We stayed in a motor home for 2 nights. OK there’s no loos or showers but you can empty your chemical loo but there is electric hook up and the price is sooo cheap! It’s out of the way, really quiet, a bar and restaurant and lots of sheep and ponies to see. Would most definitely stay again!

We booked through pitch up to stay here on our motor home and had the pleasure of eating dinner here on our first night. Absolutely amazing views! The owners were so welcoming and friendly. The food was your normal pub food which satisfied our appetites perfectly. It was like stepping back in time which we actually quite enjoyed (the decor).

A little like going back in time with the decor and menu but it's charming nonetheless. The food is very reasonably priced and the portions are generous. Service is friendly and the food delivered to the table promptly and hot. The location - on a clear day or evening - can't be beaten. The views are stunning. Highly recommended.

Popped in for a Sunday lunch - and found a most excellent carvery. Friendly hosts made us very welcome and both the dinner and the sweet could not be faulted. The restaurant looks out onto the mountain valley, what an excellent location for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Music and decor very much to our taste, this one has a quite unique look and feel. Which is how it should be, no overly-modern and clinical surroundings to be found here. Just warmth and comfort. Will be back!

Que nosotros mismos a los vegetales. La carne estaba bien preparado, muy tierna y sabrosa. La salsa me recordaba a mi papá salsa, real, hecha con la salsa de carne. zumos Nos hubiera gustado un flan pero no apretado. Visited the scotch pine a few months back and reviewed it then, was absolutely flawless and faultless. Visited yesterday evening and the food was just as nice.I had the pork and my girlfriend had the steak. Pork can often be very dry when you go out to eat but this was lovely, very tender and perfectly cooked. The chips were just as good as I remember.. As was the peppercorn sauce! Mushrooms were a great addition, too.My girlfriend had the steak and although a bit fattier than usual, the taste was still as lovely as before. The salad bar was once again a lovely addition. Well stocked and great tasting. Very good value for portion size and no doubt will be up again soon!

I am not sure if some of the reviewers visited the same scotch pines as my husband and I but our visit on Sept: 25 was excellent. We both had Sunday lunch mine was pork my husband had beef , the vegetables were fresh the roast just right, both meat tender and plentiful ,the gravy just like mums. Both the owner and his partner were only to helpful and as for no waitress service ,this is an inn for goodness sake, and I am sure that a ten foot walk to the bar would not hurt anyone. As for the decor being dowdy unless they have done a makeover recently it was perfectly acceptable to us(no cobwebs in sight anywhere!!).All in all a very enjoyable couple of hours and will return again someday

This place is a gem. The decor is dated, as some of the reviews below have suggested, but it adds to the charm of the place. Eat your food leisurely listening to some classic tunes with what can only be described as the best view from a pub window you could ever see (in Wales at least). The food is classic pub food, very tasty, reasonably priced and comes served with real chips, which is a bonus nowadays. The service is good, there's a free salad bar and the staff are very friendly. I'd highly recommend a visit if in the area.

What can I say about the Scotch Pines. Despite the classic interior, this pub offers quality pub meals in huge portions at excellent prices. I actually like how the lounge is decorated for a pub; it adds a nice nostalgic feel. It's a family run pub and service is superb. If you want a meal with a view, then head up to the Scotch Pines - just keep going up and you'll find it. I highly recommend booking as it is very popular with the locals; that just speaks for itself.

I've been going to this pub over 15 years with family. My grandfather used to drink at the pub back in the coal mine days when it was a men's bar.The scotch pine is a beautiful pub situated on top of betws mountain with the most beautiful scenic views, you must come and see for yourselfThe pub serves nothing other than proper, real, wholesome food. The chips are homemade and tasty. The meats are always cooked to perfection upon order, and the portion sizes leave you full to the brimThose complaining and with negative feedback expect fine 5* dining in a modern restaurant when you must remember the pub is over 100 years old, and it is about serving good pub food and having a good time with your nearest and dearest.

Dinner for two on a sunny fri eve. When at bar to order food we were told there was a 40 min wait. We agreed to wait foolishly as it took double that for two main courses to arrive.A beef and ale pie and a gammon. The gammon was ok but the chips could of been cooked a bit more. The so called pie another story. It was served in a small dish separate from the chips. The pastry if I can call it that was a oval shaped undercooked attempt as pasty and was dreadful. The chips undercooked and peas cold. Gravy was in a sauce boat and inedible. It tated like very very strong oxo.All in all we paid rather a lot for a very poor meal. They had the cheek to charge extra for the gravy which I could not eat.Friendly young lady behind bar was the only positive about this visit.Avoid like the plague !!!

My partner and i visited the Scotch Pine, as my patner is a Welsh man he already knew the food wouldn't be up too much, but sold me on the views!Walking in was like being transported back into the 70's, the decor was extremely poor and dated! At the bar we ordered our drinks, and when i requested to have ice i was barked at NO!The menu was very very basic, and only having two starters which were in keeping of the decor, we ordered the Lasagne, Onion rings and Cheesy Garlic Bread. There was a salad bar available with the main course but it looked like it had seen better days! When the food arrived it looked like it had come out of the microwave, the Lasagne tasted like a budget budget meal, it was overcooked with no substance or taste, the chips although being homemade, were from putrid potatoes and looked nothing like the chips the table to the side of us had, obviously the fact they were locals, and regulars deemed their food, although as basic as mine was at least edible! The garlic bread was again out of a microwave and as it cooled turned solid!I only managed a small amount of my dinner due to my above comments and not wanting to be unwell, the woman who cleared my table had absolutly no interest as to wether we'd enjoyed our meals or had a good experience, and made no eye contact and passed no comment, the same is true when my partner payed! The food was extremely overpriced for what it was, and i would advise anyone reading this to take my heed and book elsewhere!

Firstly the place needs a real 'make over', very old fashioned & looking tired. The staff need a bit of oomff, don't expect a conversation or even a smile! The food is below average, choice or 2 starters, prawn cocktail or soup, I didn't have either so cannot comment on them. The menu is very basic, steak, chicken, gammon, ham, lasagne, scampi etc, nothing really home made! I had the steak, which doesn't say the size, when I was asked I was just told 'big' ??!! When arrived it was big but very thin, asked for it medium but it was well done. It was also full of grizzle so I couldn't eat it. When I told the staff the just weren't interested! The free salad bar was ok, very basic choice of salad, lettuce, toms, cucumber, sweet corn, coleslaw, potato salad, all fresh so that was the best bit of my meal! The chips, which I didn't have, are 'real' chips & looked nice. The choice of drinks is also limited, wine is from a tap, not a bottle, vodka isn't Smirnoff!! So not impressed!Whilst we were there the light went off for a few minutes, we thought it was a power cut, then a few of my friends had water dripping on them, when we told the staff they already knew about it, that's why the lights went off! Looks like the flat roof is leaking, which isn't good when you are eating underneath it!!Overall a poor experience, food is basic & not that cheap either, not very friendly staff so we won't be going back there in a hurry! The best bit tho is the views...!

High on the Mynydd y Betws ( Betws Mountain) the restaurant is ideally situated for a Summer's evening pub meal - the meal being matched by the view. The pub has a pleasant ethos with a free salad bar to whet your appetite for a wholesome pub meal.My wife ordered a 'lady's portion of pork medallion and was amazed to be served with an enormous portion which, despite her valiant efforts, failed to finish the excellent tasting slice of pork. I went for the traditional steak and kidney with a pint of the best bitter. The bill came to less than £20 - what tremendous value for a very enjoyable evening.
