Sitar in Gwynedd

Couldn’t decide which takeaway to have last night and haven’t had an Indian in sitar for a long time, so decided to go there. Our order took 15 minutes and when I went to collect it - I was the only person there. This made me a tad nervous! Well I couldn’t have been more wrong!!! I have to say hands down this was the tastiest Indian I have ever had! Chicken chat, onion bhaji, mushroom rice, chicken tikka masala, the sauces, naan bread and salad. It was all 10/10. First time I’ve ever had a crispy onion bhaji from a restaurant and not a soggy one!! Highly recommended *****

We rang our order through as advised took about 20 minutes. They don't take cards! Curry was good prawn & spinach . Lamb balti was a little tough. Nan bread was lush. Two curries with 3 sides £23 would return .

Whilst staying in the area there are limited options to eat out. Sitar had good reviews so we thought we would give it a go. We were not disappointed! The food was scrummy and not remotely greasy. Such a surprise from a little village takeaway. Definitely worth a visit. My partner believes this could have been the best curry he’s ever had!!!

I've never been disappointed with a meal from this establishment. I thoroughly recommend it. They will gladly adjust the heat of your dish to your taste.

Very nice food here and cheaper than the one next door. Good customer service and they have won an award which in my opinion very worthy. We go here for a takeaway when we can.

Popped in to Sitar for a takeaway whilst in the area. Very happy to see a vast choice of vegetarian options including quorn. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, will definitely be back 👍

The best Indian Takeaway around for miles. Amazing food, great service and good quality for money. All the food is made to order and is well worth a visit.

While on holiday and staying in a wonderful little cottage (The Cosy Inn) we decided to have a take away.

Really sorry to say but this was horrendous food, the ambience is a lot to be desired but never judge a book by its cover and as it was rated high on trip advisor we thought we’d give it a go. No alcoholic drinks are available. Coke was flat and we had to ask for another, not much more fizz in second. Now I am not one to complain but we left more food than we ate. The butter paneer masala was really sweet and I was unable to eat it. My daughter had chicken Lorna and was complaining of the chicken being chewy, I didn’t believe her until I tried it and I have never had chicken like it, not sure how long ago it had been cooked and how many times reheated. My husband was unable to eat his dinner too. Quite expensive at £43 for 2 waters and a coke and 3 mains with 2 rice. I really would avoid if you can. Wish I’d cooked at home instead, and ended up getting sandwiches from Tesco which were better!!

Foods is decent enough, But very expensive and never the same price, next door is much cheaper, disappointing

Really disappointed with this takeaway, vegetarian dishes were over cooked bland and there was no variation in the spicyness of any of them. The Naans were limp and undercooked and meat dishes looked like they had been heated up in a micro wave .Standards definitely going down hill here ...won't be back.

We visited this Chinese takeaway on our trip from the US of A.. The food was disgusting and not like any Chinese we have ever eaten. The Indian staff did not seem to know what Chinese meant. Try KFC down the road the food is at least eatable.

A really varied menu, well cooked and tasty. Would recommend the sitar to everyone visiting the area, lovely curries, nice rice and accompaniments.

We were camping nearby so thought we'd indulge in a take away. It was fine & filled the gap but not a great place to be honest. All curries were tomato based with added extras. Tasty with a few beers but wouldn't say its reputation was correct. Chef needs to up his game if City folks are to praise his curries. Need better blending of spices not just use the same base for everything.

Where do I start, 1st take away in about 9 months so was hoping for something half decent, unfortunately I chose the wrong eating place, I went for a vegetarian curry which looked like last weeks reheated slop, just tinned carrots, sweetcorn, potato and green beans, it really was bland old dog food, think the chef needs to go back to being a traffic warden or whatever he did before walking in off the street and having a go in the kitchen, don't know why these people think it's OK so supply such low grade garbage to the public and expect us to just be happy with it, hopefully the management will read this and take note, try putting some pride into what you are doing and using some fresh ingredients, your food is 10 times worse than a ready meal, sort it out!

Fantastic food, freshly cooked, the staff were very helpful and friendly would highly recommend this takeaway.

I've never had a better curry than from here. Consistently top quality and big portions.The staff are always welcoming. Highly recommend the Chicken Chilli Naga.

This takeaway makes good, fresh meals. The menu, as usual, emphasises meat, but I had a goo spinach and potato starter, paneer tikka as the main course, and excellent paratha and chapatis. It took about ten minutes to prepare it.

Scrumptiously delicious. The makhoni was lovely. Cash only which is awkward these days. Really friendly staff aswell. Reccomended.

Had new years take away from Sitar and have to say it's the nicest Indian we've had in North Wales in forever (I'm quite the curry snob!). Delicious curries, varied flavours, not too greasy and very fresh. Will definitely come again!

This is a great Indian restaurant located in Bethesda. The food is both tasty and can be a little on the spicy side. Please visit if here on holiday.

A King Prawn Dupiaza, a Chicken Balti, chips and rice, plus a garlic naan, and all for less than £20 - plus, it was tasty as well.

Ordered enough food for 15 people last night. It was all ready in 30 minutes and everyone really enjoyed. The veg sides are amazing! The service was great as usual. Diolch! Gwen :)

Nunca he estado en este restaurante/llevar hasta hoy. Tan pronto como llegué, me recibieron con una cálida bienvenida. Yo pedí un Pollo Korma, Pilau arroz, nan pan, patatas fritas y Popodums y tengo que decir que es la comida mejor que he comido en bastante...

We decided to get a take away while staying with the in laws over the festive period and weren't disappointed. We ordered over the phone and our food was ready at the time given and when we got it home it was hot and tasty.This take away comes highly recommended locally and we would definitely use it again when visiting the town.

Popped in quickly to order food for me and my boyfriend, when got our meal I brought it back and explained that there was a mix up, the lady (late 30's) at the desk laughed in our face and told us we were wrong. Was very patronising, we asked for a refund and she refused and made us feel extremely uncomfortable, food is always up to standard, just upsetting that this lady works here and has absolutely no skills and laughing in our faces, looked like a hippy, such a shame as I enjoy the food here, but will never return after this experience.

We have a takeaway from Sitar about once a month. The food is always very tasty and after ordering over the phone the meal is invariably ready in about 20 minutes. The staff are always pleasent and have a smile for their customers. A clean and well kept establishment.

This place has been around for a long time and I have always loved it. When guests or relatives come over they always want to get a take away from here. They love it! Never had nicer customer service and food. The staff are lovely and attentive. The food is all cooked and prepared from scratch. It's amazing what flavors you will find on the menu!

Nice Nan bread, rice was nice, curry was very average and side orders were OK, we all had the 5hits afterwards and a couple of friends experienced the same thing last week so avoid unless you are constipated and need an urgent bowel movement, give it 20 mins and make sure you get a 12 pack of Andrex from the Londis nearby before you order.

It was a birthday meal so a friend and I ordered the set meal for two for £25.Popadoms, dips, two main curry dishes, two pilau rices, Bombay aloo, naan bread, sheek kabab and two onion bajis. Brilliant quality, very tasty, had it the next day as well and tasted just as good. They give you the option to swap the main curry dishes for any traditional curry on their menu. I swapped a Bhuna for a Dhansak (very nice)100% would recommend.

After previous having food from there I ventured back, but on this occasion it was a buzy Saturday night, food took 30 min to get done, on arrival home, the poppadoms was soggy, the rice was also soggy with water, the naan bread over cooked and dry, and my girlfriend chicken korma which had hardly any chicken, this was such a disappointment after hearing good things about this place, don't think I will visit this place again

The food here was excellent and all freshly cooked. We didn't pre-order so had to wait inside while it was cooked. Even though it was a Tuesday eve a steady amount of customers come to collect as well as the telephone kept ringing to place orders which is a sign of popularity.I would recommend to any one local or visiting

Food collected and was available in good time but it certainly isn't anything spectacular. Usually the takeaway leftovers are happily eaten the next day but these went straight in the bin. Wouldn't try it again the food wasn't very appealing at all

We have had many Indian meals and decided to try one in North Wales. Had a Balti which was excellent and a korma which is sweeter than we are used to (indicated that it is made based on local rastes). We also had mushroom rice which was nice and a naan which was ok as well.The service was good and very friendly. Definitely worth a try.

Had two take away meals from here recently....Both were excellent. Very tasty, non oily, fresh food. Vegetarian dishes were lovely...great variety of vegetables included...something you don't always get from other take aways. Will definitely go again .

3rd take away here very tasty and large portions. Loads of choice on the menu. Highly recommend. Tikka is delicious.

This is our local curry house. It never disappoints. Tasty food, good specials on the menu. My favourite is the chicken farsi but the regular options are all good too. Quick and friendly service.

Not our first visit to the Sitar.. chicken tikka madras for my son chicken tikka dupiaza for me both amazingly spiced and accurate to description. Add a Pilau Rice and chips with two Keema nan and we are full up.. great service nice to see a 5 star scores on the door result.. we will be back highly recommend especially if you are staying in the Lodges or vans at Ogwen Bank.

Just had an amazing takeaway from Sitar, much better than we can get locally in Leicestershire. If we're ever back in the area we'll definitely return.

Whenever I'm in the area I love going to this takeout. Always serves lovely food and the portions are enormous which is definitely a bonus. Friends and family travel miles to come to this place.

This is our local Indian and it's just brill, I've never had a bad dish from them, always ready on time and tasty and consistently spiced. Cannot recommend highly enough

This is my favourite takeaway in Bethesda. The food is such a high quality, and reasonably priced, you can't fault it. Their kormas are so delicious - definitely would recommend Sitar to anybody that fancies high quality Indian food

This is the second time that I have had a take away from Sitar. Excellent food one of the best Indian takeaways I have had. Good choice we chose to drive from Bangor to collect it as we knew it was good. Highly reccomended.

The service was really quick, and the food exceeded my expectation, i had the lamb dupiaza and it wasnt as tender as i would have liked but it was cooked nicely and the flavours of the dish were great.

Ordered for 6 of us I ordered a lamb pathia and ended up with a japatti my wife asked for lamb vindaloo (was written on the carton) but was chicken so I had a bit of others curry instead the food was nice just the order was messed up

Brilliant food here - have been to a lot of Indian takeaways and restaurants, including quite a few in Bangor, Caernarfon, Llanberis area and Sitar is far and away the best. We go once or twice a month and have had quite a lot of the different curries, our favourites are the farsi and shahee murgi curries but it's all really good. Friendly staff, usually takes about half an hour from phoning up, doesn't take cash but there are lots of cash machines in the town.

I get a take - away from here often .. The food is delicious and always leaves me feeling full for a reasonable price , my fave is lamb balti & Korai

we have ordered from here for the last few years when on holiday and we have never once been unsatisfied with the food produced. The portion sizes are nice and large which is just what you are after when you've been out hiking all day. No matter what you order you are sure to get amazing food full of flavour and priced very reasonably.

The quality of the food was very good and the staff were friendly. There's not much around this village in terms of food but we were very happy with our choice.

I have not been to Sitar for many years since moving from the area but a visit to the hospital nearby to visit a sick relative changed that.I remembered back the 10 years since I last visited and how busy it was,so ordered an hour before hand,glad I did,the phones were going mental with orders.Ordered Bombay aloo x 2,chicken tikka pathia,chicken tikka madras,a nann bread and a few poppadoms.I cant describe how good the aloo were but the whole meal was faultless.Ive eaten hundreds of Indian meals in loads of resteraunt and takeaways over the years but the only one to get even near Sitar's quality is Naaz in Nantwich and that's one of the best in the land.Will be making the 70 miles round trip again shortly.UNREAL TOP QUALITY INDIAN FOOD AT ITS VERY VERY BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

We were on holiday in June staying near by in Capel Cruig; We ordered chicken tiki pathia, buttered chicken, a pilau and a mushroom rice & two peswana Nan's. The pathia was the best I have ever had, my partner said the buttered chicken was nice, the Nan's were massive we had plenty left over. We found it clean and tidy. We are always reassured by the five star rating which this place has. We are back up again this year, we will be looking forward to using them again.

For the past two years the new owners have been turning out excellent curries, the new fish menu being a fresh welcome addition along with the five star hygiene rating. A phone call saves a possible long wait. Food cooked better than the previous owners. I eat here at least once a week

Sitar Bethesda says it as it is, cooks it as it is, and ...... the end result is nothing like the insipid so-called "Indian" cooking that you get even in the poshest London restaurants.:) :) :)

I've had numerous takeaways here over the past 6 months and it's simply brilliant. Amazing flavours and plenty if food. I didn't know what real curry tasted like until i ate from here. The food is always hot and service is friendly. Will definitely miss this takeaway when I leave Bethesda next week. The only down point is that this place isn't a restaurant only a takeaway.

Found the place dirty and rough looking. the mossala dish was very expensive although there was a lot in the portion. staff were ok but ha to wait 1 hour for the food.

I have been going here for years. The massala is out of this world. Even though it is quite far for me to travel I can not change where I go the only place that can compete with this place is Spice of Llanberis. But I think Sitar wins!!!

We came to try the takeaway at Bethesda to give us a taste of what is to come to our town of Beaumaris, we couldnt rate it highly enough, we are big fans of true indian food (not westernised) and this was like home cooking at its best. We are so looking forward to having you round the corner.

Me and my partner go to Sitar quite often, I find it's the closest thing to proper curries that I know and love from my family kitchens.I love the puri dishes (I have a bit of a fat tooth) and the pathia that I order pretty often is perfectly balanced on the hot, sweet and sour flavours. All of the dishes I've ordered before now have been generous with the meat, a common complaint with some restaurants, and the keema naans are just lovely.A warning though - if you ask for hot, hot you will get. My partner learned this the hard way after thinking he'd be 'hard' and order something laced with chilli. What he thought were green beans were actually very nice green chilli.

Ok he's a bit economical with the truth when he tells you it'll take 10 minutes, but if you've been before you know this, and you know its gong to taste wonderful.I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal, and I've tried a lot of the menu, my fav is Methi Gosht, which is hidden away on the back page, and his own signature Cheese and Onion naan bread is now a staple side order.There's no fancy decor, just good tasty scran - thanks Abdul !

People travel for miles around to sample their wondeful cuisine, sometimes a telephone order will take an hour and a half because they are so busy!! Expect to wait, but worth the wait, they give you good notice of the time though, and it's always ready when they say it will be. Absolutely LUSH, nice friendly staff too. I believe they are soon to have a revamp :) I could start recommending dishes, but it's all fab!! One my faves is the chicken tikka massala with keema rice and cheese and onion naan (chopped cooked onion in melted cheddar cheese mmm) Lamb dopiaza is gorj too. oh dear am off, made myself hungry now!!! :/Ps BIG portions, 1 rice 1 curry 1 naan would do two, and i'm a BIG eater lol x

Normally stop off here every couple of weeks when I'm in North Wales.The food is great, been through most of the menu now. Favourite of mine has to be chicken jalfrezi with the garlic naan - DELICIOUS!!!
