Shrigleys Moroccan Cafe in Southwark

I was so pleased to discover this restaurant is still here ten years after I used to regularly visit when I worked close by. The Moroccan chicken salad which I have had on all my visits is still really tasty and the portion was very generous. Really good food and not expensive.

We ordered Moroccan kofta salad meal and it was just horrible. Very disappointed. Kofta we’re so dry, salad was not fresh at all, seems like leftovers from yesterday.

What a great place... really lovely service and some of the best Moroccan food I've eaten outside Morocco. Superb Moroccan chicken, falafel & salad plate which came with hummus, pita & wonderful harissa. Huge portion, excellent value.

This is the best place for food in this area, and I'll go as far as saying on this side of the river. Before COVID-19 they were always busy with lines going out two doors down but even now they had a fair few people in here. Great selection of Moroccan and English food, all halal and very friendly & courteous staff too. I highly recommend the Moroccan Chicken Royal, but whatever you have, you'll not regret it and come back for more.

Chicken undercooked and pink inside, rubbery and stringy. Wrap also burnt and not folded well. Never again

Can’t fault these guys I’ve eaten here multiple times. But by far the best is the big chicken wrap I normally have it with chilli sauce. May I add this is enough alone to fill you up They do breakfast,lunch,dinner Most stuff I’ve had is traditional Moroccan.

This was the first time we had visited the area and one of us wanted ethnic food. We were strolling down the road and saw Shrigleys. The restaurant was obviously both sit in and take away and was almost full. A couple moved tables so the three of us could sit together. We ordered from the counter and sat down. The food arrived quickly and was delicious and there was plenty of it. I had chicken and haloumi salad, a coke and later a cup of tea. The total cost was £9.95. We hadn't met for some months, so we sat and chatted for ages but nobody rushed us or pushed us out. Excellent food and very good prices.

I eat here once a month, before a nearby evening meeting. They do the best chilli and rice I've ever met. Their signature meal, Moroccan chicken with humous, pitta bread and salsa salad, is delicious, but usually more than I can manage. The staff are friendly.

I am sitting in this cafe right now eating the most delicious, flavourful, authentic, amply portioned vegetarian breakfast I could hope for! I stopped by this place on a whim while visiting London for work. I cannot do it justice in a review! I can’t even show a photo because I’ve demolished their beautifully presented platter. It has a nice varied cafe style menu with a range of typical English and Moroccan options to suit everyone. It’s just a beautiful, quiet breakfast spot with pleasant staff. And good value, which is rare in London! I really advise you try it.

Borough market and high street area have much to offer. Few mins from underground and London bridge. Walk over for good food reasonably priced. Pavement seating if you wish probably only about 20 covers in clean well managed restaurant. Extensive menu, with daily specials. We chose Moroccan chicken, someone had a moroccan lasagne dish less spicy. Salads, and even English breakfast catered for on mornings. Don't miss the mint tea, it's refreshing and cleansing. Very friendly helpful welcoming place serving authentic food.

What a find will definitely go here again. Food is halal which was not a problem. Ham was turkey but it was very nice not the cheapest sandwich shop ever but still very very nice.

This was the second occasion on which I was served chicken that was clearly days past it’s use by date. Unfortunately despite once being a regular customer I won’t be returning. Very disappointing. I only hope I won’t be getting sick.

Un pequeño y acogedor café en Borough High Street, con un personal muy amable. Entré para tomar algo rápidamente para el almuerzo, y aunque estaban ocupados (como siempre lo están) la comida llegó rápidamente y tenía un sabor increíble. Un lugar de almuerzo muy conocido y confiable en mi oficina.

Vine aquí para un desayuno que era realmente encantador y llegó rápidamente! el personal era muy amable y dispuesto a ayudar con cualquier cosa. Me encantó toda la decoración y los platos y vasos que eran realmente únicos. ¡Recomienda el té de menta fresca! En general, una experiencia encantadora! ! Sin duda volveremos! !

This was my first time here and I was very impressed with the cafe. I like Moroccan food generally as there is always a good choice for vegetarians and this place was not disappointing. Salads and sandwiches come in various combinations and my salad was delightful. Service was good and prices very fair considering the location very close to London Bridge and Borough Market.

Another trip back to my favourite Moroccan cafe and once again a superb meal. The Halloumi salad and the chicken salad are both delicious. Staff are very friendly and you must try their speciality chilli sauce! Love this place - great value too (a large plate of food plus a can of pop for £8.45). Will definitely return.

I really like Shrigley's, I'd definitely go more often if it was just that bit closer to my office! I'd definitely recommend their chicken. Great portion sizes for the money.

Had the Morrocan salad, came with the grilled chicken, lamb, hollumi, hummus and pita. Was pleasantly surprised it was delicious. Massive portions and very friendly staff. All for £7!

It's a Cafe but it's nice. The food is fresh and well cooked. I had the English breakfast. No Pork in this establishment so the bacon is "turkey rashers" and the sausages are beef sausages.

We stumbled across this place after walking around Borough Market and deciding we'd actually like to sit down and eat. It is merely a few minutes walk from the market and worth finding finding! Lovely little rustic place with cushions, sadly probably not very wheelchair friendly if you want to stay in as there's maybe around 8 tables quite compact. They do morrocon and Turkish food alongside the usual sandwich choices and English breakfast all at a great price. The place looked spotless, service attentive and friendly. I had the chicken kofta wrap which was divine, only about £7 with salad to boot. Meat was tasty, moist and very filling. Next time I'm in London I'd actually go out my way to dine here. Cups of tea around £1. The hot sauce on the tables was incredibly flavoursome too. 5 stars from me!

Forget about the Premier Inn Breakfast, this is a 30sec walk and much more rewarding. Friendly staff, nice food and a nicer experience overall.

Moroccan chicken with hallumi and chilli sauce in a wrap. So so good. Also tried the lasagna, have to say, homemade and almost as good as mine. Good to have as a take away or sit in. You will not be disappointed

La comida son de calidad muy alta. La decoración es auténtica y Marroquí (al menos para mí). El personal es muy amable. El único problema es que puede ser muy concurrido en el almuerzo y difícil tener un buen debate/charla como este lugar es siempre lleno y ocupado!

Me alojé en el Premier Inn y queríamos algo caliente y rápido para comer. Encontré este lugar y se hizo mi estancia! Tuve Haloumi y pasta y estaba delicioso. La pasta tenía mucho facilitándome - tout, brócoli, maíz, pimientos y griddled bebé pesto. El Haloumi estaba crujiente y abundante. Tuve una comida para llevar y todavía estaba caliente cuando regresé a mi habitación. Altamente recomendado y por alrededor de £7. La mujer que me atendió fue muy amable, ella parecía ser la gestión de los hombres y está haciendo un gran trabajo en pista con ellos manteniendo los pedidos, etc. Lugar encantador.

El plato de pollo sabroso pollo royale, perfectamente preparada, con kofta, halloumi, hummus, pan pitta, ensalada y cuscús, es un delicioso capricho por menos de 7 libras. 50. Regados con té de menta fresca. Exuberantes jardines. Hace un rugiente llevar, pero tiene alrededor de 20 asientos con cojines cómodos.

The food at shrigleys is great, especially the Moroccan chicken salad, with a big dollop of harissa. Abdul and his team are very friendly and always welcoming.

This is one of my favourite treats for lunch in the week. They do an amazing chicken salad, I pick the chicken escalope over the moroccan chicken but I have heard that is great too. The salad box has risen in price, it used to be £5.50 and is now £6 but it's totally worth it. It comes with salad, cous cous, hummus, pitta and this tomato salsa but not salsa type.

We went here twice on our overseas adventure. We loved it so much the first time that we had to come back before leaving. The salad plates came out with generous serves of hummus, tabouli, garden salad, pita, haloumi and morrocan chicken (these last two things depend on your choice) with each element being absolutely delicious. The morrocan chicken was by far the best! Two salad plates, eating in, cost us about £14 and easily filled us up. If you looking for something delicious to eat and you are in the area, I would recommend this place.

Shrigleys está justo al lado del London Bridge Premier Inn donde nos alojábamos. Cata de café después de blanco, me shrigley inicia cada día con ella. Estoy seguro que la comida está bien, pero preferimos caminar a Starbucks por su comida y wifi.

Visitamos este lugar de nuevo con un amigo para una comida rápida después del trabajo. El lugar es bastante pequeña, pero nos dieron una mesa bien. Gran ambiente. Es como un cruce entre un café y un restaurante. Pedimos la ensalada de pollo Royal - deliciosa comida con pollo, haloumi, kofte, ensalada y hummus. Además, por supuesto, su famosa salsa de chili! El personal era muy amable. Gran lugar para visitar, no muy lejos de la estación de London Bridge. Altamente recomendado.

Cortado de pies para descansar y almorzar y recibimos una cálida bienvenida. Extenso menú teníamos halloumi ensaladas y eran enormes y muy sabroso! Hay un montón de gente y la comida para llevar, así que el servicio es muy rápido. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente! Excelente relación calidad-precio.

This place looks really nice and has a good selection of food on the menu. However the food was disappointing. Really dry falafel, tiniest smudge of humus ever and pita bread to hard to cut. The salad was supposed to be a salsa salad. It was cucumber and tomato and not fresh. Might be worth trying this place at breakfast but not so great in the evening.....

Some call it Chicken Plate, some call it Chicken Box, some call it Chicken Royale ... it's brilliant. The harissa is out of this world too. One of the few UK restaurants to proudly claim to have a 'house special'. Welcome is always warm and friendly. Good value and good portions. Can't speak highly enough of it. Am a regular of at least once a week.

This is a very popular lunch spot for local workers (we were there on a Wednesday). Bring your appetite! Moroccan chicken salad is very good but a huge portion and much more than I could eat. Mediterranean salad was also good, but large.

Daily lunch queues which stream out the door, make sure you get there early or you can sit in and soak up the bustling atmosphere! The chicken box (to takeaway) and chicken plate (to have in) are filling, good value and delicious - coming with 4 chicken breasts, cous cous, leafy salad, hummus, warm toasted pitta and spicy harissa. Having visited here previously we decided to return again for some lunch. This cafe is extremely busy & popular, especially for takeout too (cheaper prices). Food is very tasty & reasonably priced for London. They do Moroccan salads etc plus standard cafe fayre (ie Lasagna, breakfasts, croissants etc). We enjoyed the food plus the Moroccan Tea. They provided plenty of Harissa sauce to accompany our meal.We thought the Moroccan tea was quite steep at £2.20 for a pot for one. But as it was an occasion we were prepared to pay the price. My only gripe is that they do not provide tap water on request. It also states this on the menu. It's the first place ever that we have been refused. For that reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5. But apart from that, everything was enjoyable about this cafe, it is extremely popular for takeout and would have no hesitation in returning next time we are in the area.

The meal i had was superb. It was a mixed fresh Moroccan salad that had so many different tastes and flavours. A mixture of meats and sauces served with warm pitta. The presentation was superb and unfortunately i didn't take a picture of it to show because i had devoured the entire plate full without taking a breath.If you like a good salad, this is where you need to come. Very friendly staff and good service.

Shrigley's "Chicken Box" is absolutely legendary in our office. It's amazing value for money, so delicious, always freshly cooked and served hot. We go there all the time to eat and are never disappointed! Getting take out is better because it's normally too busy to eat in.

If you looking for something healthy and fresh, this is the place to go.It is really close to Borough Market but without the exorbitant prices!Lunch times can be a bit crazy so try go before or after lunch. Chanced upon this strangely named cafe today and had one of the best meals I've ever had for £6.00.A great hot chicken salad with cous cous, humus and pitta.Thoroughly recommended.

I often go for lunch during the week. The morroccan chicken wrap includes two tender chicken fillets with hummus, salad and chilli sauce; outstanding flavour and really filling. Just 5 quid! The halloumi wraps are equally good.

Halloumi wrap was just what the doctor ordered. Fresh, good size and great price at £5. This is now my favourite lunch spot in the area. Keep up the good work sirs!

For Breakfast and luch this is the place to go! Their Vegetarian English breakfast and salads are simply amazing and their back tea is great! I visit London every year and this place is always on my mind!

We booked our table for 4 at lunch time. Although it was very busy but stuff was very helpful. I got our food very quickly after we order. It was little bit noisy but food was nice. We enjoyed it and hopefully we will go again.

We went there as it seemed the only Middle Eastern restaurant in the area and had the kofta and halloumi plates. On the plus side the restaurant is spotless and aesthetically pleasing, down to the Morrocan style colourful plates and occasional cushions, which makes it feel like a place to sit and enjoy rather than the takeaway which I suspect it primarily is. The menu is certainly not Middle Eastern. There is a bit of everything, and by the looks of things the thing to have is a British all day breakfast, or maybe an Italian lasagna or pasta. The 'Maroccan' we ordered was simple (and good) salad, humous and cuscous with an ok halloumi on one side and a freshly cooked but definitely not nice, pungent kofta - which was basically left. At six quid each we were not happy. However, the Maroccan chicken might well have been better along with the full English.

I visited the place with few friends on Sunday lunch time. The place was not too busy so we managed to seat quickly.The service was fast and the team very attentive. Food was good but it is more Lebanese type of food rather than Moroccan. If you are looking for some real moroccan food then it is not the place but i would still recommend for a quick lunch in SE!

Visited here on a recommendation from a friend for an early evening meal. Only a small place but it was empty when we arrived at 5pm and we sat in there and ate a lovely Moroccan Chicken salad with cous cous and pitta. Delicious food, especially the chilli sauce, and the staff were very friendly. Great value for money and well worth a visit.

We were looking for somewhere different to eat while in London. After looking at the reviews on TA we decided to try out shrigleys. We were not disappointed. We like Moroccan food so decided to have the Moroccan chicken salad with couscous & the lamb salad with couscous. Finishing with a Moroccan mint tea & Moroccan coffee. We enjoyed it thoroughly.Moroccan coffee wasn't anything special but the Moroccan tea was worth the price in our opinion.We were a little surprised by the prices but reminded ourselves that this is London. For London prices this was reasonable value. Take out prices though are cheaper. There are also other choices apart from Moroccan available at the cafe (is chilli con carne, English breakfast etc).Seating is limited and it does get crowded especially at lunch-time.We were there at lunchtime and it was packed both with sit down customers & office workers coming for take-out. Staff were friendly and it has a 5 hygiene rating.We would definitely come along next time we are in the Borough area or nearby. Borough Market is a short distance across the road up the High St.We were full afterwards. Top marks from us.My only added tip would be that to make the experience even more authentic would be nice to have low Moroccan music in the background.Two happy customers though with no regrets.

Probably the best wrap I have ever eaten. I went for the chicken with chilli which was great value. The staff are also really friendly, all in all a great alternative to London chains.

If you want to avoid paying the highly priced street food in nearby Borough market and sit down and enjoy your meal then walk the short distance down the High Street to Shrigleys.A small but well laid out cafe it offers large portion meals which are healthy and delicious. We had a Moroccan falafel salad and a Moroccan chicken breast salad. Both came with houmous, pitta bread and cous cous. A pot of chilli sauce which is more of a paste was provided which gave it that special tang. This was a full slap up meal for just over a fiver.Served by a couple of friendly guys it is a great place to rest up and enjoy your food instead of walking round the street looking for somewhere to sit with your takeaway.Definitely going back next time I am in the area.

I didn't give full marks as I sometimes get the feeling that they make up the price sometimes, and they are not the cheapest around...however...the Moroccan chicken box to eat in or take back to the office is superb and we keep going back. They are quick, and the food is always consistently good..no doubt we will be back there within a few days again!

If you want to eat well, for a good price and in the heart of London Bridge, Shirgleys is the place to go. After 3 years constantly visiting it, It never disappointed me. The main dish, the Maroccan Chicken Salad is absolutely delicious! A true Moroccan dish. If you have a chance, don't miss it.

This unassuming Moroccan cafe was a very pleasant surprise! We return again and again for the Chicken Royale platter, a veritable buffet on a plate of juicy marinated chicken breast, lamb patty, grilled halloumi, couscous, hummus and salad, with a side of warm pita and spicy harissa...all for under £6.00.Highly recommended for the tasty food, and speedy, friendly service.

We happened upon this small Moroccan cafe whilst sussing out the area prior to visiting the Shard. We were all hungry and wanted different things - eg breakfast/brunch. Liked the look of the place because it was clean and the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food is soooo good value. Really enjoyed our meals - although one of the party was disappointed as he did not get a Moroccan breakfast but had English instead. The Moroccan coffee was hot and very flavoursome. The flatbread with the dip (chilli) served with the salads blew us away and the humous was fab! Really good value and worth a short walk just beyond Borough Market away from the chain restaurants around London Bridge station.

Visit this small Moroccan cafe near London Bridge Station and Borough Market and you will not be disappointed. Traditional Moroccan cuisine and some English mainstays on the menu at very affordable prices considering you are almost next to the Shard. We had lovely fish tagine with salad, hummous and pitta and drinks for £13.50 for two of us. Place was very clean and had a good atmosphere and decor. Will go back next time we are in the area.

A real find....not the place you would normally come across unless you knew about it....but what a great place.Really great food at really exceptionate prices. Fancy Eggs Benedict Royal?.......well I thought of a simple small Eggs Benedict so I also ordered a bacon sandwich to fill me up.....but I didnt need to. The Eggs Benedict Royal was in fact two large eggs on muffin with enough smoked salmon to feed two....(plus a large salad and of course the pitta bread and harissa to die for)....topped with a delicious hollandaise sauce.Also highly recommended is the Morrocan chicken and lamb in pitta bread.We liked the place so much we made the effort go back next day.Don't miss this place if you are in London ...there are not so many really good places in the capital which have sensible prices. Our meal for 3 with drinks (soft) was just £20 !!!Beat that.

Vicinissimo a Borough Market, ci vado sempre ogni volta che sono a Londra:Pollo alle erbe buonissimo, Hummus (crema di ceci, sesamo etc..etc..) semplicemente divina da mangiarsi con la Pitta, una specie di pane caldo croccante senza lievito..stile nostra piadina, proprietario e staff davvero ospitali e affabili -Close to Borough Market.
