Best chip shop around. Lovely staff, especially the lady who has been there forever!! Definitely 5 stars!! Phone in order then pick up, always freshly cooked.

We travel up from Fife to visit and have never been disappointed in the food or service. Phoned ahead to save time waiting and the fish and white pudding supper were top notch !

Firstly Half an overcooked smoked sausage with 4/5 burned fritters £6:00 . Two Very Small Battered sausages with some chips £6:70 Very poor value for money and quality. 2 x fish suppers £9:70 each reasonable quality but poor value for money. Not sure what has happened this place used to be exceptional for both quality and value for money. NOT ANY MORE SADLY.

You still have a review saying the food was disgusting but this was in 2018, I have been a few times recently , the fish and chips etc are cooked to order and are excellent both for taste and value for money. I would ask the person who wrote this review to give it another try.

Very dissappointing! I haven't been there for months and fancied a steak pie supper. All I can say is the pie was brick hard and very dry. The chips weren't good either. The young boy asked me if I wanted salt and vinegar to which I said yes please. Could not taste any salt OR vinegar. Steak pies (the oval ones) used to be really good from there. Think it will be a while before I'm back.

Had a number of horrible visits from chip shops in 'the Ferry' ventured to the Seaway in Monifieth. Welcomed by two pleasant young lads who were very polite, surprised by the price as it came in £20+ cheaper than Broughty Ferry. Had a good look and the place was immaculate will definitely be back! Thanks lads you are a credit 🙂 really enjoyed our meal

This Fish and chip shop was always on my top of my list when I visited Monifieth. What a shock I got when I returned last week. The attitude was appalling to say the least I got haggis and a fish supper for £11. 10p the portion size of chips was ridiculous I noticed the previous customer had a reasonable portion size, so I complained to the lady who was serving me. She snapped back and said if you are not happy I will give you your money back, well we had waited a wee while on the order and was starving so I accepted them. When we got back to eat them the fish batter was soggy and welded to the paper the chips were dry and tasteless the fish was ok and the haggis was very dry. you could put as much vinegar & sauce as you like it would not make any difference..I will certainly be giving this place a BIG MISS !!! in future.

What an absolute fantastic chippy, we ordered 2 fish suppers and the food was cooked to order so when we got our food it was freshly made and very hot. Fish was excellent and lovely crispy batter, chips were also very nice golden and fluffy. Would highly recommend 10/10

Well worth the wait for quality freshly cooked food when in the area. Sometimes we phone ahead with our order which saves waiting. Love the fish and chips and white puddings.

The new owners have made this good chip shop into an ordinary and particularly slow one. Whereas before service was fast as food was always ready, everything is cooked to order, and very slowly: 35 minute wait this week. Previously food was pre-cooked and service fast, no lingering and waiting. Instead of following the twins model, the new owners have adopted a cook to order policy - its a chip shop, not a Michelin star restaurant! The owners fail to realise that part of the popularity of the Seaway was high quality and quick service and no waiting; that popularity ensured that there was a high turn over of food and thus mostly freshly cooked. Please go back to being a good chippy rather than the sad mess it has become. Great however if you like waiting and milling around a dank and grubby corner of Monifieth waiting for something average. A classic example of ruining something that was good - have the courage to change back to what your customers previously enjoyed, and that made the Seaway so popular.

This chippy is always busy. Mask on, go in, place your order , you’ll be given a number, wait outside and then pop in to collect your order when your number’s called. A small fish and chips is plenty for me but my husband enjoys the normal size portion. Friendly efficient staff .

Worst end to a perfect day. Ordered white pudding supper, king rib supper, single smoked sausage, salt and vinegar on everything but the smoke sausage, brown sauce on white pudding supper. Now home to caravan, holidays, no salut and vinegar on anything, brown sauce on everything, white pudding chewy, king rib like none other tasted before. 13.70 and in the bin, thanks

The customer service was awful, 1 person rushing about trying to cook, serve and take orders at the same time. Shocking

Ate from here last night and after reading the reviews was disappointed my dressed fish was undecooked and tasteless the batter was googhy not very pleasant Had high hopes but unfortunately it didn't happen the chips were good and so were the fritters. They usually say a busy chippy is a good chippy this one was just average

This used to be superb but has consistently gone downhill since it changed ownership a few years ago. The last straw was when I was given the wrong food and not offered replacement or a refund. I was a regular customer (weekly) but now just occasionally (twice a year) return to see if it has got any better.

Had excellent Fish and Chips last night. Service was quick and friendly and all in all great! Will be back 🙂

This was a childhood favourite of my other half so we always visit when back in the area. Sausage and chips were tasty and well cooked. Service was decent and organised.

So so sad to have a young man inform me Margaret "was off as she gets a bit moany so we gave her a day off" hmmm so ordered my sausage supper waited which was fine as good to get fresh chips. As I waited others started to order and the young man was very excited upon a large order being placed by another customer (yes I know it's a business but my fiver is hard earned too) then teenager's appeared ordering away. I asked politely when my supper would be ready and was told again waiting on chips but then they started dishing up the customer's who had ordered after me. I asked for my money back. The young man did apologise and offered me the supper for free. I don't think so.. I'll get a sandwich from tesco. Won't get a penny of my hard heard money again. That young man could do with a lesson in loyalty. You should be ashamed of yourself

When this chip shop changed ownership we were sad to see the brothers go but on trying it out under its new owners we were delighted with the quality of the food. Unfortunately the standards have not been kept up.Tonight my fish supper had the smallest piece of fish I have had in a long time and the chips accompanying it were what could only be described as crumbs. If I had not been so hungry it would have gone back.Please, when taking on a new place, keep the standards the same. Very, very disappointing.

Having moved away from the Monifieth area some time ago, I have been getting fish and chips locally. However I was in Monifieth tonight and decided to get my fish supper from Seaway for old times sake. Despite having a longer journey home, my food was far better than I get round here. The taste and texture of the fish was different class, and the chips were better too. The new owners have certainly upheld or even surpassed the previous standards. It is once again my favourite chipper! Still the same great friendly service, thanks Margaret et al.

We used to go here every time for fish and chips but after today we will not return. This is our first visit since new owners and the chips were clearly reheated friom yesterday ( we went just after they opened) and the fish was 80% batter. So disappointed. Guess we will need to go a little further for decent fish and chips now.

Trip up from Edinburgh the staff are amazing and super friendly the price and portion sizes in my opinion are very fair. Doing a great job guys! Plus! They wrap your food in newspaper..... amazing! Loved that touch.

For many years now my family have use The Seaway. Was sad when the last owners retired, but still enjoy a fish supper on a Friday or Saturday night

My mum always liked this chippy, but I never did but still I always went for her because she liked it and it was just up the road! So I paid my £14quid for two fish supper's expecting the same but wow I never hardly spoke as I scoffed my supper! Was so good! I don't think previous owners seasoned the fish and the batter was always tasteless, crunchy but no flavour.. But yes!! It's so much better and will be my go to place if I can't be bothered to drive to Peppo's Arbroath! They must have got tips? Fish was fantastic!!

Writing this after having our last fish and chips from the present owners before they retire. Over the years we have never been disappointed with our take away. Tonight was testament to how popular this chip shop is as the queue was outside the shop. We look forward to the new owners carrying on the same high standards and the retirees having a well earned rest.

Our Church Guild hosted a Fish Supper Night recently. I placed an order for 30 meals the night beforehand and paid upfront requesting delivery about 8.15. On the night I had to add another meal to the order. No problem. All meals were delivered right on time (no extra charge), hot, fresh and lovely with dry and crispy batter and chips - not soggy and greasy like some fish and chips. We even got a freebie of pickled onions ! A lovely touch and much appreciated. The service was absolutely superb and when I first asked if this was possible, it was no problem whatsoever. Everyone enjoyed their suppers and a definite again for next year !

The chippie has been a staple for our 20 years in Monifieth (it has been there longer than us).Friendly staff, quality ingredients - and massive fritters!Open every day of the week, and usually can get parked right outside, unless it is a Friday evening - then busy and queued out the door - but still efficient service.

Great local chippie. Been a regular for years, just never gotten round to reviewing. Batter is always nice and crispy and whatever I’ve ordered has been tasty, whats not to like? and it is triple wrapped with grease proof paper, brown paper and news paper ( not a cardboard or plastic carton in sight )

Friendly service and in my view the best Fish and Chips in the county of Angus. This is a takeaway. What more can you say. I travel 4 miles to this takeaway because it beat s all the local ones.

Went to the seaway today for 6 fish suppers and a white pudding supper as the family had been celebrating our grandsons birthday and we couldn't be bothered cooking tea. Despite the large order, I didn't have to wait at all. Service was excellent and they still wrap in newspaper ( big bonus points)! The suppers were fantastic and we can all recommend this chippy.

Living in Monifieth for 20 years now this is our local chip shop. We are regular customers and would highly recommend it. My favourite is a fish supper!!

The fact that I was recommended this chippy by two different people in the space of twenty minutes says it all. The portions are not massive and the prices aren’t the cheapest but I think they may be the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was lovely and the chips were superb. I’ve had a lot of fish and chips in my time and I’m not sure these will be beaten!

New to the village and we were recommended to try the Seaway by locals in the Vault Pub, we went through at 9pm and were served by a very smiley lady called Margaret who quickly made friends with us, asked if we were visiting as she had never seen us before, we chatted about moving from down South and were made to feel like real regulars, thank you for making us feel so welcome, we had 2 fish suppers that we took next door to eat in the pub, Margaret offered us napkins and told us to tell the bar maid to have a gin and tonic waiting next door for when she finished at 11, which we did and were happy to hear from the bar staff that "she will definitely come through" she did and we loved our chat and food. we will be back, AGAIN AND AGAIN!!

Visit this chip shop often, the food is lovely and you always get a warm welcome from Margaret who has worked with the twins from the beginning, ask her anything about you or your family she will know the answer. I have tried a lot of the choices but my favorite by far is a white pudding supper and a portion of curry sauce. the twins are nice guys and you always feel welcomed. well done guys and girls, keep doing what you are doing and i'm sure people will keep coming back.

This is not a restaurant but a take away. The service and staff are very nice. There is not much more i can say as it is a fish and chips shop.

A great chippy, friendly staff, very clean and lots of choice. I know most people go to a chippy for fish but the chicken suppers here are my favorite. fresh cooked on the day, not the usual pre cooked dried up number, they usually sell out by early evening and not only on tuesdays. The best chicken supper I have ever eaten.

Good food freshly made. Fantastic fish in a lovely crispy batter. Pensioner portions available. A large and varied menu along with soft drinks. Well worth a visit.

Have used this place for the last 15 years.The business is family owned and its not changed hands the same owner with the staff who are super friendly and polite

This place needs some competition. I was violently sick after my fish supper as was my partner who had a king rib. We were served so quick. Everything was ready and in fairness looked like it had been there a long time. Have noticed before that nothing is cooked to order which is slightly concerning. Arbroath just 10 miles away and everything fresh. Will never ever go back to this place. Still feel sick!!!

Living in Monifieth we find this Fish Shop by far the best in our post Code. The fish always tastes amazing and is cooked piping hot. Best enjoyed after a few wee drams in our local pub The Crown Braw Aye 😜

Always guaranteed excellent Fish n Chips or any other supper. The twins have been part of Monifieth for such a long time now and they are well regarded. The food is always good and we travel 15 miles to Monifieth rather than using a local Chipper.

Was starving last night after the football and went in and got myself a cheeky wee black pudding supper and four pickles!

Third time eating here and has not disappointed yet. Haddock always delicious, amazing crispy batter and yummy chips, great!!

Me encantó la tienda chip mejor con diferencia por millas. Pero el pasado ha sido mayormente pescado dos veces pasta muy finas y su suerte si consigues 8 - 10 patatas fritas reducciones no es bueno. Siento que acaba perdido un cliente 😢

Mejor pescado cenas alrededor. Propiedad familiar con excelente menú - chippie siempre gran comida de calidad recién fritos. Incluso mejor cuando comes por el río Tay en el cercano seaway azul

Best chippy going. Been going for years and not had a best meal. Nothing too much hassle, staff will be happy to please with order. Very friendly staff with great owners. Clean and tidy.

What a rip-off ! Ask for large chips, pay £2.50 and get barely enough to feed a hamster. NEVER AGAIN. Rather go to Fisheracre Chipper Two over the road, they give DECENT sized portions !

Haddock and chips... best I've eaten in years. Hand cut chips that don't wilt after 5 minutes, crisp, light batter with no evidence of soggy bits, fresh and fleshy pieces of haddock. I'm hooked on the fish but pretty sure other items on the menu would be just as tasty!

Staying at Caravan site nearby and nipped in for a couple of Fish suppers. Short wait as it was all cooked fresh but worth it, excellent fish and chips..will use again when in the area..

The fish and chips here are always good value. It is such a busy place that you are always likely to be served freshly cooked fish. The prices are also reasonable. Best in Monifieth.

Excellent traditional "chipper" range of food, mock chops, battered sausage, fritters and some of the best cooked fish you will taste.

This is my favourite fish and chip shop in Monifieth by a mile. You always get great food, it is always properly cooked, the service is always friendly, accurate and efficient and the prices are reasonable too. The ones by the shore in both Broughty Ferry and Arbroath are pretty good too but, if you live in Monifieth, you can't go wrong with this place. It's an institution !

When it is good, it can be very good, but very inconsistent and at times, rubbish.Last time there, batter was soggy and chips all stuck to the bag.Risky at best!! Much better chippers in local places like Arbroath and St Andrews.

I have visited the Seaway for over 30 years and it has never faltered. I remember a portion of chips being 15p. The twins and their staff have always offered excellent food and fabulous customer service. I always make sure I pop in when I am down visiting my parents in Monifieth and after all those years I am recognised as soon as I walk in to door. A wonderful warm welcome. Thank you guys.

If you have a fish supper from the seaway only as a special treat then be rest assured that even if you had one every day it would still be just as special. The staff are always really pleasant which in itself is somewhat unique these days , often service these days is provided with only what they really have to ask or a grunt. Can't recommend it highly enough

This chip shop sells delicious food which is usually cooed when you arrive as it disappears fast! I recommend the fish, white puddings which appears to be an East coast special.

I've been a regular (once a month or more) visitor over the last 25 years. Another chip shop has opened not far away and I haven't even tried it. Why? Because I reckon the Seaway is just about as good as as a fish and chip shop can be.There is nothing fancy about it. There is no kebab machine, no pizza ovens - just traditional fiah and chip shop fare.The shop has recently had a makeover, including a new chip range. Thankfully, the fried food is just as good as ever.

Wat can I say about the Seaview ....everything excellent I might say ...owners cook everything fresh ...batter perfect consistency..excellent service by all the staff who always have a smile on there faces ...ye nothing wrong can be said about this fast food outlet ..keep up the excellent job people ...

I remember when these young guys took over this Chippy and the improvements they made way back then, and they have continued to improve, whenever I get home I crave a Chicken Supper, its like no other, and the Haddock has to be the best too. Great long serving staff that always give a warm welcome, looking forward to my next visit already!

This has to be the best chip shop in the world, freshly prepared food always provided with good chat and a smile, staff are always friendly and nothing too much bother, if you are in the area and haven't tried the seaway then get in soon, you won't be disappointed.

Just popped in for tea . All been refitted and looking great. Staff always pleasant. Mozzarella sticks are new to the menu so had them as well as my fish. Brilliant

Absolutely great Fish & Chips, served in traditional newspaper!! Even better we went down to the local beach and ate our fish suppers as the sun set over Monifieth.Had to put this as the 2nd best F&C shop as the No1 is Libo's Fish & Chips in Cupar, Fife!!

this is a braw wee place too come too for something to eat prices are all reasonable and there open quite late as well
