If you want the cheapest and fastest Thai food in London (and your not fussed with spicy..) THIS IS THE PLACE. We come to did place for nearly 10 years.. in Kilburn and we never got disappointed. To be totally honest this last time was a little too spicy even for me. But with an average of 11 pounds x dish (and with a LOT of food in your plate for your dosh!!) Can't moan too much. If you like Thai, spicy and your near Kilburn.. its a NO brainer!!

Absolute nonsense food white rice with soya sauce and noodle with some kind of sweet chilli even i could make this kind of food not restaurant standard and rude staff i donnt know how this place is so busy cleary people nowadays dont have taste buds

I don’t understand the negative reviews for this spot. The food was wonderful, came out quickly and hot, and the service was lovely!! They are cash only which is posted on the front door. As a visitor to London, I haven’t always felt super welcomed but this place is an exception :) Highly recommend!!

Do not recommend this place!! I’ve been a loyal customer for years as I used to enjoy the food but they’ve increased the prices so much and the customer service is awful. The quality of the food has gone worse and the prices increased and I’m tired of continuously being disrespected by the Pakistani/ Indian man who works there who has always been so rude, unpleasant and aggressive and has literally told me and my family to ‘get out’ when he makes multiple mistakes which other workers have to sort out and apologise for. I used to like this place a lot but I will never go back there again. They’ve lost a very loyal customer.

Quick and delicious thai food. A hidden gem in Kilburn that's not to be missed. I always get the beef with ginger and garlic but everything on the menu is pretty good

Best good value for money Thai Restaurant in town!I only do take away from here as the ambient is really poor but the quality of food and the portions are unbeatable. Just a note they only accept cash.

This place has been my go to thai place good price and good food, however, one of the kind members of staff made us aware that the vegetarian menu is not fully vegetarian going on to inform us that the currys contain preprepared sauces contains fish oil. When asked on previous occasions they had said clearly that it wouldn't be a problem to make it completely veg not contains any fish or oyster sauce ( non veg items) only for us to be told on this last occasion thst it does and that they don't really pay any attention to cross contamination. Personally I would recommend this place for non veg people unfortunately not for anyone else any more.

Lovely food they should expand to a bigger restaurant

Red curry was extremely oily, I’m so disappointed to have spent £11 on this dish. If I wanted oil I would’ve got it from the supermarket. To make things worse they charge extortionate amount.

I’ve been eating here for over 17 years and my in-laws for as long as they’ve been open! Even though we live nowhere near now, still pop in or takeaway once a quarter. It’s consistently good food, nothing fancy, just really flavoursome and generous portions. Any beef or chicken dish, set to your favourite flavour - you’ll thoroughly enjoy.

Food was so so delicious and the service was incredibly fast and efficient! Definitely highly recommend to anyone looking for a decent meal for reasonable pricing. Will 100% eat there again, also the tables come with servings of chilli flake oil, green pepper oil and soy sauce so you can add spice for your personal palate, which I adore 🌶

I was a customer for 6-7 years.Unfortunately within a year they increase the price many times. 1.Expensive!!! Not the same quality of food but charged like restaurants price! 2.Food not the same like before! Maybe chef changed or ingredients changed.Food was mixed cold and warm! maybe they precooked? 3.Bad smell from the food,probably old oil or they reusing the same oil! 4.Spring roll was rubbish! Inside don’t know what is that but wasn’t possible to eat ,so I haven’t eat,only 1 bite but still paid! 5.Very dirty tea pot! 6.Will I come back?Well all who I know like 12 people used to come here but they told me not to go there anymore because it’s not the same food anymore!

Keeps upping the prices and unfortunately, getting quite expensive there now. Tbh food was great for the price it was when it was cheaper as it was reasonably decent food and quick although sometimes the chicken is a bit ropey there. Basically it's good but not a £11 pound a dish good. At that price I would rather eat elsewhere. To the owner I would say, don't get to greedy sir. Can't lie won't be going there for a while.

Hygiene concern. Insect found in rice in Thai greens curry meal, sewage smell lower ground. Would not recommend.

I've been coming to this place for years. Used to be really good food and good value for money but now they're just taking the mickey. I appreciate cost of living but to almost double your price and give smaller portions you have lost all integrity and my business. Remember when times where hard and you were profiteering from it. You only accept cash which I can't believe has been running for this long so clearly you're not even paying the correct tax and probably pay your staff below minimum wage cash. Its hurts me to say this but this place has become and absolute con.

This place serves the best Thai food from London. If you want great food this is your best choice, if you are on a first date, go elsewhere as it is not the most designed restaurant of London

The food from this establishment always second to none. Fresh and Delicious. The service was very good. My order was taken over the phone and waiting time for delivery was quick, maybe about half an hour.

Food is very good especially their stir fry dishes, always so much “wok hay”. Prices gone up, uses a large plate to make their portions bigger, also basil fried rice over salted and too much Msg.

First time at Spicy Basil and definitely not the last! The food is generous and well priced with a lot of variety. The only downside is that they don’t take card payments so I had to find a cash point. Other than that I recommend for a quick, tasty and filling lunch or dinner

The best Thai food in london. Everything is authentic about this place. The dishes are extremely tasty. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is buzzing. The portions are big and despite a small price rise, it's still great value for money. The Chicken Satay and Pad Thai are my favourite dishes.

Lovely food as always, good service, price has gone up a bit but the portions are good and I just love the food since 2009 and I'm very happy they are still going strong although I think they should open a branch in South London 😀

The first time I ate here a year ago the food was okay. The last 3 times my partner and I gave it the benefit of the doubt but it was horrible. The was chicken was boiled it was like eating bouncy chicken it made me feel sick. The beef was rock hard and extremely fatty. The customer service is not good. I won’t be returning again. The prices on their online website are not reflective of what the actual price is. I told them about it and they said they didn’t care, not their problem.

One of the worst customer service I’ve had in any establishment. I’ve been here many times, I never usually write reviews. After making a mistake on the order, I had to drive back half an hour to then be accused of falsifying (after spending £95). It was unbelievable, I was speechless at the exchange. I wasn’t even that upset until she accused me of rewriting the order saying I may have just added it in. It was my wife’s birthday, and soured the whole evening. I can’t believe the sheer disgruntled mess and attitude, I would have let it go if it wasn’t for the attitude and the accusations. I’ve been here many times. This is terrible.

One of the worst services I’ve ever experienced at any dining establishment. Spent near a £100 and instead of owning up to their mistake, tried to blame me for fabricating a missing order for dumplings on my wife’s birthday. (Spend a £100 to make a fuss over £6 dumplings loool wow) I wasn’t even that upset I just wanted acknowledgement, instead was accused by this pony tailed angry faced lady. Really, genuinely upset with this service and I hope you don’t go there to experience it. I was in shock more than anything. Really made me sick to have my integrity questioned in a such a manner.

Torn between 4 or 5 stars. The food itself was fresh and flavourful so 5 stars for that, however this place only takes cash and no investment into the actual aesthetic of the business. Just seems like a generic cafe and not a high level of cleanliness is maintained. Not really a fan of Gold sack - dumplings thought very nice

Wayyy too much sauce, like reduce to a quarter .. not authentic, not Thai , more Chinese 😩😫 disappointing , cheap though

We always order take away. What I really like is the fact that the kitchen is visible to everyone, so you have 100% guarantee the food is fresh and the kitchen and cooks are maintaining high standards of hygiene. The food is delicious and we refer at lest 3 times a month It's a cash only restaurant, so make sure you have it ready when you go.

Cash only service and they are so rude. I tried to order on the phone and the guy kept screaming it’s cash only at me. I will definitely never order from here or visit again. With your 0 hygiene and rats you should do better.

Probably the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to in London in terms of authenticity! It's cash only so please please don't make the mistake we did without reading reviews prior to going and ended up walking round trying to find a cash machine once we got there and saw the sign on the door. It's a very small restaurant so do try to avoid busy lunch and dinner hours even though we got there around half 1 on a Sunday and it wasn't as busy as we had expected. It did get filled up very quickly though as soon as we sat down and people kept coming in and going. We ordered the prawn spring rolls and chicken and prawn dumplings for starters and would really recommend the dumplings. The sweet soy sauce with the generous portion of pork and prawn filling went so well together, the soy sauce went really nicely with white rice too. We then had the pad Thai with king prawns and beef green curry that came with a very generous portion of white rice. Wow, that green curry completely blew my mind away, I was simply speechless as I had the first bite...it was so creamy, thick, rich and flavourful that I couldn't stop eating it with the rice - an absolutely heavenly pairing. Pad Thai was also really great, big portion of noodles with generous amount of king prawns that were plump. The sauce was well done with a good balance of tamarind and fish sauce but I wish there were a bit more eggs. Spring rolls were average so I wouldn't recommend ordering them. Overall, for the price of £32.30 for 2 people this was an amazing lunch in zone 2 of London. I really can't recommend this place more. Not only because of the food, but also the family-run vibes it gave and how quick the service was. From ordering to serving it only took them 5 minutes and everything was prepared fresh in front of you! I am so glad I discovered this place and will be coming back regularly to try everything else on the menu.

Not sure why this restaurant slowly slides down the Google review ratings. It has always been good for years. Best Thai scran in North West London surely and at very good value. It does not the largest dining area and can be a bit greasy when sat indoors with the close proximity of the kitchen. Spicy Basil still delivers very tasty Thai food without the high prices.

AMAZING! CASH ONLY. Food was the best Thai I’ve ever had. Spring rolls (veggie), chicken + prawn dumplings, green curry chicken, chicken pad Thai were all so great. I’d especially recommend the green curry. The staff members were so kind and very attentive. The food came out incredibly fast and everything was hot and delicious. Casual, family environment with many choices so everyone can find something to eat. Come here if you are in the area and in the mood for a great meal.

Food is great but cash only clearly avoiding tax. I was a few pennies short of cash and they would not even let that go had to go get more cash out. The restaurant floor is very greasy and grimy as well as a stench when going downstairs.

Best halal Thai food and friendly staff.

There was a Bengali guy who was very rude and did not have any manners, first of all I went with my family and it was 5 of us, they messed up 3 of the plates and the other 2 was fine, then when we tried to change it the Bengali guy told us that he will change it but we have to pay for the ones that are wrong, then he started being rude and raising his voice in front of customers.

One of the best thai spots in london i come here 2-3 times a week service is great so is the food i always get the thai green curry and fried rice (brown style) and it never disappoints.

Beef noodles rubbery. Portion size reduced. Service was poor as rice came straight away and by the time the curry arrived, the rice was cold. Staff were hovering around waiting for us to leave as other customers were waiting. Had similar experiences on two separate occasions. Prices going up with service going downhill. Used to be a great meal and venue, but not any more. Not a go to place anymore but if I do go again and its better, I will happily update this review.

The food is full of flavour king prawn pad Thai is one my favourite dish. The chicken Green Thai curry is also very nice with egg fried rice. The sitting in the restaurant is not very comforting the tables are all very close together and makes you feel very claustrophobic.

We have been coming to this place from far for the past 6 years. The quality of the food has never changed as it always is amazing. Portions are decent. Just wish they could expand as the entrance of the restaurant (top floor) is very small and people tend to bump in to each other a lot.

Food not really good, you can do much better at home, why would anyone spend money on bad food?

The vegetables were cut really large, I wish they were cut into more manageable sizes, also I felt like they really need to upgrade their furniture and plates because it’s really dated. Flavours were good but overall atmosphere was lacking

Unfortunately my experience of this place has always been going downhill. I will not blame the service staff - because thats what you pay for - a relatively budget restaurant. However the trick is that they make you feel its a budget place because you are NOT PAYING VAT. Payment is strictly on CASH ONLY - and that too on a handwritten coded paper bill. I would much rather be paying VAT and seated a bit more decently (rather than someone seated opposite me watching me eat) with better service. This was all acceptable had it not been for the food - which is certainly a non negotiable. It has consistently been going down. Recent experience - One of the dishes ordered was Chicken in Creamy Red Thai Sauce. I felt the chicken was under cooked so had to return it for better cooking. It was re done and still remained at that rubbery/ chewy levels with insistence that it has been freshly prepared. My taste buds refused to agree with the statement and the certification. Maybe - thats me.

Loved the Thai red & green curry in particular accompanied by their deliciously spicy chili oil. It was so good we went twice!

Awful customer service. “Vegetarian” dishes have fish sauce. The manager instead of taking responsibility or offering a substitute, in a loud voice mentioned, allergies have to be notified. Toilet hygiene is reflective of the attitude. Cash only, when I kept the paper bill, I was told they will give a VAT receipt.

I order the spicy beef noodles and it tastes divine each and every time! Ate it just before I went into Labour. My absolute favourite, highly recommend

Great Asian halal food, many varieties of Thai and Asian food, I love it

Wanted to give it a try as word of mouth says it’s the best Thai in London. The place is uncomfortably small, not particularly clean or good looking. Service is poor. I wouldn’t care too much if the food was outstanding. I ordered dumplings and noodles. They are expensive, I’m no Thai restaurants expert but I had a chance to visit similar restaurants in central and west London more than once and those other restaurants felt, looked and tasted much better so in no way shape or form this can be the best Thai in London. My tummy was upset and I was sick for days after eating here so I guess their hygiene standards must be as poor as everything else.
