 very well kept real ales, we tried the Summer Lightning and Flying Monk Habit. The menu is very extensive and very good quality. We had a Squiffy Paella, mixed seafood with chicken & Chorizo. They do a shared paella for 2 that is less than the price of 2 individual paellas.

7 blokes on a pub crawl from Hampton to Teddington visited the pub, we did not eat, and were made extremely welcome by the lovely lady behind the bar. As some of us are real ale drinkers we were offered tasters, did not have to ask and the ale was kept in a fine condition. We normally only have one pint and move on but we stayed for another. The "young" lady behind the bar even gave us home made scotch eggs for free. We will be back.

Visited friends in the area for the weekend and we ate in here at 4pm on the Sunday. There were 5 of us and we ordered off the tapas menu. The food was piping hot and full of flavours. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely return when visiting the area again.

I was looking for a new place to have a Sunday lunch in the Hampton/Molesey area and I found Squiffy's The menu attracted me straight away; a mixture of traditional courses with a variation of tapas style dishes mixing mediteranean and asian styles.

My girlfriend and I sometimes pop in on a weekday and just share three or four tapas dishes and other times go along at the weekend with friends. If there are four of us we find eight tapas dishes is plently. There are a few dishes that to us are a must which include Smoked Haddock with Baby Spinach & Parmesan Gratin at £9.50 and Crispy Pork Belly, Chili, Coriander & Sesame Seed at £7.00. They also have non tapas dishes which friends have had and enjoyed.

I went for lunch with three friends. We enjoyed our lunch and was not made to feel that we rushed and able to catch up.

Just the job if you like a quiet pint in lovely surroundings, good food too! Thames Ferry is 80 yards away if you're from the South bank!

This was a very spontaneous decision and from what I’ve heard, we were lucky to get a table without booking ahead. The Jolly Coopers is an historic pub, rustic in feel, small inside, very typical of it’s time. I hadn’t know what to expect, all I knew was that there was a great reputation for Tapas. When we walked through the pub, I was taken aback by the style, just not what I was expecting at all, but by no means a negative. Traditional pub in every sense.

A classic locals' pub with a welcome for everyone and a flourishing food operation that really deserves to be flourishing. What could be nicer than to stock up with a couple of pints of Summer LIghtning, then to find a seat in the little back garden and wait for the culinary delights to appear? Nick is a great landlord and manages to give the impression of knowing each of his regulars like an old friend. I believe he does!

Make sure you book in advanced to avoid disappointment as this place is always busy! With both and outside area for the summer and an inside section for the colder months you can enjoy this amazing food at any time. The manchego cheese with red onion is my favourite. Amazing service, the girl serving us was so lovely and we found out it was her first day! Good job and great food!

Squiffys was my wife’s choice for her 60th birthday meal. We’d had a perfect day on the river, sublimely concluded with dinner at Squiffy’s, sat in the garden. The waiter was excellent, as was the food. Thanks very much, and see you again soon.

Called in for supper on a Wednesday evening, flying solo after a day working at RHS Hampton Court.

Looks great from the outside but we were turned away for lunch although the place was half empty?? I’m guessing this is not a serious pub/restaurant and more of a hobby for some folks that need a pastime centered around booze. Shame

Had a family dinner there on Saturday evening and it was as good as all the previous reviews would suggest. We had a selection of tapas dishes - 2-3 per person and with the generous portion sizes this was more than sufficient. We also had the Rib/Wing/Chip platter which was excellent. All very nicely presented with very friendly and attentive staff. Would recommend it.

It’s actually a hidden gem.. you’ve got to be convinced to go in and try it. It doesn’t look much from the outside, nor the inside to be honest. But the tapas was excellent - traditional and some British tapas twists. Great food, really well presented and good value.

Squiffy's is a hidden gem located at the back of a quirky pub in Hampton. My fiance and I shared nachos (they were huge) and a selection of great tapas dishes. The food tasted divine and portions very generous. We really enjoyed our dinner here and will definitely be returning. Don't miss out on this great dinner spot!

Very friendly and cosy pub, restaurant and sunny courtyard. Had the sunday lunch and it was truly like Mum would have made, delicious and the gravy was exceptional. Go with a big appetite so as not to waste the generous portions. It's NOT fine dining but that's the best part, it's hearty, well cooked and served with family style. The veggies were late arriving but that was the only small thing in an otherwise delightful Sunday afternoon with the papers as this pleasantly non-Gastro local.

Went with a friend and the restaurant didn't disappoint. The restaurant is located at the back of the pub adjacent to the garden. We hadn't booked a table but luckily it wasn't a problem. Recommend reserving a table if going later in the week. The waitress was really friendly and service was quick. The food is flavoursome and portions are genourous. I couldn't finish my seaford linguini and was offered a doggy bag without any prompts from me. Overall a very nice experience and will be going back.

Always guaranteed a great meal here, whether choosing to dine in courses or off the tapas menu the food is always delicious. Food takes a little while to come out but it's definitely worth the wait upon arrival.

As this is our daughter and son in laws new local we have visited a few times and always receive a warm welcome . I get time to sit and chat catching up with my daughter over a drink and the MOST delicious tapas dishes whilst my husband can sit and watch his football with table service of his share of the tapas from me !!!! A wonderful traditional pub something sadly lacking these days . A lovely landlord and staff who we look forward to seeing many more times in the future . Highly recommended

This was our first visit and definitely will not be our last. Each dish we tried was fantastic, from the tapas, the roast chicken, beef and the pie. Puddings were great too. All the dishes looked amazing and tasted better which is not easy to find. The staff were lovely, friendly and made us feel very welcome. It has taken a long time to find a really lovely pub restarurant where the Sunday lunch was worth coming out for and spending on. We don’t live close by but will make the trip here again whenever we feel the urge to have a good Sunday lunch out. Many thanks and all the positive reviews are well deserved.

We popped in for a quick bit before the football game next door. The staff was very nice and the food is just gorgeous. Their selection of tapas is just amazing and the chefs clearly know what they’re doing. No need to look for somewhere else if you are around Hampton.

We come here by the Hampton Ferry regularly during the summer months, not so often during the winter as the ferry doesn't operate in the winter months.

Being new to the area I decided it’d be nice to have night out close to home. So persuaded a group of friends to support local business rather than heading further afield. Huge mistake! This pub looks inviting from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. The minute we stepped across the threshold we had what can only described as a tumbleweed moment. Looks of disgust from the other patrons made it clear that this is a local pub, for local people & new comers aren’t welcome. I can honestly say I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in my life.

Phoned up to book a table for Saturday night for a friend and I. Just staying in the area and looked like a good place to try looking at the previous reviews. So glad we did. Such lovely food and excellent service. We shared the baked camembert and some salt & pepper squid for starter. The squid was delicious and cooked perfectly. The camembert was lovely and had a really tasty onion relish with it. For main we both had linguine with shell fish. It had a slight curry flavour and again we really enjoyed it. We shared a bottle of wine and it was a reasonable £71. If in the area again I would definitely pay another visit. Recomended!

Visited here for drinks & food on the strength of trip advisor reviews and I was not disappointed !! The pub is traditional style and very friendly with great choice of drinks. The restaurant at the back is contemporary but still cosy. The menu is amazing and food is exceptionally well cooked. Portions are ample in size and extremely good value for fresh food. Had a family meal in the pub. Great service and very tasty food. Something for everyone. Had tapas which were excellent. Lamb skewers were amazing.

Have been using Squiffeys and the Pub on a family regular basis for some time and can honestly say we have never had a bad meal the quality of Food and the cooking of it is really wonderful and the quality of Alcoholic Beverages are also first class I am sure if all retailers worked as hard at there Business and treated the Customers as Nick and Jane Do then the High Streets would be totally different than they are today can’t recomend highly enough.
