Spice Lounge in Hyndburn

Beautiful food, been a number of times and always enjoyed. Not the busiest restaurant think it is more takeaways but never spoils our trip with how lovey the food and the staff are always very welcoming. Would definitely reccomended.

We had a midweek visit for a very good meal here. It was the first time I’d been here for quite a while & the first time others had ever been, we were all impressed with the food and also the friendly service. One of our group wasn’t sure what he liked/wanted so the waiter came up with a dish to match his requests- brilliant. Well worth a visit & I’m sure we’ll be visiting again

Have had a meal delivery and eat in before and decided to order a delivery again 4 Dec 2020 and what a mistake Jalfrezi was disgusting like it had come out of a tin and mixed meat was chewy to give it a compliment Vegetable Korma, actually nice just too much to eat Bhaji undercooked an d awful! Tasteless Nan and tasteless rice! Waste of Money!

Ordered a takaway took an hour and ten minutes. Onion bajis cold soggy and tasteless tandoori chicken tasteless and cold. Popcorn chicken was little pieces of hard battered chicken also cold. The whole lot went in the bin. WORST FOOD EVER

The prices in the menu don't seem to add up to the prices that I was charged. And if they do, then they are way too expensive. Anaz in Darwen is in another league to this place and is well known to be expensive, but the spice lounge tops them in price. The food is ok, and that's it, id describe it as just a bit disappointing which is obviously not what u want when u go out. I 100% will not be going back.

5 of us dined here last night NYE and I think we have been extremely overcharged! We had 2 poppadoms each with the chutney trays. Then we all had a starter plus main course. Our bill was £174.00!! There was of course drinks but even so I'm assuming unless pints of lager are £10 a pint I can't understand why the bill came to £174.00. We tried to work out what was charged on the receipt but you just couldn't read the writing nor work out what each thing was. We left quite perplexed but it's only since really trying to work it out we do think we have been completely overcharged. Last week we dined at a place in Darwen there were 14 of us and that bill was only £50 more expensive! I'm so annoyed we didn't dispute it there and then absolute idiots! Great start to the new year!

We visit here every couple of months for a Friday night treat and the food is always excellent. The staff are friendly and welcoming and though it can appear quiet at times, don't let that put you off as I don't think we've ever had a bad experience there yet of many years.

Myself and my family wanted to try the sunday buffet at the Spice Lounge. We arrived soon after they opened so had a little wait til the food was put out but it was fresh and hot. The staff were very friendly. We was shown to our table which had poppadoms and dip waiting for us. Once the food was ready, we was given the nod to help ourselves. There was a small selection of starters, salad and about five different curries to try plus rice chips and naan. The food was lovely. All the food was labelled and everyone enjoyed themselves. There was also a small selection of desserts to choose from. We will definitely go again.

Went in today to sample the Sunday buffet and we honestly couldn't fault it. Great food, great atmosphere and the most polite friendly staff we've ever met !! Nothing was to much trouble and they really do go the extra mile. We will definitely be back !!

I have been using spice lounge for several years... love the place.. The owners cant do enough for you.. Naga chilli meat balls are my favourite.. I've tried other curry restaurants around and nothing compares.. Your never rushed or hurried and the food is always tip top.. Keep up the good work guys.... see you soon..

The food here is the best around, Good service, polite staff ... Did I mention how good the food is! However, it could do with a bit of sprucing up, it is very clean but the paintwork is showing signs of wear

People travel from miles away to visit this little gem.....! The food is always spot on. I have tried lots of dishes and loved them all. The staff seem genuinely nice and can’t do enough. Overall.... if you love a great curry in a fantastic setting at a good price give it a try....!

Spice Lounge is family owned and run by two brothers and their wives. They have been in residence at the old Shepherds Rest pub above Blackburn and Rishton - gateway to The Ribble Valley - for almost 20 years. There are no shortage of Indian restaurants in the area and some, like The Shajan on the A59, very well known and popular. Others, like the Spice Lounge, appear a lot quieter - but do not be fooled. Don’t even be fooled by areas of thread bare carpet, or indeed a general feeling that the place is a little tired. Do not be diverted from the flavour and quality of the food and the genuine hospitality of the owners and their staff. So many Indian restaurants do not offer bad food, however, finding somewhere that offers good - and non generic - Indian food is always exciting. Certainly, The Spice Lounge can dish-up a Chicken Tilkka Masala or a lamb Korma - but put yourself In the owners hands and I am pretty sure you will not be disappointed ! There are some great fish dishes and several with names and combinations of ingredients I haven’t seen before. My visit this evening was the first after a gap of many years, but I was delighted to discover Spice Lounge all over again. I ate a dish featuring heavily spiced mixed meat balls in a rich and creamy onion sauce which seemed Madras hot. Really light and tender meat balls and a very satisfying sauce with rice and a Nan bread. First class ! The main was preceded by a chicken chat purri starter with salad and a choice of sweet or coffee to finish - all at an early bird £9.99 ! I will be back again soon to explore what look like fantastic fish and king prawn dishes on the main menu. FAB !

We had the early bird dinner just £9.95 for 3 courses. The food was delicious. The were staff very polite. Not sure why it was so quiet as it was all lovely and worth a visit. We will go back.

Drove past a hundred times over the years. Then my brother said he had been in for a meal reluctantly because the car park was always empty. He said the food was excellent. So, my son and his wife, my wife and I decide to try it. one car on the car park and that was the guy who does the takeaway delivery. What a pleasant surprise. the food was excellent. The owner and the staff were friendly and efficient. We now have an Indian Restaurant we can not only recommend but will be visiting often. Ignore the empty car park people use taxis to get there and well worth the visit.

Just come back from a fabulous meal. Can't fault the food or the service. Best indian restaurant I've been to in ages. Will definitely be back.

Called in for a 3 course for £9.95 meal. The restaurant was not particularly warm, nor busy. But the food quality, amount and service were excellent. Great choices on this menu and no skimping on size of portion.

Went out for Xmas doo with the lads food was to die for and the service was excellent. Will be back this year if not next..

The food and the service here is the best. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We visit the restaurant and use the takeaway services both are superb, quick and efficient, our curry house of choice

Sweet Shashlik to die for !!! Came in with family, and asked for recommendations, and what a great recommendation they gave me. AMAZING !!!! Great decor and a really clean cosy place. Quality service even though the restaurant was full. Definitely coming back.

Four of us came here for a meal for the first time. The place was freezing cold and the toilet doors were open and smelt quite a lot. We were seated and we ordered popadums and pickle tray, 2 curries, a portion of chips and 4 chappati. The curry arrived quickly which was great but the food portions were small and contained more chunky onions than chicken and lamb. The food was bland and tasteless. The chips were nasty and the pickle tray was dry unflavoured onions and strange looking cokeslaw. Would not go again

We ordered for delivery. Food came on time but was shocked to see a small carton of rice. For the money your paying i would expect a little more. Food did taste great will return. Soon.

Absolutley outstanding service, they go above and beyond! Lovely people. Had my brother in laws 18th birthday party there amazing food and great welcoming. Catered for my sister in laws party and they made sure everything was perfect as always. Deffinatly recommend to anybody. Beautiful view and surroundings lovely inside. Couldn't fault it at all. Amazing food and really lovely staff. Have been here multiple times and always great service. Will be going again! We have even attended a birthday party here and had outside catering. Excellent hospitality

What can I say, from start to finish absolutely fantastic service and great food. Nice view and surroundings,you can see Blackpool Tower from the place. Definitely recommend this place.

We ordered a takeaway from here as a change from our usual balti house in Rishton and were not as impressed with the quality or taste.

Having booked our table over the phone, I wished we had not bothered. From the moment we entered we where looked at like we where from Mars. Food was awful, tasteless, kinda like what you'd find in Asda - just reheated.

Having been here many times and enjoyed I returned with my family. Unfortunately the portion sizes have halved but the prices have stayed the same. The food was lovely, there just wasn't enough! Staff are great here and their bar area is great too!

Very tasty Biryani and onion Bhajis. My wife had a delicious fish Tandoori. Place was clean and recently redecorated. It was quiet (weds evening.) Service was pleasant and friendly and we were not rushed to our next course. Prices reasonable, Kingfisher Lager very cold.

Very Disappointed, we have ordered from here many times and had always been top food, never disappointed, today we got 3 Currys bhuna dansak and Korma the chicken was very dry the lamb was full of fat, the currys were 5 star in the past, today only 1 star do I order again, yes I'll try again everyone has a bad day every now and again,

Apsoloutly brilliant!!! I've been eating from this place since it first opened sometimes the food is good and other times tasteless and watery but the meal we ordered last night was outstanding from the starter to the main meal had full of flavour with a tasty thick sauce just how we like a curry, full compliments to the chef that made it seriously impressed please keep to this standard and we will defo be regular customers again... thank you spice lounge! 😊

The food was good but the Biryani use to have more Dahl... Plus it was 30mins longer than the confirmed time of delivery.

I have eaten at spice lounge a few times, on this occasion the food was awful, it arrived late and cold I had to re-heat most of it and then when I finally got to eat it the food that wasn't bland and tasteless was revolting... really angry will not be ordering again!

Food excellent only thing I would moan about was the naan breads very doughy with very little flavour. Garlic naan was like a plain naan and keema naan could do with flavour. Curries excellent

An Indian Restaurant in a former pub, in the countryside, but within reach of a few towns, it has a car park and only one small step for access, though there are steps inside with handrails. They are in the process of converting an area to become a daytime café. Food is good and service very friendly. spacious and comfortable. Probably because it is a little remote, it offers a very good value early bird through the week and buffet on Sunday. Drinks reasonable and menu extensive including many specials. It has a big map of India on one wall, but the dishes probably originate from different countries.

Ordered 3 tandoori roti but only 1 delivered. First mistake out of many orders. Food was great as usual.

Went for a birthday meal with friends on a Monday night. We all went for the 3 course for £10 meal. Great choice and the food was lovely. Freshly cooked and piping hot. The restaurant was pretty quiet but the service was fast and they couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely return

Food was nowhere near the quality it is when in restaurant, the starters and sides were cold and the tikka masala was very oily, my plate was full of oil!

No flavor at all, which was disappointing as curries are normally really good for here.

Our order was incorrect when delivered - not a massive issue really but slightly irritating. No poppadoms/chutney as ordered but did have an extra Garlic Naan Bread. If they had ran out of ingredients I would have preferred a phone call to let me know. Food was ok, nothing special.

Everything was fine except the kebab and naan hardly any sauce and only a few chicken pieces

Normally the food is usually good from here pricey but worth it however the last few times the curries haven't been good

Gave 50 min estimate and came in 20! We enjoyed our meal although couldn't eat it all! Whilst the food was excellent, I feel that my lamb was slightly over done and chewy as where I prefer it to drop off the bone and melt. My only criticism! Enjoyed my cobra beer

Beer was missing and when we phoned was replaced by a smaller bottle.

Yes Twenty years old and still very good value, the 4:30 - 6:30 pizzas are great for the price, the decor and service are very good. This is a great bar for young and old, call in and enjoy.

Ordered a mild pasanda curry was sent a extreamly hot spicy curry . Rang and told them they sent another meal out but guess what they sent a korma the second time . Why don't they just say they don't have it. Won't use them again !!

Love food here but temperature when it arrives let's the place down, i don't mind waiting for good food but make sure the food isn't cooked and ready to go before you have a driver to deliver please.

Can't fault the delivery as it was bang on time! The portion sizes are really great too, I hadn't reviewed previous ratings prior to ordering but I can agree with some of them. Me and my wife are used to more depth of flavour and spice, but the meals ordered were bland, the green chillies weren't spicy too. I'd recommended it to those who like milder meals. Another big plus is that the meals are not swimming in too much oil. As we got a takeaway I would return but in-house, just to give them another go.

Very quick service, nice selection on menu and very well packaged. Everything arrived correctly and nice and hot.

First time trying Spice Lounge tonight and I was very impressed. Will definitely use again. (Can't really comment on restaurant service as it was home delivery with no special requests, but delivery driver was polite enough so have given 4 stars in order to be fair)

Best curry i've had in a long time!

Rice, chips and naan all cold and korma was tasteless too much sauce and only a few pieces of chewy chicken

I find sometimes at spice lounge the curry is very watery and flavourless so I requested that the meal be cooked to a thick consistency full of flavour and it delivered bigtime... Excellent meal will definitely order again!

There was lots of meat in the curry which was great,however my lamb rogan Josh had hardly any spice or depth. My boyfriends korma was also flavourless. The naan was nice and not soggy which it can be from some places but I ordered garlic and it tasted plain! The delivery was also 20 minutes late which I dont mind as we live in Blackburn but this should have been anticipated with the ETA.

I have been to this restaurant twice. Pleasant place, nice staff and the food was nice but not great. The Sunday buffet really needs improvement. Sad watery dishes. I would go again, but never for the buffet.
