SQ Bar & Grill in Belfast

Staff was very friendly and helpful. There were 2 tour buses at the buffet but we were still well looked after in the dining room. The food was really delicious.!!!

Had dinner here while staying in the hotel and too tired from work to go further afield on a Monday night. Unfortunately found myself sharing the place with an entire coach trip, but that couldn't be helped. I'm not a sports fan but the TVs weren't on too loud so were quite easy to ignore. The cocktail list is short and not very informative. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc which was OK. The fish and chips was good: lots of chunky chips, nice fresh well cooked fish, crispy batter, plenty of mushy peas and tartare sauce. The Eton mess wasn't Eton mess, it was just berries and cream, with no meringue pieces. It tasted OK but was served in a smallish martini glass which felt like quite a rip-off for eight quid. The staff were very busy and evidently quite harassed but still made an effort to be friendly and helpful. Not many options for gluten-avoiders, and I suspect not an option at all if you're coeliac; fortunately I'm not, and can eat fish and chips as long as I eat very little or none of the batter. I didn't love the experience of eating here, but it did provide me with a decent low-stress dinner, and for that I was grateful.

Après avoir cherchés un restaurant durant 1 h, nous sommes tombés sur ce resto. Nous avons été agréablement surpris de l’accueil aimable, du service efficace et poli. Les plats sont simples mais très bons.

Ordered two bottles of coke, bar tender gave us room temperature bottles and acted all confused when asked for cold ones. Slow and poor service The food - avoid The chicken burger was fatty and dry with no taste, very basic and unappetising Lasagna - microwaved to oblivion and two dry slices of garlic bread All flung onto the table with a £37 price tag Honestly McDonald’s is much better Don’t bother Only ate here as we’d just got of a flight that was delayed

The breakfast is value for money with as much to eat as you can, fresh food and a very good variety. For evening meal Sirloin steak was cooked just how I like it.

Io ho preso un cathedral burger, buono bello sostanzioso e gustoso, accompagnato da una birra bionda locale molto buona. mio marito ha preso un chicken burger e mio figlio la pizza, arrivato tutto caldo e abbastanza rapidamente... Arrived into SQ restaurant at 630pm to be asked if we'd booked. It was empty with lots of empty tables. We were shown to one of them by a waitress who really was bland and not welcoming. She then went off and after a good 15 minute wait with NO service, so did we, as there was no effort to serve us, and why hang around just to be ignored ! Very dissapointing, & can't review food, as we could not wait any longer! Really wish I had time to get to The Lantern over in another part of Belfast tonight instead, as it still remains far beyond many in great service & food.

I have been to this restaurant many times, but the last 2 times I've been there, there has been live music which was far too loud and made it impossible to talk. One of these occasions was a Sunday afternoon and the other was a Saturday night, when the music began at 7.30pm. I asked a waitress if the music could be turned down and she was quite clear that it was 'impossible'. I will never go back there again.

Was there on a quiet afternoon last Friday, hardly anybody in the restaurant and outside. The length of time it took our food to arrive combined with the poor standard of food will mean we will definitely not return. The waiting staff were pleasant but barely any attention was given to us. Hard to believe this is part of the Ramada hotel!

Me and my sister wanted somewhere different and although I have been to Belfast a few times I hadn’t been here. My sister wanted to try SQ so we went and it did not disappoint! We were served by Hannah and Damian and they couldn’t have been better, very friendly and lovely. We left feel very full and the food was that good we took what we couldn’t finish with us it was too good to leave!

Excellent restaurant with delicious steaks. Ideal for watching football matches on TV. The restaurant belongs to the same building of Ramada hotel and can be accessed through the hotel entrance or a separate entrance.

Vine aquí para un almuerzo tarde / cena temprana. El restaurante estaba desierto, lo que no ayudó a la atmósfera. Estábamos sentados en una mesa con nadie cerca, nos podrían haber sentado cerca de los demás, pero esto no sucedió. La comida era lo suficientemente buena - costilla de ternera (pero el colcannon / puré era tenebroso como pegamento - el tocino estaba poco hecho mientras que la col estaba recocida) pero el ambiente definitivamente lo decepcionó. En realidad, fue bastante deprimente, no será una visita de regreso con tristeza.

Myself & Husband stayed in the Ramada encore hotel which this bar is situated. The interior is beautiful & modern & the staff are lovely. The food was stunning & entertainment was really good. I would highly recommend the restaurant

I was staying here last week and we ate dinner on Friday evening, I had the steak and it was very good, service was quick and prices weren't too expensive either. I would eat here again.

This restaurant and bar are located in the Ramada Encore Belfast City Centre. We had lunch and then visited the bar in the evening. Terrific sandwiches at lunch. Bar staff very friendly. It's a bright and cheery place.

Regretfully TripAdvisor does not have a "Good" rating. For TA rating I give the benefit of the doubt and rate 4/5 ("Very Good").

Good basic food with a reasonable range of choice to suit all tastes Well presented and good portions. Breakfast is a bit overpriced.

I had lunch here and my feedback is absolutely positive: I ate a delicious asparagus and mushrooms risotto served by very kind staff. My friend had a meat dish and it was super yummy as well.

Came here for lunch with my wife and had a wonderful experience. We were served by a lovely girl named Carol. I had the beer battered fish and my wife had the salmon and both were delightful! Beautifully presented and very quick service. We then had a cocktail at the bar also served by Carol. Altogether was a lovely experience and we'll highly recommend to our friends and family.

I’ve just got done reviewing the hotel and honestly compared to the attached restaurant it’s black and white.

Firstly, as someone with a nut allergy, dining out can more often than not prove to be a stressful experience for me. This was definitely not the case on Thursday night when I visited the SQ Bar and Grill with my work colleagues. From the moment we arrived they showed great consideration and care in regards to my allergy with the Chef even taking time to come out and have a chat about my order. The way he handled my allergy with such professionalism and understanding is to be commended. Not only was I completely at ease and able to enjoy my food, he cooked me two dishes that were mouthwateringly tasty! The rest of the group were equally satisfied with their food and also with the high level of quality service provided. Will definitely be back for more.

Visited on Saturday and the football was on their screens so bar had a good atmosphere. We ordered a starter sharing platter then steaks fish and chips and rib of beef. Food was lovely to be fair and plenty of it. Waiting on starters we ordered another 2 beers for our table only to be told that the coors keg was done and we could order an alternative. As the choice of beer didn’t suit my husband and brother that was unfortunate for them. The mains arrived and we were informed that they had ran out of batter for the onion rings and would have to make more which meant the meal was eaten about half way through before the onion rings arrived. Then the desserts were ordered and we were then told that the cheesecake was out of date and were offered an alternative flavour. Was a bit like a sketch from Fawlty Towers! The SQ bar and grill’s saving grace was our waiter Jamie. Very pleasant friendly young man who had to apologise for the failings of the kitchen and bar. The bill was hefty enough for such an eventful meal.

Staff very friendly and efficient. Food was ordered and served quickly. Battered fish was delicious 😋 Drinks were a bit pricey but on a par with others.

Visited on a busy Saturday (21st April) evening with friends but were seated straight away. Good menu choice. I had the sharing platter of sticky chicken, goats cheese and tomato crostini and salt & pepper squid. Huge portions (I had help from friends to finish it), the sticky chicken and crostini were simply superb. My friends were equally as impressed with their choices from the main menu. Many thanks the the chef/kitchen staff on a job very well done. Fairly reasonable prices.

Six of us came here for dinner at 8.30pm on a Wednesday evening because other restaurants near where our friends were staying stopped serving food at 8pm. Their loss and definitely our gain!!!

Nos dieron frutos para empezar y me dieron sacó la corredera de cerdo para platos principales y mi mam dieron carne. La comida era bastante sosa y no una gran relación calidad-precio. Disfrutamos de la experiencia, pero no tengo prisa en volver para la comida.

Dined in SQ with family this evening and couldn't fault it from start to finish. Beautiful meal, nice atmosphere and very convenient but above all the staff were excellent - very friendly and attentive. Live band at the end was a lovely touch. Kids entertained with fun packs, great food and internet access ;-) A lovely experience for three generations! Will certainly be back.

He comido aquí varias veces durante su estancia en el hotel. Nunca me han decepcionado con mi comida, la carne es carne de excelente calidad, y la irlandesa lados son exactamente lo que quieres en un cena de bistec. El jamón asado es otro char de mis favoritos. No puedo decir suficientes cosas buenas sobre este restaurante y el hotel. El personal es de primera clase, 1 calle son muy amables y acogedores. Más importante es que respetamos su privacidad y le permitirá relajarse. Gracias por la buena comida y servicio a todos. Se me olvidó mencionar el servicio de habitación es la más rápida que he visto. Volveré.

El ambiente era genial, música en vivo fue excelente, sin embargo me dijeron que a las 8 de la tarde en uno de los más grandes del año noches belfasts que el chef no quiere cocinar más' en un restaurante de hotel es inusual, por decir lo menos. . Estuvimos allí con un par de amigos americanos que estaban entusiasmados acerca de Belfast hasta que nos dijeron que incluso los principiantes estaban fuera de la cuestión. . . Las camareras eran preciosas como. eran el personal del bar y pidió disculpas, el restaurante no estaba lleno. Xx

We decided to dine here on the 1st night as it was convenient. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was outstanding, but the meal was spoils by the fact that the restaurant was full with a coach party all moving around to and from buffet.

My family and I had lunch here this afternoon and we were more than happy with the quality of food service and price, our food was fantastic especially the blue cheese sauce I ordered with my sq burger, the staff were professional helpful and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be back!!

A good selection of both bar meals and a la carte. A very enjoyable evening with great food and a lovely atmosphere. There was live music at the weekend which made for a great night. The food was first class.

We had been on a very early flight and wanted something more filling than a Costa sandwich! This looked good on TA and we headed in. Hadn't realised that it was part of a hotel, we tried 3 entrances (which I presume are open later on in the day) before finally getting access.I don't think they get many walk ins but once the lassie realised what we wanted she was very efficient and we were able to pay in advance and just help ourselves from the breakfast buffet. Definitely get the cooked option for £9.99 (which means everything is fair game), if I'd just been on the continental option (£6.99) I'd have felt short changed. As it was it seemed like excellent value. Really nice sausages and bacon - high quality for a hotel breakfast - and there was a good range of scrambled egg, beans, hash browns and more. You could head up multiple times to try the different items.We got a booth round the side for a little more privacy than the main area, great if you don't want people passing your table all the time.Nice staff and the place was spotless. Recommended.

SQ Bar & Grill was our first meal in Belfast and we were very happy! Excellent value, nice dishes, chilled atmosphere and very friendly service. It's not very big and is located in the Encore Ramada hotel, but isn't the hotel's restaurant (as far as I am aware). The Irish Beer in Red Wine dish in particular was superb and generous portion as well. Pleasant surprise!

We stayed in Obel 64 Dream Apartments which were 5 minutes away from St. Anne's Square which is where Sq is. Lovely staff and great service. I had garlic mushroom starter which i could have ordered again (beautiful). Lasagne main was perfectly cooked and a sizeable portion. I couldn't leave any behind. Location, prize and service were top class.

Was out on Saturday for a few drinks with friends when we decided we wanted some food so we called into the to have a few drinks and get some food. The Staff in the hotel are top class they looked after us from the second we had sat down at out seats, The food was amazing. The atmosphere on the hotel on a Saturday night was brilliant the band playing some music in the back round the the buzz round the place was good. I can not recommend this hotel enough its amazing.

Nice restaurant - plenty of tasty food! The portion sizes are very generous.Staff were attentive, my only comment would be that the bottle of red wine was corked - they exchanged no problem however at the end of the meal we asked for a single additional glass of wine - guess what, yep they had not got rid of the corked wine and poured it into our glass! Naughty, if you know your wines there is no way you would get away with that! That said it was a good meal and we would go back, just as we were leaving a live band started - nice touch.Give it a go!

I ate here for 2 nights while staying at the Ramada Encore hotel. Just didn't want the hassle of going out and looking for somewhere tidy after sightseeing all day. Had the burger meal one night and the chicken burger meal the other. Staff were very accommodating and will swap skinny fries for chunky chips for you and even make up little extras for you even if they are not on the menu as I wanted a side of coleslaw aswell. Food is of a very high quality and always cooked fresh. Looking at other people's meals they were having in the bar, the steaks looked amazing too.

We arrived on a quiet midweek night first server wasn't very engaging at all. Eventually another much better waiter arrived and was very attentive. Food was piping hot and plenty of it. However change of staff once again meant a long long wait for the bill.!

We were staying at this Hotel (Ramada encore) and dined here twice the fish and chips are amazing with minted peas and also very good value for Belfast so we found. The place is always pretty busy but the design is very cosy, only downside is the bottom tables is close the to the air-con and are very cold. But overall great staff good choice of food and drinks so Bravo!!

I always find the SQ BAR & Grill a great place to go for a business lunch. They have a great offer of 7 dishes priced T £7 each. Staff are friendly and the free wifi is of excellent speed. Great place to meet, greet and socialise with your business contacts!!

My husband and I visited Sq bar and grill on Valentine's day and were shown to a beautifully decorated table. We were greeted with Prosecco as soon as we sat down which was a lovely touch and drink orders taken which were served very promptly. I had the Calamari for starter which was beautifully presented with potatoes, olives and chorizo, really tasty. My husband went for the ham hock served with thin veda toast, absolutely beautiful. We both couldn't pass steak for main, I had the sirloin and my husband opted for rump, both were lovely, cooked to perfection and served with onion rings, a flat mushroom and tomato and choice of side. Another nice touch were the sauces being served in a little metal pan which retained the heat well and contained plenty of sauce. For dessert i went for the Chocolate fondant served with ice cream and chocolate custard, while my husband went for the banana and toffee tartan served with ice cream, both really tasty. Amazing food combined with lovely surroundings and attentive, friendly staff makes this a place I'd thoroughly recommend!

Fantastic meal. High quality food. Great to see a restaurant where the children's meals are as good as the adult meals. Good atmosphere great service but the food is the star.

I stumbled upon the place and I'm glad I did. A friend and I had been looking for somewhere to eat around the Cathedral Quarter on a Tuesday evening. Following the sign in St Anne's Square, we found the entrance.The restaurant is in three parts I guess. Restaurant, bar and bar eating area. We ate in the latter of those. Lasagne and chips were great, as was the Thai curry.I expect we'll be back. Only when I was leaving did I realise it's part of the hotel.

Had three course meal for party of four with cocktails and drinks . Good was excellent and service was good. I had the beef for a main which was cooked really well and just fell apart. Cocktails where nice although a little expensive.

Have eaten here quite a few times and not been disappointed yet. The daub of beef is generous portion and very tasty.

£9.95 for a full breakfast, you cant go too wrong.Fully self service, so you look after yourself, which i prefer, especially if you need to get in and out quickly.

Great food, and lovely staff...good value for money, although at £6.50 for a glass of wine I thought this was a bit steep.

So bar and grill within Ramadan Encore, you wouldn't know it was here. Service first class and food was to amazing. Whether you are staying in the hotel or just eating well worth a visit.

Used the facilities of SQ for drinks and a meal whilst staying at the Ramada Encore and were not disappointed. Good atmosphere with equally good service. Prices were reasonable and portion sizes enormous ( I defy someone to finish their chicken fajita after a starter!!)

Staying at the Ramada Encore so had breakfast here every morning. Great variety of menu and food always delicious. We also had evening meal there twice and enjoyed that too.

Wij hadden de set-menu , inbrepen in het hotel-package , het voorgerecht was echt wel lekker , het hoofdgerecht had ik de burger , de burger was op zich OK maar de frieten waren veels te slap , dus niet krokant , cocktailsaus bij het gerecht had misschien beter iets anders bij gegeven , het dessert " belfast mess " kon mij niet bekoren , vond het niet lekker. Sfeer en bediening was wel in orde !

Stayed here 3 weeks and the food is impeccable deserves a 6* rating ! The chef's at this establishment deserve medals will eat here agin 1888888% thank you for filling me up !

Nothing too much for the staff in here, good variety on the menu and reasonable priced meals. The food was lovely and the cocktails equally lovely - highly recommend and will definitely return

On peut y manger sur le pouce pour pas trop cher y compris le dimanche soir jusqu'à 22 heures. Les boissons non alcoolisées sont très bon marché.L'accueil est plutôt sympa même si le serveur que nous avons eu ne faisait pas beaucoup d'efforts pour se faire comprendre.

I have been there a few times for corporate events: the food was good even if the Vegetarian option was coming far smaller than the meat ones which is quite disappointing. I still think it has good value for money, the quality of the food is all right and the venue is quiet and nice if you want to have a talk during your meal.

Stayed here for 2 nights for £79 BB and 1 dinner (set menu) in the SQ Bar & Grill which was great value. The food of the set menu was excellent both in quality and in quantity. This menu gives a choice of 3 starters, 6 mains (with the steak option carrying an £8 surcharge) and 3 desserts However the 'regular' menu for the SQ is very extensive and should provide a good choice for most people. We did have a bit of an issue at checkout the next day as we were asked to pay our restaurant drinks bill which we actually paid the evening before - using cash. There seemed to be no record of this, however the manager assured us that he would sort this out. Next time I would ensure I had the receipt.

A little bit hidden on a square in Belfast we found the SQ Bar and Grill. Good food, nice atmosphere, very nice 2 man live band with a great singer. Lots if GF food. Invoice was very ok. When in Belfast do try.

Very limited menu however what they do serve they do extremly well, there is also a small bar menu that you can also choose from. Resonably priced. Incredibly helpul staff, nothing too much trouble and will always find you a table no matter how full. Good music on a Saturday evening

Popped in for lunch last week after it was recommended to us by a friend. The food was amazing as was the service. Best lasagne I've had on a long, long time. We will definitely be back.

SQ Bar and grill cathedral quarter is part of ramada hotel group, party of 6 of us wanted somewhere to eat after we landed last week just round the corner from our hotel was SQs and we wanted somewhere it was'n't too expensive, on there lunchtime menu was a 7 for 7 option, 7 different meal choices for £7 pounds each so we chose that option and were very pleased both with the price and the meals. PS guinness was good too.

The place looks modern and bright. Staff was very friendly. There was a hen party in, making a lot of noise, but that was not the fault of the restaurant. They did keep staff busy though, so we had to go to the counter several times to ask for service. The reason for the bad score was not that though; that is because the food was bad. We had a Thai green curry and lasagne. Presentation was good, portions were very (too?) big. They just did not taste well. The curry sauce was very heavy. the lasagne had way too much garlic, the minced meat was bone dry. The chips were too salty and undercooked. It should be noted though that as it was quite late and we wanted to get on our way we did not complain to the restaurant.

I stayed in the hotel in March this year. I arrived after 6 pm had a shower and went to the bar for food and a drink. The atmosphere was good, staff very friendly and the food was plentiful and good.

We stayed at the Ramada Encore in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The SQ Bar &Grill was the restaurant adjoining. Great staff and food. We ate breakfast each day which was buffet style. 2 different prices depending if you chose full breakfast or continental.Supper time was a menu with a great selection of foods. Large meals and small depending how hungry you were. Would definitely recommend it.

Came for a business lunch here with some colleagues. Had some bacon rolls and pastries and coffee. Great location and excellent service!!

A standard corporate breakfast for a busy three star hotel.The staff are friendly and concerned that the guest experience is good.

A hotel bar and somewhat of restaurant that is also the breakfast place for Encoire Ramada hotel. Mostly hotel guest. I assume that if you are looking for a restaurant there are plenty of alternatives around the block.

Fell upon this place, fantastic food, excellent service finished with cover based live music. Really enjoyed our evening here- definitely recommended.

This restaurant is located within the Ramada Encore Hotel and offers a varied menu. We did not use the restaurant for our evening meals whilst stopping at the Ramada Encore feeling that we would like to explore the offerings of more traditional eateries. However we did use the SQ Bar and Grills for our buffet breakfast for which I give the 10 out of 10 the the quality and variety of there menu. Catering for all taste with a typical continental spread to the full english. Staff were most polite and helpful. Well done.

Visited the ramada encore on Easter Sunday with family for food and a few drinks, phoned before we arrived to check that food was being served, we were told there was both restaurant and bar food available! On arrival we ordered a drink from a member of staff who handed us the food menus and the "Easter Sunday" menu for us to choose from. When we were ready we went to the bar to place our food order only to be told by the bar manager that they were not serving food unless we had booked a table, we advised the manager that we had phoned and no one told us we had to book, I explained that on arrival we were handed the menus to order from and at no time where we asked had we booked a table, we then asked could we book a table and were told yes but for tomorrow?!?! To which I replied but we want to eat today! The bar area was not busy and the restaurant wasn't busy either as you can see from the photos attached. All in all a very disappointing experience from a very rude bar manager.We have eaten in the ramada on numerous occasions and I have recommended your bar and food to family and friends as we have always been very happy with the service and staff, unfortunately due to our dreadful and embarrassing experience on Sunday we will not be returning to your hotel.

Gorgeous food in smart surroundings, we enjoyed our meals here and thought them good value for money. The staff were friendly and very good at their jobs. Good choice, great food, reasonable prices.

we had Sunday lunch here before going to the airport, it was very nice, although 3 kinds of potatoes for me is a little excessive! Wine was great and reasonably priced too!

I had the beetroot and goat's cheese salad with honey and mustard dressing to start with which was delicious but such a lot of goat's cheese, even I couldn't eat it all! The prawn cocktail looked good with lots of prawns in. Then had the chicken with Mediterranean vegetables with a little saucepan of delicious sauce which was very tasty washed down with the Pinot Grigio. Very good service.

Well what can I say but just fantastic everything from the food the staff and the music the menu was good a good selection of starters mains and deserts and good value for money

My husband and I where staying in the hotel and had booked to eat in the restaurant. I would highly recommend it to anyone food was beautiful and a special thanks to Norra for the fantastic service !! The food is extremely well priced and you will not be disappointed

We came here for a steak deal that had been running last year but appears to be over now. Instead they have a new offer for their "combos" you get hot wings, bbq ribs and a steak with plenty of sides and a beer for 20 quid!Needless to say this went down very well!Will be back next week for another round.

we ate here on the 23rd january. Food was lovely, but service was dreadful. My husband never complains and he was raging, each order of drinks taken and no one brought them each time. we ad 4 different waiters, 3 girls and a guy. no one seemed to know what to be doing. we didnt even stay for desert service was so bad. two courses with out drinks, and we kept asking for them.

The Goats cheese & beetroot salad is amazing. Food is a combination of bar food and restaurant style dishes. Good value and lovely service

Food was fantastic and reasonably priced, myself and my mother had dinner here I ordered honey chill chicken and I must say it's the nicest I have ever had! I also got steak ciabatta for my main and it was cooked to perfection! Also has a few cocktails presented lovely and tasted better! Staff where attentive and very friendly who couldn't do more than enough for us! Great atmosphere would defiantly come back and recommend A+++

Chef does not know how to cook a basic meal. Got a steak more fat than meat and over cooked. Also asked for garlic sauté potatoes I got 10 garlic cloves mixed into roasted potatoes. They did say that they don't usually cook them but would this time. Waitress NEVER came back to check on us or how our meal was. When I complained to the management the assistant manager said the waitress did do the check up. Lies I asked 2 weeks a go to to speak to the manager and my money back. I have received neither a phone call or an offer of a refund.... now I understand why the restaurant was empty!!!! Don't go to this restaurant!!!! Don't waste your hard earned money on poor service and terrible food!!! Try McDonalds instead.
