My family and I’s favourite Chinese place we’ve got local! Staff are amazing everyone is so friendly - couldn’t get better service and is consistent each week. Food is to die for as well 10/10

We had went here tonight for the first time and will certainly be back. The restaurant is well desined and looks amazing as was the food, it was delicious and the services was fast.

This was our go too Chinese carryout restaurant unfortunately I don’t know what has happened but the last 2 carryouts have been very disappointing the beef dishes are of poor quality and the meat is tough the chicken is like rubber and the portions of noodles are dry tasteless I don’t know what has happened if it’s a new chef but it’s not the same quality that we have been used to. 2 out of 10 big improvements required.

Lovely decor and for such open space still had a good feeling albeit music sounded tinny Shown to table promptly and staff throughout were great Probably most limited menu of any Chinese restaurant I have visited when it comes to chicken dishes. Probably my fault for not checking the menu and being limited in what I like when visiting a Chinese restaurant. The shared platter was small for the price The main dish’s taste was good but again limited with the plate made busy with sliced onion peppers and noodles. All in all was pretty expensive considering we left the lovely surroundings still feeling hungry I can say I’ve had the experience but think this will b the only time

We found this place purely by chance a few months ago as we are from Ayrshire we were out a drive ended up in Larkhall and seen Shanghai dropped in and it was a gem of a place we have now returned with some friends who really enjoyed it as well so well done Shanghai Oriental you have a fantastic chef

Lovely food, quick service, nice surroundings, well worth a visit.

Firdt time trying here. Soon as we entered the place looked cosy staff were fast and polite seated us right away and asked if we would like drinks. They came with a small bowl of orawn crackers for free. We ordered from the set lunch menu my wife order chicken wings for starter and beef and asparagus for the main i had chicken noodle soup and katsu chicken curry. My wife loved the wings and enjoyed her main i tried the wings they were tasty and the beef from her main was soft and tasty. My chicken noodle soup was probably best chicken noodle soup i ever had and the katsu curry was tasy and chicken was nice crispy and juicy. Rice was normal fried rice nothing special in my opinion. Everything came fresh and hot!!! Also ordered a side of salt and chilli fries they were excellent one negative thoo i prefer thicker chips but tasted great.

Wow I have to say the place looks amazing and food to match. Been in a few Chinese restaurants in my time and this wouldn't be out of place in a major city centre food was brilliant. If I was being picky the menu little limited and the bowl of fried rice was barely enough for 1 person. Will definitely be back.

1st time hear despite being hear for so long, and damn I'm sad it was, absolutely fantastic meal we had the starters too all I wish is to eat it again, fantastic flavours and that just the 1st part, good prices too, happy pay extra for good food, will see u again soon thank Q!!

Place was spotless, staff very nice and helpful. Food was excellent. Will be back. Turf and surf excellent hot n sour soup yummy. Desserts great.

Decor and setting are very nice although the hard furnishings combined with large open space make for a noisy ambience. Our food was good with starter of mixed platter well presented and tasty. Mains were good although the sauces (lemon and kung po) lacked punch. The lemon sauce especially had very little flavour and made the dish fairly bland. Service was efficient and speedy (sometimes too speedy) with plates whisked away as soon as cutlery was down. A little smile and welcome from waiting staff would go a long way to adding some warmth to the place...there seemed a lack of delight or joy in their work. The lack of welcome at the door, replaced instead by a menu being handed to me with "you'll need to order before 6pm if you want the early offer" seemed to epitomise the priority of function over warmth.

Generally, I don't like marking restaurant down for service but unfortunately, I won't be the only one who has a gripe about this establishment's table time policy. I do understand if you have a small table and allocate 1-1/2 hours per table but if during service a table is having starter/main/sweet/wine, then the set time is clearly not enough. Staff need to be more conscious of customer requirements and adapt to suit. Throwing the bill in front of customers before they have time to order coffee and sweet is going to be your downfall. Your tip tonight was for the food only, adjust how you approach table times or you are going to lose customers, that's a fact !

Absolutely terrible didn’t even get to sit down and have dinner,kids running around the built in seats to the other side,mix up with booking and although have empty said they could give us a table…will not step foot in the place again,server wasn’t interested in what we had to say

Wow this has to be one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever been to and it's so nice looking inside and out, it looks like it should be in Mayfair! The staff are really friendly and the food tasted amazing. Really enjoyed it and will definitely return next time I'm working up there 💯

As always, I try a collection/ delivery before I do a sit down, coz if the meal in a bag that's no fresh and it's still nice..... then it'll be better on the sit-down fresh on a plate. Really great food, great service, and it's brand new, so top end bang on trend decor. As always, it's a bit too salty and sweet a cuisine for me, but I choose the meals that shouldn't need salt/sweet , so they have just about bearable S&S for me to enjoy them. It's not the best I've eaten, but the top end for the Chinese outta toon resterants I've tried so far.

Possibly the best Chinese Restaurant in the area for sure. Service could be a little better at times. For something local the decor is fabulous. I've also had takeouts, however this menu is way too small and should be a bit more varied for takeouts.

1st visit to this establishment. Food was delicious certainly return.

We visited during the week during Easter and glad we booked as it was busy. I went for the 2 course menu which had plenty of choice. Mrs went for a dried noodle dish in a nest which she enjoyed as well. Portion sizes, service, decor and atmosphere all very good. Would definitely recommend and will return again soon.

If I could rate this zero after recent service I would. Definitely won’t be back after visiting 5/6 times since opening the staff have became rude and obnoxious, bills never right and food missing from deliveries a few times as well.

We’ve had several lunch time visits here and the food is always excellent. Great value £12.90 for 2 courses. Always found the staff both courteous and friendly.

Very welcoming & the menu was really comprehensive. For lovers of Asian cuisine it really satisfied my tastes. The service was excellent & the staff were attentive without being intrusive. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely 💯% Amazing Food All was so tasty and Delicious Totally Recommend

Having had a lovely meal and also a take away from here before we returned for another take away the other night. Unfortunately we were disappointed this time as the chicken on the chicken satay skewers we had was very dry and stringy as if it had been sitting for some time before being used. Hopefully this was just a one off experience as the food has been very good before.

What an incredible find, a wee piece of gourmet Glasgow right in the heart of Larkhall. Stunning restaurant with beautiful design and atmosphere. Fabulous, fast and friendly service and absolutely delicious food. Cannot recommend enough.

Lovely place, great food, excellent value

My wife Karen, took me back here for my birthday meal and once again it was amazing! It is great not having to go all the way into Glasgow to have a nice meal. The food was amazing as it was last time, staff were wonderful and the service top notch. As for the price, fantastic value for money. If had gone into Glasgow, it would of cost us at least £25 more. Thank you Shanghai Orinental for an amazing meal. Be seeing you soon! 10/10!

All the above excellent. Personally found the 'music' a little intrusive - could be toned down. A most enjoyable experience worth repeating. Cost overall not at all painful.

The food was excellent , extremely tasty, and a huge menu to choose from , we all enjoyed our meals and felt it was good value for money. The staff were friendly and efficient, but we did have to ask for drinks on a couple of occasions and felt a little forgotten about.

Been to their sister restaurant in bothwell loads but first time here . Delighted to see it was opened New Year’s Day at 4pm . Thought it might be a set menu but it was a la carte only . The restaurant is lovely and spacious and has been decorated to a good standard . Now the food . We had all chicken satay then a main followed by teas/ coffee . The food was delicious. The mains were Hong Kong chicken. Pork belly and chicken curry . No complaints at all all fab. Now to my 2 gripes 1 . My pet hate …a 12% service charge ( assumed as it’s New Year’s Day ) don’t really care . I review hundreds of restaurants and i usually steer clear of any that put on a service charge ( I tip anyway so it’s the principal) . 2. The rice , noodles etc all come separately so it really makes it pricey . So 130 quid with only 1 alcoholic drink is pretty dear . I will be back but it will be for the set lunch menu at 13 quid.

Atmosphere was good but overall food was a bit lacklustre. Staff were okay too, visited when it was busy but did have to ask for certain things like drinks two or three times before they were brought to the table. Wouldn’t be rushing back to try again. Disappointed as have heard great things. Parking is very off putting too - only a few spaces round the back and very tight to get cars in and out of.

The food on 3 duck spring rolls with what i thought was blackbean sauce no it was black pepper sauce and the amount of jalapeños in all the food shoud be edible but for5 adults and a toddler it cost £355 oh and before i forget chech the 12 percent gretuity at the bottom of the menue that they cant wait to get away from u I spent £355 quid basically

We have just had our first visiit to the Shanghi Oriental, Larkhall and we were not disappointed from the service, food quality, portion sizes, value and ambience. We will return soon

Superb Chinese restaurant. The food and service are superb and it's very good value for money. Highly recommended.

Was rooting for this place. However, main complaint is total lack of customer service, When we queried bill (genuine query) this was met with complete arrogance and belligerence and she had vehemently argued that she had explained difference of taking from set and main menu which 7 of us know absolutely did not! She was so rude and made us feel we were in “the wrong” bad stuff young lady, you let your customers and your team down

Food and service was outstanding.

Disabled facilities need attention, used for storing cleaning equipment.!! Very low toilet, and nothing to dry your hands.

Food was nice, ordered a takeaway but was soo disappointed by the portions and the price they charged me. £56 and it was like all kids portion sizes. Ordered half crispy aromatic duck was more like a quarter portion, tiny tub of sauce had to ask for another and charged me £1 for that, rice tubs were pitiful, just feel completely ripped off for what I got which is a shame as the food was nice but unfortunately I won't be returning.

The food was of good quality. Smaller take away portions than other places, but the quality was tops.

We had a 3 course meal. Chili and salt chicken wings and squid. Duck in lychee and plum sauce with fried rice and chili and salt chicken with chili and salt chips. Banana fritters with maple sauce and ice-cream. The food is presented in a high standard and its delicious. The place has been decorated and designed to a high standard. Definitely the best Chinese in Larkhall.

Nice food, excellent service. First time trying Shanghai Oriental and really enjoyed the 2 course set price lunch. Had the spring rolls as a starter and the sweet and sour. Both were delicious. The only feedback I can give was regarding the portion size for the starter could have been slightly bigger. The staff were attentive, friendly and pleasant. The location looked nice.

Went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We've been before. Restaurant was very busy giving it a lovely atmosphere. We ate from the lunch menu and had starter and main course. The food was very tasty and served quickly. Shame we didn't get any Prawn crackers.

Overpriced for a two course meal, had the chicken curry and chicken noodle soup was ok.

Being very busy might account for the poor service but the food compensated. Still worth a visit.

Booked a table in advance as busy being newly opened. Lovely and friendly though noise level is distracting due to lack of soft furnishings to absorb noise. Food was excellent and service prompt, a little too prompt between starter and main. For the price point, it’s a little too speedy. Turn around for tables is 90 minutes max, I’d prefer less rush and a more relaxed meal. Tables a little too close given noise level. Will go back after Christmas once it’s more established.

Service was nonexistent. We arrived at lunchtime and hadn't booked ( I didn't think we needed 2 at 12 pm on a weekday). we were greeted with YOU DIDNT BOOK!! After a few minutes of looking at the tables we were shown to a table right by the door. They have a curtain round the door, but it only goes so far down, so every time the door opens, the curtains fly open, and u get a rush of very cold, fresh air. Btw it was freezing at that table. We waited ages for someone to ask us if we wanted drinks, which came quite quickly. However, we had to wait ages and asked 4 times if we could order. People who came in way after us ordered before us. The food came and was OK, nothing to write home about. The main corse was very small (very little meat) and was just dumped on the table. Not one person asked us if the meal was OK or if we needed anything else. Funnily enough, the bill came very quickly . I hope that they stay busy based on their name as meal and service does not live up to name! We won't be back!

We had a family lunch here and even though we were booked for 3pm we had the option of the business lunch menu. Food was exceptional, excellent service. The restaurant itself is probably one of the nicest interiors I’ve seen. There is an extra service charge for larger groups which we were not aware of but overall really impressed.

Our first time here,everyone was very friendly and the food was delicious and plentiful. We will be back.
