Met a friend for lunch and decided to try Spanish Taste as I often walk past it and wonder what it's like. We arrived about 2pm and sat out in the sunshine. We were settled in for a girlie afternoon of catching up so ordered a lovely bottle of Alberino and looked at the menu. The host suggested we order 6 tapas which we did plus bread and olives. The food arrived and it was delicious. We were really enjoying ourselves when the closed sign was put on the door and the host continually hovered waiting for plates to empty and even tried to take away half eaten dishes. We had to rush down the food and drink half a bottle of wine as he said he wanted to clear as closed.

I lived in Spain, and this is by far the best I've had outside of Spain. In fact, I'd go further- its on a par with my favourite (Asador, Guadalmina, Marbella). Both are exceptional, but its quite something to find such an authentic tapas bar in England. Not only that, but the service was exceptional, with a genuine smile and warm welcome. Please go and try it, you won't regret it! Now we've discovered it, we'll be regulars.

The service was not particularly great. Would've liked to have heard what he would recommend the wine was overpriced and when the food arrived it was cold the paella took a maximum of five minutes which is very quick and the fish it felt like it was microwaved and the mussels in the big shells were hard as arock. The cod Croquettes Where extremely creamy but no cod and actually taste like it's come out of the microwave. The chorizo wine sauce was lovely however the chorizo was cheap or at least felt cheap. We will not be going back quickly. There is a lot better places that have more flavour. It just was bland.

Dropped for late lunch as the Tapas looked very appealing. However, taste did not fully live up to expectations, nice but warm meatballs coupled without any punch of spice left you wanting. Paella was better but three small pieces of chicken was just a bit on the mean side. Spanish omelette was the best with a very good salad accompanying the dish.Regrettable the wine, Albariño, was not chilled sufficiently to show off its exceptional flavours. This is becoming a trend in the Bournemouth area, hope and trust it is restricted to the restaurants we have recently visited. On balance a good meal but undecided about going back.

The food was tasty, hot and great value.Just can't believe I haven't been in before. These are the privately owned personal restaurants that are so typically Mediterranean and should definitely be supported rather than always defaulting back to a coffee shop or a major chain.Considering that the entire meal of three dishes cost not much different to one portion of a similar size from a chain a few months ago; so it seems to be a bargain.

We visited Spanish Taste as a group of four, and having read the generally excellent Trip Advisor reviews in advance, I have to admit that I ended up a little disappoionted. Perhaps my expectations were a little too high but for me, it was just average.Firstly, the good points: the owner was lovely and welcoming, made a real effort to chat to us and nothing was too much trouble for him. I actually feel a bit bad writing this review purely because of him! So for service, 10 out of 10. The atmosphere was also really nice; informal and relaxed, with comfortable seating and a good overall ambience. The only real let down was the food. There was nothing bad as such, no nasty dish that made you think 'yuck!', but also nothing outstanding. We ordered a range of food: paella, tortillas, meatballs, calamari, and various other bits. The plate of manchego cheese was very good, but everything else just seemed a little bland - as if it needed something more to add a little flavour. I've certainly had tastier tapas elsewhere. As a final point on the food, I thought it a bit odd that even the hot courses (meatballs etc) were served in cold stoneware dishes, which meant that they lost heat pretty quickly. I understand that it's a new business and I'd love for Spanish Taste to succeed, but I do think a couple of improvements need to be made first. The service and atmosphere were great, but the food far too average. In its defence, it was exceptionally cheap - but I'd rather pay a little bit more for something tastier.

This nice little place doesn't parade its Spanishness in an OTT for the tourists sort of way, but is all the nicer for that and feels authentic. The food is good, not sensational but then the prices are modest. We went for the daytime offer of three tapas for a fixed low price and chose a different selection so that we could sample six dishes between the two of us. The seafood paella was definitely the best of the bunch, and if we had had time for another visit we would probably have had a full portion of that, but all of our choices were interesting and tasty. I was a little surprised not to find patatas bravas on the standard tapas menu. The only potato dish is on the grande tapas part of the menu and therefore can't be sampled as part of the combined offer. Although I disagree strongly with almost everything said in the one "terrible" review, I do agree that proprietors shouldn't offer an item as "crab" on the menu if it is actually crabstick, which doesn't usually contain any crab, but having said that the menu item described as "crab and mayonnaise" is actually tasty. We would definitely go back to this establishment if we were in the area again. Its opening times are 10am-5pm on Monday to Thursday, 10am-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and closed on Sundays.

I have food intolerance and the owner/waiter has been very helpful all the time and he has really take care about the situation. The food is authentic (I am Spanish) and the taste is great. The restaurant is nice and charming. This restaurant has been truly discover! I will repeat the experience soon.

Fairly new place. It's pretty decent. Friendly owner, nice casual vibe. Prices seemed quite competitive especially if you are eating before 5pm on a Monday to Friday. We had a selection including tuna, chorizo croquette, potatoe bravo, meatballs, paella which was all tasty. I would go back to try some other items again. Can't understand the Italian who gave this place one star....and it was his only review.....but suspicious if you ask me.....but that's trip advisor for you. Always need to take with a pinch of salt.

I went again yesterday with my fiancé who is addicted to Huevos rotos con jamón serrano and an our English friend, Richard, who was amazed by the quality of food. We order the dishes that you can see in the picture attached. We didn't left anything on the plate. As always, everything was tasty and fresh made. I recommend to everyone the Calamares, they are fresh and delicious. My favourite are Huevos rotos con jamón and chorizo croquets, but give a try to garlic prawns, cheese and iberico ham plate, and Spanish omelette. You won't get disappointed. Alejandro, the owner, and his lovely family will attend you kindly and with Spanish taste. I will come back again and again.

I find it shocking that this place has any good reviews. I went last week and had the tapas, and it was so terrible, we couldn't eat it! I appreciate that it was cheap, but the crab with mayonaise, ended up being a mushed up crab stick on stale white bread, the seafood paella, resembled that of dried out mussels, and severely overcooked squid, it took a good while to chew, because it had the texture of a rubber band.Definitely the worst place I have eaten for a good long while, and definitely the worst place in Westbourne, it doesn't deserve the location it is in.I am Italian and know decent food, so trust me this wasn't a taste of Spain, more like a taste of ghastly incompetent offering, trying to palm itself of as a taste of Spain!

Being half Spanish I can be pretty hard to please when it comes to Spanish food in the UK but this is excellent. A husband and wife team as is to typical means that the family feel comes through and it's reflected in the food. The variety is excellent and the prices very reasonable - I'd recommend it to anyone.

A really relaxed café style tapas bar. Plenty of authentic tapas, reasonably priced from £2.40 to £4.50. Or have a big Paella for around £9.00. My favourite was the paella and the Albondigas (spanish meatballs). The service is very relaxed (it's spanish!) so not fast food. Thoroughly enjoyed about 6 tapas a beer a wine, two cokes for £26 Saturday Lunch. Good value.

This is the third Spanish restaurant in which I've had a meal in Bournemouth and I can say that is by far the best. Gambas al ajillo were great, with the spicy touch that they should have and I think the price £6.50 is very reasonable. Mixed croquetes were very nice specially the ham ones. What I like the most were Huevos rotos con jamón serrano were so tasty that I felt sorry for finished them. We had a glass of wine, coffees and desserts and the bill was just £35! But the best was the environment, the restaurant is well furnished and the service was really good. The made me feel like if I were in Spain.I'm wishing come back soon!

Sorry to dampen the enthusiasm of other reviewers. I felt the guy in charge was welcoming, generally excellent and wants to do well. I wish him well. However, we were disappointed by the quality of the food here. It wasn't unpleasant, but lacked taste. The calamari was soggy and I suspect microwaved. The chorizo fritters needed more chorizo. Really everything needed to be a bit more bold - it's hard to recreate Spain in a not so sunny Westbourne, so bold flavours are a must. Please also don't serve a glass of wine made up half from the dregs of a bottle opened yesterday. Throw it away and use the new bottle. Your customers can tell. On the plus side, prices are low and could increase a little in my view to fund improvement. Please persist - I think you can succeed, but have the courage to be better.

Bit of bizarre experience. Attended at 8:30pm on holiday weekend to check if there was a table available. Female waitress asked if we booked and as we hadn't she stated they had no room and a full sitting was due despite the fact there was dozens of tables free. This was strange as they had entertainment and I couldn't believe 70 people were about to attend. We got a take away elsewhere and looked back later in to find none of the tables had been taken as the waitress had stated. It was abundantly clear she lied about the next 9pm sitting. She looked shocked when we popped our head in again as we all knew it was not true. It's their restaurant and up to them when to accept customers but I feel this was not a manager just a lazy waitress getting rid of customers so she can have an earlier home time. Next day we attended at midday and pretty empty and got a table and had lovely cocktails and food. Would highly recommend this restaurant (as long as you are not greeted by the lazy and inexperienced hostess who doesn't care about customers or if the owners make money) The following day we tried to get a delivery stated on website they provide but not only do they not deliver they turned down us collecting food as well. Great place and great food but if I was the owner I would be horrified a couple of staff turn down trade so easily.

The service here was amazing and so friendly!! The atmosphere too is great, you really do feel like you’re walking down the alley into some kind of Mediterranean building. The raegatton music also was great atmosphere. The food is definitely tapas and slightly pinchos. They have really good deals for food too and reasonable prices. For not being in Spain, it was quite reasonable! :)

My son recommended that we came here as he had been several times in the past, and I can see why! Lovely spacious restaurant with great decor and a varied and interesting menu. We all went for the Tapas and were blown away by it. Too many to mention, and all were so good. We will be back. The staff were very efficient and friendly and took the time the talk to my young granddaughter, making her an honorary waitress for the meal. Thanks to everyone, an enjoyable evening.
