Sawmill in Newham

Coffee and cake is really good here and well made. I would just like the staff to be a touch more cheerful. It won't put me off going, just the difference between 4 and 5 stars.

I used to come here because of the people and friendly atmosphere, not any more 🙁

Not my first time here. Probably one of the best cafes to go to in the Stratford area. Almost like a Bistro. Very good job done there. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere due to decor. Very good food.

The slim east European white guy at the counter thinks he works in Karen’s dinner, very intriguing.

My partner and I had borsch followed by the dill and cottage cheese dumplings and my partner has the pork and leek dumplings - 10 out of 10! The borsch was the best I've had in years (and I have it quite often as it's a favourite of mine). The thick spur cream and garlic brioche was the perfect accompaniment. Will definitely be back :)

This place was exactly what we needed for a breakfast! Cosy atmosphere with exceptional food and friendly service! If this was closer to home, this would be our regular!

Came across this place while looking for somewhere quick to grab a snack The outside has beautiful cakes and pastries in the window which look great and the sort of things you expect to see in West London Inside there is a really nice cafe style menu but then various Ukrainian dishes that are made fresh alongside the cakes and other goods. Service is very friendly polite and inside is beautiful the sort of place you can go to relax as the world goes by. For food we had a goulash and some of the dumplings (I have forgot the name apologies) This was very very tasty the goulash was a great quality and the dumplings were even better with mushroom and cabbage filling with tons of flavour. I had a double espresso to go with which was a good quality coffee. A few days later we returned for breakfast and that was just as great if not better the bread is very very nice the sausages top quality and the egg was full of flavour. There are so many dishes to try and I haven't even started on the cakes yet but if your in the area go in sit down get great service and try a variety of different dishes you will not be dissapointed this is a great place for the area with brilliant friendly service.

This place was well recommended and it lived up to the expectations and standards. Quite a popular spot and the coffee and smoothies were absolutely delicious and the pastries are amazing.

Nice decor, sadly cold beef lasagna, but tasty fruit smoothie.

I like the coffe here, it tastes good and the price is relatively modest. They also have an area on the back to spend time chilling if needed.

Disappointing to have to give the Sawmill only 2*. The breakfasts are really good as were the dishes I've had in the past. This time I had the goulash and although there was plenty of sauce to add flavour, it couldn't hide the fact that the meat was dry inside. I had to cut small pieces then smother it in sauce to make it palatable. On checking my reviews it seemed I had this last time and clearly forgot. I gave it a more favourable review and said it was marginally on the dry side. I can only assume it's not improved as it's still lacking in flavour

Absolutely lovely place - breakfasts were amazing, service great, prices reasonable and environment really lovely. Range of food extensive - we went back while visiting the area but would have liked to go again and again!

The fact that the owners were so arrogant and rude means they're russian separatists scamming on the name of Ukraine!

Amazing food, relaxed atmosphere, lots of people go with kids and sit in the back area. It's a rare gem for Stratford, you have to go to know. whether you want a meal or just cafe stuff, it's must know spot, especially if your local..... Try knce, it should be enough to convert you. I hope this place doesn't start to slack.....

Lovely desserts they make here. We had some chocolate cakes and some cinnamon roles and They were yummy. Also the staff are friendly.

Fabulous cafe and a great find for breakfast and brunch. Fresh squeezed apple and orange juice. Amazing Shakshuke and a range of excellent poached egg dishes. Coffee great. Friendly ppl from Ukraine. Busy and clearly well known. Excellent venue for post-fun recovery breakfast. Doesn't look so much from the outside but a wee delight within. Ideal if visiting area for ABBA Arena

Excellent place for breakfast or brunch. Amazing service and nice variety in the menu. My OJ was king of warm and tasted sweeter than expected. Overall pretty nice experience.

8 of us were served brunch on a Monday morning. Food and coffees were excellent. Just the toilets needed sorting - one didn't have a lock and the other was not flushing properly but they did seem to be getting them sorted.

Had coffee then English breakfast. Was able to swop toast and hash browns for extra egg and mushrooms. Good quality tasty ingredients. Definitely one of best cafes in Stratford. Run by Ukrainian family it also offers traditional dishes that I must work my way through

Waren 3 Mal dort, schöne Atmosphäre, sehr leckere vegetarische und vegane Angebote. Leckerer Kaffee. Bis das Essen oder der Kaffee auf dem Tisch steht kann es mal gut 15-20 min dauern, dafür schmeckte es jedes Mal hervorragend

While the pastries are lovely they also serve heartier foods. I recommend the scrumptious borscht, especially on a typically drizzly British day. You can tell that this is a venue where people become regulars. I know that if I lived in the area I would be one.

I had dinner twice and a few times lunch. The last dinner left a very bad impression. Staffs were very rude and unprofessional, and the owner as well. The toilets were very dirty, and bad smells every the time that we came. The guests were left with a very bad impression of the staff. I don't recommend it 👎👎👎

Been many times, not many other brunch places in the area. Food has always been tasty. All the brunch options seem good and the beetroot soup is worth a try. The one time they made a mistake with an order, they rectified it immediately

Was always getting my take aways there as the food is clean, but once i left hungry by stubborn Staff , as they newer come up with an alternative solution for me when they decided not to take 50£ note (still legal tender ) Simply had to go to another restaurant and waste another time on new preparation's for food. Feels like I Been let down by my trusty restaurant.

Went there with my friend to have some lunch over our lunch break and food took over 30 mins to come, no one has apologised or updated us on when food was coming had to go to the till twice to ask where our order was. Not impressed at all. Also had cinnamon rolls paid 4£ each and oh god, worst cinnamon rolls I ever I had, they were dry and stale, not even GAILS chance that much for their cinnamon rolls and they one is 10000000% better!!!

Was very excited to visit As the reviews looked good. However, disappointed was an understatement. Our coffee came perfectly within 5 minutes of ordering but MY breakfast came 50 minutes later. My friend had to wait another 20 minutes. No apology. The shaksuka was not shaksuka and the pancakes were an oily mess refund was given for my shaksuka after I asked but still no apology or care given. Overpriced and should have cancelled the whole order. Such a shame as the reviews seemed great. More care definitely needed.

I highly recommend Sawmill. The cuisine is great. I enjoy their dumplings and beetroot soup. That is so nice that I can taste real Ukrainian dishes. Moreover I advise you to taste Sawmill coffee. That is nice as well. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. I visit this place very often.

Nice restaurant with good ambience. I visited with my friend for Sunday brunch and loved the interior. The staff are friendly but overworked and seemed very stretched but the coffee was great! My friend ordered the banana pancakes (delicious!) and I ordered eggs royale, which were also delicious except for the last bite where I realised there was a snail on my plate…… Very nice food, coffee and ambience apart from the snail - please wash your salad before serving!

Visited with family and had a mix of pancakes and sawmill full English. Great food and some lovely healthy drinks. Prices reasonable for London.

A nice cafe no doubt, very nice interior but this feeling was shortlived as I sensed hostility for people of colour, my cousin and I were served but it was a very stern approach towards us, it was almost like yeah you're here as customers, but we don't like you and are putting up with your presence, so sad in today's day and age when you are made to feel this way, for no reason whatsoever, so apparent and sad to see that sadly the staff have a dislike to us. Which is so sad, as we want to support local businesses and we were polite and very respectful.

Nice clean restaurant not far from the old shopping Mall. I ordered the veg breakfast and latte. The food came in good time, everything was hot and fresh. The latte was lovely. The waiting staff were nice and helpful. Good food and service.

Nice place however the staff didn't really give the kind of customer service I'd like to see at a local place to eat. They will rely on return custom and to not greet or smile all your customers isn't on. It seemed a hastle for the server to let us know what cakes were what - if you don't have enough staff to explain these things perhaps think about better signage. Also don't answer your mobile phone whilst people are waiting. Maybe they only like customers who look like them - I don't know. I'm not sure if go back either. Have since been back and service is much improved. So will give 1 more star : )

Ordered egg royale which contains a great taste that will make you addicted :) and also shakshuka. Shakshuka is cooked Mediterranean sytle-low fat great taste. Lastly, pancakes. Buttery and puffy, with a mouth watering cream. I suggest this local cafe for everyone around

Mi amigo sugiere Sawmill para el almuerzo. Revisé el menú en línea de antemano y me gustó su aspecto. Pedimos Lamb Hotpot, brocheta de pollo a la parrilla y pollo teriyaki (no en el menú en línea). Las raciones estaban bien. todos incluían arroz, pero el arroz vegetal indicado con el pollo terminó siendo simple. El total para 3 de nosotros, incluidos los refrescos, fue de alrededor de 35.El lugar es relajado con una iluminación sutil. El servicio fue realmente bueno. Una vez que sirvieron nuestra orden, nos dejaron solos.

He estado yendo a Sawmill durante casi 4 años y siempre he estado contento con la comida, las bebidas y el servicio. Sin embargo, mi opinión sobre el lugar se ha vuelto negativa debido a mi experiencia las últimas veces que visité. Específicamente, la semana pasada cuando fui allí me encontré con una camarera increíblemente grosera, las 3 veces. Tenía los ojos claros, una especie de cabello rojo y ayer llevaba un top blanco. Ella trajo los platos míos y de mis amigos y casi los arrojó sobre la mesa, le pedimos un poco de agua y ella respondió muy groseramente "ve y tómalo tú mismo" mientras se alejaba y nos daba la espalda. La otra vez que fui allí, nuevamente esta semana, cuando estaba ordenando, le pregunté qué contenía uno de los platos y ella respondió groseramente diciendo "lo que ves" y rodó los ojos. También pedí un zumo de naranja fresco y era simplemente imposible de beber y muy caro. Desafortunadamente, no visitaré el aserradero nunca más. Ha sido tan bueno a lo largo de los años y solía visitarlo casi todas las semanas. El personal tiene una actitud horrible y los propietarios deberían hacer algo al respecto.

Used to really enjoy this place before as food was delicious and portion sizes reasonable. However the portion sizes have more or less halved and the prices have remained the same. You can spend less than half the lunch prices and get more closer to Stratford centre . Last time I buy lunch here, very sad

Went there on Saturday (to have some Georgian food). The food was nice, but we were waiting 1.5 (!) hours for the main course. Some of us ended up having their main at home as a takeaway. Unfortunately, the service is not that great :(

Heard good things about it. So i went there with a friend, there were 2 big dogs hanging out and chilling. Pets in a food establishment is not acceptable, you dont even see pets in Mc Donalds to be fair. Wont go again because i know what happens when im not there.

Delicious homemade breakfast and friendly service !!!

I have never written a negative review before, I save the writing of reviews to support and encourage places that I have enjoyed and believe other people would enjoy too. But unfortunately my family and I had a negative experience here this morning. Firstly my Aunty's breakfast came 15 minutes before my cousin and I's food, when I asked the waiter how long we could expect to wait, I had a very curt reply with no eye contact, sighing, rolling of the eyes and shaking his head, I tried to politely point out that I had been treated rudely but was abruptly told that he felt he wasn't being rude,with the above behaviour demonstrated again, I then felt very uncomfortable for the rest of our visit. Unfortunately the healthy juice option was also undrinkable, my cousins pancakes were almost inedible and my meal was very greasy and not overly pleasant. Unfortunately due to the overall very poor experience we will not be returning and would advise others not to either.

I went with my sister and I ordered the pancakes with honey and banana whilst my sister order the Egg Royale. The Egg Royale tasted mediocre while the pancakes had this weird smell and taste to it. Turns out it was the organic honey they used. Another customer there approached me to tell me he felt that the pancakes were strange too the last time he visited the cafe. I told the workers and all they said were that the honey they used were probably the cause of the weird smell. Did not eat the pancakes at all (except the first bite) and was not compensated either.

A mi esposo no le gustaba caminar desde el centro comercial Westfield, pero lo convencí de que no fuera a los restaurantes de producción masiva ubicados en el centro comercial.Al llegar nos hicieron sentir como una molestia, que estábamos tardando demasiado en ordenar. Tengo que estar de acuerdo con las otras críticas terribles que han descrito la recepción igual. Mi esposo pidió lasaña. A quién le preocupaba que la comida estuviera en exhibición y no saber cuánto tiempo había estado allí fue algo que necesitaba recalentarse. Al llegar, la lasaña estaba caliente por un lado pero fría por encima y por el otro lado. Lo recogí para recalentar.Fui por una calabaza rellena con ensalada de coliflor. La calabaza estaba caliente al llegar, siendo una opción vegetariana, pensé que estaba bastante segura.Salimos más tarde esa noche y comimos en un restaurante con estrella Michelin. Entre los dos restaurantes no puedo decir cuál me hizo, pero no he estado tan enfermo en mucho tiempo. Enfermedad y diarrea toda la noche. En cuanto a la comida fría que se dejó en exhibición y la naturaleza de la enfermedad, lo que estaba vomitando durante toda la noche y el tiempo transcurrido entre las comidas sospecho que era la calabaza rellena recalentada.

We visited Sawmill last week. We had two different versions of eggs which were delicious. Coffee was great too, staff friendly and quick and prices reasonable. One of our best breakfasts in London!

Visité con mi hijo para un almuerzo tardío. Elija entre una excelente y variada selección de platos fríos y calientes que se sirven en su mesa. El interior tiene una decoración temática excelente y muchos asientos. Tanto la calidad de los alimentos como los precios son excelentes, el servicio también es rápido. Una joya escondida.

So glad I found this place on Trip Advisor - a far better alternative yha than the chain outlets available close by. Service was really friendly and helpful. Food quality was great. I'll certainly be heading back next time I'm in the area.

Se vi trovate nella zona di Stratford, prima di prendere la tube e tuffarvi nella frenesia della città e dei suoi innumerevoli luoghi da visitare, concedetevi una colazione in questo gioiellino, sarete subito attratti dalla sua vetrina con torte e pasticcini dall'aspetto goloso, Io ci sono stata con delle amiche e per i quattro giorni di permanenza a Londra , tutte le mattine era il nostro posto per gustare un'ottima colazione, Personale gentilissimo, molto disponibile , locale ben curato, fiori freschi sui tavoli ogni giorno ,arredamento prevalentemente in legno con oggetti particolari disposti con accuratezza,fare colazione con una musica di sottofondo discreta e tranquilla, ti dà la giusta carica per la giornata da affrontare, Una volta siamo andate anche a pranzo e siamo state molto soddisfatte. La qualità del cibo è ottima , così come la preparazione. Questo posto me lo segno e, dato che a Londra ci vado un paio di volte l'anno, sarà la mia base per il breakfast, sicuramente. Un grazie a tutto il personale per la cortesia con la quale ogni mattina ci ha accolte.

Visité con algunos amigos, ordené y pagué hasta que, pocos minutos después, se sirvió la comida. Tenía batata y queso feta quiche, que estaba delicioso con una pequeña cantidad de ensalada. Después de una charla, pedimos té y tarta, comí merengue y mis amigos comieron brownies de chocolate y dijeron que estaba lleno de sabor. Mi merengue se derritió en la boca. Muy buena experiencia, volveremos.

Walked to this restaurant from the Travelodge Stratford, about 5 minutes walk. Well worth the visit, I had poached eggs on toast, they were cooked perfectly and the bread was very tasty too. My partner had the full cooked breakfast, which he said was tasty too. There is plenty of seating here too.

Excellent selection of food. Informal cafe (you order yourself at the counter ). Seating area dark and cramped - it's better if you take it away if you can. Nice staff but kept forgetting what we ordered / had to ask a few times to bring drinks. Not many non-commercial cafes in Stratford. This is one of them.

El aserradero ofrece un ambiente muy relajado con comida recién hecha y batidos. Yo recomendaría 100% visitar el aserradero si estás en la zona. . . Quizás no haga un viaje específico a través de Londres para este lugar, pero si está cerca, pruébelo.

Fui con dos amigos a almorzar tarde, así que no estaba muy ocupado. Me imagino que la gente está haciendo cola afuera a las 12. 30. Había una amplia selección de platos de carne, vegetarianos y veganos, fríos y calientes en el mostrador. Todo parecía delicioso, así que me tomó un tiempo elegir, pero finalmente decidí lo que llamaron Farmer's Pie, que en realidad era papas, tocino y pollo nuevos en una salsa cremosa, que elegí acompañar con brócoli, zanahorias y coliflor. . No me di cuenta de que también venden alcohol, así que tomé un vaso grande de zanahoria recién exprimida y jugo de jengibre. La factura total fue de 11. 61. (Mi amigo tenía un gran vaso de vino tinto por solo 4). El personal fue agradable y servicial, y trajo su pedido a la mesa. La decoración es atractiva y cómoda, y su elección de decoraciones de Navidad fue elegante. Las porciones son generosas, así que no pude terminar todo. Tenía un café con leche para terminar. No se preocupe porque este lugar parece tener solo 10 pies de ancho y tiene que hacer cola para el servicio. Te sirven rápido y la comida es fresca todos los días. Hasta ahora he logrado evitar los pasteles, pero sé que pronto cederé. La puerta se saca y se come, y tiene un valor de comida, y se puede comer bien y obtener una buena relación calidad-precio. Supongo que no es tan accesible para sillas de ruedas o para buggies debido a la entrada estrecha, pero como se abre después del mostrador y gira a la derecha hacia un espacio más grande, tal vez pueda ingresar por ese lado. Defireckmmend y continuará visitando para almuerzos de negocios.

This place is awesome! It is definitely a great spot to hang out with friends and grab coffee or even a bite for lunch. Alex and Irina are some of the nicest baristas I have ever met. They are absolutely London’s finest.
