Place gone down not like before used to be good place to eat now it tastes horrible.

Over the last six months, I've been eating here every single week, especially after prayer time in East London Masjid, and every time I went in, I had this strange feeling of being in East London before, and one day it just hit me like bang. I remember my dad used to take me there when I was probably like five or six years old, back in the days when East London was totally different. The old shops down Fashion Street, shopping with my dad, and then I remember he used to take me there for a kebab roll, and those memories just came flying back. First and foremost, I always tell my friends and family before I take them there, don't be put off by the appearance. It may look like a cafe out of the 1970s, but honestly the theme is needed. Even the menus, the boards, showing the prices, they look like it was put up there before I was born. But once again, this rustic theme is needed to preserve the traditional look and feel of this place. My favourite go-to dish, as always, is the kebab roll, with that beautiful green mint sauce. This is a place where people don't sit there for a long meal. It's a quick go-in order, the food comes super quick, within minutes you eat, and then you continue on your journey, going to wherever you were going to. The food is very affordable, not like inflated like the other places around the area. A kebab roll is £3.50, and there's plenty of tap water in jugs which are changed regularly. Once again, the place may look outdated, but it is very clean. The two brothers that work there, they have been there since day one. One thing that really brings a smile to my face is the friendship that they have between them, even though they're busy and they're colleagues, they're always quite cheerful with each other and the customers. And they don't have any silly policy of minimum spend by card. If you eat a kebab roll, just pay with card, no problem. I'm a victim of habit, I always stick to what I eat all the time. Whenever I take my younger son there, he loves the chicken curry and rice. He says it reminds him of Dadhi's house, chicken curry. It's a place where I often go and spend time on my own there, just reliving those moments from the past. Amazing.

Asked for fresh food and they proceeded to open up a microwave and tried to reheat (who knows how many days old) halwa. Cutlery was dirty.

If you want good food at economical costs, this is the place, obviously don't go on a date here but for boys place it's good.

Royal shalimar, nothing royal about it. Rude staff and horrible food, considering they opened up today, will be surprised if there still here by the new year! Don't overcharge, and when your confronted don't give unnecessary attitude!

Great little find! Spotted it as I was walking past, does not look like the most impressive place, but trust me the food and hospitality are above and beyond. Original flavours, freshly prepared food and real service with a smile. Reasonably priced too!

Comfort lunch takeaway or just comfort food. One of the best biryanis you can find in London. £6 for lamb. £5 for chicken. Flavours can outmatch the expensive BYOBs near Euston Station. Even south asian colleagues buy their lunch here. I'm fact they were the ones who recommended the place. In an area like Whitechapel saturated with Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi restos it's a big challenge to find the right one. This is the right one. It's definitely not a date place, but the food is good and the price is great.

The staff at this place are disgusting. I've just watched a heart breaking video of the staff at this restaurant discriminating against a little disabled girl 😠.

We stumbled upon this place and had a great experience! Fantastic food. Not everything is pictured but we got the following: lamb kebab, garlic naan, vegetable samosa, meat samosa, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, meat curry, chicken saag. Everything was great, not too spicy at all so if u don’t tolerate spice well anything we ordered should be okay for you! Staff was very friendly. Extremely inexpensive and fast service. More of a cafe type restaurant with only a few tables, but we sat inside and it was clean and comfortable.

I have been coming here for I’m sure close to a decade!!! The food is authentic pakistani food without all the faffing around.. just good home food that satisfies your taste buds! My go to order every time without fail.. lamb biryani, chana, tandoori leg and keema samosa. The uncle who runs the place is a humble man and very kind and the staff too.. I have never been disappointed by their food or service! And it’s a family go to!!! The quality and price is unmatched.. I would recommend it 100%

I have been coming here for over 20 years. Always enjoyed the food, service and price is reasonable.

I've been dining at this establishment for as long as I can remember, even since I was a child, and I must say the consistent quality of their food has never let me down. While the restaurant may have a traditional and old-fashioned ambiance, trust me when I say that they put immense effort into crafting their dishes. Recently, I had the pleasure of trying their samosas and kebab roll in puri, and it was a nostalgic experience that brought back cherished memories. Without a doubt, this place is the best on New Road, hands down.

Stumbled upon this place by accident, tasty fresh food. This little hidden gem, has some of the most delicious currys. I ordered the meat Karai comes with salad mint sauce and rice. This restaurant resembles your typical English cafe but with a twist, they authentic Pakistani food. All this for less than a £10!!!! Highly highly recommended!!!!!

Best curry in the East End of London, and you will not find oldskool vibes like this. Not your commercial curry restaurant - but proper south-Asian Indian curry. Hidden Gem. Excellent service. You can’t find a roti place like this in London nowadays. The Only thing I advise to the owner is to change - stop allowing non-Muslims who come and eat in here, to bring/drink their own alcohol in here. They should respect the fact that this is a halal restaurant where alcohol is not served here, and they should not feel the need to bring their own alcohol at all. It is offensive to Muslims - so please stop this from happening in future. ✅

Had kebab roll. Thin skimpy and hard. Chutney was awful.

We got a vegetable samosa, kebab roll, chicken karahi and some bread/roti to go with the curry. The taste was absolutely spot on! Proper home-cooked style Pakistani cuisine. The service was on par as well, they cleaned up the table for us and then bought us some home made sauces and salad before the food was served. To top it off, we only ended up paying £11 something for the whole meal. Absolute bargain without compromise on service or quality.

Recently discover this hidden gem. This place is amazing! If you want back to basics good food at the best price in London then this is definitely the place to go! They don't emphasise on decor but their food quality is excellent and not greasy or too spicy. The staff were welcoming and despite the slightly rustic look, the place was clean. The food is authentic as it comes and the service is excellence and food arrives very promptly. They have a limited menu and if want modest yet quality food then this is certainly the place to come to. The Meat Saag and Chicken Curry is highly recommended and the roti and naan bread is freshly made and is one of the best around! Absolutely Delicious. My first and definitely not my last visit to this place, and looking forward to making this a regular spot and trying the other menu items!

Living in East London for the last 10 years, this is one of my very favourite places to eat. It has this old East End Pie Shop vibe and feel, like you are going back in time to the 90s. The Menu is simple, the food is simple yet delicious. I usually go for the Chicken Kebab Roll with Dhal, you get served with fresh naan, salad and sauce, the Chicken is hot, juicy and very tasty. The Dhal itself is soo good you could eat it on its own. The menu is priced very affordably especially for this area of, you could have a full meal for less than £10 here. Dont be fooled by the old interior of the shop, they still serve a great meal anytime of day. Cant wait to go back again next time Im there

Had a kebab roll. Nice and spicy and it was awesome. The tandoori chicken was fine. Their biryani looks nice and their bread options. So I will try that next time. Great price and next to the hospital. Defo coming again

Ordered a vindaloo for takeaway. It was one of the mildest curries I've ever had and for such a small box was very overpriced. The guy a couple of times got me to taste the curry to see if it was to my satisfaction but was hesitant and somewhat annoyed when I told him to make it more spicy each time. I'm paying for the meal so I wanted it to be to my satisfaction but it wasn't. I appreciate him allowing me to taste test the curry but it means nothing if you're not going to do what I'm asking you to do.

Still remarkable. Chicken Tikka here was a discovery for me. I usually have the Lamb Korahi with plain Nan, but recently have added the Tikka to my list of wants. Their Keema is also excellent! Deliveroo now operates here, so there's ample opportunity during lockdown. Close to Tayyab & Tiffin restaurants. Mixed Veg delicious! Astonishingly cheap!

This place should be considered as a takeaway with seating inside. It is not a restaurant by any means. Pros: Authentically Pakistani tasting food. Very cheap. Cons: Questionable hygiene practices. Not freshly made; your food is microwaved every time.

Visited for the first time from US, food was great and reasonable priced. Owner was friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend. I recommend Daal chawal and samosa and it was great.

The short balding guy keeps trying to sneakily add an extra £1 to £1.50 to the bill when I order, he has done it 3 times in a row so it is no accident at all. He thinks I don’t look at the card reader when I tap but I can easily check this on my app. The taller guy always charges the correct amount though. Dishonest with money, probably dishonest with food hygiene too. Will not be returning.

Stumbled upon this place whilst looking for some halwa puri on a Sunday and we weren't disappointed. In addition to halwa puri, we ordered lamb kebab, samosa, chicken biriyani, chana, keema curry and freshly made paratha. Everything was delicious and not too heavy or spicy. The staff were also welcoming and despite the slightly rustic look, the place was clean. The price was unbelievably cheap compared to other similar places nearby. The only thing that can be improved is the toilet.

Visited for first time today before a hospital appointment at Royal London. My teenage son had lamb naan roll, vegetable samosa, tandoori naan and onion bhaji. Really friendly staff, we had take out as we were in a rush. Restaurant very clean and tidy. Food was absolutely delicious, could taste really vibrant spices, miles away from processed food from chains. We are going to travel up to London again soon and will make a detour to Whitechapel to have a less hurried lunch. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!
