Shunters Chip Shop and Smoke House in Antrim

Called in to make order at 630 stills at here at 720 only wanted food for two. Wasn't told it would be nearly an hour. Too busy to cope with demand give it a miss. Pity.

Food here is good, but have a tendency of getting an order wrong. Came home without two sides which were paid for. Also requested something to be separated from the main meal... there seems to be communication issues. Staff, why so many? Organised chaos...I asked for my order to be fixed which wasn’t a problem but staff must think that the customer cannot hear them talking behind the counter running the customer down. Maybe management should try to refresh training in customer service. As they are losing custom.Very disappointed. Won’t be back.

Ordered from here a few times, have yet to get a correct order made, always something wrong. The app sends email to say food is on it's way, 40 mins later still no food (2.5 hours wait in total) so my partner phones down to be what can only he described as verbally abused over the phone. Staff are unbelievably rude. Will never be back.

i have visited this restaurant on many occasions when going to the airport or shopping at junction 1 but will never be back again yesterday when returning from an airport run called in to what can only be descibed as a domestic argument between staff who were very loud placed an order which was served wrong and was surprised that the plates did not break when placed on the table with the force that they were presented to us did not enjoy our dining experience at all staff training a must as customers should not feel uneasy in your restaurant staff rude and unprofessional such a pity as the quality of the food here is good but continue in this manner you will loose customers and will be out of buisness

Completely understand that it’s not the best to bring food in from another place although I am pregnant and I had my little sister who has autism with me and we brought in a few chicken nuggets and a different gravy due to she can’t stand any other gravy and I simply can’t eat chicken nuggets with too much grease. We came to shunters and ordered a large chip and another large chip with gravy and cheese and decided to sit in, the staff then saw that I had gravy and a few nuggets from another place and instead of coming to me or ask for an explanation they stood behind the counter and talked about me and my partner!! Also threw sly comments like “we’re going to have to put a sign on the door saying no food allowed to be brought in” while laughing which made me feel so uncomfortable!! I also got stared at the whole time while eating my meal. I would appreciate if the staff could come to me instead of making me feel so small in a place I purchased food. Very disappointed with the attitude of the staff and quite frankly it needs sorted!

I've never eaten here before and I was promised the best fish supper ever . The cod was great, fat and succulent and the batter was crispy and tasty but let down badly by the chips. They were undercooked and not at all tempting. I only ate a few chips and the rest went in the bin. At £7+ with a bottle of coke I don't think I'll rush back.

I ordered a home delivery ; which I frequently order from this chippy on occasions. When eating my meal ; I discovered that firstly my onion rings were raw , and undercooked. I thought that maybe it was just an unlucky one or two but it was the whole portion, but I also found that my chips were also raw and underwhelming. Additionally it should be noted that they also forgot to add an additonal plastic cover , as the red sauce was covered all over the paper , which lead to my raw chips sticking to the paper , which if they were cooked correctly I would be eating paper and chips ; which frankly I prefer not to. Despite the negativity the Chicken fillets burger was great , but it was slightly dry and oily. Finally I have left this review , purely based on how they have treated me , as when calling up, I explained my situation, where they acted like headless chicken ,but also not even acknowledging my issues, but expressing that it was ''made fresh'' but the issue was based upon that it was undercooked. This lead to a lady aggressively shout in a toned manner " well pack it up and my delivery driver will get it" To where I addressed rather than getting money , an alternative portion would have be sufficient. Which lead to the violent outburst.Despite this, I personally feel that the tone in which she spoke with me was frankly unusual , and it was very aggressive ; which if possible a course in hospitality would be needed , to ensure good and sufficient services is provided and if not addressed I will not be returning.

Called in for lunch. I had the chicken fillet burger and chips my daughter had battered sausage and chips.The Batter was cooked freshly and was so light. Very nice. The service was good - served to our table. You can also see behind the counter to the cooking area which was immaculate.Would definitely recommend.

The 8 wings were bloody delicious with the sauce milked from a bufallo ! I thought a handful of chips wouldn’t have gone amiss like most chippies do with goujon meals etc.

I was shocked to come on here and see reviews that weren't good. I tried shunters for the first time this year and now it is my chippy of choice in antrim.The menu has a good selection and they are always very helpful when I tell them I am vegetarian and try to accommodate me. It is good that you can also sit in, I came with my young son and the girl that served me came round and helped me with a high chair which was really nice and friendly.The portion sizes are always good and the staff are always lovely. Don't be put off my bad reviews on this, I'm glad I didn't read them before I went and just tried it for myself!

i was in shunters and not of had anything to eat from breakfast i was starving and had realy looked forward to my hot wings ,so this is what i ordered 16 wings and a small chip, as i was standing watching the cook i was suprised to see them going into a micro wave oven but not before getting very well sprayed with a soloution which i would love to know what it was ,then back into micro , and out onto the flame grill, go the call it was ready and put the heater on in the car and went straight home , i had the tea ordered and plate in the oven to heat ,when i got them onto the plate the chips were cold and soggy and the chicken was not cooked properly ,i was very cross ,, by this time i had checked the time youre shop closed so iput them in the bin in disgust , at no time did i see anyone check the tempeture of the food , as i am not one for complaining i decided to give it another try last week , so my partner went up and ordered 8 wings this time you did not have any sauce orther than barbecue so she brought them home after telling the girl on the counter our experence the week before but it made no difference they were cold in places and most definatly not properly cooked , and yes un gussed it the whole lot went into the bin,,will we have to wait till someone gets poisined before something gets done johny the wing man.

Absoutely terrible the young girl on the phone was lovely and i explained my order then to recieve it it and for the food to be soggy i rang and explained the problem she said thats no problem i will send u up a new order i thanked her and as far as i was concerned it was sorted ohhh no deffo not i get a call back 2 mins later from a different staff member sayin the wouldnt be replacing my order they were sendin me a refund up instead and they would appreciate it if i wasnt abusive to there staff absolute nonsence i work in hospitality myself so i have nothin but respect 4 them cause i know its hard working with the public sometimes all in all the customer service was shockin the food wasnt great so i eventually got a refund nearly 3 hrs later no apology or anything safe to say i wnt be using this takeaway place again so sad cause a while back its was the nicest time in town

Attended for lunch a few times, when there is only 1/2 of the 5 total tables filled they cope alright and food is served in a reasonable time but if they are busy it is not good. The last occasion we ordered off the lunch menu, straight forward orders chips and sauce, chips and sausages etc one member of the group got his lunch, finished eating before mine came, I finished eating and then the two others in the group then got theirs. They start to bring half orders to tables then move onto another table serve a few there rather completing them one party at a time. It's a shame as the food is nice and reasonably priced. On one occasion the staff were arguing among themselves which isn't great in front of customers. Have stopped using them at lunch time unfortunately.

Daugher ordered desserd to be delivered . Choc cake came with garlic mayo instead of cream . Rang and they said they would send it up . They rang back saying they had no cream did we want icecream said no but girl kept saying we only have ice. Cream after min silence i asked what they were going to do about it . She went away came back and said we could have free cream nxt time . The cream comes with the cake so that offer was silly . Have tried to contact them but no reply . I no its only cream but come on you can have better cuatomer service than this . And who wants cake with no cream

Otra visita a los enganchadores y, de nuevo, la comida y el personal increíble. He visto algunos comentarios diciendo que tenía que esperar a su comida, bien puedo asegurar que vale la pena esperando. El personal de aquí es el más simpático y atento que me he encontrado. Yo y mi hijo habían servido la comida, pero la orden de mi esposa tomó un poco más de tiempo. Como ella estaba esperando un miembro del personal sirve un plato de patatas fritas como ella dijo "mantener", ir ella era un toque muy agradable y habla maravillas de su servicio al cliente. Los enganchadores nunca había decepcionado y esperamos que nuestra próxima visita.

Tuvimos a nuestra primera y última los enganchadores de esta noche. Cod y una porción de pollo con patatas fritas para goujons £10 y un largo suficiente esperar que esperábamos grandes cosas! Chico, nos decepcionó. Pollo y pescado eran goteo en aceite, se podía sentir que su garganta deslizarse hacia abajo, realmente no es bueno. Y ¿por qué no escuchar la gente. . . . "quieres sal y vinagre? "no gracias" y sí, era todo de natación en sal y vinagre. No volveremos!

Called for takeaway food. Had to wait ages & very disappointed with food. Portions were ridiculously small and greasy. Won't be back!!!!!

travel from Ballyclare to get a take away from here!! well worth the travel. absolutely fantastic food, theres something here to suit everyones tastebuds!! the customer service and cleanliness is phenomenal. i would highly recommend this chip shop to anyone! :)

Este restaurante de comida rápida ha sido decorado con gusto y es precioso y relajante. Situado en el borde de un parque de coche, hay un montón de espacio para aparcar. El personal es muy atento. Por desgracia, no fue tan entusiasta en mi comida....

We were staying at the Ballyrobin Country Lodge and came here because of their smokehouse menu. We weren't disappointed. The pulled pork sandwich was mahoosive and delicious. Prices were excellent. Dinner and pudding for £6--can't complain.

Was here today with my nephew we had a lovely lunch. Lady behind counter really nice and went out of he way to make us comfortable. Sloppy Joe lovely aswell as homemade onion rings. They do pork burnt ends which are really good. Chips tasty and crispy and very generous portions.

Woah! What a glamour it was to stumble on to here. I just made a random stop to eat and I am so glad that I stopped here. I had some chicken plate which literary filled the entire plate and it was so delicious as the price was great for all the food I got. The two people working there were really nice as well and made sure I enjoyed the meal and even gave me the remote to the television. If I am ever around Antrim again, I will stop here....and you should too.

Prompt efficient service from pleasant staff.Good menu, food was hot and very employable.Good value for money and good size portions if your hungry!

Had lunch this Wednesday. Great that you can 'Sit In' also. Super portion size' enough for a chip buttie later! Everyone enjoyed. Good value for money. Will be back.

I loved this place when it opened went in all the time but it has gone downhill. I haven't been in a few weeks but I just hope they have stopped cutting corners especially were the onion rings are involved I can't stand processed frozen ones. I was really disappointed.

Came here for food a few times, i like it that you can also sit in :) food was lovely and the staff were pleasant! would recommend this chip shop and it is good value for money.

Local favourite, if you fancy a chippy then here's the place to go, good value for money and decent portion size. Staff are friendly would recommend.

We tried Shunters a few times and the food was lovely. The onion rings were proper crispy battered rings and the chips were fresh and delicious. Went back recently and the onion rings were the cheap frozen ones and chips horrible. Thought it was just a one off but went back and the same thing. Won't be wasting my money again.

We love this place, the portions of chips are huge, enough for two! Everyhing freshly cooked to order, you can't beat it. The best in Antrim!

Recently opened, food is fantastic. Friendly staff. Menu is traditional chip shop with addition of barbecue ribs, pulled pork. A few twists on the normal.I got chilli beef with chips, the wife got pulled chicken. Portion was bigger than I could manage; though I did try. Mainly carry out though they have a few tables for sit in.Food was great, as this is local we will be eating here again.
