Always the best when we visit here! Not local to Rye but it was my sisters sweet 16th and she begged to have her diner here, last time we visited was a lovely memory for us the staff were brilliant and so kind. This time was even better, always welcoming and the best home cooked italian food! Great atmosphere, will always be our favourite restaurant. Amazing decor too! La migliore scelta della canzone. OMG 🔥🔥🔥 That’s the best Italian food in the whole UK ! All dishes was unbelievably delicious, staff so friendly, owner himself approach every table and asking about food ! That’s all gives you atmosphere like you are in Italian village visiting family restaurant! Highly recommend ❤️

Came for valentines eve. Food was nice and not bad prices then there are the drinks!!! £10 for a white wine a glass I might add is abit on the pricey side!! Told the waiter I had a nut allergy shame they thought my husband also had one when the desserts came over!! Then we get a complimentary chocolate lovely - Ferrero Roche full of nuts!!! It’s a shame been here many times over the years but won’t be returning in a hurry

Lovely, homely food that just makes you want more and to sit and chat to whoever your with or watch others do the same. Staff are always happy and kind and the bill always makes you feel you should have had more. Perfect after a long walk and recommend to anyone

We had a delicious lunch and were made to feel very welcome at Simply Italian. Pork and beef meatballs in a tomato sauce with pasta for me, two different types of pizza for other family members. Reasonable prices and we were all too full to be tempted by dessert - though they looked interesting on the table next to us!

The seafood risotto was good but the atmosphere a bit bland.

Always good food and such a welcoming atmosphere. Staff (thank you Teresa) are so friendly and helpful. A great place to eat when in Rye.

We were in Rye this weekend for my mother in laws 80th birthday, four of us and our rather large Husky/Malamute dog. I had googled to find dog friendly places to eat and found this place. I went on the reviews, which stated that the staff love dogs , so I hoped it would be a relaxing experience with good Italian food. This is exactly what it was. We all loved it, including Siah the dog, who was treated to two handfuls of ham by a very friendly staff member, who may be the owner, I wasn’t sure. All the staff were great, the food plentiful and delicious, so all in all a great experience. Thank you!

If I could give 6 stars I would. I have been going to simply Italian for over 10 years and have so many happy memories at this restaurant. From small family meals to big events this restaurant and there amazing staff and management have catered for us over so many times over the years and we have always come out feeling happy and satisfied with the delicious food and lovely service. I started going there when I was just 4 and I am now 19. I been there many times to celebrate birthday meals or Christmas get togethers. The food is always top quality the decor of the restaurant is beautiful and staff and so friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough especially for a great family meal. As a family we have so many happy memories in this restaurant thank you so much to the simply Italian team for making every visit so special.

Amazing food and nicely done. We ordered two starters calamari and mozzarella wrapper in Parma ham and followed by the Fungi Tagliatelle and Chicken Penne, all dishes are delicious and so flavorous. The pasta are also cooked just right Al dente

What a lovely authentic Italian restaurant. We came here whilst staying in rye and the food was absolutely amazing! Staff so friendly and the atmosphere perfect! Loved the rustic feel. Will definitely be returning.

We had dinner here. It was a lovely restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and good service. My pasta was excellent but the tiramisu was a bit soggy. I would happily eat here again but i would have a different dessert.

The pizzas are delicious, one if the best I have eaten in the UK!!!

Intial rating was four years ago and I'm happy to say that I have no reason to change it. The staff are very friendly and the food is good. If it is in the holiday season, probably best to phone for a reservation as it's packed out at times. Pizzas are excellent but the whole menu is good. Reccomended

Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food - garlic bread as starter, lasagne and tortellini al funghi, vanilla cheesecake and cappuccino.

The staff was really sweet and we enjoyed the meal and time at the restaurant.

We were staying at Jeakes House in Rye and needed to find a restaurant for dinner. We took a look online...saw all the good reviews of Simply Italian and walked down. Great , friendly staff; perfectly cooked food and a lively atmosphere. Just the sort of restaurant we love!

Our favourite place to eat in Rye. Lovely food served by exceptional staff. Maurice who runs it is a star, warm, funny and very professional and Franco the chef is consistently good. Just love their cod dish and seafood spaghetti!

If you are gluten free I would avoid. Partner and I came for dinner (Italian so used to cooking with various gluten free pastas and eating in Italy both north and south). Thought we would try it as it was run by a Napoli family. They charge extra for gluten free bases and gluten free pasta but they just buy it in not freshly made. All of the pasta dishes are generally spaghetti based but the gluten free pasta is just shop bought penne. Really disappointing. We ordered the squid ink special with seafood, supposed to be squid ink dyed spaghetti with the additional charge it came to £20 for that one dish. The gluten free penne arrived with no squid ink. Was super basic and the waiter didn’t explain that the special would arrive made without the main ingredients. Total came to nearly £50 for shop bought penne. We then waited nearly 40mins for the bill. If they could buy in gluten free spaghetti to compliment the dishes they have on the menu I think this would help massively.

I wish I could leave a review of the restaurant. I have been trying to book a table for half an hour now and no one will answer the phone. Needless to say I will be booking elsewhere.

Great food and good service from a family run business in a very old and rustic building on the harbourside. It was very busy and obviously popular with locals as well as tourists like us h family of 4. Well priced compared to other more poncy options in Rye centre.

It tasted the same as in Rome Pizza and pasta were amazing!

Our second visit during the Summer. We forgot to book this time and the staff kindly found us a table despite being packed out. Very happy with the food and service. We will be back.

Delicious authentic Italian food

We came for lunch yesterday and the service, music and overall atmosphere was great. They were very nice and the food was well presented but still simple. The place was nicely decorated, clean etc. Their mushroom tagliatelle was creamy and very light - would recommend, but beware that it is quite a big portion, despite it not looking like it in the photo! Their calzone was also very good, served with a rich, but delicious tomato sauce Both the dishes were sprinkled with some pepper and/or cheese if you wanted it. We also had some desserts - their homemade tiramisu which melts in your mouth and is simply delicious and their homemade flour less chocolate cake which is warm, very smooth, and delicious too! Then, we had some coffees (espressos) that came with a sweet treat each.

I had Bruschetta which was pretty tasteless with unripened tomatoes. My main I asked for a margarita pizza with vegan cheese and it was more cheese than pizza but again tasteless, no basil or seasoning. Service totally exceeded and faultless.

Pizza was good. Only 1 out of the 3 pasta dishes was edible. Lasagne was swimming in sauce, bolognase was cold. Wine was terrible. Wouldn't go back

Great service, Great Food. Lovely place to come with friends and family. Service is attentive and personal. Table of 13 and all food was good and would all come back. Looks great inside and in great location.

We missed Simply Italian since the one closed near us so we were delighted to head down to Rye. Lovely to see Alessio who worked in our favourite spot had moved here and he was as fabulous as ever, as was the food.

Had a great meal here with my family. Food and service were great, and the restaurant had a charming rustic atmosphere.

We ended up at the restaurant after spending around an hour trying to find somewhere suitable for lunch, by which time we were starving. Luckily the food here was excellent and incredibly well priced. There can’t be many other Italian restaurants selling freshly made pizzas for under £10 in the current climate. The restaurant itself was a little scruffy, and there was nobody else eating indoors when we arrived, which was a little off-putting. However, once the food arrived and it started to fill up, we realised we needn’t have worried.

Couldn't recommend this place more. After searching for somewhere to have lunch online, we stumbled upon here, and after reading other positive reviews, we certainly weren't disappointed. Food was amazingly fresh and tasty, venue was clean and scenic, and as for the staff - they made a terrific job singing happy birthday to my wife and also entertaining our six year old!

Fantastic. My wife and I have recently moved to Rye and we love eating out. We’re trying all the pubs and restaurants and Simply Italian hit the spot. Warm welcome, attentive service and the food was beautiful. I’m Gluten intolerant and they catered for my needs with a verity of GF foods on their menu. Simply Italian is the place to go if you want authentic italian food and atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back this weekend.

We decided last minute to eat out so hadn't booked and was so surprised to see how busy they were on a Wednesday evening. They managed to find a table for us and we soon realised why they were so busy! The service was brilliant from all staff and the food was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful restaurant. I couldn’t ask for more really - a beautiful building, great atmosphere, great service, friendly staff, good food at honest prices. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal there. Unfortunately the experience was ruined by the presence of several dogs, inside the restaurant. At the table behind us were 2-4 animals, whining, moving around, and getting in the way of us and unfortunately creating a disgusting odour that put us off the food somewhat. It’s not a large restaurant and I don’t enjoy sharing a romantic meal with someone else’s unwashed pets. A real shame because this disrupted an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Really attentive service and the staff member behind the bar was especially friendly. The food was also excellent, including a sundae that was a manageable size (often they’re too big). Easy to phone and book the table too.

Absolutely best and authentic Italian vibes restaurant!! The staff is so cheerful and engaging that I want to now visit Italy to know more and soak in this kind of hospitality!! Big ✋ to the staff!! Food itself was hot, fresh and delicious...there are quite a few vegetarian options and we loved them all. We ordered their recommended pasta with ricotta filling...jus 😋😋😋😘 Wish they were in London as well! We heartily wanted to tip them and they refused...that my friend is proof on their belief to provide #highest form of customer service# PS: clean restroom on the 1st floor...for day traveller like me!
