Simply Fish in Torbay

Managed to get a table at short notice. Excellent meal and really friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble! Highly recommended!

We spent a couple of days in Brixham and decided to have a meal in this restaurant. Food was good, service was attentive and we enjoyed our evening. I would recommend the puddings, they were fabulous!

We really like Simply Fish but couldn't believe they charged us 50p for the thin slice of orange they put in my wife's j20 which we never asked for, never complained but how much do they make if they do this to everyone, that annoyed we've decided we will never eat in again and instead have a takeaway and yes, don't agree with the 10% surcharge they expect you to pay either.

Our first meal when we stay in Brixham is always take away from Simply fish and last day we treat ourselves to lunch inside. As always well cooked fish - chips are not greasy. When eating in we usually have grilled fish - divine. Roll on next year.

Have had many meals in here when my husband and I come down for the weekend and have never had a problem but today was different. Booked a table for half 5 but arrived at 5:10 and was seated. Food ordered which as always was good but then things took a turn for the worse. More than once someone came to take plates but husband was still eating. Asked if there was any deserts but only 2 so didn’t bother. Another waitress then came up after we had been there for less than an hour to say they had someone waiting to be seated - no one was stood by the door waiting!!!!!! My husband then asked what would have happened if we’d had desert to which the waitress replied ‘we would have moved you to another table’. At NO STAGE were we told there was a time limit on the table when I emailed to book or when we arrived. We certainly WONT be eating there again to be rushed out in less than an hour - SHOCKING!!!!!

Booked a table for 7.30 and back out the door having "eaten" by 8pm. It was worse than eating in MacDonalds. Sat down and within 2 minutes we were asked for our orders. Were told about the specials but not what wasn't available so had to change our order. Food arrived within 5 minutes of the order being placed. Lovely fish but the chips were cold and tasteless. Twice I was asked if we had finished whilst I still had half a plate of food. Won't be going back.

The best fish and chips we had in Brixham however be prepared to wait - sometimes for a long time - and have good hearing as the staff murmur your ticket number out well below the traffic noise!

An absolute jewel of a restaurant down near Brixham Harbour. Some of the largest and tastiest oysters (locally sourced) I've ever eaten, and a fine seafood curry (one of their speciality dishes).Good food, good wine, pleasant surroundings and really friendly staff. I will definitely be back next time I'm down in South Devon.

Arrived about 5:30 and was told by the young lady by the door that I had to wait for another member of staff as she wasn’t allowed to seat people. The “front of house” lady asked if we had booked. When I said no I was told we could have a table for an hour and 15 minutes only. We were then seated but not told of any specials, everyone arriving after us were told about them. When our order was taken she laughed when we asked if we could have garden peas instead of mushy peas. They don’t do them apparently. The fish and scampi was delicious but the chips were really poor, soggy and tasteless. The mushy peas came in a separate pot with a plastic lid, not very environmentally friendly. The tartare sauce was in a glass jar, again, could have been put in a washable ramekin. When the bill arrived there was a 10% service charge. Normally I wouldn’t mind but the attitude of the staff was really poor. Wouldn’t return.

Food was quite nice if a little pricey. Not all the waitresses listed how the specials were cooked or what with, so I wasn't interested in plaice as I didn't know how it was cooked. Service OK but think it's cheeky adding a service charge of 10% so won't be going back.

Visited this establishment for lunch today, appalling and very disappointing service- explained prior to entering the seating area that the visit was to request food for the children specifically and coffee/ beer for us. Once seated having ordered the meal for the children from one waitress, another waitress approached the table and explained that meals for one can not be ordered but rather there is a policy on full meal orders for all individuals. I explained that we had made it clear at point of entry it’s a meal for children only and this had not only been accepted but the order had been placed. I added we will be ordering food to take away later and to clarify what the difference is in ordering a meal or two. I requested to view the policy- instead the waitress spoke to the owner- a meter away who was ‘too busy’ to talk to his customers and continued to reiterate the first point. Too tired with two hungry very young children we had no choice but to leave. Very annoyed as there were several empty seats and it was not so busy to acknowledge a meal but instead the team made us feel so uncomfortable, it’s disgraceful that the establishment favours its profits over a decent customer service. Based in this experience we would not consider revisiting it and would advise others to be aware of the way that simply fish treats it’s customers- it is very concerning. Avoid this place.

We chose the cod and chips and the monkfish curry and they were both amazing, so fresh tasting. We will definitely return.

Didn't have a booking, just called in on the off chance. Best Fish & Chips we've had 👍 Brilliant and fast service. Would recommend to anyone.

We had the Fruits de Mer, and paid a lot more than it was worth. It was a special treat for my husbands birthday but it had been left out for a while before it got to us, as the hot food was no longer hot. Such a shame as we have eaten here in the past and it has always been good. The feedback to the waitress was not productive, she just lamely apologised and carried on. Hopefully this was a one off bad experience and other diners find it positive, which we have done in the past.

Walked in and asked if we could take dog inside. Server was ever so nice. There was 4 of us. 3 cod and chips and 1 fish cakes. The cod was as fresh as you can get. Lovely fish cakes ( recommend by me ). Place was very clean.

Fab food , well priced but be warned the portions are massive , the only issue we had was finding somewhere to park to collect our order but that’s not their fault !

Situated right on the harbour, this place has a traditional chippy takeaway at one end and a very modern bistro type restaurant at the other. The restaurant has a short but interesting seafood men. On another occasion, I might have chosen the monkfish curry. But this was our last lunch at the coast for this trip which meant it just had to be fish & chips. Generous portions of cod, encased in a crisp batter that had none of the oiliness that you often get. Very good chips as well. In fact, this was the best fish & chips we’ve had in a long time. And, it was “down south” for goodness sake.

We went for a nice meal in this lovely place, Simply Fish by the harbour this evening. We ordered starters of Scallops with garlic and herb crust. My partner had for his mains a huge piece of battered cod and I ordered a starter (as my main ) of garlic and chilli prawns with ciabatta Followed by ice cream ( they had run out of vanilla and they went out to get some more so I could have some)Lovely, friendly waitresses and nothing was too much trouble. Great food, nicely cooked and place spotless and spacious. Will be back when we come to Brixham next.

Bought fish and chips for the family and was rather disappointed. The fish tasted good but was not fully cooked at the thickest part. The chips were terrible. They had a strange odour and flavour which was so unpleasant, I could not eat them. Overall a poor choice of chip shop!

Our last day and an early meal here before going home. Very fast service, the fish was lovely and fresh as were the chips.

Had a wonderful family lunch on a day trip to Brixham.Prawn cocktail, squid, mussels, skate, scampi, cod, crab and the star of the show fruits de mer!Thank you Kerry for your fantastic service and hospitality and the Team at Simply Fish for delicious food. Highly recommend for a memorable holiday treat.

We had the Monkfish Curry which was lovely. This was recommended by friends and our hosts at Driftwood. Great Service as the waitress was very knowledgeable on other dishes on the menu.

Excellent cod for me and Excellent mussels for wife with very helpful staff and they have superb service ,customer skills.

The restaurant was well decorated and clean and the staff were welcoming. The food was good but we had paid for the meal to find that 10% had been added to the bill. At no time do I remember seeing this mentioned on any window sign or on the menu. The owner has every right to add whatever service charge they want but I think it is very wrong that the service charge is not made clear either before ordering or making payment. If it is legal for the owner to do business like this it is certainly an unpleasant way to treat customers.

There is nothing like fish and chips at the seaside and this establishment didn't fail to please.Were were seated straight away to a comfotable clean table. Service was very quick and efficient. Our waitress was very pleasnt and friendly. We ordered cod and chips and a portion of mushy peas.Both the cod and chips were snow white they were delicious. The mushy peas had mint in them which just added to the taste experience. Tartare sauce was presented in an individual jar which was ideal as we took the unused jar away with us.We wouldn't hesitate to visit this establishment if ever visiting Brixham again.

We ate at Simply Fish for our first night in Brixham and enjoyed it so much we ate there again the next night, as did the couple sat next to us both nights! Lovely decor and atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. The food both nights was delicious, king prawns, lobster, oysters, all top notch. However I highly recommend the mussels, they were the best I've ever had. The menu isn't extensive, it is as it says on the tin, Simply Fish, however because of this they are able to do what they do to perfection.

Best fish and chips I’ve had for years. Clean tidy and some nice local beers on tap. I had the fish of the day which was haddock and it was spot on. Next time I’ll give the local muscles a go as they look awesome.

After walking around and being turned away for not pre booking at a couple of restaurants we came across simply fish who were very accommodating and offered us a table for 4, the food was great and we would highly recommend this restaurant. It wouldn’t hurt for others in the area to learn form this restaurant’s custom services. Well done and thank you for a lovely meal.

Best mussels I’ve ever had. Anywhere in the world. The service was very friendly, too. Fantastic seaside restaurant with a nice view of the harbour.

Arrived on a busy Saturday night , we did have to wait but they kept us informed and were polite and helpful . I had the Prawns to start lovely large fresh and juicy very tasty .We both had Fish n chips the cod no skin on . Very lite tasty batter the fish was so fresh and very good . Would go back . Thank you to all your hard working staff for a very pleasant evening with fabulous food

Walked in on a bank holiday and booked a meal for four. Extremely busy but staff were friendly and did not hurry us. They still smiled at the end of a busy day. We had specials of the day which were generous in portion and excellent to eat. Thoroughly recommend

I visited here while on holiday with my family, the portions where very small despite the prices being very large. I had recently travelled to Majorca and a meal for the same people with starters and drinks was still cheaper than what I paid here. I ordered a cod meal, scampi meal, 3 children’s meals and a portion of chips for my son who has a severe food allergy, a portion of peas and a portion of curry with a drink each cost us over 80 pounds. The chips where nice and my partners fish was average which is disappointing for a restaurant by the sea. The scampi was full of hot fat which burnt my tongue when I bit into it. Be aware this place DO NOT normally serve just chips!!! You have to have a set meal! I paid less at Rick Steins place in padstow than I did here.My recommendation is to avoid unless you like having your pants pulled down and paying for the privilege.This place are Milking tourists and will regret it when international travel resumes normal service!

Wonderful restaurant. Food is amazing. I had the mussels, best I have ever had and the portions are large. The fish and chips also great. Definitely worth a visit.

When we arrived felt like we was invisible as 4 stafr staff walked by but didn’t acknowledge we were waiting to be seated . I then asked a member of staff for a table and was told to wait for the manager . Got seated . Service was good . Food was good . Then I got the bill and they’d added on a 10% discretionary service charge . Out of principal I Asked for this to be removed as I like to have the option to tip - which I do - not have it enforced on me . The waitress took bill away and a different waitress came back with it . I paid and she then asked what was wrong with the service that I wouldn’t pay the service charge . I felt embarrassed being questioned about it, and said I didn't feel obliged to reply . She then asked me again ! I now felt really embarrassed and other customers were looking over . I shouldn’t have been put in that position . Meal was ruined . I’ve got many takeaways from their before and won’t be back

My grandchildren were begging to come back before we had even left this fantastic restaurant. That’s how good it is. We had scampi for the adults and sausages for the children. Food was delicious - hot and crispy and incredibly fresh. The fish was fresh and juicy. The desserts were to die for: we all had chocolate nut sundaes - wow wow wow! The waitress was so attentive and helpful. Can’t recommend this beautiful restaurant enough.

The place is very clean, the gentleman who I would take to be the owner was very nice and polite and food was very good not too long of a wait to get served overall very niceThe only bugbear I have is that they put 10% discretionary tip already on the bill it’s called a tip because you tip if you want to I personally don’t think it should be added to the bill automaticallySaying that when I mentioned it it was removed without a fuss

I have had a gastic bypass and can't eat a big meal so I asked for a child's portion my husband ordered fish and chip and scallops for starter. They old woman with glasses said no they can't give me a child's portion as I was an adult I explained my reason but she said no so I said ok I will have just chips and have some of my husband fish she came back and said we can't just give u chip s you will have to have them with the starter (shocking) will not be going again its a shame good food lovley young staff too

Rude and confrontational staff, reluctantly shown to an empty table. Food was nice but the staff ruined our meal. When we went to pay for the bill we were charged for meals we hadn’t had so we questioned this, the waitress became very confrontational. The lady behind the bar sorted out the problem and took off the service charge as she had also witnessed how we had been spoken to by the waitress.

The third time visiting this restaurant. Food as always was fantastic. Wonderfully fresh local fish. Oysters were fantastic. Great service. We will be back.

Visited with my 3 teenagers. The food was great, curry sauce and mushy peas amazing. But it’s super pricey! Double the bill for same food/experience at Brixham Fish and Chips (£45 v. £98). The waiting staff were really friendly who served us. But I got asked twice (while I was finishing my £9.50 glass of wine) if I was ok and could they get anything else - sounds great but it was obvious we were being asked to leave as there was a queue at the door. We’d also had to book but were in and out in an hour. We’d tried to get in the day before with no booking, got told to come back when they opened then, after going home to get ready, told they were full! So the downgraded score is the price, unclear communication on booking and, mostly, for feeling rushed.

The restaurant sit down part is simply cashing in on the fish and Brixham experience. If you want to pay absolutely top notch prices for perfectly average food then this is your place. The takeaway food is good even if run by youngsters that really would prefer not to be dealing with you. It's unfortunate but I have noticed that all round people and businesses are cashing in on the pandemic as we all try to get away and enjoy a little normality. Greece next year for us, the charming English getaways are slowly becoming cheap theme park whispers of what they once were.

I only ordered the fish cakes and sat outside to eat them, but this was a very enjoyable experience. Lovely crunch to the breadcrumbs, and tasty cod (and haddock) filling. The filling was a little on the dry side, but not to the detriment of taste. The simple things! Very well done

We booked a week before arriving in Brixham as we expected it to be busy. The lobster was lovely as was the monkfish curry. We went on 2 different occasions while in Brixham and had excellent meals and service both times.Jill and her team were brilliant thank you.

Simply Fish has grown since my last visit but there is no impact on quality and service. The standards are high offering a great menu selection with additional specials if you want more than good old fish n chips. Great service and friendly staff.

We were more than pleasant surprised with the quality of the food here. There are A LOT of restaurants in Brixham but we struggled to get it any of the ones we tried. With most restaurants turning you away on the door stating they are fully booked (without looking to see if any reservations haven’t turned up) Whereas simply fish did say they were fully booked but would try and shift around a bit and they managed to get us in. We really appreciated the effort and the food was great! Fresh and tasty fish with a generous and delicious side of curry sauce & mushy peas. Arrived very promptly :-)

Best fish and chips ever - best view and great service. We sat on the benches opposite the harbour. ( so lucky to get this table ) Table service between 12-3 . Service was friendly , fish and chips amazing , best mushy peas ( enough to share ) best curry sauce ( enough to share ) and a really suitable sized children’s meal. My daughter finished the lot. No where else like this and situated just in the middle of the harbour looking out to sea.

Disappointing food. Starters were ok, (prawns & scallops). We had the mussels for the main but very disappointing. We each returned 12 mussels which didn’t open. Tried prising them open but couldn’t. Seems to me they were old mussels and 25% or more dead before they were cooked. Not fresh and no excuse as restaurant being on the harbour side. Staff very nice but had no idea how to handle my complaint about the food. We paid up & left. Would not return & cannot recommend.

Visited today for the first time the service was fabulous, all the specials were explained. We chose the fresh haddock it came promptly and was FABULOUS the chips were fresh cooked and pipeing hot, I complemented mine with a draught hunts cider. Would highly recommend

Definitely overrated and certainly overpriced and the added surcharge, what a cheek! I wonder how many visitors have also left a tip? Food was average and I’ve had better for the price. The service was excellent and the location is beautiful so they probably rely on these to get the people in. We loved Brixham and intend to go back but we will be avoiding this chippy.

Went there the other night and thought it was expensive as it wasn’t the best fish and chips I’ve had by far, , others had scampi which wasn’t much better. My grandson who usually loves his fish wouldn’t even eat his. They put a 7% surcharge on the bill which we didn’t notice until after we’d paid which we were really annoyed at.

We can simply say it was the best fish and chips we have ever eaten . Book early on busy times it’s so popular you can’t get in just turning up .

Cod, chips and curry sauce were all very nice. However, we ordered the ‘chicken bites’ as they are named on the menu. It states that you only get 5 for a price of around £5.25 (can’t remember the exact amount but thereabouts) so I assumed we would maybe be getting home made chunks of real chicken in batter or something similar. Alas, we opened the box to 5 frozen chicken nuggets. Unbelievably for the price, and worse completely covered in salt. Our chips hadn’t been salted as we requested so I assume they somehow salted the wrong box? I can’t fathom how they can justify that price for 5 nuggets on their own, no chips or drink with it for that price.

We sat outside and had lovely fish and chips with drinks. However when we decided to eat in the restaurant there was a service charge added which we did not notice prior to sitting down. So for bringing to the table 4 drinks and 4 plates of food it was an additional £7.00!!! Given the childrens meal was expensive for the size of it and given the service charge we wont be visiting again!!

We managed to book a table last minute here. The service was generally good although it may help if staff have a bit more info on the fish of the day and how they are cooked. When I asked the guy, he said haddock and its fried but didn't know what the whole fish was or how these were cooked which is a just a small area for re-training. Aside from that, the food was perfect. Delicious bream, mussels, oysters. Well presented and well cooked. The restaurant is in a lovely location overlooking the harbour. Prices a touch on the expensive side but you get what you pay for so we were happy to pay a bit more to receive a good meal. We would definitely return.

I came in as a group of 9 people to be greeted wity lovely service from the front of house staff, right from the get go, we were asked promptly about drinks which came fast and then for our mains as well. They managed to accommodate all of our wants for food with slight alterations to what was shown on the menu. The food then came very fast which was supprising because of our large group. The food was all superb quality as well as portion sizes, my muscles (my first time having muscles) were divine in there sauce. The desserts were also of a large size and super tasty. Would deferniately come again. ;)

We visited this restaurant while in Brixham and found it to be very overpriced for pretty standard fish and chips. The food was ok, nothing exceptional. The same batter as anywhere else and chips are pretty much chips. I appreciate they have running costs etc, but then so do all other businesses, so that is not an excuse to over charge your punters. Cod and chips at £14.95 for a small cod is extortionate in my opinion. We had a beer, a cup of tea, 2 cod and chips a buttered roll and a curry sauce and that was nearly £45. I am not tight but do like good service and value for money, and unfortunately there was very little interaction or attention with the staff. We did not feel this was value for money at all. We tried other fish restaurants during our stay in Brixham that were far more reasonably priced and the food was just as good if not better, and much better value for money.

Very happy we could book a table here on a busy Friday evening. The menu was enticing & we had already pre-ordered the seafood platter for 2 - to be shared by mw wife & 2 x younger daughters. We over - ordered & ended up with a veritable feast of oysters, starters & also a lobster main. The service was top notch & very friendly. It was a little expensive - but great quality & we all felt the best dinner of our holiday, which did have some lovely meals during our week. We could not finish everything - but had a take-away box & enjoyed for lunch the following day on our boat.

We ordered take away, two portions grilled large haddock + chips. The 'jumbo' sized haddock fillets both turned out to be comprised of two small fish compressed together, with the upper fish having its skin removed to help cement the illusion of one large fish. A large chunky fish is different from two small fish, so the menu description is - to put it kindly - not accurate. Someone ordering the fried battered version (after a few pints) may not notice. There's a lot of good will at the sea-side, folks on holiday not wanting to spoil the good vibes by complaining, so I guess they get away with this more than they should. We won't be going back.

Very busy had to come back for our table as we didn't book. Arrived back at appointed time, table ready, extreamly friendly girl seated us and took our order after explaining the specials. My partner had cod and chips with curry sauce I had the sea bream special. The fish was cooked to perfection. awesome. Ste staff were extreamly busy but nothing was too much trouble. All had beautiful smiles and we're very efficient. I honestly can not find fault.

Excellent restaurant in a great location with a fabulous menu. Dined here several times whilst we were on holiday and hope to return some day! Great food and excellent service too. Definitely recommend dining here when in Brixham!

Had Fish n Chips outside on the terrace. Boyfriend said the best he ever had, Tasted very fresh. White wine was lovely too. Staff were lovely.

Booked a table a week before we went to Brixham as we expected it to be very busy. We are so glad we did. The service was amazing and the food fantastic. They work so hard and the food arrived hot and quick. They even gave the baby some orange to eat while the dinner was being cooked which stopped him getting bored. We will definitely return

Amazing food, lovely polite smiling staff and so helpful! I had visited brixham a few times while working that way and my partner come to visit for the weekend, we managed to get a last min booking here and we see the fish platter but it needed 24hours booking the two ladies who served us can’t remember names( one dark long hair the other dark blonde with glasses) was so helpful and managed to arrange last min for us to have this and it did not let us down! So much on it and was two tasteful and fresh! We paid and had a drink outside in the bar area on the harbour and they had a lovely singer! Will defo go back again!

Five stars all round! Truly the most sumptuous calamari, scallops, lobster and skate we have ever had cooked for us. Flavours, textures, portions of high, high standard. And the welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable service was the best in Brixham! We wish we’d have booked there every night but we gave other establishments a visit too after having to book weeks in advance.Simply Fish was the absolute best of the lot and we long to return!

I would have loved to write a review for this restaurant, unfortunately I can’t! We visited Brixham last Sunday, a family of six, looking for a fish lunch. Saw this restaurant, it looked nice and had plenty of free tables, so thought we’d go in. Standing at the door were three waitresses, who were , it seemed, there to allocate tables. One was leaning over the counter, chatting to the other two. We asked if we could get a table and after quick chat together, we were advised that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate us. When we asked why, as there was clearly space, we were told that they couldn’t guarantee that the chef could serve six meals at the same time??? Really???? So we left, in search of lunch elsewhere. Thankfully across the road was the Brixham Fish Shop, whose lovely staff welcomed all six of us with open arms and we had a lovely lunch! My advice? Go there!

food was nice although one was undercooked and had to be returned. I feel the charge of £36.47 for cod chips and peas. twice one orange drink and one glass of tap water is very difficult to justify. I have read some of the owners responses to negative feedback. one being that he has fed many local people for free during the pandemic. This is very honourable but i feel that he should not ask his customers to bear the cost of this magnanimous gesture .I appreciate extra cleaning is required but given the average cost of fish and chips i still feel his margins are very high. my rating reflects the price not the food

Went with my wife and mum for lunch.Mum and I both had the skate wing with capers which was super fresh and very moist.My Wife had the the Hake again a super mealThe only thing that let it down was water- I had a beer and asked for a jug of tap water, I could have glass but if I had the bottle i’d Be charged for it- for tap water!,Come on at £77 for 3 people for lunch charging for tap water is a bit muchThe service was first rate , the food excellent the staff friendly.

Compared to other seafood restaurants, this was higher priced but no better quality. the wine was extraordinarily expensive.

Just had lunch and could’ve stayed all afternoon. Devon rocks lager with pan fried cuttlefish, oysters, mussels and lobster. Some of the freshest fish we’ve ever eaten. Simple ingredients, cooked to perfection, amazing service. Went to Brixham for fresh fish and enjoyed every mouthful. Definitely recommend.

Managed to get in tonight at last. Worth the wait. Battered cod & chips, with a jar of tartare sauce. Fresh, hot and so tasty. A lovely last meal before travelling home tomorrow.

While on holiday we went to Simply Fish. I thought it looked like a nice traditional fish and chip restaurant which it is but have other items on the menu. In the end I ordered the Monkfish & Prawn curry and my wife ordered the spaghetti with scallops in a creamy white wine and garlic sauce. Have to say my curry was amazing - so good and probably the best curry I’ve ever had! The sauce was tasty but not hot and it never overpowered the taste of the fish and prawns. My wife’s spaghetti was also amazing, I would definitely order both dishes again and have booked again during the holiday as it was that good.

Been looking forward to visiting here as I follow them on Instagram so went today, asked the owner if he was doing Hake in batter today for takeaway and he replied that he would be able to accommodate that which I thought in itself was great, however on returning back to the shop at 12 and trying to order the Hake the young lad behind the counter informed me that he couldn't serve me Hake so I pointed out to him that the owner said he could do it and could he ask him, he just looked at the men preparing the fish and they just said Cod or Haddock mate, so I went for the Cod, when the young man brought out the Cod I asked him if we could sit down the road in there outdoor seating area to which he said yeah sure no worries so off we popped and sat down opened up our boxes about to order some drinks to only be told to leave as it's table service only I explained we where just about to order drinks, I then explained that the young man said I could sit there but she said she'd then have to speak to the manager, by now I'd had enough if they didn't want anymore of my money I'd go elsewhere.Now onto the food well what a disappointment, having really looked forward to eating here I wish I hadn't bothered regardless of the absolute chaos prior to me actually eating it if the food was good then that's all I came for but unfortunately the batter was crispy on the top but absolutely soaked with grease on the bottom, and the chips where very greasy and some even undercooked which is a shame as the fish inside the batter was actually very nice to nice to feed the seagulls with as that's what I did with the rest even my dog didn't eat a chip.

Spacious airy restaurant, fresh fish, beautifully cooked. Varied menu choice and daily specials. Takeaway option too. Dog friendly. Reasonably priced. Had Oysters, curry, catch of the day and a special. Delicious food. Friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Stopped here as we wandered around the pretty harbour. There is plenty of obvious competition but this seemed to be a decent bet.We popped in, ordered and nothing was too much trouble.Food was pleasant and good value for money, i cant say its the best fish and chips i've ever had but its was still decent,

We booked here for an evening meal and was told of the catch of the day. I chose lemon sole which was food but my husband wanted seabass which was not available so chose the seafood curry but was told he could have the curry but they had no rice which I couldn't understand surely they could have rice in stock as it is easily available. My husband was under pressure to chose another alternative and decided on the skate and was very disappointed Won't return

We had evening meal hear really did not enjoy it,I think it is over rated and definitely over priced for what you get !!! We ordered cod and chips and homemade crab cakes which looked like they had just been plonked on the chips...nothing to write home about...most expensive sides like mushy peas!!to top it all 10% on top, I have to say worst value meal in brixham....

This always seems to be a popular place for takeaway fish and chips and on two holiday trips to Brixham it has not let us down. Friendly efficient service, in spite of the rigours of Covid regulations. Delicious, reasonably priced fish and chips (huge portions)

Stylish decor, delicious food and friendly and efficient staff. This restaurant was very well organised but with a relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend eating here either inside or takeaway. Will return the next time I'm in Brixham.

It’s hard to get bad fish round here and this place was no different. Superb, melt in the mouth fish but what makes this place stand out is the batter and the lovely chips. Highly recommend.

very over rated, nothing special. Fish was dry under the batter, and would have expected bigger portions for the price. Wasn't up for paying service charge either but partner had already paid. Wont return here.

Visited takeaway in the early evening. Cod n chips plus mushy peas. Tasteless, very dry, especially the fish. The batter was soggy and not crispy. Would not visit again. £20 waisted.

Found that a few fish and chip shops were closed at 6pm on a Saturday. Excellent fish and chips at a reasonable price. Not the cheapest around but you get what you pay for. Staff very efficient I wouldn’t go elsewhere now. Highly recommended.

Great service by a team who know what they are doing, and do it well. Food's good too, if a little expensive, but not offensively so.

After being turned away from another restaurant in the area we came across Simply fish, we saw one table outside opposite the restaurant and luckily they fit us in.There was a lot of confusion with orders and drinks not arriving for some tables but others had got theirs, everyone was happy and relaxed so this really wasn’t a big issue, the girls were doing their best and were friendly and happy to help. We ordered haddock and chips plus 2 curry sauces, our drink arrived after a few minutes. All good. We really enjoyed the food and the service from the young lady on Thursday evening, she was friendly and helpful. I feel this is important to mention, I read a review from someone call PCK who has totally got it wrong calling the staff and restaurant racist over upfront payments, our payment was taken before we got our food and drinks just like everyone else’s around us. I found the review to be offensive and should be removed from Tripadvisor!

Visited this restaurant for first time and enjoyed a delicious meal. Daughter enjoyed mussels and I had fish and chips, but will definitely visit again to sample the extensive fish menu. Staff were very friendly and attentive. It was worth waiting a few minutes for a table in order to experience a meal at this popular restaurant.

If the number of customers is any indication of the high standards of Simply Fish, then it should be Premier League. The seating is fairly tight, but the fish and chip were superb, with very generous portions.

I don’t usually leave reviews for places but I felt I had to with Simply Fish. First of all the food was amazing , the fish and chips were probably the best I’ve ever had from anywhere. The staff we’re also so polite and new what they was doing. Some places they employ young staff and they just don’t have a clue, but here they were excellent.

Came here as all restaurants we looked at were fully booked, we were not disappointed very nice food not rushed and nice experience.I had the scallops starter wife had king prawns for main I chose crab salad my wife the mussels all looked good and tasted lovely would definitely recommend this place .

We went for lunch today, oysters and fish and chips. The oysters were the best my partner had (this was my first) the fish batter was light and crispy. The service were excellent. Would highly recommend

We had take away Fish and Chips from here and they were very helpful with our Gluten Free requirements, definitely worth a try.

We have been coming to Brixham for 10 years on our holidays and we always call here at least once in the fortnight every year . We all had fish , chips & peas and it was absolutely fantastic again ,the staff are great the owner was brilliant . I would highly recommend Simply Fish To anyone wanting the best fish in Brixham

Having been an avid viewer of the documentary on Brixham had to visit whilst in the area . Take away from here and sat outside in the sun chilling out.Excellent food and quite reasonable price.

Just Fabulous Monster Turbot, excellent service. Ceri was looking after us & nothing was too much trouble. The fish was just amazing!!

Ordered fish and chips for our family of 5. Collected the food and when we came home we realised 3/5 portions of chips were missing. We ordered the battered king prawns but instead received king prawns in a garlic and herb sauce. When we called to question this we received no apology and for our issue to be brushed off. We were told apparently the battered king prawns were no longer sold but the website hadn’t been updated; it would of been nice to have been informed of this at the time of the order being placed. When we came to collect the rest of the missing items they were completely unaware that we had called and then had to wait whilst they cooked the missing items from fresh. The food was very tasty when we finally got around to eating it, shame it was cold by the time we had everything home.

We had to pay before we even received our drink let alone our meal we also had to pay a 10 percent ser charge before we were even served....and weirdly couldn't wait to take our recipt away..There were 4 others tables who didn't have to pay before there meals .they expressed to us how strange it was for us to have too...aprently they have had people leave without paying before....why did they think we would?(we were the only black couple)The food was disgusting and so dry..my daughter had sosages I wouldn't even feed to a dog they were the cheapest you could get same with the burger charged at a premium price. I am contacting my bank to make a claim against this restraunt we was offerd only a dessert after this ordeal.I left in tears that in this day and age you get discriminated against because of your skin...Disgusting behaviour....disgusting food Do not visit...

Lovely meal. Scallop Gratin followed by Curry. Could not have been better. Service was quick and friendly.
