Saxilby Fish & Chips in West Lindsey

A traditional chippy for take away food. No queue when we arrived. Ordered the jumbo haddock and was warned there was a wait, as it was cooked to order. No problem with that and it was only 10 minutes or so. The fish was huge and perfectly cooked with thin, crispy batter. Ordered 2 small portions of chips to go with our haddock, but honestly, one portion was big enough for the two of us. Great food - succulent fish, tasty chips and friendly staff. I couldn't ask for more from a chippy supper!

Lovely staff, 90% of the food is brilliant. Quick service and fairly priced. Only downside is I find the chips to be too greasy and they leave skin on for the fish however nothing would stop be from coming back again.

This is the best chippy for miles. Big portions of freshly cooked excellent fish and chips. Well worth a visit if you're looking for quality food and friendly service.

Everything was really greasy, I felt like I was going to have a instant heart attack. Not the best chippy but not the worst.

Excellent fish, chips were ok for me ,but everyone has their own idea about how chips should be ! A typical F&C takeaway, they don't come any better. I'm reluctant to spread the word as it may make it too busy.

1st time using Saxilby fish and chips and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. The food was really tasty, big portions and very reasonably priced. The battered sausages were really nice they weren’t your usual cheap sausages they had spices in them. The only critique was I ordered a large curry sauce and didn’t think the pots were big enough but it certainly didn’t ruin what was a delicious meal.

Decided to go there for dinner phoned them up to place order when got there never seen that shape fish before I asked for 1 to be well done bit had both well done a small piece of fish and a large piece of fish when we got home started to eat it the large one which we didn't want over cooked had a fair bit of fish in but over cooked but small was a disgrace it was just a lump of batter which we phoned up about and the woman said who answered the phone said it shrinks when over cooked it only had a measley amount of fish inside about two tea spoon falls if that they have lost our custom because of it

Had fish and chips tonight and they were disgusting. Most of the chips thrown away - like little soggy oil sponges. The dog didn’t even get them, that’s how bad. The fish meat was well cooked, but oil soaked batter. I can still get taste the oil in my lips.

Disappointing had to queue for some time, so you think it must be good, but very disappointing, chips were soggy more like boiled chips, rather than fried chips, battered sausage was soggy managed to eat the sausage eat just, but threw the chips away. Don't waste time or money going there.

Good quality fish and probably the best chippy chips I’ve had. Excellent all round and staff are very good. Proper fish and chips and good sized portions.

Been to Saxilby fish and chips for the last couple of weeks and the consistency and quality is very good the fish is cooked perfectly and the batter crispy and all freshly cooked and hot,do not live in Saxilby but always worth a visit especially for the fish and chips

If you want really good fish and chips , while you're at Saxilby. This is the place to go. So good that the cue is about 10 customers long . .....it's also the only chippy in the village.

Always enjoy the meals from here. Always phone my order in and it is always ready for when I arrive.

All good but a very small waiting area such that at busy times there's no room inside to wait for your order to be cooked. Not much fun if it's raining!!

I ordered fish and chips and they were really delicious, I will definitely go back if I'm in the area. The customer service was great and everyone was really friendly. When I ordered my fish I didn't realise they were closing but they offered to cook it fresh for me even though they were closing in 5 minutes.

We looked for a chippy on Google & found this place. Not too far from where we were staying for a couple of nights. Some of the reviews were bad so we almost didn't go but...we wanted to decide for ourselves. Very pleased we did! Fish and chips twice with scraps! All very good, tasty, hot and plenty of it. Staff were lovely and polite. No complaints here. Definitely worth a trip.

Would of given a 5star but when you have to chuck half the fish away cos of the batter being burnt and the fish dry inside then it doesnt deserve a 5star. Weve been here twice before and had no problems. Wont be coming back. Sorry

Large Fish, chips and curry sauce x 2, was OK, chips where a tad pale for our liking and to say that the shop had only been open 15 minutes prior to our arrival where not the hottest meal we have had. Not an unpleasant experience though and would definitely use again and recommend to others.

Simply the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. The chips looked pale, but I guess because they're frying new potatoes. They tasted great, the fish was crispy and went down very well.

Just had a delicious plate of haddock and chips, plus my partner, from Saxilby Fish & Chips. Only have it occasionally as trying to look after my waistline! Always good. Moving to Lincoln area shortly but, if we fancy fish and chips, will drive the 7 miles to Saxilby!

So today I launched my new food review name I was going to go with Google food reviews but it wouldn't let me instead of using my email address for my personal account or my business account. So I visited this chip shop today while working in the area and yesterday I reviewed the different chip shop at Hunstanton in Norfolk that I had visited while working in that area that only got a one star review due to the shocking rip-off that I was charged. Well this chip shop is totally different from arriving on site the smell of the cooking chips and batter was fantastic I went inside and there was a young girl serving and a man on the till. I asked to see how big are regular chips was and decided I would like a large chips and I don't know why I chose two large battered sausages naughty me the chips are a very decent portion size for the price. One thing I wasn't asked and I didn't think about it was that they are not plane sausages they probably had some but I was just given to sausages that tastes like sage and onion stuffing which was nice as I had a similar one before whilst travelling back from Mablethorpe which was very spicy and very greasy. This was not as I wrapped a napkin around it and squeezed it and a low amount of oil came out of the batter and sausage. The chips were fantastic compared to yesterday's hard greasy potatoes but they could have done with just maybe 3 to 4 minutes cooking extra as they were lightly Brown but not quite as soft in the middle. All in all if I was to visit the area again around lunchtime I would be back hear.😊

This is the best fish and chips I have ever had the normal size fish is huge and tasty batter staff were lovely and for saying how busy they was with a queue they were very professional and we got served very quickly

Best chippy around here, by far

Very good F&C and the Tue to Thu lunch offer of small fish and chips with a side is great price. Only issue ( and it's not their fault) is parking nearby, can be a bit of a free for all during busy periods in the village. Returned to village after 2 years away working. First action was get FCS, was as good as ever!!!!

Visiting the area and popped in for a take away chippy tea. Social distancing and queueing outside and masks to be warn on entering the shop. Generous portions nicely prepared. Hot and filling. Recommended.

This place is top quality, fresh fish really well battered. It is all cooked in the traditional method of using beef dripping. Decent portions, very good value. Well worth the trip out to saxilby

Great fish and chips. The haddock here is quite delicious and the chips are tasty, the portions are quite large. I Asked for extra salt and vinegar, which hightnened the flavor. When I first got in line I was number 16, but the line moves swiftly i waited about 10 minutes total. Food is worth the wait. I will defiently come back for more.

I love this chippy, it is by far my favourite chip shop in lincoln. I normally come around 5:30 and the food is always well cooked , nice and hot and i will be coming back again. The only things i can fault is that the young lady on the till was quite rude and one of my gravy pots was half full, other than that, great chip shop, with great food :)

Lunchtime treat to our favourite Chippy. We actually live 10 miles away in Gainsborough but prefer coming here. Very nicely cooked Haddock and chips washed down with a tin of Dandelion and Burdock. Ignore the two dodgy reviews, the food is lovely.
