Springwell Inn in Carmarthenshire

Absolute gem of a find. We dropped in for a drink and possibly a bite to eat on Thursday. Stumbled into pie night and couldn’t resist! 2 for £20 and an absolute bargain! I had fish and he that thinks he should be obeyed had steak and ale. So good we booked a table for tonight!

First class all the way ..Cannot fault this place in any way , we holidayed here for a week and the made us more than welcome every visit ....which was daily ..

We visited The Springwell while on a family holiday in Pendine. After trying a lunch for two we returned for an evening meal. Each time we visited we were delighted with both the service and the meal itself. We never left hungry as the portions were generous. Mains and desserts were both to an amazingly high standard and the service was outstanding. Try the lamb shank and the duck in blueberry sauce! We were so pleased that we went back every night and took the family on two occasions. The children were very taken with the servers who were friendly and attentive throughout (above and beyond the call of duty). Congratulations to the chef and staff (and to chefs good lady for the chocolate orange cake). The premises were consistently spotless throughout. Prices were always reasonable.

Tuned up on the off chance of food, staff were really helpful and friendly, food was delicious, best beef we have had in ages, would highly recommend.

This pub is excellent. The food is home prepared and beautifully cooked. I would highly recommend the "Hunters Chicken" and the chicken strips which are massive. The portions are large and well presented. The Sunday carvery is excellent and the vegetables are properly cooked (not hard). The desserts are all home made by the "land lady" and delicious. I would recommend that you book to avoid disappointment. The staff are friendly and helpful. We ate there 3 times in a week so it shows how good this pub is.

Went here for a Sunday carvery and have to say was impressed. Booked after reading some very positive reviews and can’t fault it. Plenty of options on the carvery, all very well cooked and kept hot, something so many fail to do. The service was excellent, waitresses very attentive and pleasant. The deserts would big portions but very nice! Would recommend a stop off if your looking for a decent carvery!

We came after arriving in Pendine, wanting something to eat. We got there at about 6, but couldn't find anywhere to sit inside. I asked the older lady (very politely) about the dining tables which were all free, and she kind of just shrugged and said "no" and wandered off, no explaination of how to book for another night or anything. So we sat outside in the drizzle and had our drinks. The decking is past its best, worn and some of it curling up on the steps. The wooden fence is entirely broken up on the decking - basically the place is knackered and they're not far off a dangerous accident. I've seen this so much in Wales this week - the places that really try hard for business are doing really well, but places like this think they can do whatever and wonder why business is down. I suppose they have a captive audience with the Parkdean site. Star added for the younger people who came on shift about 6 who were a lot nicer and realise the benefit of visitors.

Absolutely gorgeous food here, very efficient staff and very quick service , the only reason it didn’t get a 5 star was there were too many flies in the restaurant which needs to be addressed

A fantastic lunch had Duck with a berry sauce and the Pork with Black Pudding in Pepper sauce. Hot and fresh and great portions. Flavours got the mouth singing ! Had two great desserts and to top it all had two homemade pasties to takeaway. Thank you and be assured we will return.

Just had a week at pendine sands and came here everyday with my wife and daughter. A great local pub with very friendly staff. Food was fantastic as well, and a great pint of aspells cider.

We visited whilst on holiday and were delightedthat dogs were able to go in to one section of the pub. Very clean even with the cat on the seat at the side if us. The bar staff asked if we wanted it moving when we sat down but it was no trouble at all and even our dog was happy for it to remain there. Lovely food and the staff were some of the nicest people I met whilst on holiday. The Lemon Cheesecake was an absolute triumph and we all left sated and happy. Lovely place! Reading the last review. I find it hard to believe you even read the instructions upon entering to be honest, we were welcomed, asked to wait while the table cleaned, you have a choice where you sit, we had a dog so sat in the bar, where they are allowed. If you have chosen her then what were you expecting? I am truely thankful that there is still a business operating that adds value to a small village like Pendine where you are limited unless travelling a distance. Food spot on, friendly and gave our holiday an extra option. You would be the first to moan if it wasn’t here, perhaps McDonald’s is where you are best suited!

Was offered a table in the bar was taken to it by waitress table was stinking no effort to clean it so cleaned it ourselves when food came it was awful we ordered Hunters chicken it was terrible chicken was like rubber .Also there was a cat crawling all over the seats we were sitting at not very hygienic in my opinion .I visit pendine at least twice a year will not eat here again.And to the owner if you cant take criticism get you're house in order

While eating our food we had a cat in its bed on the same seat as us crawling over us while eating our food. We even had to clean the table ourselves as it was dirty. Wouldn’t visit again.

Had a lovely family meal here last night, arrived at 5pm kitchen not open till 6pm, chef came out and opened kitchen to start cooking early, very helpful and lovely staff, lovely setting overlooking the sea. Very strange experience. We've been a few times over the years but this time because of covid I assume , no starters a few mains and no desserts no extra sides . Can't think of any reason for limited menu , the waitress looked vacant when asked a question and the final touch was the meals were served on tin foil trays and we were lucky the next table had polystyrene cartons . Food was nice but the whole experience was strange and lacking any atmosphere which usually occurs on a night out

A long day of travelling and there was nowhere open to eat. We popped in to ask. Kitchen closed. The chef was there relaxing. He got out of his comfy chair and cooked us a couple of very decent fresh chicken burgers, salad and fresh chips. Most excellent hospitality. Highly recommended.

We have eaten here on many an occasion, as we own a caravan on the near by site, the food is always excellent and the portion sizes are generous to say the least. Something for everyone on the menu . The Landlord/chef, his wife and staff are always very friendly and welcoming.Definitely worth a visit if your in the area .Cant wait for the season to start !Mike & Aldyth

This was not good food.My husband and I ordered a curry, it was what seemed to be left over beef roast that had a jar of curry sauce poured over it and served in a silver bowl.The chips were well over cooked,dry and cold, the poppadoms well, dripping with oil (I picked one up to eat and the oil just dropped all onto my cutlery) which I definitely sent back.My sister had a steak which needed a hacksaw to cut, won't be returning. My husband is a diabetic, if it wasn't for the fact that he had taken his insulin (and we were all so hungry)and he had to eat straight away, I would have sent it all back honestly it was an abismal, would have had a better meal at the Point Cafe. It's a pity the Chinese Restaurant east open.

Wow....3 meat options and lots of lovely fresh vegetables to choose from ..didn't have a pudding as we were all far too full...we enjoyed it so much that we rebooked a return visit before we'd even paid.

Popped in here on the off chance that we could get a table. They were very accommodating fitting in a table of 8. Food was amazing, large selection of fresh vegetables and 3 different types of meat. Kids loved the huge selection of desserts too. 100% we will be visiting again

I cannot rate this gem highly enough! We were in the area last year and popped in for a drink, the landlord was extremely friendly. When visiting the area this year we remembered how lovely the Sunday lunch looked.We called in to see if there were any tables available, all the staff were friendly and accommodating. The meal was amazing, there was a choice of turkey, beef or pork with plenty of sides to accompany. There was more than plenty for all of us, it was a shame as the puddings looked fantastic but unfortunately we couldn't eat any more. It was great value for money. We will definitely be back again.

Very accommodating staff as we arrived en-route to Pembrokeshire just after they had finished serving but the chef took the time and trouble to serve us and another couple behind us the most delicious carvery we've ever had. Melt in the mouth beef and lovely fresh, beautifully cooked veg. Staff stayed on to serve us. Excellent service, highly recommend and will definitely make the journey to this little gem again.
