Sopranos Wine Barr & Bistro in Aberdeen City

As mentioned above, Sopranos bar didn't stock vodka or cider. Pretty basic requirements for any bar. Having said that, the Chablis that my friend and I had was excellent. Pretty simple remedies to stop this bar become a laughing stock/ place to avoid.

It looks horrible part of hostel did not dare to drink or eat there we saw the rest of place we actually had booked in.

We had a great night here for the Feria de Abril night! Great pizza too! Jonathan and his bar staff made everyone feel very welcome and provided great service!

Visited here again this time with my wife before going to the Tivoli to grab a quick bite to eat service was good and food arrived very promptly, my wife even though not a big pizza fan really enjoyed her pizza. Definitely a place to enjoy a nice sit down with friends and catch up as they also have a very good range of beers, gin and cocktails.

It has been a lovely Birthday. Staff is friendly and helpful. Ambience informal and comfortable, it is like to be a home!

I am not vegan, however I like to eat vegan food from time to time. I wanted to try vegan pizza here and I was absolutely impressed! Crust was medium to thin, very crispy. Fresh ingredients on the pizza. And with no doubt I can say that was the best melted vegan cheese I’ve ever had in my life. Delicious! They have a great choice of wines, craft beers, ciders so we decided to stay a little bit longer for few rounds of drinks. On weekends they have a deal - half price cocktails and we tried french and espresso martini, that was amazing as well. Highly recommended place for a drink and snack!

Thought this was excellent. My partner had a pizza without cheese which she said was delicious. I had something called Sun, Sea and Parasols. It was delicious too. Excellent value will go back next time I go to the Tivoli Theatre.

My 2nd visit here, the atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly, great offers - pint and a pizza for £9! Fantastically made and tasty cocktails at realistic prices. Bar staff are really friendly and welcoming. My only criticism would be that the toilets need refurbished. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend

Went here for a quick bite to eat with some friends and found they had a deal on for a pizza and a pint for less than a tenner. They had a good choice of pizza and even the beer offered with the deal was good quality options. Pizza arrived and we were all very happy with the quality of pizza and amount of toppings. Have used this place on and off for years and never had a bad meal or service.

Very nice and serviceminded staff. Well organized hostel with fresh and cleaned toilets and rooms. Nice bistro.

Hotel well situated for nearby activities and bus garage. Was not impressed with having to traipse through bar area to get to rooms. Very disappointed in room, was grubby and dated, bed very uncomfortable, bedding unacceptable, and bathroom/shower was awful. On the up side, Staff were helpful and food was nice although tables extremely wobbly. Would not use again.

Went on a Saturday at 5 o clock we booked as there was 10 of us the guy in charge was very helpful the drinks were quickly supplied we also pre ordered which was a good thing as it got busy soon after we arrived we stayed till 7.45 and the service and the food was very good ,we went to the Tivoli next door and was told we could get a table after the show was finished this did not happen and the service was slow but what we went there for was the pre show meal and drinks was good.

booked a table in advance for valentine's day and specified in the email that we would be taking a voucher. when we paid the waitress told us we could not use the voucher since we did not tell them which we did so showed her the email but did not stop her showing very unprofessional, aggressive behaviour and turned out to be the manager! we were told "i don't have to serve you anymore", very poor service, would not go ever again.

Booked here for our valentines night out & was told it would only be a valentine menu which would be available but on arriving we were given the full menu (which was a better selection). Overall food was good but service very slow & unorganised

Purchased an Itison deal, which included 2 courses per person. Had a bit of a strange conversation with the waitress who asked my to cancel my deal and pay direct to them. I think it was a break down in communication about how I had booked the table, although I'll be Honest I'm still not sure what it was all about? Nevertheless I didn't cancel anything. Food was good, tasty and came quick. 4 circles is for the service, both servers were really friendly and nice. Would consider going back if there was another deal, but perhaps not otherwise. Mainly an enjoyable experience.

Bought a Groupon voucher for Italian meals for four! Excellent value, nice atmosphere and friendly helpful service. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed all courses and a good deal on weekend cocktails too.

Lovely hotel ,rooms were great for price was bit surprised and food downstairs was superb I found this to be a little hidden gem well recommended I will definitely be staying again

We stayed here on a Saturday night having booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal. What a lovely surprise! The bar is buzzing with a fantastic wine list (but be sure to check it as the rioja is VERY overpriced) but it was very good. The room we had was not huge but perfectly comfortable and clean. Yes they had a portable heater but it was fine for us. The hall and stair areas are decorated in a fantastic quirky style which I loved with nice squishy sofas if you needed a seat, There is no lift so a bit of a hike to the second floor but was no problem for us. Dinner at night was delicious though the 'deal' menu doesn't offer much choice you can choose from the main menu and pay a supplement of £3 or £5. I had the mussels and loved them. The breakfast was nicely cooked and served at your table piping hot. The staff were very nice and we had a good banter with the barman John. The young lady doing the karioke in the evening is very sweet and did a good job trying to get people up to sing. All in all we had a great time and would recommend.

Excellent food, however once we had queiried the 'supplement' on the bill, the owner got nasty. Left a bad taste in our mouth and will not be back.

Lovely food and atmosphere. Very relaxed. Situated next to train and bus station and jury's inn. We were there on a Saturday evening, we were heading somewhere else but if we weren't we could have stayed and drank and listened to some live music. Seemed to be popular for this as people turning up for that.

Lovely staff, great value cocktails and quirky, comfy and very relaxing environment. I don't eat or stay here this time - would definitely consider both next time though. Thanks - fun place.

We had been in for a drink a few weeks back liked quirky look of place which is deceiving as not much to look at outside. So purchased an itison voucher and was very impressed with food and service from young waitress. Great choice, promptly served. Only criticism was a bit quiet which affected ambience but it was a Wednesday might be busier at weekend. Makes a change from Union Square.

Booked with Groupon voucher which had a good variety of starters & mains included with the deal. Easy to use your Groupon voucher when booking and staff were very helpful if you erm forget to email the darn thing... Lovely vibe to the place on Friday evening which was all helped along by swift and pleasant staff. Don't forget to check the blackboards for the cocktail specials :o)

Used the bar a few times during our stay also had breakfasts each day too. Good Drinks and Breakfast Choices and the Lunch and Dinner menu seemed to have a good choice

Having read so many positive reviews about this establishment, we thought it would be an ideal venue for a family catch up. We enjoyed our food and ambience. Unfortunately the whole tone of the evening deteriorated when we came to settle the bill. We advised our server, before asking for the bill, that we had Spree vouchers. She told us that they would not accept them. We asked to speak to the manager, but we were informed that he was busy. She then went away and spoke to another man. One of our party joined them to ask why they were refusing to accept our voucher. It turned out that he was the owner. He then turned on her and became very angry. We were totally shocked at the appallingly abusive and aggressive manner in which he spoke to her. His behaviour was inexcusable and totally unacceptable.

We chose to dine at Sopranos on Friday night (16th Sep'16) for a family catch up as the majority of online reviews were very positive and they didn't have weekend restrictions on their spree vouchers. For anyone who doesn't know how the spree book works, some restaurants will say not valid on 'Friday or Saturday evening' or 'must call, quoting spree to book'. Sopranos voucher says 'valid any evening, opening hours Mon-Sat 6-9pm)'.There was only one waitress working so the manager was having to help out as they were too busy and others had turned up early (their words). Although we certainly didn't receive service with a smile the food came in good time and was delicious! We also ordered desserts and shared a few bottles of wine, so we were there for a couple of hours and spent a reasonable amount of money. When requesting the bill the waitress said we couldn't use our spree vouchers as we hadn't told them when booking. We asked to speak to the manager and were told he was busy. She then went to speak to the owner and on her return said "he point blank will not accept the vouchers as it states in the spree book you must tell us when you book". It does not say this anywhere! The T&Cs state 'please present your spree voucher prior to requesting the bill'. The owner refused to come and speak to us in person, leaving the poor waitress to deal with our complaint. I saw her speaking to a gentleman so went over to see if we could get the issue resolved and was confronted with a barrage of abuse, including being told I was cheap and a silly little lady and all in a very aggressive manner. After nearly an hour they accepted the vouchers (albeit reluctantly) but with no apology and it completely ruined a lovely evening.

I have often eaten at sopranos and preferred here to the chain restaurants in Union Square. However, I was very disappointed following my last visit on Friday 9th September.We had booked online and were seated quickly on arrival. After ordering, we noticed there was a pre-theatre menu which we had not been told about or seen. As we were attending the theatre, we asked why we had not been shown this and were told it was too late to change to our order.The service was very slow and not very friendly. There was no cocktail list as stated on the wine list and I got the distinct impression we were an inconvenience whenever we asked for anything (such as parmesan on my pasta or drinks!).The food itself was lovely and the cocktails very reasonably priced.After our food, we had a very long wait to order and receive our pudding which is not great when we had a show to catch! When it came to the bill, the waitress wouldn't accept our spree voucher as we booked online (never had an issue before). Even trying to pay was slow and we had rush to HMT to get there in time!Overall, we were made to feel unwelcome and an inconvenience from the start. The service was very slow, unfriendly and unhelpful. It is a shame as the food itself was good but service was a huge let down.

Was here on a friday night,we booked at very short notice but managed to get a table(which was right at the front beside the window)I had mussels and my partner had posh fish&chips-the chips were very chunky.Anyway,after our very nice meal and first class service we had a post meal coffee and people watched at the window seats.Well reccomended and will be back

Visited for drinks on Sat late afternoon/eve.Good quality cocktails at half price.Friendly and attentive service and good music too.Toilets are a bit shabby and looked like they needed a good clean though!

We visited here on Saturday night 13th August. On arrival the place was really busy which was a good sign but a lot of people standing around and we soon realised they were waiting to be seated. My sister and her partner had arrived before us and waited 20 minutes on a drink from the bar. The woman said out table would be 10 mins so we ordered a drink.. I ordered a vodka and Diet Coke and on tasting it realised the Diet Coke was off.. Like the syrup needed replaced in the draft machine.. I said this to the bar maid and she didn't seem to understand what I meant so gave me another one exactly the same which I sent back again... She talked to another woman who seemed to be higher than her position (possibly a manageress I'm not sure ). She then gave me a vodka with a can of Diet Coke which was much better. When we were shown to our table by the same woman she seemed very uninterested and it was ages before we had our order taken... When we questioned things like the kind of soup of the day and catch of the day she seemed to be annoyed that we were even asking, whereas this is usually something you are told without having to ask in a restaurant. The place was very busy but very short staffed and I could see the strain this was having on the small team but every time we asked for a drink or whatever they seemed to be inconvenienced and the woman rolling her eyes! We asked for a jug of water for the table and received a jug of warm tap water so when I asked the woman if we could have some ice in it please as it was warm she replied oh is it ? Right I'll get you ice then no apology. On a plus side when our food arrived it was lovely but unsure if the hour wait for it was worth it. Hotel staff were excellent and very helpful.Food was freshly cooked and plentiful.The eating area was a little small but other than that very enjoyable.

Fantastic food and lovely wine. Highly recommend here for dinner. Good quality, fresh produce and not overly pretentious - best place for food in this area!A relaxed welcoming atmosphere, and good location - we will be back!

Saw advert for half price cocktails £3.99 and good selection to choose from staff were happy to tell you what was all in cocktails my partner and I decided to try as its our first time of visiting sopranos, very friendly service lovely bar area and restaurant we decided to have food while we were there we ordered off of bar menu fish chicken bites to share with chunky chips and 2 dips £9.95 excellent value very tasty food too lovely evening great cocktails food , definitely recommend definitely return .

First, the food was good and well priced. The location is terrific for travelers, 2 minutes from the train and bus stations. Near the harbor, comfortable, clean, friendly, reasonable prices. The restaurant is linked to the hotel at the same address, which offers both standard and hostel accommodation.More: the owner runs a variety of programs to connect travelers to each other and locals: language exchange events, films, Karaoke. The staff is very helpful with ideas about local sights. There is a commitment to a new idea about human-connected travel here, and it is exciting.

We were given a really quiet little curtained off booth, which made it feel like we were the only ones in there.The waiter was lovely and friendly.Although the restaurant was quite busy there wasn't a long wait for either course of food.I had asked for a certain item to be removed from a cocktail (citrus) and when the waiter came with my starter, before he put it down, he asked if I was allergic to citrus as there was some in the mayo side. I thought this was very considerate of him to check and not the 'norm' for most places in Aberdeen!

Staying on business so very convenient for city centre . Had a vegetarian pizza that was absolutely delicious on my first night stay then fish and chips the second night. The food was freshly made so be patient but well worth the wait.The staff were also pleasant and helpful so enjoy.

went there for a pre theatre drink. I have not been in this area for many years so thought we would give it a try. I am disabled and require assistance getting into places I should have not worried as the staff could not help me enough. food is available and the menu choice seemed extensive. many were having food but people were happily drinking cocktails. the location was near the bus and train stations. handy, and certainly a lot cheaper than eating in the shopping mall near by. the décor was a bit tired and needed freshening up and the music was a bit loud, probably an age thing.. however it would not deter us from visiting again to try out the food

My husband and I visited as we had a groupon voucher for a starter and main each - it was my second visit and his first. The voucher entitled us to a starter each and a main from the pizza and pasta section although if we wanted anything else there was a small charge.I had the olives, bread and oil & vinegar to start while he had the fishcakes - the fishcakes were 2 tiny round things and I wondered if this is the normal size or if it just was because we had the voucher. It didn't matter though as he really enjoyed them. For the main we both had a pizza - I was going to have the chicken skewers but changed my mind when I saw there was a pizza with goats cheese on - I had noticed somone at another table eating their pizza and from that glance over the room I regretted ordering it as it looked a wee bit burnt - how wrong I was!! The pizza was amazing - so much goats cheese piled on their, incredibley flavoursome and I think it tasted like it was from a pizza stone oven! I'd return again and again for that pizza alone.Service was really friendly - the only hiccup was that the waiter forgot my husbands second drink but that wasn't a huge deal.

I visited Sopranos on Friday night with my family. We were welcomed by really friendly staff. The food and cocktails were excellent. Great value and price!We will definitely come back again.

We had a family meal here on Friday, and although the staff were mostly efficient and friendly we were very disappointed by their reaction to a complaint . My husband left most of his, a steak burger covered in greasy cheese, and my son, who's birthday it was, had to leave most of his steak which was mostly fat.We rarely complain in restaurants, but because of the amount of steak he was leaving, we felt we had to say something. The waiter spoke to the chef, and we were told that was the type of steak it was ????? He refused to remove the charge for steak, but as a "token" of goodwill took a few £ off for a starter?!I would have insisted, but my husband did not want to spoil the evening, but needless to say, we will not be going back, and I would strongly recommend that if you do go, no steak!

Good Fresh local supply Fish, Ribeye steak absolutely melts in mouth also local supply. We also got recommendation for wine with our food. Had a great time thank you. And also we would recommend you to our friends.

Its was Friday dinner time we visited this place for the first time. Started with a warm welcome by the Manager (Guessing). Gave us a nice romantic table in the corner, like a booth. We choose the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Starters- I had fish cakes and my partner had soup, both of our starters were great. Followed by I had their signature pasta dish 'Penne Sopranos' and my partner had Posh Fish. They were amazing and just couldn't fault it. Staff Member were really nice and friendly. Excellent Service overall. Definitely coming back soon.

We used an ITISON voucher for a 2 course dinner.The choice was very good.The food was excellent,in particular the pasta with garlic sauce and chorizo.Service was impeccable.a The atmosphere was cosy and unobtrusive.

I ordered the penne soprano which was fine, tasty enough but a rather small portion and given the price I would have expected more meat in the pasta - began to feel more like a meal I would cook at home. I had a feeling it would be a small portion so I ordered a side of hand cut chips. They were not chips, but wedges, which was fine by me but to charge £3 and give someone SEVEN wedges - seriously?? Not impressed.

Good reception and friendly Maitre D but the rest was pretty average. 8oz burger was murdered and the Penne Soprano was bland. School report - 'Could do better'

I'm not one to complain about a local restaurant ever, but the service we received in Sopranos last night was not great. The girl clearly did not want to be there, if we asked any questions for different types of sauce, what things were etc, she would roll her eyes and screw up her face every time. Completely rude and not what you would expect when your paying for a meal. I had to actually say "he was only asking" at one point. Most of the food was lovely, the pizza and grilled chicken skewers were very tasty. The burgers were described deliciously in the menu but were rather disappointing - dry and hardly any (dried up) melted cheese. The side of chips came for £3.00 and you get 6 chips which also was quite disappointing as normally I would share a side of chips with my partner.Besides that, the man who I presume was the manager was very nice/polite but probably needs to have a word with his staff!

We visited this restaurant first time although we have read reviews it's a hit or miss but we definitely had a great time. Food was really tasty specially my Posh Fish and chips. Also my partner had the Sopranos Pasta (can't remember the name exactly) she enjoyed it throughly. All staff member was friendly. Some nice house music in background although it was bit louder later on after probably 9.30pm onwards which we can understand because of late night drinkers, so we stayed on and had few cocktails, which I would say probably the best price anyone can get on Friday and Saturday only £3.99. We would definitely see you soon.

Visited here on a Saturday evening and had been a few times last year so was really looking forward to it. However, I was left really disappointed as the standard of food and atmosphere has deteriorated. I found the manager quite rude, made a few sarcastic comments as he 'welcomed' us into the restaurant. He clearly has an issue with people having an itison voucher but quite frankly, I would have been furious had we paid full price. We had mussels with a chilli and tomato sauce and a tricoloure for starter. The mussels was shocking. They were over cooked and tough and served with what looked to be the arrabiata pasta sauce which was also on the menu. Never had a thick pasta sauce with mussels? The tricoloure was ok, just three slices of mozzarella, two slices of tomato and rocket. For main we had a pizza which was fine enough and a burger. The 'burger' was in fact two round meatballs in a bun with bacon. Bit confused as to why it was not one round circular burger as you would expect. It was pretty bland, tough and very dry.The staff had face paint on and Hawaiian flowers round their neck with shower puffs hanging from the bar. Not sure what the reason for this was, didn't seem to be a themed night? Just thought it was a bit odd. What did bother me was the music they had blasting out, I could barely hear what my partner was saying... Not exactly the atmosphere you want for a saturday night dinner. It felt like I was in a cheesy bar in benidorm as it was belting out 80s music. I'm not one to complain unless I feel it is warranted but I was here previously for a graduation dinner and the food and service was great. Not sure if it's under new management but it's a real shame, I won't be going back.

A very pleasant evening in pleasant surroundings. Excellent service & delicious food. A quiet evening but it was Tuesday nevertheless we felt comfortable & we've made to feel welcome. Close to the stations so had we chosen to make night it we could have OT home easily. However we drove & parking was no problem- so close to Union Square.

We came in here for a drink before going to the station. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks, ended up having some 'snack food' which was well presented and the coffee was delicious (much better than the costa I grabbed on the way home!)

I've been coming to Sopranos for many years now and it never fails to please! Whether you are popping in for a quick coffee and a chat, a nice glass or wine, or for a meal, you are always made very welcome by all the staff.

I visited sopranos on Saturday night with my partner, When we arrived the man who appeared to be in charge gave us a very warm welcome although when we were seated and our order was taken the waitress was quite abrupt which made us feel unwelcome. Not long after the starters arrived, I had chicken skewers and my partner had fishcakes, we were delighted with these, though we then had to then wait for 10 minutes for our starters go be cleared by the same waitress as she appeared to spend a lot of time chatting to another worker while customers were waiting. The main courses were very nice, big portion and very tasty. We hope to return for a meal and hopefully to provide a 5 star rating on our next visit.

Came here to try somewhere new for my Dads birthday meal. I had the burger, and have to say it was the best I have had in a long long time, beautifully cooked. Lovely atmosphere too. Will definitely be back... many times! Thank you.

Welcome great, we had a Groupon voucher which was not a problem and were also told we could choose different options from the menu for a supplement. Food was delicious and the service was brilliant, the guy who was in charge of everything was a delight, lots of chat and banter. We had starters of goats cheese Bon bins & tricolour salad, then we ordered steak and pizza, very good and to finish off we had a cheese board. Very relaxing atmosphere and made to feel very welcome, will definitely be back.

I attended as part of a group of 16 for a Christmas meal. We ordered in advance and the food and service did not disappoint. The staff had a seating area for us to wait in and order drinks. When everyone arrived we were taken to our table. Each course arrived quickly and our table was cleared quickly. The potatoes and veg were in bowls on the table and it felt like there wasn't quite enough for everyone as it was almost one bowl between four.The salmon starter and gateau were delicious. Myself and one other had dietary requirements for our main meal that were well catered for also.I'm pretty sure we will be back!

Took my partner here for a meal and whilst we didn't expect perfection with a Groupon voucher, we were both disappointed. The waitress didn't seem interested and when we asked for a drinks menu, all she would do was quote some 2 for 1 cocktails (expensive at £7.25 and not that great). I was expecting something special with my "Tricolore" starter...a plate of sliced tomato and cheese with a sprinkle of basil did nothing visually - surely "tomatoes" could have been some differently coloured cherry tomatoes? My partner's pizza was VERY crisp in parts and my pasta dish was missing the garlic bread it was supposed to be served with...not that I could be bothered attracting the attention of the "waitress". We got a "2 for 1" pizza voucher if we returned in January, but I'm afraid that went in the bin and we wouldn't venture back in a hurry.

Had a voucher for a half price 3 course meal, if there's an offer like that I'd presume u'd get the same food but for half the price? Wrong! U get less, some offer!! They clearly don't like you using a voucher so I don't know why they do it. We didn't even get offered a drinks menu, when I asked what drinks/wine they had I quickly got told a few that were on it, shocking customer service! In fact the service was that slow/bad that we left before ordering dessert so the voucher we had for a 3 course meal really was a waste of money! Much better places to eat in Aberdeen.

I visited in a group of 14 as a joint birthday lunch with my friend - I'd never visited before but have always heard good things - I wouldn't disagree as we had a great time with really good food.Because we were such a large group, i was sent an order form to pre - order our food, which I completely understood as we were such a large group. I can honestly say that all of the food was really good - I had a 4 oz steak burger with chorizo & cheese - i was a wee bit surprised at how small the burger was but it was really tasty. A couple of my friends found that their pizza's were burned but still edible. There is a Saturday special on the menu, which is what most of our party ordered- you can choose a main from the light bite menu, any desert and then you get a small bottle of Prosecco or cocktail. When we had received our food, I asked our waiter if we could get our Prosecco as was part of the deal - however he said he'd never heard of this so I had to point out to him on his own menu. I thought this was a bit strange as waiters in restaurants should really know what's on the menu. However, it was all remedied and we received our Prosecco's. Overall, the food was really good, as was the service from the two waiters and the atmosphere was great. I especially loved the 2-for-1 cocktails so will definitely be back!

After a big lunch and some shopping with family. We came across this place while heading back to hotel.We decided to pop in for a couple of cocktails and found the staff friendly and loved our drinks.

I went to Sopranos in a group of 14 or so people for a birthday lunch. The staff were clearly a little overwhelmed with the size of our party despite booking well in advance. That is however no fault of the staff and I thought both men that were waiting on us did a super job. There was a few hick ups but the staff did everything they could to keep us happy. I was very happy with my spicy bean burger however a few of my friends were less impressed with their food but I can only talk for myself. I thought the pricing was very reasonable. I look forward to going again and 2 for 1 cocktails on a Friday and Saturday will draw me back fairly soon!

Ellers hadde ventetiden blitt for lang, nesten en og en halv time og når vi etterlyser maten,får vi beskjed om at det tar lang tid å steke biff, og vi ikke har bestilt forrett. Når maten omsider kommer har de dårlig oversikt over hvem som har bestilt hva, og min biff, som ble bestilt medium var totalt gjennomstekt. Men selv om servicen ikke var på topp, kunne du fortsatt kjenne igjen de gode smakene i maten.

Stayed at the Sopranos while visiting our son. Room small, however suited our needs. We had breakfast which was very good, plenty of choice.Also had cocktails the night before in the bar, which was very pleasant

booked a table for dinner 10 days in advance by email as we were visiting Aberdeen for my husbands birthday. Confirmed booked again on morning of booking and received confirmation by email, however on arrival our booking wasn't in the diary, this was a. Groupon deal. They did eventually find our booking but didn't have a table for us so asked us to take a seat on sofa while they tried sorting it out. Place was very busy and staff all seemed to be running about like headless chickens, no organisation at all. We ordered a drink while we waited and were given menus so we could order while they tried to get us a table. Finally after one hour after original booking time we were shown to our table, staff advised us that drink we ordered was on house due to wait, fair enough! Get to table still waiting had to ask what was happening with starters, they finally arrived which was fine, then another 30 minutes pass no main course ask what's happening to be told husbands burgers still cooking because it's a real burger it takes time apparently! Main courses arrive absolutely tasteless husbands burger well done on outside pure raw inside, my pasta dish - vile. Obviously this was a deal we had purchased before hand otherwise we would have walked out a dam sight sooner, we took a couple of bites of our dinner and left. Less than impressed. Also sack the DJ the music was rubbish and extremely loud while people are trying to eat, not good!

I always enjoy the Sopranos , its a comfortable very friendly small hotel , conveniently situated for the local ameneties ; train , bus stations and shops etc . Nice meal consumed in the restaurant also .Shall return in the future .

Sopranos has been my favourite place to go for few years now and never disappointed me... Recently visited the place with few of my friends and as always both the service and food was fab!There is a wide variety of different dishes so everyone will find something interesting. Wine list and cocktails list is impressive and prices won't knock you down.Would recommend this place to all, Souvik - the manager - always makes sure customers are happy.

This was our second visit, first time couldn't fault it, raved about it to everyone! This time, not so good. Heard from others that it was a bit hit or miss, definitely a miss this time.Starter of goats cheese bon bons, very dry like they had been lying under a hot plate forever & the side salad that came with it was a really sad yellow colour, nothing fresh about it at all. Mains were fish, bit greasy, nothing to write home about. Will we go back..........

Called in for late lunch, ordered soup and sandwich, had to wait ages, then server came to say there was no ham, would we like chicken and cheese instead. Doesn't really go, does it! One of us settled for chicken mayo on white bread, other cheese & tomato on brown. Soup was ok! It was very obviously supermarket own brand white bread, no butter/marg, no mayo! Brown bread was a bit better, cheese appeared to be the ready grated, bought in bag type! Extremely inferior lunch, would never go back!

We went with an Itison voucher, which seemed like good value for money and a good excuse to try somewhere new. . .. . We didn't get our drinks until half way through our starter- I had goats cheese Bon bons- only got 2, other people being served had 3!? Maybe because we had a voucher. They were tasteless. My partner had mussels- they hadn't been cleaned so the broth was full of seaweed (still attached to the mussels) and grit! Main course was a let down too, my fish was dry and my partners chicken was worse. I ordered a Bloody Mary at the start of the meal and got it during the main course - there was far too much Tabasco in it! (I like spicy but it was OTT) I explained and asked for another one- never got it. They charged us for it though and of course we didn't pay for it. Some of my cutlery was dirty and the tables needed a good clean. Didn't bother us but guests staying at the hotel had to walk through the restaurant and kept apologising as its a tight squeeze to get through with luggage!There are definitely better places to dine in Aberdeen.

On a trip to Aberdeen we had lunch here, the light bite fish and chips which was very tasty and just the right portion size for lunch so having a nice lunch we booked for an evening meal. Our table was booked for 7.30 so when ordering around 7.45 we were surprised to be told they had no steaks left (all four of us wanted steaks) hey ho onwards and upwards we order a substitute. They did not have enough staff to cope many people just gave up and left, maybe someone did not turn up for work that night but it was cringing to watch the few staff members trying to cope. The food was good, starters and mains arrived pretty swiftly however the sweets were taking an age to arrive and when they did they were given to someone else so we were then told no apple pie left. It really was a bit of a shambles and quite a lot of lost business with people walking out. We did get a reduction on the bill but did leave a good tip as the few members of staff who were there worked their socks off. Would we go back? Yes probably for lunch not sure about evening service.

Went for an evening meal on an Itison discount voucher and we were delighted with the food. Simple menu with 3 options for each course, everything was freshly prepared with great ingredients and just the right amount of food over the 3 courses.Super service on a busy night where I suspect most of the customers were on a similar discount deal. If you want to escape the drudgery of the food on offer in Union Square on a night out just cross the road and have a meal in Sopranos.

In sopranos this evening and not the same normal lovely atmosphere - really brightly lit tonight. Irish coffee tastes like it's missing it's Irish touch x

Group of 5 of us came here for a late afternoon Saturday lunch.Wine was great - lots of choice and the food also lovely. I opted for the Posh fish & chips: catch of the day which was haddock with prawns in batter, coated squid and chips. Very tasty.We stayed here most of the afternoon until the evening guests started arriving for tables. Nice setting to sit and catch up with friends over good food and wine.

Dinner and breakfast all good lots of food very tasty lots to choose from and the staff friendly and helpful! We had 3 courses part of a deal and it was all well cooked and especially the caramel cheesecake!

Great wee restaurant with lovely staff and very good prices. The food needs improvement though but you get what you pay for so its was good for the price.

Great Service, good Food, the 3 course menu was a Perfect value. Nice wine list. A Visit Worth in aberdeen. The host is a nice guy

Good atmosphere, comfy good for a long sit and chat with a few bottles of wine or nice beer with well presented tasty food definitely recommenced it

Went for a meal recently with my daughter. The staff were friendly and the service was good. The table we were sitting at wobbled but the waiter was able to quickly sort it by moving it against the wall! The bar was busy and there was a nice atmosphere. The drinks were well priced. Food was okay but nothing fancy.

Not a unatrative venue, but seated in a dark back room. Decent glass of Chablis. Crab cakes wher fine with a pile of sad rocket, my wife had olives. Main course was catch of the day, a piece of haddock, to make it look better value 3 spicey squid rings and three king prawns, cannot rember the desert.

Popped in here for a quite drink with the other half and have to say very pleasant indeed.Quality wine menu and not overly priced.Nice comfy surroundings and staff.Worth a visit if in Aberdeen

Went for dinner with friends last week and we were all surprise. First visit and was impressed. For somewhere different give it a go. Food reasonably priced.Food portions perfect, service fine. Was surprised how busy it got after 8pm!

We ate as a group of 4; mostly the food was good but 2 of the guests in our party took pasta dishes for their mains which were of poor standard. The pasta was overcooked and broke apart, the penne arrabiata was not at all spicy and the penne libretto had far too many olives (tinned) to be edible. Despite this, the atmosphere and flowing wine meant a good evening was had by all.

Dreadful service last night in Sopranos Bistro...previously one of my fav places to dine. The delicious food was spoilt by the comedic service..our wine glasses were removed three times and had to ask for them back, the order was taken down wrong, our wine order was also forgotten and we were asked twice to move into the busy bar area!! i had just finished my steak the first time they asked us to move. Other diners were left to enjoy their meals so not sure why they didn't like us!! they really spoilt my birthday meal with friends with their obvious rush to get rid of us and lack of interest when we complained. Last £110 I'll be spending there!!!

My partner and I had life bite fish and chips which consisted of a tiny bit of fish and 4 chips, 2 cups of tea for seventeen pounds and forty pence. The fish was not even fresh it had been frozen. I went to the loo and you couldn't even lock the door. Avoid this place like the plague it is a complete rip off.

I have been here for dinner on sever occasions and always found it to be excellent. I've had several things from the menu such as 'posh fish & chips', catch of the day and burgers, each is always very tasty and well presented. I'm also a big fan of the muscles for starter, which are well cooked with tasty sauces, and come as a very generous portion. There are some very nice wines on offer, the staff are friendly and the surroundings are very stylish.

We booked to stay here last minute for Valentine's Day the girl in reception kindly called reception on check in to see if they could accommodate us. The only available menu was Valentines menu which we feel was over priced at £30 per head.To start I had hot smoked salmon with cream cheese, the portion was big my husband had goats cheese bonbons which he said was v tasty. For main course we asked what kind of fish it was which we were told haddock so I declined and had medallions of fillet steak. When the mains arrived I could see the haddock was actually salmon which I was very disappointed about as I love salmon. My husband kindly swapped. So he was left with the beef which he said was not overly tasty and was very thin cut to be served with a heavy sauce. We then had a pallet cleanser which was 2 very large scoops of sorbet. For pudding I had chocolate and berries, for me that has a very sweet tooth I could not eat it all as it was too sickly. My husband had the sticky toffee pudding that was served with cream which he said was very nice.We have eaten here before and have always felt it has been value for money, but maybe not this time.

We have visited Sopranos on several occasions prior to our night out on the 7th Feb. On our previous visits the food has been exquisite and I can honestly say that this time it too was devine! Compliments to the chef! Now for everything else. We arrived at our booking time to be shown to our table for 4. To say we had to squeeze in is an understatement. The table was situated just outside the kitchen door where there is a partition blocking off the kitchen. We had to squeeze ourselves between this and the table itself. This then resulted in a lovely greasy stain on my top. The table had clearly not been cleaned properly prior to setting. The other ladies in the group who were sat opposite could not get into their seats as the chair for the table behind were too close. I understand it's a small dining area but come on. If you can't fit the tables in comfortably then surely you need to cut the number of tables down. When we were shown to the table and due to the limited space we then asked if we could have our coats hung up. Now that story I will finish later... The waitress asked for our drinks order. We ordered cocktails requesting a pitcher of one kind to be told they didn't do it. The board in the bar states they do so we had to point this out. The food came quickly and it was delicious! 2 ladies ordered the rib eye steak which looked lovely, one steak burger and I had posh fish and chips! So so tasty and full of flavour. Then I needed to visit the restroom. Oh my goodness. They are so disgusting! Had I gone prior to eating this would've put me off. The stench alone was stomach churning. So we are now ready to leave, paid our bill and headed through to the bar to collect our coats as that is the direction they had gone. Well we didn't have to look very hard because there they were. Piled in a heap on top of a refrigerated unit!!!! Now I certainly am not a snob but come on I didn't pay £450 for my coat for it to be thrown in a corner. The very least I would've expected was a coat hook!! Sopranos you are letting your chef and yourselves down. Will we return? I certainly don't think so but I say this with a feeling of grave disappointment as the food is as I said before was seriously outstanding.

Taking friends for a new experience in eating can be a bit of a gamble but not so last night at Sopranos with superb fresh produce served in style and with relaxing ambience made it a great night.Many thanks to John for his excellent hosting and enjoyable chat

Was there last month, service was good as was the food seemed to have a nice atmosphere. Was there with a small group and every one seemed to be happy enough

The restaurant side of Soprano's looks nice and cosy but since it's openly attached to the bar area it can get very loud. The starter was small but delicious. I ordered the steak, rare, and unfortunately when it came out it was exceptionally well done. I made the waitress aware of this and she just shrugged her shoulders - no offer of a new, correctly cooked steak or a discount which was disappointing. Unsure who they have working as the chef; steak and chips should be one of the easiest things to cook on the menu. Disappointed to leave the restaurant still hungry.

This is a wonderful little place, small restaurant but that makes it better. Staff are lovely and food is amazing will return!

Vi var 6 stykker som var å spiste på Sopranos 2 dager på rad. Vi kom innom uten å ha bestilt på forhånd og personalet ordnet bord til oss på et øyeblikk. Det var god service og fantastisk mat. Peppersausen jeg fikk kjøttet var en av de beste jeg har smakt selv om den var litt tynn.

Food was ok - steak & chips can't go far wrong.Busy around tea time, then the entertainment started & it was buzzing. Other night were on quiet side.

I had a wonderful experience here. Good friendly service.The menu is limited but stops you having choice anxiety. You can still chose from fish, meat, pasta and veggie.My friend and I both had pasta and then a lovely chocolate dessert each. Good choice of wines as well. A lovely relaxed atmosphere - felt like we were in an old library. Would definitely recommend this place and would love to return on my next visit to Aberdeen.

Good service and good food the fish was good and the starter very good, it was a nice discovery . The atmosfere is great .
