Sherwood Oak in Medway

Three of us went for lunch, pleasantly surprised. Food was good, friendly staff. As it was Halloween the pub was decorated, as were the staff, which created a good atmosphere. We were given a window seat which I had requested. Reasonable prices. Will definitely go back.

At lunch time today 28 of our Litter Picking Group met in the Oak for lunch. The restaurant kindly set an area aside so that we could all be together. We had a lovely time, food was great, our waitress was so lovely and sorted everything running backwards and forwards constantly. Staff were vey friendly, great menu and food was very reasonably priced. Thank you to you all for looking after us, we had such a lovely time.

Just had a lovely evening in the pub, the staff are always so nice and can't do enough for you. We had 3 children and 3 adults today and I can't say when I last had a personal service like this, Ela I so hope I got her name right was truly amazing, interacting with the kids and so polite, Steve came out from the kitchen to ask which o e of the boys left a blue m&m from the desert which cracked us up,he then along with Ela chatted with our kids which made us so happy and it was so warming an welcoming. Food was great and the price was amazing. Thanks guys

Come in to the oak today for a catch up with a couple of friends. Greeted with a brand new menu. Was told it was the launch day and the pub was all decorated. Nice buzzing atmosphere inside. Had a brilliant time. The staff were really lovely and friendly, and the food was great too! Will be coming back.

We visited the Oak with friends to celebrate a birthday. All staff are so friendly and welcoming. Drinks very reasonably priced and food excellent for the money. We had a great afternoon and the birthday girl was even given a gift by the manager! Many thanks for a great afternoon and we will see you again soon.

What a lovely place !! We pop out for a few drinks and a bit to eat. The food was nice, drink was a good price staff was very lovely and friendly. One of staff even brought over a free dessert as she hear was our anniversary. Will definitely be back again. Thank you for a lovely evening X

A local friendly pub, which serve great food. The menu has great range food for adults to kids. The staff are very friendly and helpfully, they where happy to change chips to salad with no problem a big plus. A great night out due to the excellent serve they give.

I frequent the pub once or twice a month to meet with friends. The beer is looked after well, and the food is always presented nicely and tastes good. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, one in particular (Justine) is always pleasant to chat to and pulls a good pint.

Came down with my mum the other day for lunch and the atmosphere was great lovely friendly family pub I had the all American burger and my mum had the fish and chip and they were so good will defiantly be coming down again soon!

Our food order took an age to to turn up, then the dessert had to be reordered as it was forgotten. Also we saw several people wait to get served at the bar whilst staff kept ignoring them not even acknowledging that they were waiting. Most of these reviews I believe are from actual staff members which I’m sure pubs all do, either that or we (and everyone else that we’re just unlucky). There was one member of staff who seemed to be doing everything and trying abit, of the others though one who looked hungover (who was the one who forgot our dessert order), one was more interested in going for cigarettes which she kept announcing and the other just looked lost and unsure what they should be doing. Sorry but poor showing all round.

I’ve been coming to this pub for a number of years and have never had a bad experience. The food is good and the portions are big. Can bring the kids down for lunch or dinner, there’s a play area outside. Bar staff are friendly as well and make you feel welcome. Would recommend.

Great food little peace, have been here a couple of times, normally for a car coffee morning with the hsv cars. We have miss it when we all was in lockdown, But the staff are always friendly helpful, food always amazing , they have a lovely garden, not a bad car park. Always busy when coming here. Are dog friendly in garden. We will be back again soon. Well done to the team at the oak

The food here is really good for what you pay. I've been to other Greene King pubs, and the quality of the food here seems to exceed the other pubs every time. For example, you can get some of the best and crispiest fish and chips here in the area, despite the low cost of it.

Nice cold drinks, safe beer garden with play area for kids.Ample car parking.Lovely meal which everyone enjoyed and a reasonable price.

I've been going to this pub for the last 20 years or so. The current landlord and landlady are fabulous, and staff are always very welcoming. Great atmosphere, lovely decor throughout and fantastic outside area. Food and drink aplenty, you won't be disappointed with anything

The Oak has a very friendly feel about it and always offers a warm welcome. The beer garden is vast with plenty of room and a good assortment of play areas for children. We find it a relaxing and perfect place to go, whatever you want from quiet to lively nights then this is the place to go.

Great pub excellent for watching sport. Staff are top notch always helpful and quick with orders. Food is good with a lot of choices also great value. Been brilliant at getting tables for the euros!

Was at the oak last week in the garden, we ordered food and drinks on the app, all is delivered to your to your table by the most friendly staff I’ve meet, they are always willing to do anything to help . Place is clean and tidy, play area is great for kids. We will defo be back again soon.

Missed this place, always great food and service here. Staff are always so friendly and helpful and always go out of they way to help in anyway they can. Went for dinner on the opening day with my Dad and my son. Was so lovely to be greeted by the friendly staff. Service was quick and the food was lovely. Buzzing atmosphere after all this time stuck at home. Can’t wait to visit again.

Brought my mum here for dinner. She was a bit concerned to be going out because of all the new rules.Can’t believe how professional & comfortable this place is.Apart from everyone wearing masks & having to stay seated, even for drinks, you wouldn’t know there was a pandemic. We had a lovely eveningService was friendly, food was amazing.Every seat was taken & they were obviously extremely busy but nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.Well done The Oak.

Sat out in the garden as it was a sunny warm day, ordered our food and due to there being three different payments (different family members) the food all arrived at the same table at about the same time which was good, kids sat in their own table in garden and staff didn’t have a problem with it at all, they have the one way walk through system that ‘most’ were adhering to and tables were cleaned and tidy,

My other half and I decided to go for dinner one evening. New to the area, we picked The Oak and heard it was a good local pub. Unfortunately for us we picked to go on the same night as an England game was shown on tv. We were greeted by about 10 drunk lads, shouting, swearing, just out control and begrudgingly we were sat next to them. I heard them making absurd sexual comments to the staff went they were challenge about the volume of noise. I said to my other half whether he could ask about getting another table. Whilst he was at the bar, I heard a glass smash and felt pieces go up my back, to turn around and see the broken glass directly behind my chair. A piece caught my leg and made it bleed. Whilst the staff were apologetic, nothing was done about the group. They weren’t asked to leave. The staff didn’t have any control. I get football lads are rowdy but their behaviour was disgusting and nothing was done by the staff. God forbid if a couple with a baby/young child was sitting where I was.That’s the first time I’ve stepped in that place and I can say never I’m going back.

I know it may have been busy, however on entry we were told a 30 mins wait for food which we were fjne with. We ordered on the mobile app. It took 3 chasers to staff and the drinks eventually arrived after 45 mins - the staff were run off their feet and not one of them apologised or came back when we chased. Still no food after an hour so spoke to the manager and was told it's all coming out in order, rather abruptly. Food arrived eventually after 90 mins with what seemed like half a portion of the sides. Didn't expect to get half portions just because the government are supporting! Won't be visiting again anytime soon

Took advantage of the 50% off scheme. The pub was very busy but the staff worked hard to keep everything running smoothly. We were informed of a short wait on food when we arrived but we expected it would be like that when we booked in. Food portions were generous and very tasty food. Lots of provisions in place for social distancing so we felt safe and comfortable during our meal. Would definitely recommend to others.

I went in here for lunch one day last week, and I was served by Sarah, a bubbly and outgoing worker. She couldn't do enough for me. Also the food was brilliant was hot and the perfect portion.

Friendly, happy attentive staff. As I am of that age I took advantage of their Seniors (60+) Deal.M-F two courses for £5.49, but I paid only an extra £1 for three courses. Well presented, tasty and hot.Good enough selection of choices and sufficient portions for me to be going back. With a coffee, the bill for all that was only £8.10.I thought I'd misheard. Excellent!

Came as a family for dinner (2 adults, 1 child). Menu was varied and offered a number of different deals. Pub was busy but a good atmosphere and there were other families in with children too. Bar staff were friendly and chatted to us while we were at the bar, food came out in good time and tasted great. We were offered desserts and hot drinks but too full from the main meals! Have been here on a couple of other occasions for sport and general drinks. Never had a bad experience.

Had Christmas dinner for the first time not at home and was fabulous! The portions were huge and the atmosphere was so festive and fun! We had 9 of us and we had no complaints just good food, good fun and would defo recommend! The staff and management team were wonderful even to the pre ordered drinks being iced and ready for when we arrived - defo a returning Christmas Day venue!

Booked a table for Christmas Day Dinner with my family. Having always had Christmas dinner at home it was my 1st ever lazy Christmas. Food was fantastic and so much of it. If I get my way next year I'll def be having Christmas dinner here again.

Having been here a few times we decided to come again, we booked for 8 people and we thoroughly enjoyed it food was amazing especially the cookie dough cheesecake. JUSTINE was our waitress and she was attentive and extremely friendly. Will be returning soon

My mum booked and paid deposit for boxing day meal. My son and I visited on a later date to pay the balance of the meal. We also ordered a meal whilst we were there. The meal was absolutely revolting. It was not proper chicken,the chicken was rubbery and oily. We only eat a couple of mouthfuls. We left the pub as soon as we could due to the noise the other customers were making. On return home we decided to cancel the boxing day meal,due to the poor standard of the food. We lost thirty pounds of our deposit. Overal we were glad not to return there. We went to another Green King pub in the area on Boxing day. We had a wonderful time and the food was very nice.

I visited here last week with my family of 6 for a “festive fayre” Christmas meal and I’m so glad I did. The food was absolutely spot on, the service that we received was excellent and the atmosphere was generally very bubbly and festive. Everyone, including the staff, were in high spirits which was lovely to see. All of us enjoyed our meals and it really exceeded the expectations of the rest of the family. I will most definitely be booking again next year for the festive menu and we even discussed spending our Christmas Day here. A great pub that delivered a service that was second to none despite it being busy over the Christmas period. Thanks guys.

The oak is a nice friendly pub and would recommend this to anyone with young children they have a play area out the back of the pub, nice atmosphere clean and good food

Had our Christmas meal for the first time.

Visted the oak with some friends as it was reccomended by someone i know. We booked the festive menu and chose what we wanted prior to attending. The table was set out beautifully and a staff member greeted us and took our drinks order which was good as it gave us an opportunity to chat and we didnt have to go to the bar. The food was great, you cant fault it! All courses were brought out when we were ready we did not feel rushed at all. Staff were attentive and couldnt do enough for us, very happy with the service and food. We will definitley be returning and reccommending to friends.

This is our favourite place to have a bite to eat and meet with friends. The service here is second to none, staff always going out their way for customers no matter how busy it is. Food is great, lovely atmosphere and one of our chosen places to often enjoy a meal.

I found that the staff were very warm and welcoming while serving at the bar aswell as doing table service. The staff were very friendly and chatting when taking an order and took their time with us to make sure that all our specific dietary requirement were meet. I would 100% recommend and come back to this pub in future.

I came to the oak pub the other day to have a nice meal with the family as it close by to were I live and I would defiantly recommend this pub the all my friends and family. There is a play area outside which is great for the kids the play on before and after we have had our dinner, the staff were very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable would 100% come again

I went there yesterday with my wife and some friends and we had a great time. The staff were very friendly and seemed to enjoy their job, the food was good and the prices were very reasonable.

Would recommend to anyone if you live in the area or not. Very friendly and welcoming landlady/landlord and staff. There is a huge garden/seating area outside and the inside has recently been refreshed. Didn’t get a chance to have a meal but all the food looked delicious and smelled amazing. Will definitely be taking a trip back there soon.

Today we were visiting the oak for my birthday with family. On route to the oak my 2 year old niece fell over and couldn’t put any pressure on her leg / knee, she was crying and could see she in pain. The lady Jacci could see my niece was distraught and she asked is she ok. We explained what happened and She quickly got an ice pack and helped soothe the pain and as a goodwill / distraction technique she gave her an ice lolly free of charge. This helped her lots. After a while she was fine and she played in the great play area and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the beautiful sunshine.

I have been here a few times so know what the place is like so I took some of my customers here for a meal and the oak didn't fail to deliver the steaks were perfect all cooked to perfection and the manager served our coffees with a complementary chocolate which was above and beyond what we would have expected we all left extremely happy and my new customers are going to frequent here again A**** the oak. Special mention to James who looked after us throughout and personally ordered us Taxis..

Best local pub by far.. staff are always very welcoming, great drinks offers and lovely atmosphere every day of the week. Love this place.

I used the toilets in the main seated area and they absolutely stank of urine and there was water (at least I was was all over the floor.

Love it here at the oak, the management are so welcoming and accommodating great with families even taking time out to give kids ice lolly’s in hot days or sweets to keep them entertained, love the food the halloumi fries and Louisiana chicken strips a must! Great atmosphere during football and always theme the pub around holidays and festivities great garden and play area and they are always thinking of new ways to update the bar and garden! I visited the oak about a month ago and hadnt been here before, found a table and ordered some food from the menu which was reasonably priced and the food was good. The staff are very friendly and cant do enough for you, i will definitley be returning.

Preferential service given to locals, even including holding an ordering position the bar for people who had gone to the toilet. Snotty staff member when this was questioned.

As other have said below, this is a real pub with locals drinking at the bar and not a gastro-pub will all the sterility that implies.

I have to say one of the best pubs I’ve been to and I have to been to a few as I’m a bit of a pub fanatic, the atmosphere of a local public house is better then any restaurant. The food was Better then normal pub food great selection to choose from. The staff there are lovely and I’m a bit cheeky but they know how to have banter back. I have found another pub to add to my list and I look forward to my next visit.

Visited several times in June urinals don’t flush not too bad until the warm weather then the smell really kicks in.....

We visited the oak as we where celebrating a birthday, we brought a cake and banners and the staff where more then happy to accommodate us. They put up the banners and brought the cake out and sang happy birthday with us. The food was lovely and the staff where amazing, thank you to the staff who made it stress free and making us feel as if we where at home.

My partner and I called in last week. The service was fantastic and the food plentiful, a bit too much for me with the all-day breakfast. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.

Lovely pub, very friendly vibe. staff couldn’t help more with my kids and dogs were welcome in the garden with a large bowl of water.

Me & my husband moved to Walderslade 10 months ago and have enjoyed lunch/dinner here quite a few times. We usually get served by the lovely Ella who is friendly, bubbly and funny. We’ve introduced our families to the oak who also love the place. We have never had a bad meal here and the chef is amazing! Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and even when my father in law wanted mint sauce they went and bought some! Would definitely recommend the place!
