Sapporo Teppanyaki - Glasgow in Glasgow City

Really great experience ..lovely tasty food . Didn't like the fact they added on 10% Sur charge . But didn't have to pay it . Left a tip though.

Went to Sapporo to celebrate my daughters birthday and had a great time. We were seated relatively quickly once all our party had arrived. Service was quick for refreshments, and the waitress was patient as we took our time to order from the menu. It was fun watching the chef cook your meal in front of you, and they really put on a show. The atmosphere is added to from the other tables as everyone can be heard laughing and cheering as the chef flicks cooked potato slices for you to catch in your mouth. Looking around the tables, it reminded me of a nest full of chick's with their mouths open as their mother comes back to feed them. Such a laugh. I don't think it's a place to come if you want a quiet romantic meal but if you come in a group you will have a blast. Oh, and the food is delicious.

Great experience for the kids. They loved the entertainment and the flames. Food was good but they forgot to make anything for my wife and kids. We had to call the chef out to cook up more chicken for the kids. My wife’s tofu main came out last after i’d finished most of my main course. The staff were lovely but the kids couldn’t wait that long for their main course. We still enjoyed the night but i cant give 5/5.

It's a good experience to see them cooking your food and they put on a show for you to keep you entertained. Certainly the funnest dinner I've been to. The food was just okay, I don't know if it's because we using an itison voucher/menu, but the food wasn't anything to remember unfortunately.

Cannot fault this place. Service was amazing. The staff where all amazing, so happy and so friendly. Most importantly the food was also amazing. First time at sapporo and will definitely be back. Really good night and great atmosphere.

We eat at Sapporo Teppanyaki Glasgow today with our 1.5 year old son who is allergic to tree nuts. I don't want to go into too much detail but we had an incident due to miscommunication with our server, however, management took ownership of the situation, handled it in our favour which showed us that they value their business as well as their customers. Food was delicious and well presented, staff were friendly, facilities were high end.

Me and my partner went there to celebrate my partner's birthday and it was a great experience. The food was good and the service was also excellent. Definitely a good choice if you want to take your special someone to a fun date.

I was invited here by my friend for iftar and she had a 50% student discount set up. We are both students but only my friend brought her ID with her as it was her invite. The lady (vetta?) said okay, gave us the menus and told us which foods applied for the discount only to give us the bill at the end with 50% applied to one person and not the other. She and said "I thought about it and changed my mind" After we had eaten. At this point we were upset and annoyed at the mistreatment. Please clarify your policy in the beginning 😭 so we could at least go somewhere else with better hospitality. Even the treatment from the door to the table was rude; saying "Show me your student ID" before a hello or a welcome. Is this how you greet people?

Fun experience, the beginning of the meal is interactive but once they have finished cooking you are left alone to eat which I appreciated. I wasn't prepared nor did I enjoy the part where the chef throws potatoes at you and you have to catch them in your mouth. Other than that it was good, I'm just not a very outgoing person in that way. The food was good, especially the starters. The staff were very accommodating and polite, I didnt feel like I was a nuisance to them which is always nice. If you're looking for something different, maybe for a first date, a birthday or just to mix things up in your dinner schedule, this is a cool place to try.

Food is good plus it's good entertainment as well.

The food is very good, at least what we ate, the staff was great and the cooks were very good, the only drawback was the music, I would have liked it to be more in line with the place, but everything else was great! 😘👍

Service a bit lacking good food and entertainment

As usual, great food and service. Only unruly children disturbed the pleasure of consumption. It's a pity that parents can't teach culture and control their hmmm... children.

Food had a really nice flavour and you're paying for the visuals. The chefs are quite funny and the fillet steak with honey and chilli was lovely. The duck a bit tough and bland. They didn't have sushi available the night we were in, but it didn't affect our experience like I thought it would, even though I'd have liked some. It didn't mention this when booking but things happen. It's pretty busy so service isn't great for drinks at all, and there can be a language barrier as the music coming from the hifi by the door is VERY noisy, and sometimes just repeats songs. The loud music kind of put me off as you couldn't hear yourself think let alone talk to anyone else. But overall the flavour of the food was lovely, it was nice watching the show and something a bit different, and it was joyous watching the wonder on the kids at the tables' faces. Not sure it would be somewhere I'd come that often but was enjoyable.

Nice enough meal but staff were not willing to agree that a discretionary service charge was not compulsory. It spoiled the experience.

Absolutely love Saporro, it's an amazing experience on top of amazing food. If you ever get the Itison deal it's an absolute bargain. A great idea for a date night or family meal.

Place is looking quite tired and run down, no lock on the toilet door, toilet rolls just stacked up on the floor etc. The lady cooking for us was amazing, but the rest of the staff were quite irritable and a bit 'annoyed' at being there. Food is fine, all a bit same same and you are really paying for the show, but this place needs to work on its presentation and service to warrant a visit. Overpriced for now.

Was decent, but there was a few little things, no big deal, added a 10% surcharge to the bill however, which is an unappreciated practice.

I would recommend as a fun experience in Glasgow, especially for large groups. The food was tasty, and the communal experience was very enjoyable. The show was a bit vanilla, but is still worth going once for. The staff really give this place the fourth star.

I made a reservation for my son's 4th birthday over a month in advance for a party of 15. Despite arriving early, we were met by a manager who was incredibly rude, though we tried to overlook it for our son's special day. The waiter took 45 minutes to even take our order, and seemed disinterested and uninformed about the menu. After waiting for quite some time, we were informed that there was no lamb left, which could have been communicated earlier. Despite our attempts to address the issues with the manager, we were continuously ignored, and when we finally did speak with her, she was confrontational and physically aggressive. The food itself was disappointing, with greasy and flavorless dishes, and the portions for the kids were minimal. Despite seeing other tables receiving entertaining displays, our party received none of that, despite it being my son's birthday. Upon receiving the bill, we discovered several overcharges, including for the lamb that was never served. We had guests from London and China, and I am still shocked at the abysmal service and rude treatment we received. Even a small gesture, like a performance during cooking, would have helped salvage the experience. Overall, it felt like we were discriminated against. I typically don't leave negative reviews, but I wouldn't want others to endure what we did. Unfortunately, our son's birthday lunch was completely ruined, and even when we asked for the table to be cleared so we could cut the cake, we were left waiting for 30 minutes without any assistance, prompting us to take matters into our own hands and cut the cake at the bar before leaving.

Wow , if you want to end up in A&E with food poisoning definitely visit this place ,cross contamination using same knife to eat chicken fish and red meat chef’s don’t speak any English they give you tons of over cooked rice and potatoes, it took them 1 hour just to take our orders , the old women at the reception needs sacked awful attitude really rude she assaulted my wife and was shouting at her for no reason what so ever rude polish grey haired !! we will be complaining to you’re head office . Absolutely disgusting behaviour from every member of staff , no lack of communication what so ever we were charged almost £300 plus service charge for one of the worst lunch ever !!

Tried out Sapporo after a recommendation from family as a date night with the girlfriend and couldn't recommend the place enough service was fantastic, loved the atmosphere and the food was superb.

I came here for my friend’s birthday and I had a really lovely time. It was fun to see the chef make the food in front of us and the staff were lovely. We had a starter, main and sushi and the food was amazing. (were students so we had 50% off and we each spent from about £20-30). I will definitely be coming back.

Had a Christmas night out here on 23/12/2023 & the service & entertainment was first class. The food was absolutely incredible & would highly recommend giving this a try.

Basic, tasteless and way overpriced food. The live cooking show is alright, although they keep doing exact same thing as when I was there 4 years ago (the second time I ended up being there outwith my decision).

Definitely will go back,, one of our go to in Glasgow. Family friendly and the staff are brilliant. Keeps you entertain while enjoying the meal. A dining experience, it is.

Awesome sushi & awesome spot. Tasty & fresh sushi! The prices can be higher than most sushi-places, but the food and service more than make up for it.

Fantastic place and amazing food. The show was delivered with a fun performance which turned our dinner into experience. Price was very reasonable also, considering what you get for money.

The food is OK, nothing special and quite mediocre. The appeal is the entertainment and the chefs. Overall it's a decent restaurant but very over priced for the quality of food in my opinion. I had tempura prawns and they tasted of nothing, I've had better food at wagamama. Some of the wait staff leave much to be desired.

Was reluctant to go there after reading some bad reviews but I can say I had a good time and the food was great. Place has good aesthetics as well.

I would love to give Sapporo Teppanyaki a higher rating. The entertainment was fantastic and personal. However, for such a high price, I was expecting excellent food, the kind that melts in your mouth. I'm afraid it just wasn't that. The food was mediocre, and its low quality is only accentuated by the high price point.

The food is good and the chef was very nice. Unfortunately the woman served us was very rude and unprofessional she even didn’t bother her self to ask if we need anything or how is the food and sadly they add 10% service charge automatically to your bill.

Group left sitting at the bar for 20 min past booking time. The food was incredibly disappointing and unimaginative and FAR from authentic. Food was so so greasy, and the veg was overdone and tasteless and did not look or taste fresh. It’s not cheap either - £30 for the cheapest 3 course set menu. I felt like a kid that had been taken to McD’s for a birthday treat - it was almost an insult to customers intelligence. 1 star is honestly being generous. You would need to pay me a lot of money to return here.

Group went for a birthday lunch. Clearly this is what a number of people do on a Saturday. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was fantastic. Everyone was very polite, quick, friendly and the chefs were very entertaining. Really enjoyed our dining experience and hope to be back again soon. Thank you.

Could not fault the place, helpful staff and a great dining experience, done it twice now and times it has been amazing. Managed to get an itison deal and even with that the selection was brilliant with a small surcharge for some meats, highly recommended.

This is my 3rd visit at Sapporo Teppanyaki in Glasgow and they never disappoint. Overall a lovely evening with good food and drinks. The ambience of the place is great and so is the experience. It is slightly on the expensive side but totally worth it for special celebrations. We were a group of 8 of which we had one vegetarian request which was very well managed. The staff is friendly and very attentive. I would definitely recommend this place for a unique dining experience.

Great atmosphere, really entertaining and a fun place to go for a group dinner. The only disappointment was the lack of vegetarian main courses. The miso aubergine was way too oily, but everything else was nice and the experience made it worthwhile.

We came on an online deal. So we were given a set menu and quite alot of the choices incurred a supplement. So the choice is very limited. The show cooking was quite good and there was alot of food included in the deal. However, with all the heat and lots of food I started to feel unwell, and later was very sick because of the food. As were my kids. Drinks were very expensive too, and I had to wait 30 minutes to get the waitors attention just for a glass of water. Very expensive, and not a great experience for us.

Only 4 for atmosphere as it wasn't busy when I visited, but I'm sure the atmosphere would be 5 star on a busy night. Staff friendly, helpful and efficient.. can highly recommend.

We had an excellent experience at Sapporo. All staff were friendly and helpful. The skills on show by the chefs were amazing and very entertaining. We were mesmerized and the food they produce is delicious. The quantity and quality of the food was excellent and drinks are reasonably priced. We would highly recommend a visit for a really fun and satisfying meal out.

Wonderful meal,fabulous food, wondeful staff who made are visit even better. We were served by Stravros who was excellent and assisted by Sarah later on who was so helpful and accomodating. Stil top favourite places to eat and back again tomorrow. Love the show and the delicious food. I had brought along a friend who had not been before who absolutely loved it. Fillet steak still a firm favourite. See you soon Sapporo

We keep coming back to celebrate special occasions and for a fun time with friends and family. It has an nviting, elegant, romantic atmosphere.

Tried here for the first time using an itison offer which was pretty good value considering the size of the portions of food. Came midweek and it was reasonably busy. Unfortunately the day we came we weren't able to order the other flavours of sake or even a carafe of the house which was a slight disappointment. The cocktails we had instead were lovely and the food was cooked perfectly in front of us. Would definitely come back with a bigger group in future.

Had a great experience. Food was delicious. Only criticism is it felt like you were eating separate portions of rice, noodle's, stir fry and meat choices...unless you have the patience to sit and wait until all served.

It was an amazing experience. The moves of the chef were funny and great and the food was all prepared excellently. The beef was cooked just right and was extremely soft and tender!

The ambiance is okay. A bit too loud but maybe they are going for a party vibe. The food was not thrilling.

If you’re going for the food, you may be disappointed. If you’re going for the drama of a teppanyaki with loud music and where the ‘show’ is more important than the quality of the food, you may have a good time. We were hoping for good Japanese food, but for us, the sashimi was sliced too large, the sushi rolls were also too large (so fell apart after that first bite) and the main courses were disappointingly bland.

The food was good but expensive. I suppose you partly pay for the experience. The experience can be good or bad depending on who is at your table. Our table was fantastic and family friendly however the table behind us was very loud and hampered our experience a boy given we were out for a family meal

I loved coming here and loved the maki rolls and there was a good selection with prawn sushi but the got rid of a lot of the sushi on the menu sadly won’t be back i wish I could remeber the names of the sushi I picked it was the cooked ones but need To find anew place for date night

Just me and my 12 yo son for a wee treat before starting his senior school. We booked a table online which was quite straightforward. On arrival, it wasn’t particularly busy. Yet we were left standing for over 5 minutes before a young lady attended to us. The young lady wasn’t impolite or rude but looked a bit pxssed off and sounded like that too. We were taken to our seats and thank goodness was served by someone else for our meal! The young chap was very pleasant, proactive with suggestion and very efficient. Food was good. My son had the salmon with teriyaki sauce which he rated 5 star. Mine was duck which was cooked to medium. A bit chewy but tasted good. Had a couple of glasses of wine and it was just shy of £90 for the 2 of us. In my opinion was overpriced but it was nice for a special occasion.

Yum....good sushi, appetizers and entertaining hibachi chef, nice way to spend our last night in Scotland.

We took my daughter here to celebrate passing her exams, we wanted something special and different and boy was this an experience to remember. Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish, staff all welcoming and friendly, very attentive and smiling. The chef and his show cooking were out of this world, lots of interaction with every customer and my kids had the best time ever, totally loved every second watching all the tricks and food being cooked freshly in front of them. The food was all fresh and tasted amazing. Loads to choose from and defo worth every penny. The cocktails were great aswell. Our glasses were never empty, staff were always on hand to ensure we had everything we needed. My daughter also has a nut allergy and everyone was made aware of this and steps taken to ensure she had the best experience while not having to worry about taking an allergic reaction, myself and our family dined with ease enjoying every second. I would highly recommend this place especially if you’re looking for something different, celebrations etc.. we will definitely be back again and can’t wait to try more of the menu. Thank you all so much for a fantastic experience for our wee family.

Visited for a special occasion that was safely ruined by aloof and slow service, and lacklustre food that is nowhere close to authentic. Odd focus on serving potatoes and loads of rice. My tempura came out cold and their system meant my food came out from the kitchen as a pescatarian even though I’ve been to other teppanyaki places that easily accommodate dietary restrictions.

I purchased a voucher through ITISON for my daughter in April of this year. The voucher expired at the end of June, but my mother sadly passed away at the end of May therefore I completely forgot about the voucher. I called Sapporo to ask if I could extend my voucher as I had noticed that they have the same deal running again, but they advised I would need to speak to ITISON, which I did. Wallace at ITISON was completely sympathetic and told me she would contact Sapporo and that she would get them to contact me direct. After a few days I called Sapporo to ask if ITISON had been in contact and they advised no, they had not. I called ITISON and spoke with Rachel who told me that Sapporo had in fact been in contact and refused the extension even after Wallace at ITISON had explained my situation. Shocking customer care from Sapporo....

I got violent horrific gastroenteritis since visiting on Saturday 7th Aug. The cross contamination between food and watching the meat being cooked and seeing the rawness. Horrid. They literally cook the chicken for 5 minutes which isn’t sufficient. The noodles tasted out of date and the staff were unattentive at best. I will never go back! It was horrible and the menu was mediocre at best. Do not recommend and it was £84 for both of us. A very expensive trip to a&e.

Giving 5 stars cause I cannot give 6. Everything about this place was absolutely brilliant, food was delicious, portions were huge, everything was so clean and of course the teppanyaki experience was amazing. God tier restaurant.

Brilliant service and entertainment. The chefs cook in front of you and did some magic tricks etc. they catered for halal making sure the non halal meats were not cooked at the same time as their halal chicken (and fish).

Excellent food, very entertaining to see it all being cooked in front of you ! Attentive staff, clean and tidy too.

food was lovely, staff and entertainment made the night. overpriced and no mention of a 10% service charge until we got home as we left a tip for the staff but there was no need as the service charge was more than generous!

Great atmosphere but slightly crammed in around each grill. Seemed a tad pricey in reality. The food was cooked really well. Just a warning...rice is included, but noodles are an extra which is in small print.

An overall enjoyable experience, staff were friendly.

Was really disappointed in our recent visit. The food used to be really tasty which is now just alright, the chef used to put on a real show with interaction for your whole meal and now it's about 5 minutes then long waits between each item arriving on your plate. The drink prices are really ridiculous tho, £3.50 for a soda water. There's just nothing special about it now unfortunately, amd for the price they charge you will have a much nicer meal in Any of the surrounding restaurants.
