Sophie's in Ceredigion

This was our first stay in Aberystwyth and after reading the trip advisor reviews we had to find this place . It was easy to spot as there was a queue waiting for the cafe to open . From the outside it looks pretty average but looks can be deceiving . It’s clean , the staff are friendly and efficient . Excellent Breakfast, lots of choice on the menu and good value . Will definitely be back. The trip advisor award is well deserved !!

Haven't been in much for the last 18 months for obvious reasons, but had time to call in today for a leisurely brekkie. Veggie Breakfast, coffee and orange juice, all for a tenner. Plenty of space (tables well distanced). Clean and fresh and inviting.Only problem is that they've stopped offering tinned tomatoes as an option with breakfast. For that I'd rate them as -999 stars, but that's not an option, so it'll have to be the usual 5 stars instead! But I really wish they'd bring them back. Grilled tomatoes are the food of the devil.

Good food. Friendly service. We had the club sandwich and salmon cream cheese sandwich. Good size. Not stingy on the sandwich fillings. Quick service.

Best food ever. Food looked clean fresh and home made it was such a nice change. Had normal English breakfast and on request the bacon was over cooked just how we like it, most places don't seem to hear this and then we don't eat it. Also the vegetarian breakfast was the best we've had this year. Sausages were the best veggie sausages ever with such a nice taste as they weren't those fake meat ones they were made from leek and potato or something. Utterly perfect. They had alternative milks so we could have oat milk latte. Partner had normal milk latte and said it was creamy and absolutely lovely. Had caramel latte and they didn't over do thr caramel nice change. Loads of vegan and vegetarian options here including vegan smoothies and milkshakes. Menu is so different and interesting you have such a good choice here.

Great place with a wide menu and a deep understanding of the variety of dietary preferences people have. Can be busy but for a very good reason! We always visit when in Aber

Our first ever visit to Aberystwyth was even more memorable due to a lovely lunch in Sophie’s. My Club sandwich was excellent as was my wife’s Salmon and cheese baked potato. Great find!

Unbelievably tasty vegan burger. Best I’ve ever had. Atmosphere so happy and chilled. Highly recommend.

I've been going to Sophie's for about 2 and a half years now, it's definitely the best place in town for breakfast. With a huge variety of top quality food at a good price, you cant go wrong! The staff are really what makes the place so special, they're all so lovely and attentive and are always up for a bit of a natter, sad to see some of them leave!

Been coming here on weekly basis for basically 2 years now, it's unrivalled for breakfast and lunch. Strongly suggest getting the Mike'n'Cheese.

Excellent drinks and food menu, perfect for breakfast and lunch. Staff are always helpful with orders, and have had plenty of changes to food and drink taken care of for dietary needs. Definitely worth a visit on holiday, and perfect for locals looking for frequent place to visit.

Sophie’s is top of my list when it comes to places to eat in Aberystwyth, I can’t help but go back again and again. The staff are lovely, friendly, and are very helpful. The food hits the spot every time. If you live in aber or your just visiting your missing out if you don’t go.

I’ve been to Sophie’s a few times when I’ve visited Aberystwyth and I am never disappointed! The staff are so friendly and really go above and beyond to make sure you’re catered too! They make you feel like a part of the family when you arrive and honestly, amazing customer service aside. The food alone is to die for I’ll always recommend going if you get a chance!

The waitresses here are the slowest on the planet! There’s always a wait of 15-20 mins (even on quieter days) before they take ur order. One of them is so busy flirting and prancing around that she forgets there’s customers waiting.Breakfast is average, nothing fancy! It’s over priced and not worth the time waiting.Shame really as it could be a great little business if these issues were resolved.

I reckon this cafe offers the best breakfasts in Aber. We had monster breakfasts including veggie, waffles & hash browns, lux white chocolate, juice, tea & coffee with oat milk. Absolutely delicious, cannot fault a thing, excellent portions too, we rolled out of there & will definitely return. Staff are excellent, lovely decorated clean cafe & v Covid compliant. Highly recommend!!

Popped in for breakfast, a great range of things to choose from. Excellent food that came quickly and all the staff were lovely. Tables well spaced so didn't feel cramped but a good atmosphere. Would recommend the iced coffee!!

You can't go to Aber and *not* have a breakfast at Sophies.The staff are really friendly and the food is superb.I've been visiting Aber for 5 years and I make sure I go to Sophies at least once per visit. This time I was there for 3 days but managed 2 visits!Awesome cafe and staff.

We come to Aber every year and breakfast here is a must, the pretzel buns are divine and the luxury milkshakes are fantastic, everyone is always so nice there, it’s got a really friendly atmosphere.

Ate here today, as we were recommended by a friend. Amazing food & drinks at a reasonable price. Very wide menu for all appetites, and really delicious. Staff were very friendly & were happy to chat and clear up any questions. Highly recommended!!

Whilst staying in Aberystwyth for work, I thought I would treat myself to a cheeky breakfast. Got a good feel for the place as soon as I walked in. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Got lucky as they have an offer on Tuesday's. Half breakfast with juice for a fiver. Half breakfast doesn't really do it justice. One each of sausage, egg, bacon, beans, toast and black pudding. Arrived quickly, hot and good quality. Huge glass of oj and a cup of tea to boot. Nice atmosphere, good music, and the lad working there seemed to have great rapport with his customers. Will definitely be back

On a nostalgic trip back to Aberystwyth 10 years after uni, my friends and I decided to have our Sunday morning breakfast at Sophie’s as we used to always go to The Upper Limit for hungover breakfast during our uni years! We arrived for 9:30 and were there when they opened. The fact there was 6 of us posed a problem and they didn’t have anywhere to seat us all together, meaning we had to split across two tables with a huge wooden screen between us. I had the vegan breakfast, and the food was a lot cheaper and greasier than I remember - but perhaps I’ve just grown more discerning in my old age! There were plenty of waiting staff working, but on a few occasions we had to ask a couple of times for things we’d ordered (sugars for hot drinks, toast with the breakfasts).

Visited here on the first say of our trip for breakfast, very friendly staff members, who had us seated very quickly. The room was lit beautifully with pretty lights. The waitress, was super friendly and very energetic! Had the food and drinks to us within record time! Food was delicious, and reasonably priced! I would defiantly recommend here for breakfast/ brunch.

We found this place after a Google search so thought we would give if a try.Very friendly staff and Covid aware. We felt very safe here even though it was busy. Had a big breakfast two days running to set us up for the day. The coffee was very good too.Next visit to Wales we will be back..

Visited here with my friend, very COVID aware and safe. Really good range of food, we had delicious sandwiches and lovely coffee. The serving staff were AMAZING and so friendly, we were served by a lovely lady and gent whose name we didn’t catch and a lovely friendly girl called morelle. Would highly recommend.

Amazing Vegan and gluten free breakfast!This is my 2nd visit to Sophies for breakfast and was not disappointed. Hash browns sausages beans tomatoes mushrooms toast. Range of teas. There is risk of CC so be aware if coeliac let them know when you order. I need to go back and try the lunch options!

The breakfast was wonderful. Although we had a long wait to get a table once we sat down and put our order in the food came quickly & hot. The staff were very busy and so the drinks came a little late however all this is a sign of a popular place. It was nice to have the option to build your own breakfast. My girlfriend enjoyed a lovely American style waffle which she says was gorgeous. Will sure to be back.

Food wasn’t the best. Had the avocado on toast with poached egg and salmon, however the avocado did not seem fresh, with black bits throughout it. The food was also bland with not even any salt, pepper or chilli flakes on the avocado or egg. However, the decor was cute and the hash browns were nice.

Was busy so we had to queue outside. The staff asked a couple on table for 4 if they would mind moving so we as a foursome could have that table. Well impressed. We had breakfast and both the service and the food were excellent. Would recommend Sophie's.

Breakfast here today en route to our holiday- best breakfast we’ve ever had! So fresh and tasty- quality produce and neatly presented. Bubbly efficient waitress and polite gentleman serving us- this is the ONLY place to eat if you want excellent food and service in Aberystwyth. Look forward to travelling here again.

We were travelling through Aberystwyth and chose here based on the reviews. They were correct. It didn’t look much from the outside but the staff were so lovely it helped us hang around for a table. The menu was fairly simple but covered e basics. What surprised was the tastiness of the food. Yummy. Highly recommended by all 6 of us.

Came here for breakfast twice during a break away with my girlfriend. Food is good quality and there are plenty of options including a good selection of veggie and vegan dishes. Reasonably priced. Staff are really friendly. Inside and outside seating are both very relaxed. Would highly recommend!

Best breakfast we have had in the area for a long time. The ingredients were local, I think. The bacon was lovely and the egg was a lovely colour. The food was plentiful and I am glad we never ordered the full breakfast as it would have been too much.We will definitely visit again when next in Aberystwyth.

Popped in for breakfast whilst in Aber. Breakfast menu has a lot of choice, including half size, vegetarian and American breakfasts with pancakes.Orders are taken at your table and food and drinks arrived quickly considering the restaurant was full. Full breakfast was really tasty and was a good portion size - American breakfast was superb with fluffy pancakes and perfect bacon.Coffee was very good and the choice between a pot or mug of tea was a nice option - as was the ability to have decaffeinated. Superb value for money and would definitely recommend for breakfast.

We had breakfast here after seeing the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Breakfast was the best we have had, bacon was spot on, eggs too, the whole plate was delicious. Home cooked and fresh food. The mug of tea was lovely and service really good. This has got to be the best place to have breakfast in the town, and good value for money.

Quick and friendly service. Pot of tea, hot chocolate, toasted tea cake and scone, jam and cream for just over £8. Will call again.

Traveling from up the Snowdonia my wife and I decided to take a pit stop in Aberystwyth for breakfast.We chose Sophie's due to previous posts and were not disappointed Greeted with a smile we were told to chose where we wanted to sit. Breakfast was ordered and delivered quickly. It was excellent and set us up for the day.Will visit again if ever in area

Great value, you get a lot for what you pay for. The vegan breakfast was lovely and very filling - the fried bread is a must. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Will be returning very soon.

Good cheap standard breakfast. Coffee good and the staff are excellent in fact. Only thing I would change would be the sausages for higher quality. Found them a bit mushy but I am fussy about sausages. It's our go to for breakfast in Aber and we've lived here for 25 years.

We visited Sophie's cafe in Aberyswyth and felt compelled to tell everyone how good it is. Having been a visitor to the town on numerous occasions I hadn't noticed this place. However having stumbled upon it I would definitely recommend it. The menu consists mainly of breakfasts, sandwiches and salads but dont be fooled, they are much nicer than your standard cafe grub. The choices were excellent, the food incredibly tasty and the staff are delightful, polite, professional and friendly. We had to wait around 5 minutes for a table to be available which is a testament to how popular Sophie's is. Well worth the wait. Cant wait to go back.

We visited Sophie’s after reading the TA reviews - it did not disappoint. It’s located in Aberystwyth town and is clearly a very popular choice. When we walked in the girls at the counter greeted us and asked if we wanted a table. The menu is fab - so much choice! I opted for a chip stack covered in macaroni cheese and my parter chose the Mac Daddy Burger. Both were lovely! I just wish we hadn’t left it to the last day of our trip to visit because I want to go back!

After finishing moving all my partners stuff out of her Aberystwyth flat, a good breakfast was needed before the three and a bit hour drive home. Of course Sophie’s was always going to be the breakfast of choice.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, so it was busy but they managed to find us a table. I fancied the American breakfast served with a waffle but was told it was not cooked fresh in-house (store-bought I assume?) which was a real shame Instead we both opted for the 'Sophie's burger', which was very tasty and filling.

This was a good find - really tasty and interesting food for all times of day, good coffee and serving staff that are keen to engage and to serve what you want. Comfortable surroundings and generally quiet enough to chat.

I took my son here for a post-parkrun, end of holiday breakfast and we were not disappointed. We both "built our own" breakfast and everything was fresh and delicious. I had fried eggs, hash brown and fried bread as well as a pancake and maple syrup. My son got carried away and had 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 hash browns, a fried egg and a pancake and wolfed it all down. The bacon looked particularly good (although as a veggie I didn't sample it myself), being thick and without any fat on it. A mug of tea was included which I thought was a nice touch.

Etwas Wartezeit am Eingang ist für mich eigentlich immer ein gutes Zeichen für Qualität. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Full English Breakfast (wenn man es denn mag) war super. Als Nachtisch hatten meine Töchter noch einen sehr zu empfehlendes Eis-Kakao mit Mini- Marshmallow als Einlage. Hätte eigentlich auch schon gereicht.

Sophie's was recommended to us by a local and we were delighted to follow up on the tip. Excellent and flexible menu (you could make your own breakfast dish out of the choices), everything we tasted was delicious, and the service was top notch, always with a smile and prompt to help you. We miss it...

Took a little while to get a table, which is probably a good sign, on a Sunday morning. All ordered pretty basic breakfast food but the quality was good and the portions pretty sizeable. Nice service too. Recommended.

Went for brunch. There was a queue for tables and a party of 5 in front of us. We stood in the queue to be seated, letting the lady behind the counter know we were two. We were given a table and sat down to look at the menu.

I always make a point of eating at Sophie’s every time I come to Aberystwyth. Been coming here for 5 years and never been disappointed. Ok the menu hasn’t changed much in all that time but why ruin a winning formula.

Nothing terribly wrong with this cafe, but not sure it deserves the high reviews. We had Saturday morning breakfast here and it was fine - not great, not terrible. I had poached eggs, and asked for them to be cooked soft. They weren't and what's more they were cooked in those little containers, rather than properly, free style. The staff are very friendly and the coffee was good, but the breakfast itself ? Meh .......

We (four adults and a one year old) visited Sophie’s for lunch on a Sunday. We were welcomed as we walked through the door, they were busy and all tables were taken however we were happy to wait. We ordered three burgers, a club sandwich and a jacket potato and everyone was impressed with the portion size and value for money. This is a friendly cafe with a lovely atmosphere.

My partner and I were visiting for the day and we saw this spot while walking about. The staff at Sophie‘s were very nice and accommodating. We both had the Club sandwiches with a side of chips. They were both very tasty. Apparently they have a great breakfast as well. We will check that out next time we visit. I would recommend

I was almost put off by a review that described this place as a 'greasy spoon'. Glad I wasn't - the Moroccan deli sandwiches we had are not greasy spoon fare! Fresh baguette, filled with homemade kofte, haloumi, garlic mayo and salad, served with crisps and slaw, were delicious, and the coffee was excellent. Service was friendly and polite. The decor is clean but very basic - perhaps that's what led to the 'greasy spoon' description?

You can read so many excellent reviews, but I don’t agree with them. Went here first morning in Aberystwyth because of others’ comments on tripadvisor, but disappointed. Customer service 3 stars, one server was worth 5 stars but when another arrived - looked like Sophie (didn’t confirm - but judging by photos on social media) and from her arrival service was 3 star at best, mainly because the second one spent so much time talking to the other - distracting her. The second one not good at eye contact, making you feel valued, or like a customer. Full breakfast was of average size - not an issue, well cooked, but not ‘wow’, toast was dreadful. Soft cotton wool white bread (no choice offered) cut thickly (good) but almost wholly untoasted and had to be sent back - it was obvious as the plate was served, so how come the server had to be told? Butter deep frozen. Coffee 4 stars, tea 3 stars. Promotion of the restaurant on social media is better than its delivery in reality. There are better breakfast places in this lovely town. Given the other reviews it may be something else was causing problems this day. If there were not better places I’d go back, but there are.

Looking for somewhere for breakfast when I go to visit Aber meals look good till I saw the picture of a dog licking a saucer on the table. Sorry but that is a no no from me absolutely horrible. Will definitely won't be going there

Sophie’s is a lovely cafe with a thriving atmosphere that is always nearly full! We tried to get breakfast here on a Saturday morning but there was a 20 minute wait for a table so we missed out that day! We managed to come back on a Monday morning to just get a table before they were full and I’m glad we did as it was the best breakfast I’ve had in Wales!! My partner had the full English which was a good plate of food, I had the American breakfast which was again a good portion with sausage, hash brown, bacon, fried bread, pancakes and maple syrup!! This was just the breakfast I was after as I’m not keen on everything you get with a full English breakfast (e.g. beans, mushrooms etc).

Visiting my niece at Uni and this place was recommended for breakfast. It was bustling and busy; understandably so, as it offers fantastic food at reasonable prices with cheery, helpful staff.

I visited this cafe twice and both times were great. The breakfast menu is great... loads of choice! I could happily have stayed in Aberystwyth a few weeks and worked my way through Sophie’s breakfast menu with a different choice every day!

Used to go here a lot in my younger days, usually to fend off the Saturday night hangover. It’s no doubt changed hands a few times over the years but it was brill to drop by and still see a decent cafe serving classic good food. So much so I’ve been three times in the last few weeks. It’s always busy, with folk quite often waiting patiently for a table. The breakfast menu is fantastic. Well worth a visit!

I have been to sophie's many times over the past few years and I still think its the best place to go for breakfast especially after a night out. The vegetarian breakfast is brilliant and I often come in for one of the sandwiches, I would highly recommend the Med sandwich if you visit here for lunch. And there is a great selection of drinks available, the luxury milkshakes are the best around especially the oreo milkshake.

Me and my mrs decided to go for breakfast whilst in the area and it was the best choice we made... the monster American breakfast was the best thing I’ve ever tasted...whenever we come to visit from now on this is the place we will be coming to..the staff were very friendly and welcoming...but I cannot stop talking about how nice the breakfast was...I definitely recommend going here...
