The food is DE-LI-CIOUS! I can’t wait to go back and try out more plate. The restaurant itself isn’t great but the food was incredible, 5*. We had a great time and the booking wait was worthy. Tips: bring cash & select some items on the blackboard (not just the menu).

Popped in on the of chance and what a wonderful place. Often, consider it but always seemed very busy...now I know why!

I recently dined at Singburi (went there all the way from south London) and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While I had high hopes for a delightful meal, the overall visit was underwhelming. Firstly, the spiciness level of the green Thai curry I ordered was unbearably high, making it difficult to enjoy the dish. Additionally, the excessive oiliness further detracted from the overall taste. It's disappointing when a signature dish falls short of expectations. Moreover, I was surprised to find out that the restaurant only accepts cash payments. In this day and age, it's quite inconvenient and raises concerns for safety. Operating on a cash-only basis in 2023 seems outdated and potentially risky. In an era where digital transactions provide convenience and security, a business insisting on cash payments could attract unnecessary attention and pose safety risks for both customers and staff. I hope the management takes these aspects into consideration and considers updating their payment methods to ensure a safer and more modern dining experience. Improving the consistency of their dishes, especially the signature ones, would also go a long way in enhancing the overall dining experience for customers. I believe with some adjustments, this place has the potential to regain its charm and attract more patrons.

Absolutely delicious! Not just the best Thai food outside of Thailand, maybe as good as any Thai food I’ve had anywhere! We had Som Tam, Thai fishcakes, southern curry, crispy pork special, egg fried rice and Thai broccoli - all absolutely amazing!!! I really hope I get a table there again sometime soon. Never ever pick up the phone calls and they are a bunch of rude people and doesn't understand the value of customer service. Went to get a takeaway and theady was shouting and saying we should have phoned earlier, when they don't even bother to take the calls. We didnt have food as the lady was so rude and unacceptable attitude and behaviour

The food at the restaurant was so-so, but the service was surprisingly poor. I've never been to a restaurant with such bad service. A lady with a notebook was in charge of reservations, and when a friend who couldn't make it this time asked us to book for the next visit, the lady said they were fully booked. I asked, "Are they fully booked for the future? What about in six months or a year?" But the lady just got very angry and said they were fully booked, as if asking a question was wrong. Furthermore, some customers walked in without reservations. I felt like the restaurant owner was selectively treating customers, being welcoming to some but ignoring us. I won't go to this restaurant again.

Had to wait two months until we had a table to dine in at this place. I'll say it was worth it. Nice Thai restaurant in Leytonstone, not a huge amount of seating, though I think that is good as it brings a level of authenticity and good quality as well. There's a standard menu that you get to choose from rice, curry, noodle, soup, sides/starters and then you'll get a specials menu board which they also upload on their Instagram page. Love that the spicy level matches what you get in Asia, though if you can't handle the spice level you can ask it to be a bit more mild with some dishes i.e. the som tum. Couple of things to be aware of. If you like alcohol it is BYOB or wine and they are lovely they'll provide the glasses and bottle opener. It is cash only, and finally, better if you go and book in person.

A not so hidden gem in our neighborhood now thanks to Timeout. BYO. The closest thing we've had to authentic Thai food in the UK. The herbs, veggies and chillies used are the same as the ones you get in Thailand, which give you that unmistakably smack in this face flavour bomb! You can't go wrong ordering from the specials board. The only negative is waiting 3 months for the next booking.

This is definitely the most authentic Thai food I’ve ever eaten, not that I’m an expert in Thai food or anything, but now that London is populated by chain restaurants you can just tell. Great people, great atmosphere, one of few restaurants worth travelling to east London for.

It is so delicious Thai food. I am Thai. When I miss Thai food, I will go to Singburi. All of food that is real Thai taste. It seems like you are eating in Thailand. In my opinion, this restaurant is the best of Thai restaurant in London.(it is hidden gem). Ps. Please book the table before you go! (I booked for 1 month before)There is no alcohol beverage. You need to bring them if you want to drink.

Everything was very flavoursome, the fish and beef dish was outstandingly tasty will def be back, though we did have to book over a month in advance, and we did see people turned away at the door so most likely needs a reservation!

Really didn't get the magic. Starters are way overpriced, my main was charcoaled and quasi inedible with smoke coming out of the kitchen. They don't recycle glass bottles but toss everything on the curb...

Recently moved into the area and had high hopes for this place as I was told “Best Thai food in London”.. Only if you have never been to Thailand would you say this. Food was over cooked and mushy. Would have been great if I have no teeth or was on a liquid diet but sadly I am not. Too much lime and salt in every dish we had. I think it was the owner and her son who served us because only owners would have got away with being so rude to me and my family . Asked her for some recommendations and was told obviously everything is good..okay. When I ask for some water, the son made a walking gesture with his fingers which according to him, meant get it yourself. Other staff where friendly but unfortunately, this couldn’t make up for the food. I’ll try somewhere else….

Top notch, if not the best Thai food I had in London town. Well worth the 2 months wait and immediately booked the next available table during our visit!

It’s probably the best thing you will find at this part of London. The food is nothing short of amazing. The place is quite dodgy, the service is sub standard/borderline rude at times (apart from two smily ladies) but you come here to stuff yourself with the most delicious and well cooked Thai food. Bring your own is another highlight. It almost feels like a tacky bar but just concentrate on the food and forget about everything else. It’s totally worth it! Also very affordable. Good luck with booking a table though…

Back from their winter break, excellent food, service and a warm welcome. Plus, some new treats for 2015, and still top in 2022!!! Update - Still fabulous in 2023 - Yam Pla was the best, but one of my favourites is now off the menu.

Really lived up to expectations. Superb and interesting menu.

The food was super authentic and outstandingly delicious. However, the staff was very rude to the customers. There was one elderly lady who shouted at me and my boyfriend. We just asked her about the rice which was supposed to come with the main dishes. She should have talked to us more politely instead of saying “OMG can you wait!” Bad customer services definitely ruined our entire experiences despite the good and delicate taste of the Thai food.

Work on your customer service lads. You’re popular now but won’t be forever.

by far the best Thai food I've had in London, well worth the trek to Leytonstone if you are not local. we got super lucky and got a cancellation space as a walk in but otherwise its a 2 month wait for reservations but so worth it!

Weird place. I've twice tried to order food for takeaway over the phone as we've never been able to get a table reservation. The first time we called, they said that they had no more takeaway for today and that I should call back at 6pm the next day (Friday) for takeaway collection on Saturday. I did that but was told again that they had no more slots for takeaway and I had to book 2 days in advance for takeaway collection. We were flexible on what days we could collect the food so we asked if we could place an order for their next available slot. They did not let me place an order for the future. I called again next week to place an order 2 days in advance and was told again that they were not taking any takeaway order and to try again but did not let me preorder and gave me no indication of when to call up again. Really odd rules and poor customer service. No food is worth that much trouble.

Nice selection of cakes and good coffee blend for an espresso lover. Service was really friendly and a laid back atmosphere with locals and people working on their laptop or reading. It has a nice outdoor terrace too.

This restaurant is extremely busy with 2 sittings, check out their ever changing specials board on Instagram. Yes it's hard to get through to book but that's as it's so busy, make sure you call on the days when it's open. Noted some negative reviews on fish cakes and red curry - every thai restaurant does that, come here and experiment, thai beef rib green curry, moo krob, larbs, they can ramp up the spice. Been coming here for over 20 years so yes I get good service but when a masterchef finalist says it's one of their faves then it must be good. BYO is a bonus and it did get a Time out winners prize.

Absolutely the best Thai food I’ve had in London! Every single dish was fantastically executed, both creative yet classic and authentic to Thai flavours with that indisputable wok hay. Definitely hard to get a table here, it’s tight inside and you’re not here for the service, but it’s worth it and the food brings out this beautiful cosy vibe in this special little place :).

Honestly the best Thai I've had in London and family run small Thai restaurant. Affordable dishes, amazing authentic flavours and wide variety of menu items. Might be hard to get a booking, but you can try your luck with walk-ins if people don't show up for theirs! It was all delicious, but my mouth still salivates thinking about the crab, razor clams and pork!

Rude Will not be going back soon Took me 8 years to go back last time... It's not as good as the hype, it recently got, glad that infestation seams to have gone now!

Only open on weekends, they do not serve you unless you have a reservation and are fully booked for one month. They might as well be closed if it’s this difficult to eat with them.

Delicious A very authentic experience

As a vegetarian the choices are a little limited but the green curry was delicious. You have to book and it's byob.

It’s hard to get a table but it’s worth the effort. Simple decor, curt service and great food - everything I want from Thai street food. All the dishes are great but we especially enjoyed the duck larb, seafood stir fry, pad thai, beef massaman. The salads are always mind blowingly spicy and delicious 🌶🎇😋

One of the best Thai restaurants in London that I tasted so far. It blended in Asian taste and not western at all! Nowonder it is on top 10 Thai place in London!! It is just 10 minutes drive away from my house! Beware, you have to book in advance as there is no walk in! Limited number of tables that gets filled up. My recommendation is the fish cake, pad Thai and the stir fry seafood. Tom yum flavour wasn’t the best and the green curry although wasn’t cooked too sweet, it meets some of the Asian bud flavour but just too oily. This will be a place to come back for sure in the future.

Food overall is decent and fast, but still a bit confused why the food is so hyped (maybe it has somewhat the old grandma-hidden-gem type of narrative?) as it’s a just standard (as in not westernized) Asian restaurant. The stir fried beef we ordered from the fixed menu was a little over cooked hence too chewy. The glass noodle from day menu was pretty amazing though, it has perfect level of wok hay. Fried pork belly is also a highlight, well balanced flavors. Tom Yum Seafood soup was average, I was able to taste the sea food was not too fresh ( can’t complaint too much on this as we were there at 8:30pm) The staff was helpful and friendly, good and quick service.

Attempted to walk-in once and we were declined and told to book in advance, take away would also require a 1.5hrs wait. Next day, we phoned to book a table two weeks in advance. I gotta say, it’s not a particularly pleasant experience with the phone booking. Fast forward to two weeks, when we walked into the restaurant, we thought they did not book us in for that evening as they couldn’t find our booking. After a bit of miscommunications, we found our booking on their casually handwritten booking log book. What an experience! The food was simply delicious and legit Thai. Order the items on the blackboard, you won’t be disappointed.

Called to book a table, couldn’t get through. Rocked up to do the same but the owner said they were fully booked until end of October. My aunt, her friend and I tried to find somewhere else to eat. We also discussed coming back and booking a table for their next availability. The owner first said that the next time we could book was at the end of October. She then changed her mind and said the next availability wouldn’t be until November and she wasn’t going to take any bookings for that. It was such bad service that I won’t ever be returning regardless of how good the food is. A restaurant we tried to find actually called us back. We traveled to Swasadee on Mare street, Hackney. Food was amazing! My aunts friend is vegetarian; I couldn’t believe the veg menu dedicated to this palette.I’ve loved and worked in south east Asia. The food was excellent; delicious and well balanced plus reasonably priced. Service was quick and superb. We found a little treasure of a place to eat at and will be returning to Swasadee thanks to our poor experience of Singburi. I can’t recommend Swasadee enough for their portion size, price, quality of food and customer service. If you’re in a pickle for a Thai place to eat, try out Swasadee!

Phoned to book a table and told they were fully booked and I said can we come in for a quick dinner at 6pm and they slotted us in. This place fills up quickly so get your order in early as you will have to wait a while if there are large groups in - we waited over an hour for our food but it was worth the wait. They only have a small kitchen and it is all freshly cooked so bring your own booze and relax. Cash only so bring some dosh. Go medium spice as the chillies are spiiiiiiicy. 5 star food but 4 star for the long wait.

My only real complaint was that the famous specials board was hidden in a corner and you had to go looking for it. Instead you were given the regular menu. Also they seemed to forget one of the items we ordered or ran out of it. Definitely go with a trusted cohesive group of friends/ family as you want to max out the experience without hesitation and awkwardness. Maybe appoint one person to do the ordering for the group as you will need to order everything together and between mains and appetisers things quickly become a jumble. The well meaning wait staff aren’t much help tbqh. Mammoth Tap under the Leytonstone High Road overground railway arches is a nice place for a pre-dinner drink.

Easily the best Thai restaurant in London and perhaps the UK. A visit to Singburi is both an educational, and comforting one. The rotating specials on the blackboard present dishes you're unlikely to encounter in any other Thai restaurant in the city. Despite that, simple classics like the moo krob and papaya salad are what keep you coming back time and again to the warm, bustling, and unfussy institution. The service is simple and to the point, just as it is intended to be in South East Asia. Book in advance as walking-in is extremely unlikely and BYOB is a must.

Had two amazing meals here so far, going for a third this evening which we pre booked whilst at the restaurant. A word of advice - don’t try for take-away on a Friday or Saturday night, they get insanely busy and they’re a very small and sassy team, you may wind up being disappointed. Be patient and try calling the restaurant to book on a weds (when they open) and book for a months time! The food really is amazing, it’s BYOB and well, yeah just ignore the people who have tried to get take outs or tables without booking on busy evenings.

You need to book before you go there or they will turn you away even if there are several empty tables. But even booking is a problem. They do not have a website or email and so their only communication is the one landline. But easier said than done. The landline is virtually never answered and so that makes it almost impossible to book. Over the last four weeks I must have called them over 40 times and NEVER ever received any reply. There is no voicemail on the line. The food is quite good value and quite tasty and you can take your own wine which makes it very popular. But be aware that the clientele tend to be rather younger and can get a little happy from their drinks and the place can become very noisy indeed. Being almost full all the time I suppose makes them reluctant to answer the phone. But they should realise that it is all part of the customer service that they should be giving people. I expect that many people just give up on them and don't bother.

This is my favourite London’s restaurant. Not surprised it was rated the best one in Time Out. Incredibly authentic Thai food, beating all central London Thai places. Little gem in Leytonstone, must visit to all foodies.

Very sure of themselves. Dismissed us from the door and recommended takeaway or come back in 30 mins but no reassurance, we went for a drink and came back 30 mins later to be told NO TABLE AND NO TAKEAWAY!! And all they had to say was 'good luck'.

There are two sittings at this lauded cafe. We chose to eat at 2030, the second sitting. This was our first mistake as there were hardly any starters left. We were offered fish cakes which were rubbery and obviously reheated and spring rolls which could have come from Iceland. The woman who served us was so rude, I almost walked straight out. The rest of the food was ok but there is far better elsewhere. And to add insult to injury, we saw other tables being given starters that we’d been denied long after we had ordered!

Ich kann nicht nachvollziehen wie die hohen Bewertungen zustande gekommen sind. Das Essen war höchstens durchschnittlich und war weder lecker noch authentisch. Die Portionen waren auch eher zu klein. Der Kellner war chaotisch, unfreundlich und dreist. Wo ist die Freundlichkeit und das Lächeln was ich aus Thailand gewöhnt bin?!? Ganz klar keine Empfehlung! Mitgebrachten Alkohol kann man dort trinken, man bekommt sogar Gläser.

Out of this world meal at the Thai restaurant that has been missing from my life. Lots of yummy things on the standard menu but the specials board is your friend here. The pick of a very good bunch was the pork belly (Moo Krob; crispy crunchy fatty salty fragrant spicy. V good egg rice too! Very solid pad Thai but felt that was a bit of a familiar choice considering how exciting the menu/specials are. Ignore the derbrain reviews about rude service - it is unfussy and efficient!

They need to offer a better customer experience. I went by 18:30 and asked for a table, they told me that they don’t have anything available because they have a reservation for the existing empty table at 20:30….next i asked if it’s possible to take-away the food, but i got a straigth no as an answer, as they have an order backlog…My first instinct is that they don’t like tourists. It’s a shame because I spent 90min to get there, just to be refused a table or a take-away..

Having read all the reviews about this place we had to give it a go. I was very impressed with the service the food quality the portions and the price. I will be back soon.

Do book before you go as they will turn you away even if tables are vacant!! Takeaway- usually the best dishes are the ones on the board- although these are pricier. Very small portions but the taste makes up for it- so order more than what you would at other restaurants Moo Krob was very good- crispy fried pork neck fat, well seasoned. Pad Talay- Seafood stir fry- Pretty basic, not seasoned or didn’t particularly taste anything flavourful. Jungle curry Red fish- Absolute star, burning spicy but you just keep going back for more. I have had Thai at authentic Thai places in Leicester and Preston- comparable to this. However it is expensive.

2022 update: Nearly 3 years after the below post and sadly still no joy with this restaurant. Again the food is good but continually rude staff and that continues even if trying to order a takeaway. They only offer slots for pick up, so if they have one at 6 and you ask to come at 7 they will tell you they will make and pack the food and let it sit till you get there. Things ran out of the menu before they even opened and they wouldn’t even give me a total for the order. When I told them I had to go to the atm they hung up. A lot of the reviews say they have a friendly experience here so I don’t know why (although perhaps have thoughts) as to why I am on the receiving end of repeatedly overly rude behaviour. No matter the quality of the food doesn’t seem worth being treated in such a manner. —————————————————————— If you’re looking to have a good dining experience here, you need to figure out exactly when they have the quietest times. I’ve been 4 times now, the first 2 were good as it was relatively empty and the others absolutely terrible. If you were to judge the place on food alone I could offer a 4 star review but the service at this place is so terrible that it’s impossible to overlook and enjoy the food. You will have plates thrown at you, napkins flung at your face (literally) and the staff make every attempt to not take orders. They also have bizzare rules on opening times, I have once turned up at 9 on a Friday, where I was told they are closed even though their online times are listed open to 11pm. They perpetually run out of things on the menu and they fail to update their menus or specials’ board. The place has even started to gain a reputation for this uncouth behaviour in their local Leytonstone. I’d say avoid. You’ve got great Thai food on commercial street at som saa, where you’re not treated like dirt. If you must try the food, get a takeaway-but be warned they’re equally as rude on the phone when you order and then also when you collect your takeaway.

Maybe the place is the best and maybe the food is good but the service is the worst I ever seen. We came for the take away and she told us we have to wait for 2 hours to take away. That doesn’t state anywhere on web or Instagram. Also they take only cash I wonder where the tax money go. I would never recommend to go to this place you will be upset.

If you are looking for Thai’s taste, This is one of your answers. However, it depend in what you orders.If this your first time with Thai food, I will recommend to order the menu on the black board. BYOB is my favorite, keep going.

Great food, Poor communication! Been here four times First time, didn't pre-book and got turned away. Second time, booked and the dinner was superb. Thirs time was during post lockdown takeaway only, superb. Forth time, I checked Instagram and was sure it is open to do a takeaway. Arrive only to find it close. They don't have a website, they're super busy and Instagram and telephone are their sole communication channel. I expect better communication on the near future....

Best Thai in London. Was operating as a takeaway since Covid but has now reopened. Fab specials board updated on Instagram regularly. Always something new to try. Been eating here for over 20 years. Byo is fab too. They are extremely busy so do recommend to book.

Always exceptional. Most authentic Thai I’ve had outside of Thailand

I’d be waiting to try Singburi for months. So this was my honest takeaway/collection experience. Firstly if you plan on placing an order be prepared to wait hours and don’t just turn up at the restaurant hoping to order takeaway because they’re busy and may ask you to return hours later to collect your food like I had to do. If you try to call up the restaurant don’t expect them to answer, the phone will continue to ring or say busy, even if you try 20 times. Now on to the food, the clams (stand out dish) were really good, tasty and a decent portion size. The curried ribs were less curry more dry rub. Egg fried rice was very good and so was the morning glory. I liked the spiciness but for Thai food I could definitely handle more but I suppose they tamed it to cater to everyone.

Amazing food cooked with fresh ingredients, so many authentic flavours. My go to is the som tam, egg fried rice, coconut rice, moo krob, sea bass and prawn curry!

Best and most authentic Thai place in London full stop. Run by the friendliest family and lovely smiley staff. So happy to see them opening again after 2 years of lockdown. Everything on the black board (seasonal specials) was delicious, if you see this review I encourage you to go out of your comfort zone and try all the things there!!

Worst service. They are understandably busy. But to give a single word answer over the phone and cutting the line before I finish asking another question, bearing in mind I have been calling over 30 times in the past few hours is simply unacceptable.
