Best Greek Food ever in the UK! It was my first time trying Greek food and i absolutely fell in love, which makes me plan to travel to Greece 🥹 It was 4 yrs ago but i still miss this taste 🥲 i will come back!!!

Love this place, cheap, cheerful, and they never ever hold back on the garlic.

The food is home-made Greek food at its best. There were five of us, three with Greek heritage, sharing as many plates as we could. The stand out dishes were the courgette fritters, spicy Feta dip, and the melitzanosalata. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in the taste. The wine list is short, but interesting, tempting, and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient, and we're looking forward to going back.

Terrible service, since arrival I was continually told the time I had to vacate the table and even though the time had been agreed upon, the waitress continued to create a tense atmosphere, with comments such as: "You don't have time to order that dish" and "I'm making you a favor by bringing you this dish." Disappointing not being able to enjoy such good food, being constantly pressured to eat and leave. 😪

We were a group of 4 and shared a variety of dishes, Everything was delicious. Great service and a lively atmosphere.

This is our favourite restaurant in Edinburgh! Amazing Greek plates, quirky layout with a great atmosphere, friendly service and so reasonably priced too. We've been regulars for a number of years and every experience has been incredible. Would recommend to anyone, best Greek food in the city

Been here a couple of times when we visit Edinburgh. It's definitely one of our favourite spots and the food is fantastic. A lot better than other greeks, which push out the classic dishes. Would thoroughly recommend. We always book, and the place does seem busy.

The closet thing to authentic Greek food in Edinburgh. Amazing family run gem. Terrific service that makes you feel like you’re one of the family. Our 2nd time back after months and the menu was the same which shows the confidence in cooking what they know. And do they cook it well. Cannot fault would definitely recommend!

Went for dinner on a weekday It was not busy at all Had the chicken skewers souvlaki and the keftedes dish. Very tasty and small portions, the prices were quite good

Lovely authentic Greek food in a nice surroundings

Excellent way to share dishes and superb quality and tastes.

Absolutely delicious food. We especially liked both salads, the gigantes, tzatziki and pita. Also lamb chops. Basically everything we ordered. It’s also very cute and had some authentic Greek music.

Food was good and the only reason I'm giving 4 stars, it was quite a wait and service wasn't attentive which is such a shame because the place itself is lovely with lots of character. We ordered the Gigantes (yum), chicken souvlaki (yum) Greek salad & Calamari.

Really lovely food and great service. I particularly like the interior of the restaurant and the ouzo cocktail.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch here for my wife's birthday. Excellent service in a beautiful setting. Its fresh and colourful design gives a welcome splash of Greece and the food was all delicious. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back.

We had dinner with a range of dishes. They recommend ~3 dishes per person. We got 7 dishes and could not finish all our choices. The chicken kebabs were nice and juicy. I liked the calamari too. Overall the food was tasty and service friendly. I was a bit disappointed with the bean stew, which lacked flavour.

Our first experience of Greek food and we were blown away. The food was amazing from dips and bread to fish and meat dishes all delicious. I am not a sweet fan but the chocolate brownie was to die for. Friendly helpful staff and a great atmosphere. Can’t wait to return 👏👏👏

The grilled mushrooms were like eating a steak. The gigantes beans and chicken souvlaki were perfectly cooked. Finished the meal with delicious bougatsa. Really friendly staff. Plan on eating here again before we head out to Ireland.

The food was tasty, but the portions were very small IMHO. Service was also good.

Had lovely meal on Saturday evening. There was a good choice including for the vegetarian. Portions were not too large which kept the price down. Wine prices were very reasonable and I would recommend the house white.

Really nice food! Everything was tasty especially the octopus and the baked feta. I recommend booking a table in advance too. Staff were friendly and the food came out quickly. It is tapas style so the food comes out when it’s ready rather than all at once at the same time.

Top Greek restaurant with a taverna menu of meze, my fave was prawn saganaki but everything was great. Worth a detour for good Greek food. Highly recommended.

This place is incredible!!!! Been several times but this time was served by one of the owners. As alway, the food, ambiance and service was incredible. When I tasted by chicken I was immediately transported to Santorini 15 years ago to a very happy memory. Incredible, I only wish I was with more people so I could order more dishes. Love you guys!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Best Greek food in town! Amazing tzaziki and feta dips. My family of 6 were very impressed and absolutely stuffed. Excellent pita bread and wine too. Our favourite local eatery.

A truly hidden gem in Edinburgh! My partner and I were invited to a birthday dinner for 6 pax at Spitaki Greek Taverna. Great wine at the start. We ordered about 5 appetisers and 5 main dishes. Food started to arrive one by one after only 10-15 minutes. And it was so DELICIOUS!!! 😋 Even just simple pitta bread was so soft and tasty, perfectly warm and full of flavour, with 4 homemade dips. After starters, we quickly had our main dishes put in the middle for everyone to dig in. Soon later, all the plates were empty. Every single dish was like a trip to Greece. Truly authentic and homemade Greek cuisine. Prices are very reasonable as well. Last but not least I must mention the service, who are so friendly and funny yet very on point. It was our first visit to Spitaki and I'm very confident that, we will be back again because it's so worth it! 👌🏼

Very sorry to say that it wasn't very good because this place is so cute and it could be brilliant. We tried a selection of dishes from across the menu but nothing stood out at all. We won't return.

Nice ambiente (tables are not stuck together to have more guests as usual today) very friendly service and the food was excellent. And on top all that for reasonable price. A top recommendation.

nice place. great customer service. tapas style experience, so none of your expected mousaka or stifada type dishes. food very delicious, but a touch on the pricey side for what it is. food came promptly and waitress expressed which dishes would take a while to prepare prior to ordering. an overall pleasant space and meal so will probably return. dinner for 2 with bottle of wine, dessert and a coffee came in at just under £100. the mushrooms were exceptionally good.

Was like sharing food at home except the food was outstanding and we didn't have to cook it or wash up - just a perfect evening with perfect attention from the wonderfully friendly and helpful hosts.

Loved it!!! Spitaki is perfect for a relaxed or a romantic meal on a Saturday night. Our family loves to share and try lots of different dishes so the serving style at Spitaki was perfect. Everything came when it was ready, the waitress warned us that meat takes a little longer (I'm a vegetarian!) but it was all still quick, and no dish disappointed. The restaurant has a great lively atmosphere which does make it quite loud but once again this suited our group. We will definitely be back, especially for the Lemonia cocktail (yum). We came away finding the whole experience was great value for money too - a bonus!

A really great dinner. Amazing staff and the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the pork belly and chicken souvlaki. Staff were attentive, polite and friendly. We’ve been here a few times and will definitely be returning.

Spitaki is a great value, unassuming neighbourhood restaurant, big on Greece flavour served by knowledgeable staff in a relaxed atmosphere, well worth the detour from the usual neighbourhoods to enjoy a great evening.

Don't be fooled by the outer appearance. Walk in and absorb the authenticity of the truly Greek experience. We didn't book and were surprised at how busy the place was. However, we were given a table... we will return and ensure we book next time. Thank you for a lovely meal and great experience x

The most adorable Greek restaurant! Located in Edinburgh but far away enough from the touristy area to maintain a charming atmosphere. There isn't a single dish I don't love on the menu. The owners are so warm and charming and the staff always make me feel welcome and do their best to create a fantastic experience. The mismatched furniture and cozy decore create the most calming ambiance. Please take the time to check this place out. You will not be disappointed.

Another local place we have never been but this is highly recommended. The food the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff, is well worth it! Lovely visit highly recommended and we will be back, but remember to book, you will not get in otherwise. 😁

One of our favourite places to eat in Edinburgh, great atmosphere, great staff and great food. You order lots of small dishes that come out as they are ready so each meal is different to the last. Great for sharing.

Another fantastic meal here. The utterly charming Maître D fitted us in last minute. The food was as amazing as ever. You should have seen the smile on my face! We had the red pepper feta dip, the prawns in ouzo, potatoes and the chicken souvlaki. The waitress Caley was incredible. So warm, friendly and so easy to talk to and have a joke with. This is exactly what a locally owned neighbourhood restaurant should feel like.

Recently moved into the area and first time trying this restaurant. We tried a range of mezze and they were all really tasty, very well seasoned and authentic. Will definitely be back. Family run and has a great atmosphere. Place was packed Friday early evening so I’m late to the party with this one. Also very family friendly.

Reasonably regularly go to Spitaki and never leave disappointed. Really nice interior, very friendly staff and excellent food. The pitta is excellent, especially paired with one of the feta dishes. The cheese saganaki is probably my only let down when compared to similar restaurants (imo).

Beautiful interior, not easy getting in with electric wheelchair due to the front step but we managed. Fast and friendly service, amazing food, simple dishes served but the quality was fantastic. Toilets were as clean and tidy as restaurant was. We will definitely return!

One of the best places to eat in Edinburgh! Real Greek food cooked from scratch with quality ingredients! We have tried the entire menu and every dish is phenomenal! In particular the breadcrumbed aubergine, I could eat that every day it’s so good. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is so warm, you feel like you are sitting in Greece.

This is a lovely local restaurant & a perfect place to catch up with friends. We shared lots of delicious mezze, everything was fresh and yummy. Service is warm and personable, the place was busy with a great relaxed atmosphere. Very reasonable prices for such a wonderful meal.

We visited this place prior to lock down, and thought we would give it another go. It’s rather secluded as it took us two buses to reach it but it’s also worth bearing in mind that both the Campervan and the excellent Newbarns breweries and...

We love this slice of Greece on the edge of the New Town. Warm welcomes, child friendly, cosy layout, wonderful meze selection, genuine and glorious Greek flavours, great value, a taverna triumph. Three of us with wine and beer under £75. Recommend to any Shirley Valentines, Aegean holiday blues sufferers and anyone who likes authentic Hellenic feasts. Yamas.

I would recommend it without hesitation.

The food was excellent and the wine was reasonably priced - all in all, it was a good meal. The layout of the restaurant is charming and it is decorated nicely. I'd love to award five stars but the front of house must have been having a rough day: our booking was completely missing, and they scrambled to get us a table when they realised it was their fault, but it left us standing around for awhile without a seat. Two items were forgotten on our orders which we never received, and one dish took over an hour to be brought to the table. Not the best first impression but they do have a strong reputation locally so I'm keen to come back another time.

Nice and cosy place with authentic Greek food and very helpful staff. The portions are more like meze (tapas), but the prices are decent. I ordered a pork souvlaki and received 2 skewers with good quality of meat and chips. The price was about £7.50, so less than what you would spend in a pub for a burger. The plates are small, but the taste and the quality of the food is good. There are no souvlaki wraps in the menu, but you will find other Greek delicacies like "Bougiourdi" (melted feta cheese with peppers, tomato and chilli) and more. Don't forget to order pita bread and dips (smoked aubergine, spicy feta, etc) for starters and a Greek beer. We will be back :)
