SLN is my favourite restaurant in Leeds, and I usually dine there for lunch with customers. This time, it was dinner on a Saturday night with my wife, and the experience was outstanding. Service, as ever, was wonderful, the atmosphere buzzed, and my wife adored her herb crusted cod dish with clam and curried veloute. My breast of duck with parsnip rosti was perfect with a fab (and well priced) bottle of Pinot noir. If you are reading this review, spread the word and book a table now - you are helping to preserve Leeds’s finest culinary establishment. Cheers! James Michelsberg

Was excited to try this restaurant having visited it many years ago and having seen the reviews. Maybe we have high standards but came away disappointed. The little pats of butter on the tables were waiting for some warm fresh bread - the bread arrived and was not warm. We did order the ‘nibbles’ of olives and bread and that bread was warm and tasty. Starters - Moules Mariniere couldn’t be faulted, Tempura Prawns were nice but the chilli jam didn’t taste of much, home made soup was nice but nothing special (have had better), French onion soup was hot to the extreme but was ok (personally we prefer a bigger crouton and more cheese). Main courses - 3 of us opted for the duo of pork dishes - the pork wrapped in ham and filo pastry (looked like a big sausage roll haha) was very salty, the sauce was average, chips and mashed potato average. Ribeye steak was very disappointing - daughter had this and said it was tasteless, swimming in peppercorn sauce. We declined on desserts. Disappointing that there were no 0% alcohol fizzes (Prosecco) - not everyone can drink alcohol (even if we would like to). Overall the decision was we wouldn’t return - had high hopes but it didn’t meet our expectations unfortunately

the most enjoyable lunch in years, I had the fish soup followed by Calves liver all washed down with a glass of champagne each, a bottle of Viognier to share, a glass of Pinot noir, and a port with a cheese board, the waiters were impeccable, friendly and efficient, not cheap but definitely value for money, whenever i am in Leeds I will go nowhere else.

We met here with friends for a reunion lunch. The service was excellent and the food was extremely tasty and well-prepared. Three of us had the scallop starter from the specials menu, and they were perfectly cooked. The same goes for the calves liver, which was meltingly good, and the rump of lamb. For dessert three of us had the cherry frangipane tart, which was delicious, while the fourth had the sticky toffee pudding which came in a wonderful pool of toffee sauce. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. All in all, a great meal in a vibrant environment.

We made the mistake of booking a table for four at The Olive Tree. We sat there for twenty minutes waiting for the water we'd ordered, and ignored by the passing wait staff and manager numerous times. Eventually we decided to walk out, completely unnoticed and luckily grab a table at Souz Le Nez. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, sat at our table within two minutes, and soon eating our delicious starters. The mains were wonderful, and we shared a few side dishes, nobody was sharing their mains! The old-fashioned service from the efficient staff was also a rare treat. We spent a reasonable amount more here compared to the Olive Tree, but it was definitely worth it, I'm looking forward to returning soon, and avoiding the numerous soleless chain restaurants Leeds is full of.

What can I say, 100% fantastic! Last minute decision to eat out, and found this gem. Managed to seat us straight away, although very busy the service was top notch, very fast and on point, cleared plates etc within minutes but not rushed at all, and next course brought out without any long wait, perfect timing in my opinion, a wonderful evening, and as we know, I only give 5 STARS when I don't have to ask for a 'service charge' to be removed, there isn't one, so I get to decide if/ how much I would like to tip. KEEP IT UP FOR MY NEXT VISIT. And please thank all your staff, they were as amazing as the food!! Unfortunately I'm no David Bailey 😕

Can’t believe we have never tried this restaurant before, lived in Leeds all my life and missed this little gem, on first glance you might think it a little expensive but there are some great deals to be had, we chose from the menu du soir and at £40 with a half bottle of wine each you’d be hard pressed to get a3 courses and drink in a decent pub, but this is a classy restaurant. The staff are very attentive and the food amazing, stated, main and dessert were very very good, we have found our new favourite restaurant

Trying not to be biased because I love french food. It was delicious. Starters were Pigeon for the missus, Pig cheeks for me. No complaints. Very French, from the size, playing and taste. I even got the pork do for main. The belly pork was perfect. The pork fillet is not as good but still awesome. Wifey got the venison. She's sucker for beetroot or haggis. She loves it too. We mostly don't get desserts because they tend to ruin the vibe but we took our chance. I got the white chocolate mousse. It was good. Not too sweet. Gin tart with tonic sorbet. Pastry had gone soft unfortunately, and it wasn't very ginny in flavour but overall she still enjoyed it. We will be back for sure.

The atmosphere is lovely and the food devine, we have never had a bad meal their. Everything is done to the highest possible standard. Go on, book in there and treat your taste buds. Update 14 April 2022. The price of the menu du soir has increased slightly to £34 during the week but this still represents fabulous value. The good is always consistently wonderful, portion sizes are spot on. Still our favourite restaurant and cannot recommend it highly enough. Main for me was halibut with clams and seafood chowder , every mouthful superb. The misses went for her favourite, Moules Mariniere and thought it delightful. We had to have desserts. Nice restaurant in the dungeon below Quebec Hotel where we have stayed before. Found it by accident whilst googling places to eat when visiting family in Leeds. Decent wine menu and varied food selection. Quite noisy even though not super busy… but staff were friendly. My Pugs Cheeks were tender and tasty and live a bit of gnocchi in any dish. Partner’s black pudding was good but overwhelmed by the sauce which was IMO too sweet. My duck main was the best I’ve had in a long time - big fan: rare, tender, tasty. My partner had the sole was a bit fiddly. He opted for the sunflower tart with chanttily crème … ok but thought too sweet. Nice wine with the meal- our first choice was I availble so opted for the Bourgogne Les Setilles … really good pairing with the meal (partner chose it as I have no idea…) I would def come back again

I visited without booking as a solo diner on what turned out to be a surprisingly busy evening. I sat opposite the bar whilst several bigger groups came in and tended to mill around in front of my table. Unfortunately this meant that service for me was quite poor, either not being able to get to me, busy with the other groups or just being neglected which was a shame. One of the team members suggested they were short staffed mixed with being busy. The food was average, despite sounding good on paper. The onion soup was tasty, unfortunately the fondant potato was only just past being raw. Due to it being busy, no table check was done so I only got to mention it after the table was cleared. The staff member apologized and said they'd advise the kitchen, but no attempts were made to make up for the issue. I'm sure it is normally very good, just not on my visit.

This place is fancy-pants but it backs it up with superb food and truly excellent service. Don't be put off by the prices, treat yourself, or, even better, wait until it is someone else's turn to pay.

We came for our wedding anniversary after 3 or 4 other visits all of which have been fabulous. We can not fault anything, keep up the good work

A revisit - had not been there for over 30 years. Really enjoyed it (& the house white was surprisingly good).

Food average so not good value, I had vegetarian option which arrived with meat sausages so the other two meals were taken back to stay warm while mine was redone consequently very dry. Sweets were better not very exciting but we’re just OK . The restaurant is comfortable staff were rushing but may have been short staffed, our waitress persisted on addressing us as love, darling, sweetheart , irritating. Will leave it sometime before going back.

La Crepe BoutiqueFrench

I visited here whilst shopping with my daughter in White Rose. We both ordered a crepe with Nutella and fresh strawberries, all crepes are freshly made in front of the customer and all the fruit for fillings looked very fresh too....ours were rolled into a cone shape and filled to the top with strawberries, possibly one of the best desserts I have had for a while, so simple but done so well. Be warned the portions are huge....that's not a bad thing!
