Seahorse Seafood Bistro and Restaurant in Conwy

Lovely friendly atmosphere. Staff couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The food was exceptional,very tasty and reasonable in price. Thank you you made our evening feel special.

After almost 20 years visiting this little gem in Llandudno we ate there on Sat 24 Feb. On arrival we were very disappointed to see the usual fish board for starters and mains was all about steaks : 2 for £65 with a bottle of wine. Scallops a special together with a salmon and monkfish with mushrooms special. When we asked the waitress about the seafood she more or less said people want the seafood linguine. We asked about other fish ie crab, fresh Conway mussels, lobster, swordfish etc and she just replied it’s what we can get.! The scallops were tasty but a £5 supplement on top of the £35 for 2 courses. My salmon was just over based with garlic butter and the monkfish too herby with the seasoning and the mushrooms and tempura leeks made tge who dish greasy Such a shame as the place not at all busy and we sat as always downstairs in our costs. The wines were the same as when Don ran the restaurant. Next time we’ll ring ahead to see what fish is on the menu before booking

It's logical to assume this is a fish restaurant but it does a combination of both fish and mead. A total 3 of the 5 seafood dishes however, were ''off because of half term''. No stocks in the freezer obviously. Place very tatty, particularly the carpets and the outside areas. They did however have a couple of fabulous blinds which ironically depicted scenes of Cornwall villages....rather odd as the restaurant is in Llandudno. Toilets need a complete overhaul....it doesn't matter how clean you think they are, cracked tiles and clumps of soap over same just makes it and you feel dirty!

This was our 1st visit to the restaurant and will certainly not be our last. We all had the 3 courses for £38 / absolutely fantastic value for money. The portion sizes were very big and the quality of the ingredients superb. I cannot praise all the staff who attended our table - friendly and polite and very efficient. Communication prior to booking with the owner Theresa was excellent. We sat downstairs part of the restaurant - it was very quaint and cosy. Keep doing what you’re doing!

Disappointing! Very small menu & even smaller dishes. For a seafood restaurant the menu had no shellfish included at all. I started with garlic mushrooms (definitely not a dish I expected to have) followed by the John Dorry with scallops for £32. I had to stop off on the way home as I was still hungry.

Lovely food with plenty of variety and individual dishes. Hadn’t realised it had changed hands last year but it’s as good as ever. Very pleasant and professional staff. We always book in advance as it’s usually full.

This is a top end restaurant, top quality food, service, ambience, at reasonable prices, lovely attentive staff. This is a dining experience.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at this restaurant tonight. We loved our scallops and black pudding starter, the John Dory with dauphinoise potatoes mains, and the cheeseboard. The draught ale was perfectly kept, and there was a good selection of quality wine. We were served by delightfully efficient waitresses, and will definitely revisit if we return to Llandudno. We were a little bit perplexed by some of the recent critical reviews as we ate in the downstairs area and found the atmosphere there to be very friendly and comfortable.

Really enjoyed our night out on my Wife’s birthday at the Sea Horse. Beautiful birthday decorated table, very cosy, great service and very sincere. We really enjoyed our three course meal, fabulous flavours and generous portion sizes. Garlic mushrooms were lovely and the steak was perfect as was my seafood Linguine.The crème brûlée was one of the best I have ever had. Thank you. We will be back on our next visit to Llandudno!

I went here for my tea as we wanted something fancy to finish of the night i came here with my partner and it was excellent we had the best time the food was beautiful and the waitresses were very kind it was an amazing experience it was my second time coming and i hope to visit once more

What’s happened !!!! Been going for several years but Saturday night I really didn’t enjoy Scallops small and tasteless Cod and dauphinois potatoes just bland add some seasoning !! This is a expensive restaurant but I don’t feel it’s up to scratch now has it changed hands ?? Chef ?? Staff lovely but food not scallops tasted frozen small type and gritty the sauce total let down on both dishes

Our second in recent years visit first time a few years ago it was fantastic back then. last night however waited 45 mins to get food order Both my wife's starter scallops and black pudding and main course were gritty and obviously the scallops hadn't been washed thoroughly. We sked for bottle of white wine when we arrived wine got a glass it wasnt properly chilled . Then for me the starter haddock chowder. I had to ask for soda bread that should of accompanied it as it was missing my main john dory in lemon saffron was perfect with beautiful aldentee veg. Then the bill. They had put down two bottles of wine bumping the price up. Its got potential but consistently in preparation and basics like chilled white wine hot food not lukewarm food should be norm at this price point. A string of things tonight made what should of been the highlight to our 3 day stay in llandudno a damp squib.

We stayed in Llandudno for one night and really fancied some seafood or fish. We were recommended this restaurant by friends and it didn’t disappoint! This was a cosy & welcoming restaurant with a really interesting menu and an excellent wine list. There was a set meal and you could choose from one, two or three courses. We both had the scallops & black pudding starter which was well worth the £5 supplement, the scallops were cooked perfectly. My husband had the Seafood linguine in a coconut curry sauce & I had the cod stuffed with crab and spinach. Both of our main courses were absolutely delicious and were very substantial especially with the included sides of Dauphinois potatoes & fresh vegetables. The two lovely young ladies serving us were an asset to the restaurant and our whole dining experience was memorable. We can’t wait to go back on our next visit to Llandudno.

This must be one of the best restaurant I have been in my life I am 60! That’s saying a lot. Great friendly couple and 2 lovely waitresses. The food is amazing to tasty and fresh! Double thumbs up!

We booked this venue for an 80th birthday celebration. From the initial conversation the service and communication was exemplary! The lady who organised the celebration for our party of 12 was friendly and contacted us several times to make sure all was as we expected. We arrived to find a beautifully prepared table, a warming fire and tasteful birthday helium balloons that we had not requested and were not charged for. It was a small touch but was really appreciated. It is difficult to please our extended family with varying ages (16 to 91 ) different favourites and tastes, but this food exceeded all of our expectations. We chose from a varied and great value 3 course set menu and were all blown away with the taste and quality of the food. The chef is exceptional and it is the best quality food that we have experienced in years (and we are foodies). The chowder, duck and lamb were the firm favourites but all were fabulous! We travelled from Shropshire for the celebration, but will be making the journey to return, it is will worth the travel! Thank you for making our celebrations memorable!

This has been my favourite restaurant for over 18 years. I didn’t realise that it had changed ownership. Unfortunately the service was poor with very inexperienced staff. The starters were nice, however my medium rare fillet steak came well done. It was a very small fillet steak served with bland veg. It used to be a luxurious, flavoursome, rich, thick cut fillet. Very disappointed. This restaurant always had such amazing flavours in all their dishes. Unfortunately this is not the case now. I certainly won’t be returning. Very sad after all these years to see the quality fading.

Returned tonight and having not eaten at the seahorse since June 2023, and we were throughly impressed yet again with the quality of the food the portion sizes the level of service and the politeness of all the staff, the new owners have certainly enhanced the restaurant’s excellent reputation. The new owners Theresa and Adrian and their team are working hard to make their restaurant the best in Llandudno and North Wales. Keep up the good work and thank you for a lovely meal and night. Sadly our visit was a flop. Firstly we had booked a table upstairs, that wasn't honoured. Our table was up against the wall in a really tight space, two bench seats with very narrow table for 8. If you needed to get out, everyone had to get up. It was very cramped and as someone with mobility problems I was in pain throughout. We arrived at 8, nobody came to us, not even for a drinks order. 40 minutes later we were asked if we were ready to order food. We asked at that point could we order drinks. We ordered 2 bottles of prosecco and after 5 minutes were asked if we wanted full or mini bottles, for 8 people! The food order was taken and prosecco arrived, unopened, minus glasses. After a further 10 minutes we had to go and ask for glasses. They arrived and we decided to order wine ready for the meal in advance, noticing there were not enough wine glasses we asked for them too. The extra glasses never arrived, we eventually took them from another set table. Starters were actually nice, mains for most part were lovely. However I ordered the fillet of beef with no sauce, when it arrived it had peppercorn sauce. I told the waitress who took it away, returning in minutes. I actually asked did you just run that under a tap as a joke, she said we had a spare! Mmm. The tomato on the beef still had sauce on it, also although my steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, it was very waterey! We ordered sweets, I ordered brownie, but my preference is cold and I asked for it cold, only a small issue but it came warm. Credit though it was lovely. On top of all this, to add insult to injury, other diners who arrived after us were served before us. Other tables around us were attended to constantly while we were ignored. I feel bad writing this and hope they sort things out, but for me never again.

We visited this restaurant on a short break to North Wales a few weeks ago. We had a lovely meal, the food was of a very high standard. The restaurant had recently changed hands and so we felt the new owners were just finding their feet. Staff were rather inexperienced but very willing to help. The chairs had white chair covers over them which didn’t look right and were awkward to sit on. The owner came out and had a chat with a couple on the next table who had a few very minor gripes which was good, seemed very willing to put things right. All in all we had a lovely meal and would definitely visit again.

Booked a family lunch for my MIL's birhday. Arrived to find the table was decorated with balloons & bottle of prosecco for the birthday "girl". Each course was freshly cooked and of great quality. Staff were helpful and attentive, couldn't fault them. Everyone enjoyed very much and I would have no hesitation in recommending......definitely will be back.

Only reason I gave this 2 and not 1 is because of the waitress Hayley! We were rudely welcomed and then seated with no menus, Hayley very quickly saw to us and changed this. The starters were alright, nothing great considering we paid an extra £4 for the scallops. The main we ordered the lobster and crab ravioli which was a special, by no means atall a special dish, meat tasted canned and not atall of lobster or crab and the pasta tasted old. I found a loan blueberry in my seafood linguine, how? The wine and the waitress Hayley sort of saved this meal. Hayley was absolutely brilliant and would of gone out of her way to help us, thankyou! Rest of it was poor.

Quite superb. My partner and I dined last night and it was undoubtedly the best seafood we have eaten in a long time. There is ample choice on the menu, which is priced by the number of courses eaten, but a very inviting specials board proffered up some superb seafood dishes and combinations. Some of these carried a supplemental charge, as one might expect. My mussels starter was outstanding, with just the correct amount of acidity. My main dish of hake with lobster bisque was perfectly executed, rich and smooth bisque partnering a firm piece of hake. A choice of one side dish is included, I opted for creamy velvety Dauphinoise. Wine choice was from a special cellar selection, and service was attentive and informed. Younger members of the service team were enthusiastic and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I’d highly recommend Seahorse to anyone wanting some discerning seafood dining in Llandudno.

Since 2018, as a local, this restaurant was one of our 1st choices for a meal out. It's now under new ownership and our latest experience ensures we will not return again. Booked a table for 5pm and stipulated we wanted it all evening which we were told was OK. The young waiting on staff, although pleasant, seemed very inexperienced. At one point another member of staff (a Chinese lady who I am lead to believe is the new owner) was rudely barking instructions to our waitress. At 7:30 pm the Chinese lady rudely told us that the table had a booking and that we must leave, despite us not having finished. The diner with the 7:30 booking (apparently a regular) then proceeded to harass us, standing at the end of our table being aggressive. This was distressing not only for members of my party but also other diners who approached us later. We approached the manager to complain about the aggressive man demanding that we leave, stating that when we booked we were told we could have the table all evening. The restaurant did absolutely nothing to manage any aspect of the situation. We decided to leave and have our coffee and liquors elsewhere.

Ooops ! I seem to have left a review for Snooze by mistake. Fantastic night on the 8th of September. Called in to book, Chef told me he had some line caught sea-bass coming in the next day, and some large lobsters.. we reserved one of each. I think the place has changed hands , and you can tell. The Seahorse is a lovely place to eat. The food was fantastic, portion sizes were just right, and the quality of the food was very high. Service was very good and the waiting on staff were efficient and pleasant. My wife and I could thoroughly recommend eating at the Seahorse, you would not be disappointed.

We visited the Seahorse yesterday and the food was delicious. The service was professional and friendly. They organised a Happy Birthday balloon and confetti and made us feel really welcome . The sea bass and hake was delicious as was the Coquilles St Jack and fish cake for starters.

I'd like to start by saying I'd probably give a 3.5 stars BUT I have upgraded to 4 stars as I think I maybe don't appreciate seafood enough and so am not truly the target audience. Arrived through the downstairs area - which was lovely and rustic. Our table was upstairs though, which I didn't like as much - white table cloths and the tables are very close together. All staff were lovely and friendly - maybe a little too eager and we had someone new asking us a question every 30 seconds for the first five minutes or so. It's a set price menu - I believe at the time we went it was £25 for one course, £29 for a main and dessert, £32 for starter and main and £37 for three courses (may be slightly wrong on those). For me, that's quite pricey (some selections also had supplements) and think £30 for three courses is more reasonable. My husband had scallops to start (£4 supplement) and I should say they were absolutely gorgeous and meaty - really nice. We both had the cod stuff with spinach and crab, mine with new potatoes and veg, his with potato dauphinoise. I would've liked the option to have veg (at no extra cost) with all potato options, and was a bit disappointed with my small amount (2 slices of carrot, a floret of broccoli and one green bean). The cod was a huge piece and cooked really nicely - crisped skin and nice and flaky. I was disappointed with the crab - it was tasteless. I did fancy sorbet for dessert but unfortunately they hadn't got any, so went without. The list of other desserts looks tasty though. We did pay £8 for two small diet Pepsi's (I am guessing poured from a larger bottle of Pepsi and so quite flat). I'd say £3.50 each was usually the norm for draft soft drinks elsewhere, so would've expected to be slightly cheaper if not draft. Overall, although I enjoyed my food on the whole, I wouldn't return as I feel I could get a better meal for the same money elsewhere (to my tastes).

Amazing!! My son and I went to the Seahorse during our stay in Llandudno. My son wanted a 'fancy meal' to finish off our stay, and the Seahorse did not disappoint!! The lobster bisque was gorgeous and fresh and the scallops and black pudding, cooked to perfection!! The skin on the duck was crisped to perfection and the Hake fell to pieces and was packed with flavour. The chocolate brownie was also a huge hit with my son. The food would have gotten 5* for all the above reasons, but if there was an option for 6/7, I'd have given it to the restaurant. The owner (unknown to us) was sat on the table next to us and over heard my son (10 yrs) ask for the lobster thermidor for his main (£25 supplement), to which I said no. On bringing our main up, the waitress also brought the lobster thermidor, compliments of the owner who thought my son was a lovely polite young man and wanted him to have his first lobster experience. Made me cry! I have to say the lobster was incredible and I have no idea how my son managed to fit in a desert!! The staff were so friendly and lovely. The chefs even came up to see my son and brought up two cooked lobsters for a picture opportunity. The food and staff were fab without the extras on top but thank you for making my sons experience such an incredible one. When we come back to Llandudno, we'll certainly be coming back! The lobster bisque was out of this world and the best I have ever had, and seafood has been my favourite food for 45 years! Some items were no longer available and the restaurant was very busy, all testimony to how good this restaurant is. The service was equally perfect, impeccable, prompt and extremely friendly and efficient. The restaurant is a little cramp but this is a mere small detail well compensated by all the numerous assets that this wonderful gem of a restaurant has to offer. The chosen decor is also very well coordinated and conceived, in all sea-themed manners. I shall never forget the wonderful and unmatched experience of having eaten at this restaurant, and I shall return most definitely!
