This used to be a great place I have some fond memories of this place unfortunately this time when I went there I found it got closed I hope 🤞 sardarji and family are well and I hope that this opens up again someday soon

Got to the restaurant to find it was closed. It had a 'Under New Management' sign on it and looked like it was being renovated.

I went to the restaurant today and to find it’s closed. Bearing in mind, it states it’s open on google. I went in a taxi & taxi home, it wasn’t cheap. It’s been saying for a while now, it’s under new management. I suggest you update google & state you’re closed for business!

Disgusting place and both owner have shameful behaviour with staff and keep hearing students for trail and never paying single penny to them and food is cooked unhygienic lying

Am sorry to say but these people doesn't know how to make Pani Puri, if you don't know the recipe please do ask your chef to learn or else please remove it from the menu please..it's so sad when someone doesn't get good food after waiting.

Love this restaurant so much. Lots of tasty options for vegetarians and meat lovers too. The flavours are intense and authentic, the variety of food fantastic and the deserts excellent. A great find and reasonable prices.

New management so some changes are afoot. They have started decorating and changing the furniture. I'm a big fan of their baingan bharta and Samosa chat.

If I was to complain about this place, I’d be complaining for no reason. Excellent food that speaks for itself and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I wish only the best for everyone at Sardaar and will be back again!

I spent 45 pounds but food was very disgusting and staff was very Rude I hate this restaurant food next time time I will never come back and I will let to know my friends also .

Alloo parathas were nice, but presentation and service can definitely be improved, staff are not welcoming of friendly but look very miserable as if they are doing us a favour, remember Paji we customers pay you for food and expect reasonable service with good manners. Incredibly tasty authentic Punjabi food, Bengan Bhurtha is beaut! I no longer live in Leicester but always make sure I come here when I visit. Not to be missed.

Just received a cold-call from this restaurant. They had my name and previous address which they wanted me to confirm - which I did not and they wanted to know if I owned a car. I hung up!

I went in last night for a daal and roti and I must say, I loved it. Supremely lovely people that own it and work there, home cooking, really hot roti's, there was a mix up with the cash and the kind gentleman made me feel at ease instantly. Looking forward to going back 100% and trying different traditional dishes. I Loved it.

Food is great. Everything was enjoyable and would definitely recommend to others. Only issue we found was the ambience of the restaurant was a bit dull. I would love it if they could make it a bit more pleasing to the eyes. But still the food is great so are the staff there.

Very nice vegetarian restaurant. The decor or interiors are average but the restaurant is very clean. All the food served is tasty and delicious. The best I like here is Saag and makke ki roti. Also tasted the parathas ,they are also delicious. The thali is also filling and awesome where you can choose the Dal and sabji of your choice.

Went with family yesterday evening, to eat authentic Panjabi food, but it was so disappointing food quality and It was one of the worst India food I had in my recent days, Paneer tikka curry- I never eat such curry which is made of liquid gravy in my life, but it seems like cheaf pour as much as water he can. Mushroom curry - I guess restaurant should replace this current name as a Green piece curry, as we bearly managed to find Mushroom in the curry and note of of green piece Pulse rice - No comment Papadom - I dont know it was cooked couple of days ago or what, It wasn't crunchy at all Milkshake - It was just a sweet cold milk and not a shake. Please avoid to go to this restaurant as you will get only disappointed nothing else

One of the best Vegetarian restaurant around, serving 2 chapati/Poori with any main dishes (sabzi) we order. I've tried various mains from this restaurant and all were in its unique taste (not like single readily made curry) and enjoyable. Roti made from whole meal flour is a great healthy option. The very main highlight is its pocket friendliness with no compromise in quality. I've recommended to all my friends

Traditional delicious Indian food... Tasty and cheap, very clean and safe... RECOMAND

Sardar Restaurant on Narborough Road, Leicester has rarely lived up to good food but often absolutely terrible. The owner turns a complete deaf ear when you mention that the food is not cooked well and often not fresh but heated in a micro wave. This restaurant has styled itself on a basic India dhaba but Indian dhaba food is fresh and excellent quality, taste and value. Something that's not true of Sardar. Paratha and sabji, their staple menu offering need a significant improvement post lockdown. Reduce the range of items to improve the standard is the first suggestion. Don't try to offer 100 items with 70% below standard (aloo tikki chat being one of the worst and shouldn't be served) and not upto mark and affecting the other 30%. I hope the owners read this and make an improvement. Would love to see this restaurant raise the bar and once again offer good quality food.

I just eat here and saw customer come in and the guy forgot his phone so couldn’t pay and said he’d come back and pay and let him take the food on trust and the owner said ok much respect to the owner and the guy found his phone at the end and paid lol apart from the what you would expect from and Punjabi kitchen vegetarian only !!

We made a pit stop here diving from Leeds to London on a friends recommendation. We weren't disappointed. We had the punjabi thalis. The saag and makki di roti were perfect. We would def visit again when in Leicester. The customer service by the Sikh gentleman was impeccable.

Its such a bad restaurant. Ordered paapdi chaat, Hukka noodle and tikki chaat and collected the order. The chaats were so bad that needed to go to bins as instead of paapdi chaat they used Gol gappa and put some chick peas on the top. No onions or proper chutney. Tasted horrible. There was no Tikki chaat and received Samoso chaat so again not what a wanted. Hukka noodle not as good as indigo or Chai paani or so many other restaurants. In bried it was the most distasteful Chaats i ever ate in my 50 years.

I ordered a samosa platter, the food arrived in an old and used paneer box from a cash and carry. The box still had the old labels and old tape around it, the food was just placed inside the cardboard box with no concern for hygiene. This is an utter disgrace and shows that the owners have no respect for their customers.

Lovely food. It's a simple place, so don't expect much. However, the food is nice! We've always enjoyed a nice cosy vegetarian punjabi meal here snd we keep going back (before lockdown that is), these days we may get takeaways and enjoy it at home. We've always had a craving to order from here when can't be bothered to cook at home!

I ordered some food ,yesterday. Very "greasy" ,bland dishes.Not very,spicy. My Chana curry,had loads of oil floating on top ,to be honest,felt vary of eating it. Bread was undercooked,.u do not serve ,Bhatura's with aubrajine bharta,I am from Amritsar ,(Punjab),plain Salt and Ajwain,Pronthas,go with this dish,traditionally. Please,please,cut back on your oils and Ghee in your dishes "heart attacks galore". Although Vegetarian ,that is the only thing going,for this resturant

lets start by saying that you get a lot more than what you pay for. Portions are an excellent size and great value for money. Food is proper authentic punjabi food. Definitely a place to go if you are a vegetarian. Highly, highly recommend this place. Staff are friendly and helpful. This place also accepts visa too which is a bonus overall ambience is very homely and traditional Great food for anytime of the day; breakfast, lunch, dinner. Only giving this a 4 star purely due to little things such as dirty glasses.

Perfect Parathas and Paneer Pakodas

Excellent no frills vegetarian restaurant. The Mulli (Radish) paratha is out of this.world; not already or heavy and just.right. The samosa bhaat was very good too. Tarka dhal and Rajma (Red Kidney beans) dishes were very nice but portion sizes could be bigger. Overall a very nice restaurant.

Discovered this fantastic Vegetarian restaruant by chance in Leicester last week . The food was as good as home made and really speedy service . Its a basic format , but the food takes it to the next level ! Iopted for a fine Bindi dish with paratha - outstanding flavours and service with a conversation and a smile . One to add to the South Asian cuisine culinary list for Leicester.

Food taste is average. Had chole bhature and samosa tikki chaat. Samosa tikki chaat so good. But both had same chola (ragda). Surprisingly Punjabi people serving white chola in chola bhatura its suppose to be pindi chola. Again taste is homelike no issue but chola has to be chola not white chana or as we say in India "ragda"

This place is simply Punjab in Leicester! The service is exactly that, a “dhaaba” experience in the UK. Don’t expect top service, top tables etc. Expect a Punjabi cafe experience with proper food. And I mean proper!26 years. That’s 26 years of running the place and nothing has changed! And it shouldn’t either! I visited after 12 years and received the exact same treatment as I did when I last visited. This is all about top end, low cost, QUALITY food with zero add ons. They simply don’t need to do anything else. Yes, you may have to get up and collect your food at the counter from the old man; so what? If this is what you have to do for the end product, trust me, it is so worth it. Establishments like these deserve to thrive and I simply take my hat off to the family who continue to serve the Leicester public.

Authentic punjabi food. Pure vegetarian freshly cooked Punjabi food. Been here countless times and has never disappointed. Mr Singh patiently looked after us 10 adults and 10 kids. All the food was beyond perfection, and very reasonable. We also all ordered takeout to have later in the evening. Can’t wait till our next visit.

Fantastic mouth watering food!!! Our daughter has been studying at De Montfort University for 3yrs now. We have made this restaurant our regular place of eating out whenever we go to visit. She herself has introduced Sardaar to many of her friends. She’s had a fair few takeaways too. The food itself is delicious and piping hot. You can ask for it to be spicy or not. Try their Gol Gapee. If you’ve never had them try them you’ll love them. Ask them how to eat them if you don’t know. The puri and patturee (fried breads) always come lovely and fluffy. We love their Chilli Paneer and Sahi Paneer. Dal makhni goes down very well too as I don’t cook it at home as I’d rather eat it than now how much cream and Ghee went into it. 😋 It’s a very reasonably priced place. The owners are a friendly bunch. Easy parking on side roads. Clean place & no frills place. It’s a great place for us Vegetarians!!!!

After 20 mins of waiting... Parathas were cold...ok warmish...Happen to mention that this was the case only to be told abrubtly that they came straight off the stove...Still arrogantly brushed me aside despite me showing the un-melted butter?Arrogant Stale foodYesterday’s onions...Stay Away......
