Seven Stars in Oxford

Just had Sunday lunch at the Seven Stars, with my wife and two friends. It was the best Sunday roast I have had in years, cooked to perfection, real very good compliments to the Chef. Lovely pub, and Staff , pub with an open fire, more could you want.

After visiting The Seven Stars for the first-time last month for a Sunday roast I can highly recommend! I enquired to book a Birthday Sunday roast for a large group at relatively short notice and Namit (the restaurant manager) instantly put my mind at ease. He was super prompt to respond to any questions and really made my husband’s Birthday dinner a success! As a party of 25 (adults and kids) our food was all brought out quickly and together. The food was absolutely delicious and many of us agreed it was one of the best roasts we had had in a long time! We had a fantastic experience thanks to a beautiful pub, delicious food and brilliant staff. Thank you SO much Namit, we can’t wait to come again!

We had a lovely Sunday roast meal at the pub. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we were quickly seated and asked for drinks to start. The food also came quickly and was very good. It is much nicer than your standard Sunday roast and the quality of the meat and veggies seemed very good. The pub is cosy and despite there being a lot of visitors we were well served and didn't have any issues getting the attention of staff for more drinks. Overall I think this is the best place in Oxford to go for Sunday lunches, although I have been here several times and they also do very good dinners and festive Christmas parties!

It’s slowly getting there… compared to my last roast here a month or two ago, it’s definitely better. The roasties were crunchy and the veg was great. The quality of the beef has reduced though, and the gravy lacked any real flavour. Yorkshires were a little over done, but not too bad. Overall, a good experience made better by friendly service and efficient service.

Absolutely fabulous meal here today. Namit accommodated my family (30 of us) to celebrate my mum's special birthday. The food was delicious, the staff so friendly and obliging, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much Namit & team we had a wonderful afternoon spent together for such a memorable occasion.

The Sunday roast was very good. My wife particularly enjoyed the roast beef. She said it was the best she’d ever had!! Thank you!

We have always loved the Seven Stars but since Namit & Sunit have taken over it has got better and better. From Indian bbq evenings with live music to a lovely Sunday lunch!! More recently we had our wedding reception there and we were so happy with the whole day-Namit and his team were fabulous, and our guests are still talking about how amazing the food was...specially the brisket!! Highly recommended the Seven Stars for a visit....you won't be disappointed!!

We had the most delicious pheasant pie supper tonight, with perfectly cooked vegetables, delicious, gravy, excellent pastry and very tender pheasant. Such a great place for an evening out and always looked after so well by the staff. Highly recommend the seven stars - absolutely incredible food

We have visited Seven Stars for dinner few times and it has always been a great experience. Thought of trying the Sunday roast this time and I must say was one of the best lunches ever. The meat was cooked to perfection and to finish it we all had desserts . Sticky toffee was fabulous. We will be back

Overall, good service, and acceptable food. Room for improvement with the roast, and as others have noted, it’s unfortunately not as good as it used to be. Potatoes were undercooked, quality of beef was mediocre, and yorkshires needed improvement. Vegetables were great though, and a really friendly team, with a nice atmosphere.

Food was nice as always but could be faster

Admittedly this is my local but generally speaking I think that pub roasts aren’t as good as home made ones. However, I ate here with some friends and family for lunch and it was excellent - we were all very impressed. I would thoroughly recommend this pub to everyone.

Pleasant midweek warm evening, sat outside. Bench seats not too comfortable for lingering anymore and no childrens' games as there used to be, so kids were bored. Food nice enough but not outstanding.

Delicious dishes, perfectly cooked, very friendly staff, traditional village pub including some classy food. The menu had variety and novelty as well traditional choices. The dishes were innovative and tasty. The atmosphere was buzzing and although busy, the reception was very friendly and the food arrived quickly.

The highest quality food I’ve had in some considerable time. Beautiful environment, exceptionally warm and welcoming staff, clean fresh and an absolutely delightful experience.

We went to the 7 stars for Sunday lunch and when we arrived we noticed some new faces around the bar when we first walked in. When I then looked at the menu I noticed the mixed meat roast was missing so I asked if there was new ownership, there was. My wife and I had scotch egg to start, unfortunately the sausage meat was pink. I’m sorry eating pink pork is not good. My wife’s egg inside was also undercooked both the meat and the egg. Then the roast potatoes were barley cooked,defo not like before. The Yorkshire pudding was tiny and overcooked. The veg was good and meat was decent quality. You had to pay £6 for cauliflower cheese and that was over cooked and mushy. When we get the bill I had to suggest that we should have something took off considering that I had to send the starters back with uncooked food. They did take some off so fair play but I shouldn’t have to ask really. It is also massively over priced for the size of the portion u get. They need to get the old cooks back in and rethink the cost of there food. It was busy but I don’t think this will last for long based on my experience.

We visited the Seven Stars for Sunday Lunch. The staff were very friendly and, overall, the food was very good. If you're a big eater, as I am for a Sunday Roast, then you may be a little disappointed with the portion sizes but they're big enough for most normal people. I had the chicken supreme. It wasn't chicken supreme as I would know it but there may be an understanding of what chicken supreme is that I'm not familiar with. I think that others may misunderstand this, so I think it would be worth qualifying when people order. Prices are reasonable and we would go back.

We happened upon this charming pub whilst touring southern England. Busy lunchtime but they kindly found us a table - even though we had no reservation. We enjoyed our delicious burger, fish and chips and veggie risotto. The triple cooked chips are superb!!! Best ever! Charming staff. Good atmosphere and nice garden! Highly recommended.

Called the restaurant at 5 minutes late and lady said “it’s on its way.” Then my husband waited outside and saw the driver at the wrong end of the road and was waving to him. I joined my husband and we watched the driver spend about 4 minutes there before calling me and I explained where we were and that we’d been waving. The driver had misread our address as number 20 when it is in fact 2D and he wasn’t wearing a mask and it wasn’t contactless; he handed the bag to my Husband from under 1metre away. All that being said, the food was beautiful.

Just a quick thank you for delicious fish and chips and outstanding service yesterday when we ventured out for our first pub lunch since God knows when. We went a couple of times pre-covid and it was excellent then. We're so pleased that it's survived and is bouncing back. The menu is full of good things but we had this yen for F&C. Thanks to all at the pub. btw the Harcourt Arboretum of Oxford University is nearby and lovely.

The food was amazing - good quality, decent sized portions, and tasted great. Delivery was on time. There was an item missing, however the restaurant offered to refund or redeliver it and included some complimentary sides.
