Had a takeaway and paid £13 for 2 chunks of chicken sliced up to make it look like more and a very thin sauce. A complete rip off and will not be ordering again and won't be recommending

Whether there for breakfast or a grill the food and service has always been good. My local grill but would recommend this to anyone.

Its very busy restaurant and bar ,service was good and quick

The food and service was good. The beer let them down. I had Guinness, it was like drinking water, there was no consistency to the drink. After the first pint, I thought might have bottom of the barrel, so went for another one just to confirm. Again, like I was drinking a soft water based drink. I will not be drinking Guinness in this place again!

Family night out!! We enjoyed a family mixed grill night at Special Spices last night. Food and service was good. Family friendly pub and well priced drinks. Mixed grill was a generous portion. I also enjoyed the chilli chicken and chilli fish. Fish pakoreh were cold and tasted slightly old so dropped a star for this. But would be back again to give it another go

Been there twice to meet my future business parthers and we seated in the Pub area of the restaurant, the atmosphere needs a bit of tweaking to further attracts more wide range of drinking adults, but for now it works for people who already used to it, one thing that really annoys is when the waiting staffs keeps on asking and coming back for our glasses whlist we are having a meeting, i felt like i need to get order drinks, food or else vacate the seat.

Banging food, so good went for dinner and then lunch the next day. Prices are good and bar prices also very good. Only slight would be it felt cold in there, but nothing else to say negatively about the place

I am truly disgusted! I visited this place with my Muslim friend, we asked if the food was halal and the manager said yes. We later found out that the food is not halal! Avoid at all costs. Food was below average and staff were very rude

One of the best indian cuisine experience. High value for money and very tasty. Would highly recommend the mixed grilled platter and chillie chicken lollipop which was delicious. Staff was also very friendly and the loved the peaceful environment. Also I loved te Kulfi and Gulab Jamun 🤭

My family and I (party of 8) went here for breakfast this morning. We ordered various paratah for everyone, including our 16 Yr old daughter and 12 Yr old son. They ordered Aloo paratah. We advised person at till that we had 2 children in our party, which he could also see from where he was serving. We've had paratah at various other restaurants, and home of course. These were way too hot and spicy. Our children didn't eat them, and it spoilt their meal. Baby sized portions of yogurt to go with large paratah. You have to pay for yogurt seperately. If you want extra butter you have to pay for that too. Paratah were brought out at different times. Some with, and some without yogurt. My paratah went cold by the time my yogurt arrived. Some people had finished by the time others had just started eating. Some tips for the owners: When ordering paratah or alike, advise customers of spice levels. Then either ask chefs to adjust, or offer alternative like plain parath in this case. Where there are multiple customers serve food together, and in one go. Provide pickle/achaar foc too. If charging for yogurt, then give a breakfast bowl size like other places. Butter should be foc Else they look like money making operation which currently they are. Not focusing on their customer demographic/experience.

We came here with friends who are regular visitors, and we can see why - no frills, just superb Indian food in a pub setting. Our friends demolished an enormous mixed grill, while I had paneer with red peppers and onion, which was outstanding. Paneer is my go-to Indian dish, and this was soft, nicely spiced, delicious. My husband said the same about his lamb rogan josh. Service was efficient, with very friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to our next visit!

Great pub, friendly people, good selection of beers. Pub's own car park, dining and bar area separate. Clean place, reasonable prices, tasty food must try. Food is only served from 3.00PM. Service has improved and so has the tasty food

This is a very very good Indian Restaurant/Takeaway, I am new to the Birmingham area and unfortunately come from the Bradford ends, this has beaten any takeaway over my normal direction and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

I ordered a takeaway via ubereats asking for 4 mint sauce. They still only sent two which meant I had to eat the rest of the food dry as they don’t bother reading the customer note and still only send two, happens every time I order

First time at Special Spices, went with 8 a group of people, everyone was very impressed with food ,service and prices .soon as you go in the door you can see your going to have a good night.

Fantastic food. Big portions. Food is delivered fast and hot and is very tasty. Lots of sports on the TVs which is not my thing.

Amazing food at affordable prices. They also do cocktails although I hasn’t tried them yet. Their sheesh kebabs are so tasty. The naan are not too thin or too thick just right. Portion sizes are large.

Fantastic place , top food with plenty to choose from ,same as plenty beers to choose from .🍺 Extremely friendly staff and fantastic food ,,and loads of sport to choose from a choice of tv,s . As the evening went on started to fill up ,but everyone still received the same friendly service .

Our local desi pub that was already top marks for their mixed grill, Punjabi BBQ and curries. For the first time we decided to try their Punjabi breakfast, following a recommendation. My wife had the alloo paratha and one Gobi, I had 2 x alloo gobi mix and one keema. They all tasted amazing, portion wise they are fairly large but worth saying unlike other restaurants where the dough is thick, these paranthas were well filled but thin and crispy. Note- I ordered way more than I actually thought I could eat..2 paranthas is more than enough so for me the 3rd was taken home, but if your up for it, fill your boots! Indian chai was excellent. Overall very tasty and authentic Punjabi food, service was friendly and swift. Value for money very good. Our bill came to £21.00 which included 2 chai's and came with yoghurt (dhain) and butter 💪🏽. Menu has a range of both English items (fry up etc) as well as other Punjabi items like the kulcha and saag & maaki di roti. So will certainly coming back on another Sunday to try!

Masala chips awesome; crispy & spicey - good portion size on mixed grill & strong flavour, a bit too much salt for my taste - overall tasty food & pleasant surroundings.

I am really disappointed in this restaurant. I called up to ask if their chicken is halal and they said it was, but then another week I called up to check again and a different person answered and said it wasn’t halal. I find it absolutely disgusting that you would lie about that and I think this is something more people should know about. As a restaurant you should have integrity and be truthful about these things, because imagine if I was coeliac and you lied about food being gluten free? I’m not happy and will never be ordering from you again

Fabulous food and service, simple as that. Amazing chicken pathia and fish pakora. Drinks served with a smile, food hot and served in reasonable time even when place is packed.

Never fails to impress. Recommend booking a table on line as the place was ramming. The four of us had different curries and everyone of them was outstanding, well done to all involved in this great place.

Consistantly outstanding. Never had a bad meal here. Only complaint is that it is top quality restaurant food in a pub environment. Especially if there is sport on, it can get very loud. Be prepared. That said, I've tried most of the menu over the years and have loved all of it. The sizzling Platter is exceptional, as is the Rajistani Rara Gosh. Try the Galab Jamun and Kulfi puddings too for a real treat! 10/10 best Indian food in the Midlands.

Average food, portions get smaller and smaller. Staff members should learn manners as 90 min after we arrived we were told to leave as the table was reserved but they forgot to tell us. No apologies, not going back there and don't recommend.

Great desi grill excellent vegan options

We've been here twice on the recommendation of a friend and have not been disappointed yet. The food always tastes delicious and the portions are good. It has always been busy when we've been too which brings a nice atmosphere. My only criticism is I would rather our starters and mains came out separately as by the time we'd eaten our mixed grill, the naan and the Currys were cold.

We don’t visit here that often, but that might have to change. I’m not really sure why we don’t make this a regular, but we surely will be soon. The lamb chops are absolutely delicious here. The chicken tikka is soft and tender and they have a good range of drinks available. The location is good and the staff are friendly. Definitely recommend.

Visit for Birthday party. All atmosphere was good and enjoyed the evening with family and friends.

Sadly a lot of pre cooked microwaved food, okay but not as good as fresh out the Tandoor, should be cooked to order, no excuse not to. Sadly lacking compared to other local Desi pubs. Beer options limited as well, asked for 3 different beers and none actually available, gutted, had to settle for s#@t lager.

Mixed grills were ok. Had the chicken vindaloo and did not taste spicy at all. To be honest I have had better grills and curries at other design pubs.

Came here tonight randomly as staying nearby. Couldn't get through on the phone so turned up and was seated. It is pub vibe but serve Indian food, pretty noisy. The food was served pretty quickly and it was very busy. This is more authentic Indian than average British takeaway and the flavours were lovely. The small mixed grill could do 2-3 people! Tikka masala and samosa were a highlight! They will be happy to give you cartons and boxes to take away leftovers. Would recommend!

Got my order wrong for my party that's 1 hour and half away. Left short on food. When complained was told they were sorry but nothing they are willing to do.

I called SS two days before a party we were having. I asked for food for 30 guests (starters mainly). It included fresh salad and good sized portions. everyone commented on how lovely the food was. Thanks very much and will be using you again!

Not paying attention when taking your order (not looking at you) than refusing any sorting of the issue. Not good customer service at all. Restaurant also so loud. I noticed another couple leave because of this too. Wouldn’t recommend.

We took our mom to Special Spices for her 80th birthday treat. Although we are a Caribbean family we struggled to find such a place to accommodate us all and also properly cater for the vegetarians amongst us. Therefore, Special Spice was our favorite choice. The quality of food is made to a high standard and well spiced as you would expect. The Paneer mixed will pollock was sensational. Food is also reasonably priced. The venue can cater very well for large parties or families. There is also some parking available on sight but plenty nearby on the road. We would certainly go again and my mom throughly enjoyed her birthday treat.
