The Indians don’t recommend at all Plain curry’s no taste + the Naan was so hard just like animals feed couldn’t eat Had to order another take away

Best Indian takeaway in Scotland.

Excellent food, always reliable when ordering and by far the best curries in town. The onion bhajis in particular are exceptional and the lamb curries very high quality.

Dreadful takeaway food, last night, really awful. The pakora was black and burnt and so hot it was inedible. My chicken Malaya was runny, overly sweet liquid with a miserable amount of dried out tandoori chicken. My husbands chicken curry was floating in oil. Never again!! To cap it all we both had sore stomachs overnight even though we had eaten a little amount of it. Most of it went in the bin. Today we both did not feel well and had upset stomachs. A truly awful experience.

Generous portions, quick delivery, absolutely delicious food. As good as the authentic Indian food I'm used to in Durban, South Africa

Absoloutley stunning! We didn't go in the restaurant but ordered a delivery as had seen it was highly recommended. The food was delicious and all 7 of us were very satisfied with each meal. Even received poppadoms, samosas and onion bajis for free as a thank you! Will definitely be ordering again. Thank you so much!

Never had Indian food this good. We got great values for a great price, and some papadum on the house.

We had a great meal - two naans, two rice bowls, and four dishes to share among four people. We left stuffed and with some leftovers. The dishes were well spiced and flavorful. We had two chicken, one lamb, and one veggie dish and loved all of them. Don't miss this place!

Nice clean place I place a order in shop when I went home, there was a portion of rice missing, I tried calling the shop for over an hour but couldn’t get through to them as this is the second time this has happened to me I will not be buying anything in their again, I also would not recommend.

Ordered a take away and first time we have ordered. Have to say the food was very greasy and not great overall. Unfortunately will not be back. Having lived in Middle East for many years I’ve tasted many an authentic curry and this was not it.

Excellent curry full of heat & flavour and packed with meat. We ordered two chicken mains and two starters which were delivered on time. We had so much food we saved it for another meal the next day. Highly recommend 👍

Superb. Great food, great service, ready when it said it would be…. Can’t fault it. The king prawn dish was full of perfectly cooked prawns, the chicken shaslick wonderfully tender. Fantastic value for money. Definitely the best take away in the area.

First time at the Shukria and wasn't disappointed we called in ordered and was asked to come back in half an hour we did and our takeaway meal was ready. It was awesome the chicken tikka masala was hot and delicious the whole meal was fantastic. I'd highly recommend for a meal.

Each time we have ordered from here the food has been excellent. You get a lot for your money (the portions are very generous), it is all incredibly tasty and not greasy, and if you order to collect it doesn't take long. Highly recommended.

I had chicken tikka biryani and the other half had lamb mirchi garlic balti, with brinzal bhuna and garlic naan - all really tasty. They gave us some onion bhajis as well, which were the best. One of the best curries we’ve had. We’ll definitely be back when back in the area!

We came to Peebles for a weekend break and have come across this delicious takeaway 😋, honestly it's the best curry I've had. Hats off to you . I can recommend the lamb dupiaza and the chicken rogan josh. Mmmm

I ordered my food at 16:55 i was the first order he said . I rang again at 6 the food arrived at 18.05 paid and the driver left . I opened the order it was wrong . I rang them back said it would come straight away . My curry turned up At 18:40 so my rice ,chips,starters and nana bread was all cold . I told the getleman i now believe to be the owner . I wanted a redund and send the food back . He then told me to heat it up in a microwave . I told him no i want a refund . He then went and said i would have to wait until after 9 if he can get back . My wife and i then drove to the place and asked for a refund . Its the worst place i ever had food from in 52 year’s of my life and to be treated the way i was , totally unacceptable and unprofessional . When i went in the kitchen workers was smoking in the kitchen . Disgusting . A call to the environmental health tomorrow as i was in the food industry for many years . I would give this place a wide berth . Its a shame as i had eaten there years ago and the food was once lovely . O yes then to be told i was bard after asking for my money back . Not that i am bothered as i would never eat there again disgusting ! As for the quick response that i got on my complaint seems funny as i told you i would put a review and the others further down the page shows as no replys . But im glad I recorded the conversation in my house . And it also has cameras out side my property to prove how long you expected my food to sit while it was ment to rectify and my calls to you ! We had a fantastic takeaway from Shukria tonight. Mater paneer, chana baingon, and chicken podina all very delicious. The kitchen was generous and the staff were kind and professional, the meal was ready a few minutes early. We picked up from the shop, we knew it was going to be good before we even ordered from the smell coming out of the kitchen! Absolutely will order again.

My husband and I had a fallout and he left the restaurant leaving me with no money to pay for our meal. I discreetly waited until the reception desk was clear to explain the situation. A couple who dined there regularly noticed my distress and offered to pay for our meal. No. They knew that I would pay them back. The staff wouldn't let me leave the restaurant and phoned the police. The police couldn't believe that they had to interview me in a broom cupboard!!!!! Extremely demeaning. Immediately found my husband who immediately paid, but the police thought that the restaurant over reacted - they shook their heads at the ineptitude of the Indian restaurant staff! Up to you should you wish to dine there, but don't leave a tip!!!!! Only tip - don't WASTE police time. Lynne

Excellent food option after a day mountain biking! After roadtripping round Scotland, we had curry on our mind from the start! We finished the holiday biking in Glentress and made the decision to go to Shukria instead of the usual Prince of Persia. Friendly service with 5 hungry mouths shouting down our orders. We were pleased we made the decision when we sat down half an hour later in our camper with the most amazing feast! Great price with set menus and as a group we were lucky enough to have lots of freebies thrown in which went down well. We will definitely be returning as our new favourite! A must visit when you are in the area!

Received a delivery and have to say was very disappointed. We ordered the munchie box for starter the chicken was so dry and tasteless the chips were hard and cold and the pakoras were dripping in oil. We had the chicken madras had to drain the the oil out of the tub before eating and unfortunately just put me off. The massala poppodoms tasted liked they had been old ones cooked again very bitter tasting and over cooked. Will not be back in afraid. Really disappointing

The food would be fantastic if it wasn't so very very hot! Whole household felt like it should be toned down by 20-30%, some couldn't even eat theirs. All our friends and family who have ordered on other occasions feel the same.

Ordered the munchie box, it was cold when arrived and mostly stale chips. Maybe 3 chicken pakora and couple peices of chicken. Absolutely waste of money. Was supposed to come with a can of juice as written on the website and of course I didnt get my juice. Really need to step their game up...

We moved to Peebles recently and wanted to try and Indian takeaway. We were not disappointed with Shukria. Superb vegetarian choices, efficient delivery and amazing food. The only small suggestion I would make is to deliver in strong paper carrier bags, as the plastic delivery bag in not recyclable, otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Very lovely takeaway from Shukria! Slightly delayed delivery, but only about 30 minutes and it was well worth the wait. Big portions, lots of flavour coming through, and not at all greasy (unlike many Indian takeaways I've tried elsewhere).

As a large group we have eaten here many times and like the food, friendly staff, good service. The house wine isn't very good, wish it could be improved if you only want one glass of wine. The prices are reasonable. We will definitely return.

It's good place for Indian and Bangladeshi food, highly recommended.

They messed up our order and we didn't get one of the curries. We paid nearly £30 for a home delivery for 2 curries. One of which was so bland we couldn't eat it. We will not use Shukria again.

I order from here a lot, and the food is always amazing. But they cannot estimate their times, today I waited almost 2 hours after ordering, and I had that before. I wouldn't mind if they wouldnt say it'll be ready in 60 minutes, forcing you to wait outside like a numpty. Give realistic times, and I'll leave a positive review!

Really lovely food and a great delivery service. I have coeliac plus some food allergies and the staff here are amazing. There are not many places I can regularly eat safely and eating out sometimes feels so stressful but I’m delighted to be able to have takeaways from here. I drive down to Peebles every weekend From Edinburgh, just for this small Indian cuisine based in Peebles. The food is amazing the staff are very friendly! Must try the North Indian Garlic chilli chicken and the Sylheti Gost Balti!

Enjoyed many, many take away curries from here! The butter lamb was excellent, as was the lamb shashlik kebab. Their vegetarian options are also delicious and I love their cucumber rahita, garlic naans, and pakoras.

I ordered vegetable Samosas as my partner is vegan, received chicken , food tasted awful, also ordered a half and half , but there was no rice, when complained they said I was wrong, and that he took the order, however I pointed out it was his wife who took it not him, and then not interested. Always super tasty and incredibly generous portions. The set meal for two would feed four comfortably. Sometimes there might be a bit of a wait when they are very busy but they are busy because they are so good.

Poor food low low quality stay well clear

I've ordered many times from this Indian takeaway. I live literally 5 mins from their establishment, but preferred to have my food delivered using their delivery service. Each time I called for a delivery of food I was told it would take an hour or more because they were so busy??? I accepted that at the time as I was hungry and wanted to order food in. This made me wonder that if I physically went to order a takeaway in their shop; would I wait an hour for my food? They are dealing with customers orders who come in to their shop before the people who are ordering food to be delivered to their homes. They tell you they're so busy and the last time I ordered a delivery of food, when it arrived it was stone cold and the Pakora was hard as a rock; but to make matters worse they forgot the sauce & extra salad.When I called the Shukria to inform them of this I was told to bring the food to them and they would give me a fresh order or I could wait another hour for delivery of a fresh order? His manner was hostile and quite angry on the phone and I could not believe as a regular customer I was being treated so poorly. I ordered food to be delivered to my home because they do advertise that service and I expect delivery of my food to arrive hot and the correct order. When I'd phoned about the sauce & salad, the man on the phone was unhelpful, rude and full of excuses. He shouted at me down the phone saying I'd have to wait another hour for a fresh order as he didn't have a car and the ? driver was not available either. They use a taxi company to deliver their food and I'm even charged for delivery despite being only 5 mins from their door. I'm sad in a way as I cannot give a bad comment about their food. The food is quite authentic and very tasty, but unfortunately their service is just not up to scratch.If they are so busy then they need to expand on their staff and delivery drivers to ensure they provide an efficient delivery service. They should not advertise this service if they are unable to actually provide such a service.Sadly I won't be ordering from them in the future as I didn't even get an apology for the mistakes they made with my food delivery order and that is not good customer service. They sent a young man to my door almost an hour later with the sauce and he told me it's the first time he'd ever delivered food to a door and from what he told me, he was the son of a female taxi driver they use for deliveries. They couldn't even come to my door themselves and sent this young person instead. I asked him to relay my concerns and feedback to the owners of the Shukria and had hoped they would have called to apologise, but no contact at all.The food order went in the bin as it was stone cold and had gone hard so I had no dinner that night as it wad then to late to order elsewhere. I won't be using this service again in the future until they learn how to provide the services they claim that they cater for and in a more professional manner.

Takeaway. Delivered in good time. Extra popadoms and a portion of onion bhajis thrown in was a nice touch. The peshwari nan we ordered was in fact a plain nan and not great, a bit chewy as always seems to be the case with takeaway. The Karai Gosht was uncomfortably hot , I really couldn't enjoy it. Would give this another try as really reasonably priced and big portions, just go for something a bit milder next time.

We eat regularly from the Shukria as the food is lovely, its flavoursome and not too expensive. You can collect yourself or have it delivered. Highly recommended by me and my husband.

Ordered from this place on the basis of the good reviews but ended up seriously disappointed. Both currys, one of which from the Chefs Selection menu lacked flavour, texture and consistency. Meat was overcooked and the bhuna was mostly liquid. To top it off we've been left feeling lethargic the next day, with an upset stomach. Nothing authentic about the food from this place and if you like actual Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine then I'd avoid.

Tastiest food in Peebles! Good sized portions freshly cooked and service with a smile and a few extra pakoras thrown in. You won't be disappointed.

Ordered a takeaway from Shukria whilst on a short break in Peebles. One word to summarise: Outstanding! Outstanding ordering and delivery experience (the person taking my order and the delivery driver were both extremely friendly and professional); Outstanding food... delicious pakora and mixed kebab starters, and very large portions (observation: Shukria starter portions twice the size and half the price of Edinburgh takeaways!); curries were fantastic, very good rogan josh and jaipuri dishes. This is a superb Indian takeaway restaurant. A very easy five stars. Almost makes you want to move to Peebles to be able to get a takeaway from Shukria on a regular basis!

Delicious food and great staff, try the biryani and if you’re looking for the full luxury flavor go with the masala and the the mouth watering curry. And don’t forget to snack on papdam while waiting for the order it’s my kids favorite crisp, well and me!!

Because of the many good reviews we decided to have dinner at Shukria. Not until we got there we realized it was a takeaway only restaurant. But taking out food was not an option because we were traveling. We asked the owner if it would be okay if we ordered food and eat in the waiting room. He accepted in a very accommodating way and did the best he could to make us feel comfortable. The food was very delicious and we enjoyed every bite! Everything was fresh and tasty. We can highly recommend this place, it was definitely one of the best Indian meals ever.
