Scotts at Largs in North Ayrshire

Starter was Gambas Pil Pil. Completely over cooked. Main was Beef burger. Worse tham McDonald's. Plain, tough. Both were overpriced for very poor quality.

Today, I had an amazing experience at Scotts Largs, celebrating my 6 month old daughter's first trip to Scotland with a group of 20 people. The staff was very helpful and the set menu food was delicious. Mia, our waitress, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Thank you for creating a memorable day! Highly recommended.

The staff, venue were excellent The steak was really disappointing in quality and the way it was cooked, we asked for medium rare and got medium to well done My boy had a burger and said it was good, I gave him a try of the steak without passing comment, he said it wasn't up to the standard we buy in Lidl and it was overcooked The restaurant did have a nice atmosphere and I would eat here again but I would avoid the steak

This is restaurant that in the past my family has visited and thoroughly enjoyed which lead them to taking me and my partner there for my 40th birthday celebrations. From the beginning they claimed to not have our booking even though we had electronic evidence of it being made. We struggled to get the attention of the barman to get a drink as we had to wait for our table. When at table we found the waiter service to be very slow throughout our visit even as the restaurant got quiet with only a few patrons left. Also the food provided was below standard such chips under cooked, salmon undercooked, undercooked lamb, cold peas etc and wrong items provided such as asking for tap water and being provided with mineral water, also a smashed burger was ordered and a normal burger was provided. At the end of the service we ordered another round of drinks and they weren’t provided as ordered as we waited more than 15-20 mins for it so decided to get bill too see they had been added which then added around £20 to bill. Luckily we noticed and got our money back. As it was a 40th birthday celebration my family provided 40 candle for staff to then replace with their own high burning candle which nearly caught light shade at table. This was a poor service for a Saturday night the staff seemed distracted and unorganised throughout and unable to cope with the amount of customers. I do not think I will attend in future as feel this dampened our celebration

I do not recommend this restaurant at all. To begin with the staff were so arrogant and continuously rolled their eyes when we were ordering. Secondly, we were a table of 7 and waited 2 HOURS for our food and still hadn’t received it. We asked about it multiple times and got told it would be coming out soon. Once it had been far too long, a family member of mine mentioned that we’d been sitting for two hours to which the waitress replied, “yes, and?”. This started a massive commotion with the waitress being unbelievably unprofessional. We all walked out as we had got fed up of waiting and never received our food. Do not go here, the service is absolutely appalling.

Venue: 4.5 ⭐️ Beautiful Comfy Surroundings A tad on the cool side for us all. Staff: 5 ⭐️Triple ‘A’ Approachable, Accommodating, Attentive (l guess that makes a triple ‘A’ ) 😉 Polite and Courteous Kitchen: 4.5 ⭐️ a tad slow & tepid food however on a positive note the Lamb was beautifully cooked on the pink & tasted delicious. The family enjoyed their menu choice also. Other: Cutlery Polishing- please be aware of noise level when carrying this task out behind the bar area. Would we return? YES

My wife is vegan and loved her wld mushroom tacos. I had the Dumfries lamb, beautifully cooked and wonderfully tender.

We were staying in Largs for a weeks holiday and visited Scott’s three times. We came twice for coffee and cake and once for breakfast. Really recommend a visit. A fair selection of cakes which are tasty and reasonably priced and coffees are good. The breakfast was lovely, both the pancakes and the breakfast rolls which come with a lovely tomato relish. The waiters and waitresses are really friendly and happy to help. The conservatory area is also dog friendly which is great.

Had a business Christmas lunch here. Service was super slow although restaurant was quiet. The restaurant itself is nice and in a lovely location. Food was ok but nothing exciting / special. I would go back but only because of the location.

Me and my family of 16 came here for my boys 11th birthday and from start to finish was absolutely amazing . The staff were spot on and and couldn’t have done enough for us. Our server was a blonde girl who I am assuming was a manager. At the end they came out and sang happy birthday with our cake which was fantastic. The food was brilliant. Some of Our other guests had tried the Christmas menu they have on and absolutely loved it. From reading recent reviews please do not let them put you off as I must be assuming they have just came on a very bad day as our experience was perfect start to finish. Will definitely be recommending.

We popped into scotts for breakfast recently as we had seen they were advertising santa paws breakfast event which we thought would be fun but we were rather disappointed. This was our first ever visit to this buzzworks event. Having been to a few santa paws events in the past, we were expecting it to be a good event especially from bussworks but we were quite disappointed with it. The only thing they had was someone plugging there dog grooming business and petshop, selling dog treats etc, there was no santa, no Xmas decor, nothing, there was a best dressed dog competition but noone found out who won, it was such a badly managed event. The service was so slow and staff kept changing so they didn't know If we had our order taken or not. We never got any sugar with our teas, and the food wasn't warm. The dog area is nice although a little cramped and the parking was a bit of a nightmare, we were lucky to find a space. The dog menu was good, with plenty of choice which our dogs loved and the biscuits on the table were a nice touch. I doubt we would rush back as it was rather expensive for the small portions and badly organised event by bussworks, we expected so much better.

Previously excellent gluten free options. The restaurant and group have moved to a "low gluten" menu. With a party of three Coeliacs this is pointless and a complete backward step. Staff tried to convince me this was a positive situation - it wasn't. Burger was £16 and no sides (fries or potato option is gluten free) did not feel like value for money or reassuring that the kitchen was considering allergen needs. Very dissapointing.

We popped in for cake at coffee this afternoon and were not impressed. The new terrace had several tables with dirty dishes piled high and no staff to be seen. There was a queue of people trying to pay at the counter. We opted for inside the main restaurant area. We were directed to a dirty table by the front desk so we moved to a high table that was clean. Order was taken and arrived quickly which was good. Sadly the latte was basically half a cup of cold froth and the lukewarm hot chocolate looked like a 5 year old made it. Definitely not worth the near £12 bill. Would not recommend

I booked a table for lunch, requested one in a quiet area or near the fire which is away from the main dining area, I got neither and was shown to a table wedged in between other diners with no privacy. After being seated I waited 15 mins for someone to take a drinks order then a further 15 mins to take a food order. The first coffees were cold, came without any spoons or sugar a further wait again. Food eventually arrived chips were cold, one of the sandwiches said bloomer bread but more like a cheap white loaf! A further 15 mins to order a dessert and 20 mins for it to arrive by this time the server took the dessert of the bill only as I complained.. no urgency from any staff and overpriced!!!

We were down sorting our boat for winter & popped in on Wednesday for breakfast & then again today, we usually come for dinner. What a contrast today to what what we were served on Wednesday. The presentation today was far superior & much more pleasing to the eye & tasted so much better although same ingredients! We will definitely come back more often. The only other thing I found strange was how scruffy the staffs aprons & general attire was & service was a bit scatty, but all in all value for money & delicious!

Dinner for eight including four Canadian relatives was abysmal. Two steaks were served cold with no veg. Replaced but was tough and never rib eye. Mussels were served with bread steamed inside the mussel pot and a tasteless cream sauce. Drinks service at the bar was poor. The only highlight was the professionalism of our Czechoslovakian waitress at the table. Won’t be back.

This is a place I loved to come to for the great atmosphere, food and service. That was a couple of years ago. In 2023 great new interior, but that's were it stops, young staff who chat more to each other, do not listen when taking orders, generally get it wrong, a simple request for water and ice becomes rocket science. Staff are distant, sometimes rude and arrogant, they look like they hate their job. I complained to head office and received a standard email response from the General Manager at Scotts which was an insult, it's obvious they don't care and especially the quality of food. I previously booked requesting a booth this month, when I arrived with my wife and daughter we were seated at a table, no mention of reserved booth or apology that it was not available. Ordering a desert is the luck of the draw as they have forgotten twice in the last five visits. When your waiting an hour for food, they use to bring you some bread and butter while you waited, not anymore. When they did provide you with water and ice in the past, they would pour the water into your glasses and offer to refill, not anymore. I was at Scott's Largs this month and booked under 40% promotional discount, when I went to the counter to pay my bill they issued me a receipt with full price, when I pointed out error to young lad, he just crushed up receipt, threw it in the bin and processed bill with correct 40% discount, no apology. A young lad who came over with our drinks, threw down the coasters on table in an arrogant manner. A restaurant requires a level of etiquette and approach to good customer service, sometimes it requires a level of maturity and life experience. In previous years at Scott's Largs the older mature staff could give the younger ones a run for their money and show how it's done in a courteous and professional manner. With a lot of horrendous reviews here, there is obviously an issue with the general manager and chef? A simple tip, organise and control the waiting staff by offering better training including manners, find a chef who can cook and pay them a decent salary. With a lot of horrendous reviews, there can only be one person responsible, the General Manager? I would never go back again to Scott's, it's passed its sell by date in all categories, such a shame. Especially with the benefits card which is a great rewards scheme with regular discounts, but that's not enough to encourage me to return. There was a local restaurant in my area which faced the same criticism in service and food, they brought in a new manager and chef and what a transformation, the service and food is now excellent. As I said it's not rocket science in the restaurant industry.

Great food. Very pleasantly surprised by the coconut chicken dish. Nice atmosphere. Even though we stayed until late we never felt they were rushing us out of the restaurant.

Very pleasant friendly staff who cant be faulted but it did seem that on our most recent visit for lunch there just wasn't enough of them on duty coz service was patchy We have been here on a few occasions over the last 4 years but sorry to say that based on the last 2 visits the lunch menu has dropped from being great quality with some interesting choices to just average quality and downright boring. it cant be nice for staff doing their best to read negative reviews but your head office needs the feedback.

Welcomed at the offset that made our visit an excellent experience. Staff are exceptional and very attentive without overdoing it. Food choice excellent and if a little pricey it is worth it for the service, quality of food and atmosphere within the restaurant. Staff are a credit to the organisation that unfortunately isn’t always the case these days. Because of that Scott’s will be the first choice for visits for lunch etc while my wife and I are enjoying on retirement travels

Scott’s is absolutely OK at best. Yesterday we ordered a hummus and vegetable wrap, when it came, it was hummus stuffed with lettuce which is sort of misleading. The day before, our friends ordered a cheeseburger that came frazzled with no cheese. It’s recently been refurbished and it’s quite a nice setting but the food is definitely average. Lots of people clearly like average food because it’s always busy.

Excellent choice of food, the food itself was so good. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant. Toilets and restaurant were clean and well kept. Great location also. Price was standard to anywhere else we have been recently.

Visited Scott’s today at the end of a very wet weeks holiday. Four generations aged between 95 and 5 years. Our lunch did not disappoint and was certainly a very enjoyable end to our holiday. Service was excellent in spite of being a party of eight, attentive, leaving just the right amount of time between courses. Food was good. We had various items off the menu and all were enjoyed. I would highly recommend the Catalan Stew, others had Coconut Chilli Chicken, Sea Bass, Fillet steak, Garlic Chicken. The children’s menu gave a good selection. Desserts were delicious. The ambience at Scott’s was very enjoyable, we had a nice table and did not feel close to others. Would highly recommend for lunch.

Really slow service, a good 10 / 15 mins for drinks to arrive from ordering. Food arrived quickly and was nice. It’s expensive though. Service is painfully slow - it’s bizarre as they would sell a lot more drinks if more attentive service.

My Mussels were lovely, restaurant very nice including staff very reasonable prices for both food and drinks would definitely go back again if I'm ever in Largs.

Scott's was recommended to me and did not dissapoint. The restaurant was clean, welcoming and lively. Lots of family groups with a freindly and warm atmosphere. Service was very good and the food excellent. I would highly recommend.
