Shawarma in Leeds

Lovely staff but food is lacking to some degree when it comes to a shawarma. Got the mixed shawarma with chips, the salad looked and tasted old and the oil hadn’t been changed for some time for frying the chips. Good portions and loved the accompanying sauces and packaging though.

As an egyptian born and raised, this is real authentic arab shawarma, showstopping, delicious, would absolutely recommend

Service was good and delivery came within expected time. Phoned the restaurant and they were polite and helpful. Food arrived warm, the lamb and chicken sheesh were very good. Chicken and lamb skewers were good alongside the donner. Wings were edible but would not recommend. Rice was absolutely awful and tasted like shop bought microwaveable rice. I would recommend adding the chilli dip it is a homemade sauce. Overall would rate experience 7/10 decent meal at a decent price.

The best shawarma, doner & chicken in Leeds so far! We’ve ordered a chicken and doner meat box, Mezaj King mixed grill and a mixed shawarma wrap via UberEats and arrived perfectly, warm, fresh and full of flavour, portions are massive so we have enough meat left for another meal. Highly recommended and instantly became our favourite takeaway 🫶🏻

Most underrated arab shawarma place in north uk !! Can’t beat refugees bringing authenticity to LEEDS pure hearted brothers. Deserve to pop off bigger.

Great food, tastes really good and very fresh. Love the pickled red cabbage and chillies. Donner meat best I've tasted. Excellent piri piri donner with peppers and onions. The Lebanease bread is excellent. Overall excellent ! very good value and tasty. Keep it up !

Ordered online this week, got the King Mixed Grill with rice. Fantastic food, huge portion and came hot and quickly. No complaints and will definitely order again.

Ordered the kofta meshwi and grilled chicken kebab through delivery. It was well packed (sadly it came in a styrofoam hence the 4 stars) and the portion was large, sides and condiments were generously given. Taste great too. Did not take long for them to prepare and the temperature on delivery was fine.

Ordered a shawarma platter and and kebab 2 days ago My partner me and sister haven’t been able to eat sleep or do anything as we’ve been poisoned by this disgusting takeaway My little baby sister is having to go into hospital as she had only a few pieces of donner but cannot keep anything in her body she’s becoming severely dehydrated DONT EAT HERE !!!!

This is a great little find. They make lovely Shawarma takeaway dishes and they have other delights on their menu. The only downside I would say is they don't open up early enough for a Friday lunchtime, it's closed. Opens around 4pm. We had a mixed Shawarma and some fries.

Storefront states that it is opening at 1pm. Waited till 1:30pm it is still not opened. The staff inside seems to be preparing couldn’t be bothered to explain why.

We were in Leeds, me & my close friend, & his nephew went to purchase some DJ speakers. Anyway, on the way back, he started talking about rate my takeaway guy off the YouTube. He went to this shawarma place called Mezaj Shawarma. which I saw the video week before. So we decided to go try it out. Got the £20 box exactly same. As rate my takeaway guy got with everything. You get 3 shish kebabs - I think it was two lamb one chicken - lamb boti - chicken wings -one shawarma wrap which is cut in slices so U get 4 two 5 pieces of the shawarma wrap. You get quite a lot of food. Which if your really really hungry it can feed two people. But it serves two to 3 people when I asked, the box. Plus you get a box of salad a box of chips & a box of rice. I tasted some of the rice but for my liking the rice had no flavour all. The rice for me was bland. The shawarma I tasted a of the piece without any sauce. It was dry, no flavour. But the shawarma wrap had quite a lot of flavour kicking out from the sauce that they had in the shawarma wrap. The sheesh kebab had good flavour. The chicken wing was decent nothing to shout about. Right, let’s get into this. Overall I rate the food 6 two 7 out of 10.

Opening time is 1pm but the guy kept the door locked and started complaining how he wasn’t ready to open. It was 1.30pm when I went. Had to rush back to work with no lunch.

Critical on my food but this place hits my top list 7 mile drive from home but we’ll worth it top top quality food with authentic spices will definitely be back many thanks bob and Wendy

The food is good better than any places in the UK but there are some comments, the vine leaves are canned or maybe it is not cooked enough, the hommus tastes canned too not fresh because it’s not smooth enough it needs a bit of garlic olive oil and tahini, the shawarma is delicious especially that the garlic sauce is authentic Lebanese thoum. Other than that everything is good and reasonable!👍

I have visited this charming place several times and it always has a lovely atmosphere. My favourites are the shawarma sandwich and grilled chicken kebab sandwich (shish). Great drinks options and I very much enjoyed my time there chatting with the staff there, who are very friendly and kind. I always try something new and I have not been disappointed - well worth a visit and highly recommended if you are around.

Absolutely delicious shawarma. Probably the best in all of UK. I travel a lot to eat and had shawarma all around the world honestly speaking found the authentic taste in Mejaz. And the portion is just wow. My fab is the special platter box. One more thing definitely needs mentioning which is Price , its so reasonable. Overall 10/10 in all aspects, keep it up guys.

Thw fries are great good service.. But the shawarma roll is mostly a vegan salad wrap.. Same goes to many items in menu

Its very popular place and service is quite amazing. Food portion is good, prices are bit high. Taste is good but not for people who like spicy food because shawarma was almost plain with no spice and have to put lot of sauces to finish it. Overall it was good but can be lot better in sense of taste.

Ordered a takeaway and it was delivered before the time stated and piping hot. Great portion sizes and the meat was good quality with authentic flavours. The tastiest mixed shawarma I have ever eaten. The actual wrap had a sensational ever so slightly crispy outer from the pan but was deliciously light with zero jaw ache! Add fried Halloumi for just £1! Super friendly staff and a cracking little take out. Well done team Mesaj and keep up the great work.

Tried lamb shawarma and it was extremely dry so that even vegetables couldn't save it. Also hygiene seems not that good as they touch food with bare hands without washing them

A friend recommended this place but I was not happy with the wraps they make. They call them Arabic/Lebanese Shawarma but it tastes nothing like that. I have eaten shawarma wraps made Lebanese/Syrians in Turkey and this has nothing to do with that. Disappointed. Prices a bit high compared to what is served. You can get better deals and food elsewhere.

Not sure if I just got them on an off day as I heard really good things about this place and was excited. But my shawarma wrap was terrible. It had no sauce, barely and salad, and was just full of the meat. Its a real shame because I wanted to keep coming back to this place

The effort and service coupled with genuine politeness tips the service into a very positive and warm place. We went to Mezaj following a recommendation. Ordering food was very quick and organised. Food was just another level of yummy. We really enjoyed the shawrma and the chicken shish. At the top of our "to go to" restaurant.

Tried the chicken shawaram here is my rating: 1. Fries 10/10 amazingly crispy 2. Shawarma chicken 5/10 (Chicken was stretchcy and not tender) The best shawarma i have eaten so far in Leeds is from labaneese bites to be honest.

I have been taking shawarma from this takeaway for last 10 years. Recently with the new owner the price went up by more than 10%. I ordered two mixed grills. The kebabs tasted better than last owners. But they removed garlic sauce, hummus and pickles from the salad. Without the spoon bite of garlic sauce and hummus, mixed grill kebabs taste very dry. The mix grill used to come with two bread, but now it comes with one bread. Most importantly some slices of chicken and shawarma were there. But they removed this as well. This should not be called mix grill at all. The garlic sauce was very tasty, but with the new owner this does not taste authentic Lebanese. Very disappointing. Now I will never have chance to taste the mixed grill that I used to enjoy. My son liked the chips though. Customer service was good. The cook gave me complementary hummus box when I asked for it. Thanks for this. But this should come with the mixed grill anyway.

I found this place online while looking for something different to the standard pizza and kebab places that are all over Leeds. After seeing the menu online I drove up to Hyde Park to the shop and was greeted by a friendly girl behind the counter. She talked me through the different items on the menu, I finally decided on the mixed Shawarma - (Roasted thin slices of marinated prime lamb & chicken, sesame oil sauce & garlic sauce, onion, parsley, sweet pepper & tomato) it was amazing! The bread was perfect, the chicken was tasty and the Lamb was the best Lamb Shawarma I've ever had, so soft and juicy. My friend had the Mixed Chicken - (Shish kebab, kofta chicken, chicken wings & shawarma chicken) served on Lebanese bread with salad. It looked amazing when we opened it, and he assures me it tasted amazing too. I'll be trying that next time. For dessert I had the Baklawa, this was amazing too! The girl serving me offered me some free beetroot slices to try, which was really nice of her. I have some Hummus and Lebanese bread to have tomorrow for dinner. If you're looking for a family run, Lebanese/Turkish place for food, give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
