Spice House in Ballymoney

Just wow! It’s been a while since curry has been on the menu at spice house in ballymoney, but now that I’ve finally gotten my chance to try it I understand the hype! Typically I would order a chicken pakora kebab on naan, but tonight’s meal has changed my mind on my regular order. I got the onion bhaji starter, which was served with two large bhajis, and a sauce- i love these, a classic takeaway essential. The curry I got was the butter chicken, which I’ve never tried before but will absolutely be getting again! Very flavourful without being spicy. I paired this with the cheese and garlic naan. The price for such a big meal was incredibly fair, it was enough for two people for sure. The staff were lovely as always and the naan was straight from the tandoor, just how it should be 🔥🔥🔥

Dirty place, food lying on the floor around the kebab machine, tongues mixed between foods. The reason to large portions is that all food is frozen for probably years and most food is microwaved. Looked very understaffed and supervised only by one adult, other workers looked too young to work in the kitchen.

Order regularly from here nice kebabs not a bad size portion of meat. Salad always fresh but just one criticism please stop putting jarred mint sauce in the cabbage and it would be even better. Can understand lovely chopped fresh parsley herbs but mint sauce out of a jar?

This used to be the best place in the town but it’s went down hill massively. Food is horrible! Delivery takes well over an hour if you’re lucky, the food arrives Luke warm and soggy.

No other words but terrible, pizza was burnt,chips weren't cooked,only positive thing I can say was delivery was on time

Had a bad experience and told this to the wee girl on phone I was willing to give it a second try and the food and service from her was absolutely beautiful well pleased spice house should employ more staff like her and they will go far portion's where fresh and massive very very impressed

We order from spice house every week. Tonight we waited 3 hours for our food . Rang first time told it would be 15 mins 40 mins later still nothing rang again and told it still wasn’t made and would have to be remade. Then to be told to cancel it if we didn’t want to wait after waiting 3 hours. Will be the last order ever made

Never order out of this place ordered a munchy box and the whole lot of it was warmed up about at least 3 times spice India is your best bet !!!!

Aw the kebabs are class, I would eat one every night, but just a treat now and again. Yum yum.

Order 4 pizzas.... that was my first mistake One was cold, had peppers when asked for none and had raw mushrooms added AFTER it had been cooked One had NO base and the dough was slightly raw Another was swimming in bbq base and was over cooked.... Chips where cold, order was late getting made so collection was delayed. All round disaster, never again

I have ordered several times. The food is very much the old-fashioned way the Indian's prepared food for the British. I wish they would prepare the food they would eat at home, not for the European palate.

Really surprised at this place, food used to be great. Got a delivery this evening, chips drowned in sauce, soggy, lacking flavour and an overwhelming taste of mint! It will be the last order.

Where to start, delivery was super quick which wasnt a good sign. Freezing cold when i got it. Obviously no hot boxes or bags to transport the food. £5 for a portion of chicken pakora which im more than happy to pay, i know the price involved in the production of this kind of food. Well when. Say i was happy to pay, that was a mistake. 4 absolutely pointless pieces of bland chicken. No spices put plenty of food colouring. Mixed kebab was freezing cold. Ate here before and it wasnt great, shouldnt have bothered trying again. Ill not make the same mistake again. Avoid avoid avoid

Got home food cold, no taste from tikka, garlic bread stone cold greasy, chips like rubber only decent thing garlic mayo

We ordered rotis and sides, chicken and prawn briyani. Atleast one of the dishes could have been better.

Ordered online and came to collect 20 mins or so afterwards. They did not realise my order had been placed. Instead of being honest and explaining, I was told "2 minutes, 2 minutes" while someone was called from the back, clearly the cook, who proceeded to prepare my food. I won't elaborate on what I saw as I'm sure some would be put off going back there. Needless to say, as a chef myself, who has professionally prepared Indian food, I won't be and my order was binned as soon as I walked out with it. This was such a shame. I have heard nothing but fantastic things about this place and the reviews are consistently good. I hope for their sake, my experience was an anomaly.

Had lamb saag, a case of find the lamb. The obviously used frozen spinach? , the dish was full of water Won't be back

Terrible food. Discusting. Popadoms soggy. Not once did staff wash hands the whole time I was there especially when making naan bread then touching other foods and equipment. Storing cooked kebab meat in a cold bae Marie. Never set foot in there again.

I ordered this before 6 and it was supposed to arrive within 45 minutes and 2 hours later after my second phone call I discovered it had been left at the door 10 mins previously (CV19 times so so some leeway). The food was rubbish. No spice just mush. This is about the worst take away we’ve ever had. Not cheap. Honestly rubbish It was like baby food.

Food isn't amazing but it's never greasy, you get generous portions and the delivery people are always friendly. Nice chips and they're open late too.

Everytime I have ordered from this place the food has been first class. The best kebab in all of Ballymoney for sure. They do other food like pizzas and burgers. All the food is brilliant and you won't be waiting more than a few minutes for it!

10/10... We order at the spice house at least twice a month, for the 2 of us or for family/friend meet ups. Can say we’ve never had a bad meal, we’ve become creatures of habits always ordering the Dhansak and Korma. Both meals are full of ingredients and not drenched in oil. The Dhansak is full of spinach, lentils and the korma cause is spot on with the sweetness, it’s sauce has a creamy texture rather than oil and the almond and coconut have a strong influence on the taste. The chef makes the nans to order in the tandoori and it’s hard to fault... Spice House could be a restaurant and is better than some of the Indian restaurants around with the food they dish out to us...

Ordered food via telephone and travelled from Portstewart to collect. The order was not what we had ordered but worse than that it was virtually inedible- £25 wasted! The chicken pakora were over cooked & dried up and they came without a dip. The mixed meat kebab comprised only of doner meat and chicken pakora- there was no sauce, salad or anything else with it -disgusting! The biryani was tasteless , the sauce with it contained frozen vegetables and was bland. When I telephoned to complain, the girl who had taken my order initially was unhelpful, rude and a downright liar. I then spoke with the manager who suggested that he could provide us with a free kebab next time- no thanks, the one we got tonight was horrible, really don’t want another one & there definitely won’t be a next time! Avoid this place like the plague you will save yourself some time and money by going elsewhere- we certainly will not be back.

I am from India and honestly this was the worst indian food I have ever tried. We ordered chicken tikka masala which was nowhere close to its name. The main ingredients were sugar and coconut. We clearly did not need to order a dessert. The naan was very thick and tasteless. Tadka daal was just boiled lentil. Do not waste your money here.

I have been here quite a few times food was ok nothing special but ok if your hungry, now the food is disgusting and the price has gone up, I won't be back, dreadful place.

Dissapointed to say the least! ordererd food for delivery, 1 hour later I rang in to ask if it was on it's way as it was late, got told that they were waiting on the driver to come back said it should be around 10 mins. 30 minutes later I ring in again as the food hadn't arrived! got told it will be 5 minutes for it to come cold!! Had to wait in total of 2 hours for my food today, living just down the road! There shouldn't be a delivery option if you can't keep up with it! This isn't the first time this has happened because it's everytime I get something from here, never again! Be faster getting Dominoes from Coleraine delivered.

We have been enjoying this location since it opened, always busy but worth waiting for. For the past few visits waiting and delivery times have been unrealistic, due to the quality of the good we have put up with the poor service. Tonight has been the final call, unrealistic waiting time and the quality of food so poor.. Fingers crossed we get a new curry option in town as Spice House has run its course... Gutted.. Fingers crossed people won't waste their money waiting for hours for what is now a very poor curry....

Delivery could take up to 90 minutes but is certainly worth waiting for. We normally order the £20 meal deal for 2. With this you get 2 starters, 2 mains with rice of your choice, naan bread & 2 cans of soft drink, poppadoms & a dip. Portions are huge so this does us for 2 nights. The chicken punjabi masala & lamb jalfrezi are excellent.

Disappointed with our order the past 2 times, it has been delivered late & been cold....2nite I ordered online....said 45 mins for delivery or 25 mins for collection....20 mins difference? We only live a few minutes drive away!!....dont know if we will order again, food is good but not when it's cold!!

Like the food when I order but I have waited a hour and 30 minutes so far on one pizza it is a week day so they won't be rushed of there feet I have rung to ask about my order and it hasn't even left the shop yet not impressed at all with this service

Went her every weekend for a Doner Box was in last Sat and sad to say it will be may last they have put the price up Ok still got a good box now the box is the same size but not as full and very greasey had to through it out and the dog did not eat it very sorry but going down hill

If you are wanting a quick indian takeaway, then this one may suffice. Mind you, after tasting their food, I cant help denying that it was 'Authentic Indian Cuisine' as stated on their marketing efforts. I would have prefared to travel to Coleraine for more traditional indian tastes. However, this sufficed and we did feel full at the end.

Ordered a mixed donner box kebab, however there was only 3 pieces of chicken tikka! The pakora and chips were a bit rubbery but tasted fine. Donner meat was a bit colder than it should have been, disappointed as I usually enjoy this takeaway :/

Didn't give me any chips . Food was cold. Had been sitting for ages, even though extra time was added to my collection time. Disgraceful

As usual got burger wrong, it isn't so hard to read an order! I wouldn't be annoyed if this was first time though constantly happening

Staff are always really friendly. The best curries in the town, by far! Recommend the Dansak and Patia. Never let's us down. Keep up the good work!

Nightmare!!!!! Ordered at 6pm. Didn't get food delivered until 8:30pm. 2 and a half hours for a delivery like. And when order was delivered had to pay extra £2.00 on top of the pre paid order. Food wasn't as to what I had ordered but wasn't for waiting another 2 and half hours for delivery of my proper order. Staff were very unhelpful and would give me even a part refund because of wrong order or late delivery. Definitely will not be ordering from them again!!!!! Shame to give them one star coz they don't even deserve any.

Love the food in here , kebabs are massive , currys nice although I like my tikka masala less coconutty ( have had in the past ) but the food is freshly made and delicious , and my fussy teenager loves the korma so it's a hit all round

Forgot a tin of Fanta, which is on this as a tin of tango. Was paid in advance and driver said he may leave it in if he was passing later.
