Sapori Italiani in Newry and Mourne

Just brilliant, was there yesterday evening for. Mothers day, been going there for 20 years or so,and the food and service just gets better.Well done.

A must try, one of the best Italian restaurants in Ireland! There were 16 of us and we were all really very satisfied. My husband and I had potato croquettes, an arancino, ravioli and spaghetti with clams... everything was super! The staff is very kind and welcoming! Truly a beautiful discovery! Highly recommended!!

We just happened to pass by and thought we would try it. We loved it so much we've made a booking to go back next month. I had the bruschetta with gamberi, absolutely delicious followed by gamberi, gnocchi and a courgette puree. I cleared my plate!! The pizzas that my family had were also delicious. Sorry no food photos as I was just busy eating!!

Amazing authentic family run Italian restaurant. Staff and food are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. Our favourite restaurant in the whole of Ireland. A must visit for wonderful Italian food.

We went here for my husband’s birthday . It was actually 3 days ago but Saporo is only open from Thursday to Sunday. It was worth the wait. Waiters and waitresses were attentive but not too attentive! We ordered starters of bruschetta and calamari. Both E were delicious and the calamari was hot and crispy. For mains my husband had bolognese which he declared was the best he had ever had. I had one of the specials, risotto with black toasted rice, prawns and clams. Absolutely delicious. John finished with tiramisu - homemade and served in a large glass. My latte was strong and perfect. We were so pleased we had decided to eat here - we have been before but not for a while - we will be back sooner.

Came here for dinner with family ranging from grandparents to babies. The food and wine was excellent 👌 the pizza was brought out early for the hungry children while we waited for our specials which were absolutely delicious. The pizza chef did some fun pizza base stretching in the air for the kids. We've been to Italy a few times and the food was on a parr with what we've eaten there. There is a great atmosphere in the restaurant too and the staff had plenty of character. Will most certainly be back.

Absolutely unreal. I had a ‘chefs special’ pasta with porcini mushrooms and crispy bacon - it was to die for. The range of artisan pizzas, pastas and DESSERTS is insane. Couldn’t recommend the Pana Cotta with caramel any more honestly first time I’ve had a dessert and judged it as 10/10. Pana cotta is the owners own recipe, who himself is a gem that just adds to the places vibe where you feel as if you’re welcomed into a home. Really cool experience that showcases what you’d think Italy is truly like.

Great atmosphere, great food and great service. We shared the gambari in garlic & cream on bread & the Arancini. For mains we had the carbonara, made in the traditional way with no cream and a Diavola pizza. We can’t wait to return and try other things on the menu.

Went for birthday meal with family spent a lot if money starters mains deserts wine etc..me and my sister asked for a bit of extra chilli flakes. The portions were too small and we were charged £6 for a few flakes. I won't be back anytime soon.

Three of us visited Sapporo this evening at 5.30pm. My husbands meal was really good as was my sons also. However my 4 cheese risotto was bland and tasteless compared to others I have eaten. I told the waitress and also the guy when I was paying but was met with complete silence. No apology or expression of concern. I paid the 79 stg bill but I won’t be back. It was not the poor meal that disappointed me but the absence of any apology.

The only reason I’m rating it two stars is because the staff ( waiters & waitresses) were absolutely fantastic, Unfortunately the food was not, if it wasn’t for the staff I would be rating it zero. We had a family meal here, steak was dry, over cooked. Chicken and leak dish was like boiled chicken chucked into a flavourless sauce. Starters some were uncooked ( calamari) but mostly all the food lacked any flavour or quality. There are plenty of good restaurants in Newry, this is not one of them. I couldn’t eat my meal it was so awful. When the manager found out I did not like my meal he said well 100s of others do so, he was very abrupt and rude. Hopefully the staff can get another job in a nice restaurant as I can’t believe he wouldn’t be a nice manager/owner to work for and he definitely needs to go on a customer service course or let the other staff teach him how to be polite and speak to customers.

No matter if you want to have a romantic dinner with your wife or a familiy dinner. The atmosphere is always perfect. The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Food is truly Italian, authentic Italian carbonara, lovely and smooth lasagne and of course their lovely desserts. A total must if you visit Newry.

Food is always excellent! A REAL Italian restaurant! If you doubt between normal pizza and pizza gourmet, take the gourmet one you won't be disappointed!

Three pizzas had way too much cheese and barely detectable other ingredients. Chicken in cream sauce with mushroom had a bone in it and very bitter aftertaste. Very overpriced for mediocre food. Potato skins looked just like fried up peelings. Still I suppose it avoids waste. Will not be back.

We were able to get a table for two without a reservation and received a warm welcome, great service and thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic meal at a very reasonable price. Certainly worth a visit if you are in Newry.

Finally I've found a place that sells risotto un Newry! I tried the seafood risotto and I loved it! Amazing space, amazing food and amazing staff!

Last minute decision to book a table at this restaurant. Best decision we made for a Saturday evening. Sapori Italiani offered authentic Italian food that was cooked to perfection. Additionally, the restaurant is beautifully situated next to the water within Newry City centre. The interior design is also very contemporary with a touch of class. The most notable aspect to our experience here were the extremely friendly staff members. Will definitely be returning here soon to explore more of the menu

Some of the best Italian food that I have had outside of Italy. Pasta was fresh, pizza was tasty and filling. Staff were all very friendly too. Newry is very lucky to have this on its doorstep!

Our first time there, but it was recommended......... Early enough sitting at 7pm, but the place was jammed, it had a great vibe to it. Great authentic Italian cuisine or should I say cucina. Well run, nice atmosphere, great choice of alcohol free drinks as well as wines and spirits and of course tasty coffee. They bake wonderful pizzas and focaccia and cook up delicious pasta dishes. Really is Sapori Italiani.

Best Italian in Ireland by far !!!!! So good we went two days in a row 😂 authentic made from scratch Italian food bursting with flavour and cooked to absolute PERFECTION I really cannot fault the place. The owner and staff are so attentive and welcoming too they really went above and beyond to make it the best experience. Between the two nights we got the lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, carbonara, a special tagliatelle dish with prawns and a courgette sauce, focaccia, tiramisu, profiteroles, a special pistachio cake and sticky toffee pudding and I'm not joking it was all so so delicious. Deffo best bolognese and carbonara I've tasted for miles around.

Had a blast at this restaurant tonight! The food was absolutely fantastic! Cheap and large portions, the starters could've passed for mains! We had garlic bread and some deep fried pasta dish in tomato sauce to start and honestly it was exquisite! For mains we had pizza and pasta and both were nice aswell as the potato skins were lovely. The only thing I'd change is the chips, they weren't anything special pretty bog standard oven chips it seemed like. The staff are very attentive and friendly especially one female waitress I never got her name! Also served by another lovely guy who kept making me laugh because his mask was muffling him. Server was really nice and friendly, honestly a lovely guy (didn't catch his name) When issues were raised an offer was made to replace the food, however not accepted as food was so poor. The owner just listened to complaints but did not take it on board. Boyfriends Carbonara was bland and had hard bits like bone in it. Owner said that it was tendon, tendons are chewy not solid and uncuttable with a knife. My Tagliatelle pollo was bland, there was a piece that was chalky in texture with a horrible aftertaste that the chef insisted was a mushroom however I know that mushrooms are chewy. I was sick shortly after leaving the restaurant due to the horrible food and as I'm writing this my throat is still burning from it. Ate half a portion each to really try find any redeeming qualities in the food but my boyfriend has actually admitted he has had tastier ready meals from supermarkets. Owner asked us at register after all of that was it our first time here and honestly it shouldn't matter if it was our first, fifth or hundredth time, it wasn't good. We were fooled by the good reviews as well as other people who have left bad reviews. All in all it just wasn't a nice experience and we won't be back.

Went for a mid-week family meal We shared a (large) starter of cured meats, crusty bread, cheese, olives and some tomato in vinagrette. Then we each had 'Mama' home made meatballs with sauce and spagetti. A nice bottle of Sicilian red filled in the gaps before I had home-made cheese-cake and ice-cream Italian style. It was on a Tuesday night so we had pleasant un-rushed service.

Had the lunch special here on Saturday. Starter and main for under £7. Was surprosed it was as empty as it was given the quality and authenticity of this italian restaurant. Name means "Tastes of Italy". Calamari fritti on a bed of lettuce for starter and a penna pasta polli et fungi for the mains. Delicious. Nice beer to wash it down. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be back when next in Newry.

Rainy day in Newry, but my lunchtime visit to Sapori Italiani brought sunshine to my meal. This restaurant wasn't very busy this lunchtime which was surprising given the quality of the offering. Had a nice 'amuse bouche' before my starter arrived. This was mushroom wrapped in a pastry and a couple of mini bread sticks which I had with quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My starter was "calamari fritti" on a bed of lettuce with ali oili mayo. Delicious. The "penna pasta pollo & fungi" as the main course was equally delicious. Portion sizes just right for the middle of the day. Qu as lity beer and an americano finished off this lovely repast. The special lunchtime offer of two courses for £6.95 just cannot be beaten. A delightful discovery after a fee visits to Newry over a number of years. As General McArthur said afterthe battle of Batann, ""I'll be back"

Bellow average food! The pizza was dry, tasty wood oven baked base, but nothing special! It’s the second time I’ve been there !
