Simla brasserie in Neath Port Talbot

Took my partner there for his birthday with friends. Meal was outstanding and the service was Top rate. Our friends of over 40 years had never eaten an Indian but demolished the lot. Highly recommended.

Went here for a meal this evening, it was very quiet, initially only us 2 but another 2 came in. The service was wonderful, yes it was quiet, but you could tell that the way you were treated was not just because it was quiet. The food was very very good, and we will not hesitate to return. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Very welcoming person which is so important in my eyes. Undergoing a refurb so the restaurant looks bare, however my food was spot on . Decent chicken tikka . I suspect they have a proper tandoor? I had a KP purée which was outstanding with a sprinkling of green chilli

Service was cold and no welcome, atmosphere was dead quiet, no food on display, when food came out it was all bland. Would not go there again....

We went for dinner at about 6:30 Friday August23rd. We were greated by Raj who took us to a lovely table by the windows. The restaurant was clean and Raj was a great host and waiter. The menu was brilliant with a great variety of foods to order or set meals, and when the food came it was absolutely delicious. The prices were better than we expected offering great value for money. We will be returning soon.

We arrived just after 7.00pm and were the only customers - always a worry. However within 30 minutes the restaurant filled quite quickly. A decent menu at reasonable prices and, travelling from West Yorkshire where there is an abundance of Indian Restaurants, we are fairly clued up on what to expect. We settled on the set menu for 2 with a couple of Cobra's to wash it down. The food was excellent and the service was as good as the food. We took the easy option on menu choice and it transpired to be a really good choice. Well done and you will see us again.

I reviewed this Brasserie after an unfortunate visit quite some time ago where we gave up waiting for food as we waited over an hour for our order to be taken, however, I tried it again just recently and I'm glad I did. I have been back quite a few times since over the last few months. Food has always been good and the service once again seems to be up to scratch. I am now a firm regular again! If you haven't tried it it really is worth a go.

fresh and local food. very colorful and fresh. delicious classical in style so may not be to all tastes.

Pre ordered in a big group and food still took 2 hours to turn up, some people had paid when others hadn’t even had their food. No apologies for the wait, waiter was very rude and threw food on to the table. Food was ok but was still hungry leaving after waiting such a long time in the first place. Never coming here again!

Group of 40 pre-order meals. Arrived at 10pm still not served by midnight!! Shocking service, attitude and drink prices. Will not be visiting again!

Use to go this restaurant a lot quite a few years ago, food and service was good, went last night, service was bad, attitude was awful, waited ages for food. Was not worth the wait, food was awful, will not go again

We arrived about 5.40 as opening hours stated on here were 5.30 but they don’t open till 6.00 now but as it was very wet outside the lovely gentleman let us in early. The service from start to finish was excellent and the food did not disappoint. We started with onion pakora and chicken tikka and both dishes were well presented and very tasty. For our mains we had lamb Bhuna and vegetable curry and they were both very nice. The prices are good too. Overall an excellent Indian restaurant. Decor was nice too and the lighting.

Neath is not exactly a gastronome's paradise and even more so on a Monday evening, when many restaurants are shut. We stumbled across Simla in Alfred Street, and the initial signs were not good. The fire exit through which we entered had been wedged open by another party of diners, who gave us some strange looks as we came in. Nevertheless, the service and food turned out to be good. I have popadoms with various chutneys before the meal, which included a very tasty coconut based one which I hadn't experienced before. My prawn biryani with poori bread was good, as was the bottle of chilled Mateus Rose to drink. Cost was just over £40 for two. It was cash only as their card machine was broken, much to the disappointment of the other party of diners !

Visited with my partner and as we entered there was a sign on the door stating cash only machine for card payment broke I queried this with the manager and was rudely told to read the sign, it was late on a Saturday evening and there was only one other couple there which I thought odd!! Food arrived and was good however restaurant let down by staffs lack of people skills

We love this restaurnat and regularly get our Saturday takeaway from her. Favourites are chicken tikka, Lamb Bhuna, mushroom rice, aloo gobi and nan breads. Good value too

I haven’t visited here in a few years and it’s still as great as it always has been. Definitely need to visit more.

Visited with family for a last minute Friday night treat.

This is my second visit in two years. How do I know that? Because the last review of this place was by me in November 2015.

A nice family run shop and the food tasted really good. i had the Lamb Bhuna with half rice and chips. it was spot on. Would definitely recomend

Called in the simla around 8.00pm on the 29/10/17.

We were sat down and it took 20 minutes for someone to take a drinks order and a further 15 minutes to get the drinks. After an hour and a half all we had had was a paupadom each! We paid for the drinks an paupadom and left in the end. No appilogies or reassurances from anyone that we would not be waiting much longer. Waiter just thrust the bill on to our table. Really did not care!

Great welcoming by the staff , staff were excellent , food menu was good , when the food arrived it was piping hot , staff didn't hover around your table which was good , very satisfying meal and the evening went well , worth a visit.

Tuvimos una comida fantástica aquí esta noche. Gran selección de comida en el menú, y a un precio razonable. Hemos tenido llevar desde aquí muy a menudo a lo largo de los años y ha sido siempre el mejor alrededor. El cenar en experiencia fue maravillosa, la fuente de agua en el centro del restaurante crea un ambiente relajante (en lugar de hacer que quieras wee) y el personal era muy servicial y amable. La comida era excelente. Ambos tuvimos pollo y era tan sabrosa, las salsas estaban llenos de sabor y el pan Naan de fuera de este mundo! Nuestros ojos eran demasiado grandes para el vientre, así que nos dieron para llevar cajas. Sin duda, os recomiendo que la probéis!

Vaya aquí muy a menudo con mi pareja y la comida y el servicio nunca falla el personal es encantador, personalmente yo diría que uno de los mejores indios sobre altamente 😋

We were having a Friday evening party with friends and we ordered a takeaway from the Simla, we always have good service and good potions, on this occasion they put our 3 takeaways in the same box and caused confusion when we got back home because some of the packets were not labelled to say what was the contents inside, but never mind we all tasted the different potions, everyone enjoyed Their meals.

Me encanta mi curry, y este fue un buen hallazgo. Tienen una amplia variedad de menús, algo para todos los gustos. Platos en el menú que no ves muy a menudo. Muy sabrosa.

Visited during the week for a meal. Was very pleased with the service and food. Couldn't fault much at all. Would definitely recommend after visiting other Indian restaurants in the area.

This restaurant is a real throw back to the 1980's. It seriously needs updating and the music needs to be more upbeat. That said, the staff were polite and professional and the food delicious, apart from my boyfriends 'French fries' which were actually big fat oven chips. All in all an average Indian experience

Nice food bit it took too long for it to get served. Was seated at 5.30 and left at 8.00. Friendly staff.

Called last night for a takeaway for me and the wife, after work. I had a chicken Madras and my wife had a chicken Jalfrezi. Both were really good. If I had to be picky my paratha wasn't the best, but everything else was spot on. The best takeaway I have had in Neath for a long while.

Great service. Well worth visiting this place. Perfect for groups of friends or just couples. I highly recommend it

My wife and I were having a quite Saturday night out with our friends and we called in this Indian restaurant, the weather outside was very cold and as we took our seats the staff brought a heater closer to our table to warm us up, the waiter brought us drinks very quickly and took our meal order, the poppadoms and dips came very quickly and after about 15-minutes we had our meals, we had very nice tasty food and large portions, everyone enjoyed the food that was served. No complaints.

Myself and my starving fiance visited this pleasant restaurant doesn't look much from outside but inside we were pleasantly surprised. We were seated by the waiter who was very nice guy very pleasant we ordered starters onion bajhee which were delious very fresh and tasty .Main meal was very nice and hot which is always a winner especially with my man.Will be returning again in the near future so if u fancy a curry try simla u won't be disappointed.

Having driven past this place a few times we decided to try it. And I can say it was the best curry I have had in a good while. Good sized tasty portions and a very friendly waiter. Highly recommended with no hidden surprises like some other Indian restaurants I could mention.

Absolutely disgusted by the service waiters were rude ordered food at half 10 had starter at half 12 and was cold and very poor quality more sauce than meat and when leaving a few homophobic coments were made to members of the party saying we "don't want your custom here" there plenty of better Indian cuisine restaurants in Neath with impeccable service and food simla is bottom of the pile

Horrible service, horrible people. We were treated rudely even after waiting over 2 hours for our food. NEVER coming back, and will be sharing our awful experience with everyone. Thanks.

Brilliant service, welcoming staff, tasty dishes, good potion sizes, lovely restaurant decoration. Love it! I don't go to any other Indian restaurants in Neath, as none beat it. Best in town.

I have been visiting this Resturant for years. My children, now grown up used to love this monthly treat. The curry is still the best in Neath. We start with popadoms and chutney tray. Then methi lamb and chicken tikka masala. Suspense for pudding. Lovely rich wine, great service. Can't wait to go back. !!

Called here on a monday evening ,the place was quiet being it was only early i expect.The waiters were very nice guys and i recived a warm welcome .I had some popperdoms and dips while i picked what i fancied having , The menu is large with traditional curries to house and chef specials .The waiter was happy to discuss the various choices i made. Food arrived freshly cooked and had extremely wonderful flavours.A pleasent dining experience thanks simla .

Called into this restaurant last night after a few drinks...The place was very quiet but it was 11.30pm....The service we received was first class and the food was cooked fresh and was piping hot and very tasty and was reasonably priced. The place could do with a bit of brightening up with a some decorating but all in all it was very enjoyable.

This lace is a very good Indian-style restaurant. The food was freshly prepared and arrived well presented. Staff were attentive and pleasant. A nice place.

Having eaten here for many years I can recommend this restaurant for a tasty, well cooked meal. There is such a lot to choose from and it can be cooked to your choosing, whether you prefer it hotter or not! The food is always first class.

went to the simla last night with my wife son and daughter in law,its been a long time since we were there but they still remember us and asked where we had been and greeted us like old friends its still pretty much as we remember the same old ambiance and cosy feeling of somewhere you know the food was outstanding and the service second to none so all in all nothing has change not even a facelift it could do with a little brightening up but that will not stop us returning only not so long next time the food is to good to miss

We haven't been here for some time and wish we hadn't bothered. We visited at about 8pm on Saturday evening. There were only two of us. The service was so unbelievably slow and as for Customer Service .....well, there just wasn't any. The food was also disappointing. I ordered a Chicken Shashlik - hardly any chicken. My husband ordered a Balti - this resembled slurry and tasted just as bad according to him. Very disappointed

We have been eating at this restaurant for many years,mostly as a take away,but every few months we eat "IN" as my husband enjoys the Tandorri king prawns which don't travel well as a take out .the food this time was exceptional,the service as usual was friendly & helpful,This was Valentines evening So Red heart shaped balloons were decorating the room. i highly recommend this resturant ,give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Fitted us un last min on NYE. The food was tasty & good selection of drinks. The stand out thing for me was the service we received..very friendly & helpful with great sense of humor..just what we wanted after a few drinks :-)

I have never, ever had a bad meal here, we have a takeaway at least once a month and never fails to disappoint. Restaurant service is also A Star and staff are so friendly. Give it a try, can assure you will not be disappointed.

Very good Indian meal, it was fairly empty as we were early going for dinner, but because of this the service was second to none.

Visited this restaurant for the first time last night, having read good reviews. We weren't disappointed, the food was really tasty and the service was excellent, Friendly without being intrusive. The member of staff who looked after us was very knowledgeable about the food and the preparation, which is great for vegetarians like us.The range and options from the menu was also very good.We'll definitely be going back.

I love Simla, I tend to only go 3 maybe 4 times a year as I've moved nearly 40 mins away but whenever I want an Indian I always travel this far to go here! Staff always recognises us and we always have a warm welcome. Amazing food, great atmosphere and a free after right after your meal, what more could you want?

This was the 1st time we had been to the Simla in a very long time, and we were not disappointed, the service was excellent and both our meals were superb,.Again,the presentation and the taste of my lamb balti and my wife's lamb saag was quite exquisite.. Friends had been raving about this place for ages and now we know why. It was by far one of the best curries we have had in a very long time.

Superb food. Served fresh and hot and the service was excellent. The manager and staff were very friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoy regular visits to this restaurant and th4e standards have always been high.

Visited Simla with a friend after a night out. The restaurant was very busy but the friendly staff accommodated us within minutes of our arrival.Extremely friendly and attentive staff and delicious food. Really don't understand why I've never visited in the past. I will be coming back very soon.

Have had many meals in the "Simla" and have always thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere is always relaxed and the staff are excellent. I would never consider anywhere else in Neath if you want a good curry.

Been using this restaurant for many years. Have never had a bad meal. Everything cooked to perfection, every single time!!! The lamb dishes are simply delicious, bearing in mind, lamb can be fatty, this is never the case at The Simla. ALWAYS Tender & Tasty!! Keep up the good work Abdul!! xx
