Socrates At No 5 in Northumberland

Wonderful lunch, Brilliant food. Lovely staff. Warm and cosy and a fabulous menu. What more could you want.

Apparently this was ranked No.2 among Morpeth Restaurants when it was run by the deceased Socrates? Now renamed Yasu which means Cheers. A rather limited lunch menu but two of us chose fired Haloumi as a starter and the third order was mixed Greek sauces on a mix of breads and pita. Excellent choices and the accompaniments for the breads was enough for 6 guests. A large bottle of chilled water was put on the table - all good so far. But the water was not refilled. Waiting for the mains we looked around and the walls and decor show not a hint of Greek tradition. How odd. How dull! Beef Stifado came in an extraordinary pileo of chips in a bashet, rice in a bowl and the stifado in anther larger bowl. Of course one had to tip all of these out onto a plate to eat and then we sat with these piles of containers on the table. Quite why chips and boiled rice came but no matter. The beef was very tender but was simply a beef stew with pearl onions. It lacked the essential flavours of stifado which demand a lot of oregano, garlic and a touch of cinnamon. The fried calamari came looking different to any I have seen before - not in crispy rings, but in large wedges, My daughter-in-law felt the calamari was undercooked but the coating was tasty. The service was clumsy. It might seem that I am trying to pick faults but I am being honest. Eventually 4 or5tablse were filled and those gusts were chewing away with gusto. Perhaps it is just me but I would not go again.

It’s quite a small restaurant, narrow and too bright! The decor’s confusing considering it’s cuisine is Greek. No apparent nods to that inside, rather just a bland space with a few framed pictures of Morpeth hanging on the wall. And to be honest before the food arrived I was wishing I’d booked elsewhere. BUT The food was excellent, lovey and fresh, and great flavour. Very generous portions. The service was great. Pricing, a tiny bit expensive, but actually for the quality of the food and service, you don’t mind. This place could be so much better, with more of an authentic setting, new menus (current ones covered in tipp-ex and stickers), a dimmer switch and some Greek inspired music (rather than the lighthouse family). The most important things though, food and service were absolutely great.

Under new management now called YASU Still authentic greek food Have visited many times when it was Socretes. Decided to give it a try under new owners and was not disapointed. Very good food plenty choice and told a new menu is due soon

Yesterday evening the 2nd February my wife and her friends visited this establishment. There were 4 of them in total. I asked my wife if she could bring me home a chicken gyros after her meal as I love the Greek gyros. On returning home I enquired as to how her meal was. In response she said “it was not only the worst Greek food she’d had, it was the worst food she’d ever eaten” . That’s saying something as we visit Greece at least once a year and love authentic Greek cuisine. She explained that the starters were poorly prepared and ‘a strange combination of ingredients’ . The main course for all 4 of them was over cooked and dry to the point all them left their food and when asked by the waitress if everything was okay ? the response was an emphatic no, to which a a mumbled response was given but no offer of an apology or reduction in the bill. Looking forward to my gyros and hoping it was better than my wife and her friends experience I was sadly disappointed. There was a total of roughly 4 greasy, soggy chips. Roughly 5 or 6 small dried out chicken pieces and the salad looked at least 2 days old and also dried out which went straight in the bin.The pita bread was okay though. The reason I’m writing this and not my wife is she doesn’t like confrontation but I feel restaurants should be held accountable for poor food and service. You would think in this present economical climate restaurants would be making every effort to give a good service when finances are tight, after all you need repeat customers. My wife and her friends paid over £120 for an extremely sub standard experience and then paid £7.50 for an extremely sub standard gyros which went into the bin. I decided to share a photo of my £7.50 gyros. I’m also more than willing to speak in person to the owner, chef if they’re happy to.

We’ve always had really tasty food from here but I don’t know what happened this time. Since lockdown we’ve been having takeaway instead of going into the restaurant and the food tasted exactly the same. The king prawns in the zorba were nice but not a strong taste but I think it was because the sauce was like tomato water. The kleftico was the same. Both the chips and the lamb tasted as if they’d been boiled. All you could taste was garlic, no herbs. The salad was tasteless too, normally it has olive oil and herbs on it but there was nothing. I don’t know if they have a new Chef or if it was just a bad day but for £37, I expected better.

Visited for the first time last night to celebrate my birthday. Absolutely top class food, everyone commented on how good every dish was (12 of us) and the portion size was unreal. Thank you so much to Cath and the rest of the team, we will definitely be back as the service from the staff was equal to the food

I ate here on Saturday night with friends and after not being for a while I was so pleased to see the food and service were both still fantastic. I benefited twice as the portions were so generous, I took home a doggy bag home enjoy for dinner the following night.

Visited in September. Food not great, absolutely no atmosphere and ladies toilet opens straight into the restaurant. Didn’t find it good value for money. When I asked for one of the starters to be slightly altered the reply was NO … do t know if the service staff are the owners but there was no interaction with the customers whatsoever!!

Had a wonderful meal on Friday evening. The food was delicious, I particularly recommend the chicken souvlaki. Lovely atmosphere too.

We love it here. Even a fussy 13 year old loves the food. Everything that comes out of the kitchen looks and smells incredible. The food is fresh, packed with flavour and the portions are generous. The staff are warm and welcoming and you are made to feel like you're the only customer despite the place being full Highly recommend Socrates.

Husband and I had a starter each and a main each. Both were really, really tasty. I was gutted it couldn't finish my main as I was so full! My advice would be to not get a starter because the portions are quite big! The 2 ladies serving were really friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Starters - Sticky Chicken: delicious. Goats Cheese: best starter I’ve ever had. A taste sensation! Mains- lamb kleftiko: amazing. Moussaka: huge portion served with Greek salad and garlic bread. So yummy. From start to finish we were so happy with our meal. If you are thinking of booking a table here, do it!

Really quaint little restaurant with family staff and incredible food. Prawns and Feta Saganaki was divine and a great portion size. We also had the Halloumi, Lamb Kleftiko and Prawn Zorba, all delicious. Would highly recommend and definitely will return.

We visited as a family when we were on holiday recently. We were blown away with the food. Within our group We ordered starters ( sticky chicken which was delish, a platter board, Calamari) then for mains we had Moussaka, steak, stifado and the flavours were absolutely delicious. We over ordered and because the portions were big couldn’t finish the mains but they were happy to pack them up for me so I could take it home to enjoy the next day. In summary, the service was perfect, we were looked after very well. Shout out to the chef! We loved your food and wish we lived nearer to come back tomorrow! Next time we are in Morpeth we will be back!

This is it, gorgeous cooked with love you can actually tell the chef loves their job, defo back again, everything we had was superb to say the least. Lemon possible, something else that is. Lol

My mum and I ordered takeaway from this restaurant, which has to be preordered. We chose the shoulder of lamb kleftiko with potatoes and vegetables. The food was all beautifully cooked, the lamb tender and falling apart, the portions are very large, we enjoyed the meal very much and will be ordering again.

We went here for my brothers belated 50th dinner and it didn’t disappoint. It’s deserves to be No. 1. A lovely little restaurant by the block tower, great service and the food was incredible. Best meal I have had in a good while. My brother had the prawn with lemon pitta bread to start snd I had the sticky chicken the portions were huge but tasted divine. I had the fillet metaxa, my brother the monkfish and prawn kebabs, mum had the sea bass all beautifully cooked… my chips were best I’ve ever had. We were full but couldn’t resist the deserts so brother snd I had the creme brûlée lovely but mums lemon posset was a taste explosion. Very reasonable and just could not fault it in any way. Im already planning next visit when im up end of this month. If I lived there I’d be there all the time. They do takeaways too win win. Compliments to the chef and thank you for a delicious dinner.

The service was really good catering for coeliac and nut allergy which gave us confidence. Food was excellent and service was spot on and relaxed. Would certainly return.

It’s a popular restaurant so you need to book in advance. We enjoyed a range of dishes - the menu is quite varied with a number of traditional Greek items. Food is good and portions are large. We aren’t big eaters and would have been better sharing a main course after our starters. We were looked after well by very attentive staff.

Visited Socrates@No.5 on a girls' weekend in Northumberland and what a wise choice it was. The atmosphere and staff were warm and welcoming and, to get the obvious out of the way in the current climate, all necessary Covid rules were followed.Now to the important part: the menu was extensive, reasonably priced and very authentic from what we ordered and, crucially, my party's dietary requirements were (mostly) happily accommodated by the chef. Everything we ordered was delicious, but beware, the portions are huge and, unwilling to give up the rest of my main course after our fabulous meze, the staff were kind enough to put the remains in a doggy bag which I enjoyed all over again the next day! Unfortunately we were too full to fit in desserts, but feel sure the standard would have been equally as good.Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this fabulous restaurant if you're lucky enough to be in the area..... treat yourself!Just two suggestions to make this place 100% perfect for me - please offer gluten free bread and please play Greek background music!

A perfect end to our break at Socrates! Fantastic high quality food, with great service. Would highly recommend the monkfish and prawn Zorba dishes. If we lived closer, then we would eat there again!

My wife and I rounded off our holiday with a meal at Socrates@No5. She opted for the Chicken Souvlaki whilst I went for the Lamb Kleftiko. Very generous portions and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The lamb literally melted in my mouth and the flavour was superb. All washed down with a very reasonably priced Pinot Grigio.Service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely return!

Having read the very positive reviews and been recommended the restaurant by our B&B host, we had high expectations of Socrates 5. However, we were disappointed with our meal. On the positive side, the decor is very nice and the welcome very warm. The service was professional and friendly. The specials were good. The sardine starter and Sea Bass main were very tasty. Unfortunately, the food from the regular menu was poor. The calamari tasted of absolutely nothing and had the texture of rubber. The moussaka was awful. Indeed, it was by far the worst moussaka I have ever tasted. There was no resemblance to the classic Greek dish. I am sure that this restaurant can do better. However, they need to look very hard at the standard of food that they are producing. This meal was not good enough.

Superb quality takeaway food during currnt lockdown. Generous portions of amazing food. The Lamb Kleftico is sublime. We had sticky chicken too - beautiful. Lovely accompaniments of rice, fresh vegetables and potatoes. And some lovely herby chips. Lucky to have this restaurant on our doorstep.

We had a takeaway last night and oh my goodness it was absolutely amazing. It was my husband’s 60th birthday. He chose lamb kleftiko and I had the chicken Athenian. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. There was so much that we’ve had the same tonight. Absolute gourmet cuisine!! Thank you Sox and Val. I’ve loved your food for almost 40 years. You never fail to impress. Thank you once again for an amazing meal which actually became two meals!!

Being in the "At Risk" category we are reluctant to eat-in even with all precautions in place (which Socrates@No.5 has) so we decided to have another takeaway from Socrates@No.5. We vacillated between having the same meals as last time because we enjoyed them so much, or try something different. We went for the latter and were delighted with our choices. We selected the Trio of Dips and a Greek salad as starters which we shared and really enjoyed; they are quite big and filling so be warned!. Then I had the King Prawns Zorba with rice and salad and my wife had the Chicken Lemanato with vegetables and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals - we even left some over to have the next day they were so delicious: we'd both award five stars for the food. And, of course we had to have the two deserts from the menu Baklava and Kataifi - brill. The meals were ready on time for collection, freshly prepared, and as delicious as our first takeaway meal from this restaurant. The lady who dealt with my order was very friendly as was the lady who looked after the collection. My grandson and his partner have promised me a meal out and this is where I'll choose when we can once again meet-up and enjoy a night out. Until then we will continue with takeaways from Socrates@No.5. If you are sceptical about this review then all I can say is either try a takeaway or book a meal at this restaurant and you'll find out that everthing I've said is accurate. Wonderful food, friendly staff and excellent service. Try it and see.

Ate here last week and it was fantastic. Firstly, go with an appetite! We all had a starter and main and we had to go for the old doggy-bag. We love Greece and there was a lamb dish I’ve not seen there or a Greek restaurant, lamb kapama, maybe I’ve just missed it before but I recommend it. Catherine served us and she was lovely. We can’t recommend this restaurant enough, we’ll go again next time we’re visiting the area.

We chanced our luck by trying Socrates without having pre-booked in the post Covid world, and got a table.The staff were friendly and interested in our stay in Morpeth; they also explained about the chef and some of the menu choices. The meals weren't the cheapest but it was great value as the taste and character of the meals matched the price.I had a lamb kepala dish with delicious potatoes, which I recommend as an introduction to Greek cuisine if you haven't had it much before. The portions were huge. My partner had a souvlaki that had with it generous helpings of sides and sauces.The setting and decor were really cute. I got a sense that it had recently re-opened with safety measures in place since lockdown. Would definitely go again.

Unfortunately the restaurant was not open in July fully but they were doing takeaways, myself and my mother ordered one and it was as good as our last meal which we had there over last Christmas. We both ordered the lamb shoulder Kleftiko and it was beautiful, very generous portion sizes too. I am back in Morpeth in October and we will definitely be booking another meal there.

We ordered a takeaway after reading so many excellent reviews and Mr. Socrates certainly didn’t disappoint. We opted for Greek Salad Starters followed by Chicken Souvlaki both of which were amazing. The Souvlaki was served with an delicious sauce and red onions and the best hand cooked chunky chips we’ve had in years. This place is a gem of a find. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

. . . . . Socrates' food is the TASTIEST of any restaurant I've visited for years. It's exceptional. That's all I wanted-to say but, apparently, I have to write 100 words minimum for a review. I could go on to describe other things, like the friendly and thoughtful service, the cosy ambiance, etc., all of which would be justified, but the bottom line is, we come here repeatedly because the food really is so good.

Ordered a range of starters and mains for a party of 6. Every dish was delicious,well seasoned,distinctive and flavoursome. Excellent value for money,very generous portion sizes which allowed us to have a second taste the following day. Highly recommended.

I wanted to celebrate my birthday at Socrates as a special treat but had to cancell because of the lock-down and the need to self-isolate. So as a belated birthday meal I arranged for a takeaway and believe me it was excellent. I know the choice is restricted but we had the vegetarian meze to start and then the kleftiko and finished with two desserts. The whole meal was superb, delicious and plentiful - too much in fact. We left half to the kleftiko to have the next day. It was beautifully and made up for the delay in celebrating my birthday. The arrangements for takeaways works well with the 10 mins gap just right. We'll be back whether to eat in or out we'll use this restaurant again without hesitation.

Socrates has long been my favourite restaurant visiting with my grandma at least once a week until recently. I moved away from Morpeth but Travel back to visit my favourite restaurant as often as I can. I highly recommend the Athenian chicken sizzler. Tarragon chicken, goats cheese starter and sticky chicken starter are also incredible.

First time ive had a takeaway from here and i will most definitely get another one. The king prawn zorba was absolutely delicious. He catered for my daughter who is vegan and it was all simply delicious. Highly recommended 👌

Got a takeaway last night, had to wait 10 mins food not ready. No big deal until I got home, 3 cold meals and one hot. The 3 wraps and chips obviously sat on a bench awaiting the main meal being cooked. Food was OK, but just OK.Main chicken meal with an overpowering sauce, chucked half of the sauce away. Veg was overpowering and too oily as well. Not terrible food, but don't get what all the fuss is about. Unless the regular chef was off. Still no excuse.

Had a takeaway from here due to the pandemic. We both had lamb kleftico and was absolutely delicious and huge portions. Rang to preorder, paid contactless on arrival, brilliant!

We hadn’t had chance to visit Socrates at No 5 before lockdown so their takeaway service is the first experience we’ve had of them. We were both favourably impressed.Their FB page indicates that you need to preorder and you can do that from 11:00 onwards for collection from 16:30 - 20:30 on Wed-Sat evening. So you need to think ahead a little bit (but not much). I called at 12:00 on Saturday and they only had 3 delivery slots left which the lady on the phone told me immediately. As we don’t mind eating early we went for the 16:40 slot. My husband collected it and it was all ready for him and he was able to pay contactless. If you want to eat later you may need to be prompt about phoning them.We ordered the lamb kleftico with roast veg and potatoes and the beef stifado with hand cut chips and rice. At this point I should say that some of my earliest memories of food are eating Cypriot cooking. Finding good Greek food in this country that brings back these memories is harder than it should be but the meal from Socrates achieved that!The meat in both dishes was fork tender and delicious the chips and potatoes were how I remember potatoes from Cyprus, the rice was lovely (maybe more carbs than we needed!). If I was going to pick one tiny fault it would be with the roasted vegetables; personally I like roasted root veg or roasted Mediterranean veg but not together. A personal opinion but it didn’t stop me eating them. The beef stifado was excellent but the best of the two dishes in both our opinions was the lamb kleftico with a delicious lemon and herb flavour that I love (I make my own Socrates’ was better). The only we have now is daring to try anything else from the menu when tonight’s meal was so good. Oh and we’ve got enough left for lunch tomorrow.

Delicious takeaway for dinner last night. We had the vegetable mezze as a starter. My moussaka was delicious and the family lived the gyros and chips!

What a gem we discovered when we dined here, the food, service and ambience were excellent, we couldn't fault it. Four of us had different meals chicken, duck, beef and fish and each of us were delighted by the quality, presentation and taste. It won't be long until we return

The menu is very comprehensive with both a specials board and set meal board. All excellent quality and a fair price. Service is first class. Definately one to come back to.

We have visited this restaurant several times and have always had a lovely meal. However after this visit we probably wont go back. We arrived on time for a 6pm sitting. Menus and drinks orders were taken, we then waited a while for food orders to be taken. Food arrived and it was lovely, service wasnt the best, we weren't asked if we would like more drinks and then very quickly after dessert and moving of furniture round the room the waitress asked who would like the bill. The bill was a scrappy piece of paper with total amounts and crossing outs, I asked could it be itemized and she replied "I can give you a menu, you were supposed to be out by 8". Which I get when you operate 2 sittings, but very rude and embarrassing especially when they took a while to serve us then rush you out the door.

We have just been for the first time and definitely not the last. Can't believe we haven't been here before. Had the set 3 course meal and very filling and pleasing to the eyes. Lovely service and quite an intimate ambience. Although small you are not crammed in and the music is just audible to block out other diner's conversations.

What can I say ! I have never taken the opportunity to eat at Socrates however my partner had and was always saying we should give it a try. Well, for Valentines we made a table booking and I will say categorically, tonight's meal is the best restaurant meal I have had for a very long time. The facility is tight but cozy and the staff attentive and caring. The meals we chose.. A Greek starter to share which was good and my Belly pork meal plus Anne's Chicken sizzle.. were amazing. Very rare you go to a restaurant who fills your plate as if it was your mam feeding you so you were full to the gills..Wow !! And the tastes..exquisite !! This has to be Morpeth #1 restaurant !! Barluga is very good but Socrates holds the gold medal for being beyond excellent at what they do..again..in a confined space!...You only live once..if you haven't already planned a booking please put it on your bucket list of one of the things/places to eat before you go to the big restaurant the sky !!!

My favourite restaurant to visit in Morpeth. The food is of very high standard and you feel welcomed as soon as you enter. It’s like being in Greece but only 10 minutes from your house! Booking is recommended.

Very simply this was a great food experience! Excellent menu, very authentic, staff were attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Lovely family ran feel that generated a warm and welcoming experience. Priced well we recommend the gyros!

My wife and I have visited several times with various friends over the years and always leave well satisfied with the excellent food quality and service. Nine of us ( all of a certain age !!) were there this week and were again delighted with Sox et al! Two of our company are inveterate Greek o’files and said the kleftika was the best they’d ever tasted!

Following an earlier lunch we returned with another two friends. We all enjoyed an excellent two course lunch, starters were Greek style soup with crusty bread and home made duck pate. Main courses were Stifado with chips and rice and also with mixed vegetables, another chose Moussaka. None of us had room for a dessert. We were delighted with our second visit here and will certainly return.

We opted not to have a starter but mains and desert, I had the lamb Kleftiko and it was excellent, also a very generous portion. My husband and mother had the stuffed filleted sea bass which they really enjoyed too. The main courses were served with plenty of fresh, seasonal vegetables. For desert we had the hot sticky toffee pudding, my favourite and it as also very good. We will be returning again.

My wife and I visited Socrates between Christmas and New Year. The restaurant has a great, cosy atmosphere and whilst not the biggest it can lay claim to be one of the best in Morpeth.

Visited on Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious... the lamb was so tender and tasty: vegetables nice and fresh and tasty. The portion size is generous: the quality is great. Had lemon posset for afters...mmmmmm my friend had creme brûlée and she was equally as happy.

Visited on Thursday night for dinner and once again the food was first class. My husband and myself have visited loads of times and never had a bad meal - I would say not just the best food in Morpeth but the best food we have had in the North East. Lovely to get taken into the kitchen by my fellow Glaswegian waitress Linda to meet "Socs" and compliment him on his food. It's a pleasure dining there and look forward to many more visits.

Visited here whilst staying with a friend who lived locally, the food was outstanding and certainly enjoyable, I had the Beef stifado and it was delicious. I wish I lived closer to visit with my husband as we both love Greek food.

Four of us enjoyed a very good lunch here, our friends had been her several times but it was our first visit. The menus are varied with lunch, main and specials all available the Greek chicken soup was picked by 2, 1 had grilled sardines and 1 Melon. For mains Moussaka, and two different chicken dishes and Beef Stifado. Desserts were not possible today as the portions are very generous. We were so impressed we are planning a return visit with another couple very soon. We have no reservations in firmly recommending Socrates to anyone eating out in Morpeth.

My husband and I called in on speck and had a lovely table for two. The prawn and Feta Skaganaki was wonderful. We both had Amelia and it was Greek fine dining. A small but beautifully decorated restaurant with a lovely waitress and a great chef. We will certainly be returning.

Food fantastic, service excellent, this small restaurant really delivers on extremely tasty food. Understated manner but well worth a visit, try the specials they are different class and complimentary Glasgow waitress who gives the super friendly touch.

This place is a little beauty. We got a table straight away and the service was excellent. We had some awesome Greek food and the portion sizes were excellent. We had the halloumi starter, Athenian sizzler and chicken souvlaki.

Came here me my husband and daughter and it was a wonderful evening . The restraunt welcomed us on arrival we had the window seat so could see the christmas tree outside which was lovely . Staff were friendly and service was excellent and cant fault the food it was beautiful every course was faultless and delicious this was our first visit but wont be our last it was gorgeous and we had a really wonderful meal and first class experience thankyou so much .

I'd endorse previous positive reviews. There was a varied choice - not just Greek, friendly service and the quality was excellent. The portions really were massive so be careful if you order a starter too!

Fantastic meal here meal tonight. (Very difficult to choose from such an extensive menu!) food was delicious, service excellent and restaurant perfect. Can’t recommend highly enough :) Will definitely revisit next time we are in Northumberland! Good value for money too!

Went here for a meal with friends. Staff friendly and restaurant clean and tidy. Specials on a chalk board. Starters were well portioned and really tasty. The mains between us we OK. The gyro was a little like a kebab shop and I wonder whether the presentation could be ramped up. Two of us had the veggie moussaka, which was plentiful but really quite tasteless. No custard topping and very little aubergine and there is definitely scope for improvement in this dish. There was plenty of it and it was suspiciously very, very hot. I was rather disappointed but fortunately the starter had been so good. Maybe the other reviews refer to a meat based version.

Visited with friends for lunch. The restaurant is quite small but the staff are very friendly and efficient. We all chose from the Lunchtime special menu from which there were about 4 choices for each course. I had the duck liver pate followed by the Beef Stifado. The food was quite delicious. To follow I had an indulgent cheesecake. They also had Theakstons XB on draft! We shall certainly return. Thoroughly recommended.

The food is amazing, portions are amazing and so are the staff, it’s quite expensive but worth every penny! Kudos to the chefs because it’s exactly like how it is when we visit Greece! We came as a family of 10 and were accommodated for very well! We’ve been back since and it’s been gorgeous every time!

Having lived in Cyprus (similar) this was a great little find whilst visiting Morpeth, the meals were excellent and the service was very friendly and professional, will definitely go back again when next in the area

This is truely an excellent restaurant - our favourite in Morpeth. The food is just amazing, excellent choice of food and wine, good quality, fresh and well cooked with over-generous portion sizes. The staff (Catherine and Vicki - sorry, I didn't make a note of the young man who also waited on us, but he is included in this well deserved praise) are warm and welcoming and cannot do enough to assist. It is a small restaurant and you may have to wait a little between courses(but not excessively) but do not let this put you off. This restaurant, tucked away behind the Clock Tower in Morpeth, is an absolute gem and not to be missed. Thank you to the staff and chef for a very successful 70th Birthday meal on the 25th September - and it was great of you to deliver the cake to the table at just the right moment.

This lovely Greek restaurant in Morpeth fully deserves to be the number one place to eat in Morpeth (currently number two) The menu is packed with an exciting number of great dishes and neither of us was disappointed. Staff excellent, food obviously freshly cooked ......and prices and portion sizes to suit everyone. Thanks to all.

Beautiful meal out with friends. We had a range of starters from the a la carter answered specials menu. Stand out dishes were the spiced whipped goats cheese starter and the salmon wrapped in filo pastry. The portions are huge so there was room for pud. With a descendent and reasonably priced wine list this restaurant is a little gem. Fabulous food and amazing staff. Love it

Have eaten lunch here a couple of times and could not fault the food or service. There’s a very good lunchtime offer of two courses for a set price. I can’t remember how much because to be honest when I eat out, if the food is good I forget the price. Only disappointment is the toilet where the surroundings are not the same high quality as the rest of the establishment - a good scrub and a coat of paint would easily rectify. Still definitely recommend as worth a visit, and book ahead because it is deservedly popular.

Wonderful food, large portions and very friendly and efficient staff. Will definitely return when next in the area.

Hubbie and I recently had dinner here and well what can I say, the meal was absolutely fabulous, portions generous, service was great and the overall ambience was spot on. It was one of the best meals we have had in a long time...if I could score it 6 I would! Worth every penny and we will definitely be back.

Came here with friends who live in the area and it was amazing. Great food, service and atmosphere. Portions huge. Suggest sharing a starter and all at a very reasonable price tag
