Sasso in Harrogate

Great service and great food . We had a good time celebrating a birthday, the staff did a good job decorating the table 👍

When in Harrogate Sasso’s is one of our favourite restaurants to dine. It has a lovely ambience and the staff are always friendly. The little tasters from chef are always a lovely surprise. We were celebrating my birthday and had a fabulous evening.

We were at Sasso's this past weekend and the food was amazing. Great serving size in comparison to the pricing. The service was also very good and food was on time. Great experience, I will most definitely repeat.

Lovely restaurant, great food great service who could ask for more

Booked a table for 130 on Saturday to meet with family for a special birthday lunch for my husband. There were 4 other diners seated apart from us so 8 covers in total. Our orders were taken efficiently and drinks brought, followed by delicious starters - so far so good. When we got to the mains two came together then after a few minutes the other two. I had ordered a small portion and a side. No sign of the side. I waited few minutes before questioning this, and after a while someone came back to say the side order had been missed but the chef would make it. No apology was offered. Just over 15 mins after the first main had been served my side arrived and was placed on the table with no apology or even any eye contact. I had to ask for condiments which included vinegar - this was bizarrely served in a small saucer (?) and again no eye contact was given or any attempt made to engage. As the others had by then finished I ate my meal alone. By the time our mains were finished it was about 240pm and we were offered the dessert menu which 3 people ordered from. One of the party said they might like a coffee but could they wait to decide until after the dessert and were told this was fine. Once desserts were cleared the waitress asked if that family member would like their coffee and went ahead and took the order. It was at this point the service really went down hill. The bill was brought immediately after the coffee and the waitress came to the table no less than 3 times with the card machine within literally a couple of minutes. This despite the fact coffee had just been served and we hadn’t yet even opened or looked at the bill. When she returned a 4th time I made it clear I’d like her to allow us to finish the meal and was unhappy that it felt like we were being rushed. Her reply? ‘We (she meant the staff) should have left by 3pm’. Said just like that! I pointed out the delay in my main course arriving and the fact our dessert and coffee orders had only just been served to which she said ‘I don’t make the rules’. It was like talking to an automaton. We explained there was no indication when we made our booking that we’d need to be exited by 3pm. And to be honest nothing was said whilst we were dining - not even when coffee was ordered and brought after their ‘closing time’. The final couple of customers were still in situ as we left and remarked they were going on somewhere else for their coffees as they were also told they’d have to leave and hadn’t realised the 3pm ‘rule’. Unfortunately I’d have to say the service received really spoiled our experience this time. The waitress was extremely indifferent bordering on rude, and we all felt like inconveniences despite the £300 price tag on our lunch (with service automatically added on). An even slightly more genial attitude and maybe a little forewarning when we booked our 130pm slot could have completely transformed this experience. Even someone speaking to us about closing as our mains were cleared e.g., ‘just to advise in case you weren’t aware, we do close at 3pm so if possible can I take your dessert and coffee orders now’ would have helped. Why continue taking orders if you’re past closing?!?! Nonsensical! There are so many great restaurants in Harrogate with friendly welcoming staff who appreciate their customers that despite the good food today I seriously doubt we’ll be returning to Sasso. Such a shame as we’ve visited in and off for 20 odd years.

Yet another delightful dinner experience, gratitude to the wonderful staff for taking care of my mother. Sasso restaurant has consistently provided us with an enjoyable atmosphere, impeccable service, and top-notch food quality.

Aubergine starter had a burned base, pasta dish was not hot. Certainly not as good as last time. Extra charge for bread, even though it was said to be complimentary (presumably the added olives were) along with an automatic service charge which was not merited. Very disappointed.

A superb meal out, top quality and an excellent value fixie-prixie 😉

Great spot for their lunch set menu offer...really good food a d wine

Nice restaurant, good service good atmosphere. Good food. But and it’s a big but lunchtime portions are very small all the members of our party saying they were hungry after the two course lunch. On that basis would I go back again? Probably not as there are too many restaurants to choose from in the area.

I am not a foodie in any way but I do like pasta and I have to say the food the service and the wine were exceptional. I would not eat anywhere else in Harrogate

Probably the best Italian in Harrogate, powerful flavours with every dish. We went early so it was quiet but it soon started to fill up as it approached 1930.

Excellent meal as always. Staff are always attentive without being intrusive and the food never disappoints. One of our favourite restaurants - only wish we lived nearer!

Sasso is back to being our go to restaurant in Harrogate. We had the set lunch which offers plenty of choice along with a couple of glasses of very reasonable rose Prosecco and a couple of glasses of the Trentino pinot noir which are both great value. In particular the tiramisu was top notch (and I've had a few) - really creamy and light - just how it should be.

Overall superb. Consistency in quality of food is key supported by excellent service, good wine and lovely atmosphere. I genuinely believe the pasta is the best you can have. My wife and I have been regular visitors for years and will continue to do so. Congratulations Sasso.

Brilliant meal at Sasso tonight. Food quality is always exceptional and tonight was no different. Please don’t try the aubergine parmagano - I want all for myself!!! If you haven’t already tried Sasso, you definitely should.

We visit Sasso alot and we have never been disappointed - the food is always amazing and the service perfect. They have a new menu coming out this weekend - so we are looking forward to trying it out soon. This is by far the best restaurant in Harrogate - not just Italian but all restaurants - and we would and do recommend to anyone to go.

We got there early,so not busy. You forgot the side dishes.

Food was delicious but the portion sizes for the money are quite minimal. Overall the dining experience and staff are lovely ! But I would suggest having a starter rather than just skipping to a main.

Lovely place. Excellent food and friendly helpful staff who couldn’t do enough for us. I struggled with the menu as I don’t eat meat and I was made starter and main meal that was not on the evening menu and it was delicious.

Love Sasso's. Authentic Italian and some great, and different menu choices which differentiate it from the high street Italian chains.

First visit for a business lunch. The set menu is amazing value. I had the duck pâté which was exceptional and then mushroom risotto equally delicious. Can’t believe I’d not found this restaurant before. Will definitely be back!

Lovely intimate Italian restaurant in Harrogate. Friendly staff, great food, and a nice atmosphere, especially if you get to sit outside on a warm evening! What's not to like!?

After many years away I went to Sasso last week and the food, service and also wine price, top class. Amazing as usual. I really recommend seafood pasta and tiramisu.

Visited early on a Thursday evening. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I chose the main portion @£18.50 of linguine with tiger prawns, delicately flavoured, disappointed that only contained 5 prawns. My partner opted for 2 course offer, pate was delicious, grilled chicken as would expect. Overall a pleasant dinner but not somewhere we'd rush back to.

Visited Sasso last night Saturday 2/9/23 for a birthday meal. I was completely disappointed by the whole experience. I ordered the lobster ravioli which was completely bland, and a ridiculously small portion for a main course. The waiting staff took my plate away within 1 minute of finishing which felt completely rushed and I ordered a desert which was also ridiculously smal price of chocolate tart. Plus side my sister complained about the food to the waiter and she removed the charge. I won't be going back again. Not what it used to be!! Marcel

Our second visit after it was recommended to us . This time for our anniversary . The food is delicious, all freshly made , lovely atmosphere, great service, reasonably priced. We will return again. It’s well worth a visit.

In Harrogate, unfamiliar with the town and wanting a quick early-evening meal before a long drive south. So we looked around for a pizza express or similar, and spotted Sasso just round the corner with Google Maps. So pleased we came across this place before...

I visited Sasso on Saturday, 12th August with my son. I go there on a fairly regular basis and always enjoy the food and ambience. The staff are lovely. My only criticism would be the service can be a little slow at times and this was the case on Saturday evening. Also, the food could do with a little more seasoning. Overall, it is a lovely restaurant and well worth a visit.

You always get a friendly warm greeting from the team at SASSO and unlike most places there is little churn in in the core team a sure sign of a well run establishment. My wife and I shared "special" wild boar pasta. Sasso's pastas are...

Absolute best. Had a recent family celebration at Sasso where the food and service was outstanding. The pana cotta was to die for. My thanks to the Chefs and front of house team for looking after us. Can't recommend enough.

This restaurant is way above average and a really stand out place to eat in Harrogate and compares well to places we have rsten at elsewhere. Inluding or favorite Italian in London-- 2 Veneti. Amazing service. Very tasty and well presented. Good wine list and, unlike many restaurants they have good half bottles. You look at the pictures on display. You might even contact the local artist and buy one. All round a very enjoyable night out

As a return customer I had high hopes, sadly too much garlic and horseradish spoiled what would otherwise have been a lovely starter and subsequently the main too . Shame we would otherwise have thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will definitely be back just a little cautious over menu choices.

Great restaurant! We had the set lunch menu and all dishes were delicious. The portions were on the small size which was perfect so we could enjoy all 3 courses fully, wine list is extensive and not overpriced. Service was great with attentive and friendly staff. Would love to go back for dinner next time.

You can always rely on Sassos for service, quality and fresh food at a good price. In these days of chain restaurants it has managed to survive which shows you the people of Harrogate and surrounding areas realise it is a little gem!!!!

A really enjoyable experience, relaxed atmosphere, great service, it can't be faulted.

The lobster ravioli was very tasty - the sauce and seasoning was flavoursome, but without masking the lobster meat. Traditional tiramisu was good. My only criticism is that a 330 ml bottle of Morrtti is expensive at almost £5!

This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. My daughter has coeliac disease and these people know exactly what has gone in to their food. She was a very relaxed, happy lady. It is our number 1 venue in Harrogate 👌

Delicious food and a varied menu. There is now a vegan menu as well. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

We booked this for a pre theatre meal at 17.30. It was quiet when we arrived but started to fill up soon after with other early diners. The front of house staff were all very friendly and efficient. The food was all excellent and it was a great overall experience. We will definitely use Sasso again when we’re in Harrogate.

Yet again an excellent dining experience at Sasso, combining the professionalism, courtesy and humour of Domenico and his charming waiting team with everyone in the kitchen, who produce undoubtedly the best pasta and sauces available in Harrogate and beyond!

Disappointed with the food. Ate off the lunch menu and found it tasteless. Wish I had had the a la carte. Best part a good sauvigon blanc wine. Ambiance very nice.

Had another superb dinner at Sasso's. The quality and presentation of our food was excellent and the staff/service was, as usual, very friendly and efficient. Whilst we dined from the al a carte menu, Sasso's also does a two/three course early bird menu for £15.95/£18....

Been to Sasso’s in Harrogate several times and it’s consistently excellent. All the food is freshly prepared/ cooked, always delicious. Great choice on the menu too, plus nice to have the option for mains of a smaller portion if desired. The staff are friendly, attentive and efficient. The restaurant itself has a cosy, welcoming feel. Delicious food, great service, good value and would definitely recommend.
