Sant-Yago in Portsmouth

Absolutely blown away by the food; bread and dips (which were divine) for starter followed by 6 small plates and by god were the portion sizes perfect!! Wine is delicious and I left leaving full! The staff were attentive and helped make the evening a fantastic one! I looked forward to coming back again!!

The food here is some of the best I've had in Portsmouth! This is a seriously under rated restaurant. The cocktails and food are both amazing and I would highly recommend the pig cheeks. 6 tapas between 2 leaves you absolutely stuffed so I don't have to say anything more about the portions ! A must try if you like cocktails and Spanish style tapas .

Great food, we had a party of 9 and the waitress was brilliant in helping us work out the most economical way to order our food without telling us how to do it which was great. Drinks were kept flowing throughout the night and the food was absolutely delicious. The pork cheek was my personal favourite

We needed a venue for a large party of people following a business meeting. We asked if they could do some cocktail classes which they did for us. We had an amazing time. Halina and her team were fantastic. The cocktail making was great fun. The food was amazing and so was teh service and the atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend this as a venue. Great cocktails, great food and a great service. What's more to say!

Really surprised to see such a huge range of naturally gluten free dishes on the menu. There were also a huge amount of dishes that had a gluten free alternative available. Food was really tasty and very reasonably priced for the portion sizes too. They service was really friendly and attentive. Can't believe I didn't realise this existed for great gluten free food, will definitely be going again!

Love the food here! Absolutely gorgeous food. Different from the norm, that goes for drinks too. Also ordered take out from here before, and it is just as divine and serving sizes are good. Welcoming staff

We visited here for a works night out, with a total of 16 people. The food was fantastic, all brought to the table promtly, were never left waiting for drinks or other service. Very friendly staff, and and overall a great experiance.

I cannot understand how this place is 4.7, the food was so bland we didn't eat more than a mouthful of the 6 tapas we order and the ones we did try and eat were average at best. I mentioned this to the waitress and she took them off the bill. After such a complaint I'm surprised the chef didn't make the effort to come out and understand the issues, I guess they don't care. On arrival we stood by the door for ages with no staff In sight, the staff where scruffy and the restaurant felt tired and gruby. Will not be coming back.

Really great food, will come again. Would be nice to have Spanish music rather than UK pop.

Nice laid back atmosphere here and we enjoyed our meal. The waiting staff were attentive and helpful. Could possibly trim the wait time between courses but otherwise no complaints!

Been coming here for many years, always loved coming never had a bad meal, visited start of November was like a different restaurant, food was less than average, staff weren’t particularly friendly, will not be visiting again.

We went with friends, 3 of us had been before. We ordered 4 dishes each couple and a side if fries. All the food was delicious, piping hot & fresh although there was a little wait. The baked cheese was lovely as was the pig cheeks. Was really good to see the restaurant full to the brim with all tables taken. Would go back again and again.

A beautiful and relaxed restaurant with laid back yet attentive serving staff. The food was delicious and the cocktails were excellent. Worth making the trip to Southsea for and would undoubtedly return.

The service was Amazing, Jason was really welcoming and gave outstanding service. The Food was excellent, thanks to Math the Chef who did a brilliant Job, every bite of the food was amazing. I strongly recommend the pigs cheeks and calamari

Sant Yago served up good food and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helped with options available. Quite a small menu but plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans.

Tapas was superb, Spanish mayo excellent, the fries were to die for! Pork scratching starter the best flavour ever.

Always great food and lovely service here - also excellent for coeliac/gluten free diets.

Sant Yago tapas restaurant serves up delicious dishes, featuring a diverse array of flavorful tapas. Unfortunately, the recent update to the decor didn't meet my expectations, lacking the wow factor I had hoped for. Despite that, the quality of the food is definitely a redeeming factor.

Nice atmosphere. Rustic style seating. Pleasant staff. Food was very good and also different from your normal offerings in a tapas restaurant. Food was served in a bit of a disjointed manner and had to be reminded about one dish missing from the table. But it was enjoyed without exception. Some interesting cocktails and some good beers. Started off fairly quiet but soon got very busy and very loud. Not the place for an intimate meal.

Favourite Restaurant, best local independent by far. Food is always amazing! And cocktails are another level, lychee sours my fave! Really lovely atmosphere any day of the week, suitable for intimate and large group events, cannot recommend these guys enough

Easily one of the best cocktail bars in Southsea. Super relaxed, the staff are a great laugh and the food is unreal. If you want somewhere chilled with a strong sense of community, Sant Yago is the choice.

Very lively place, nice atmosphere. Waitress was super friendly and helpful and the food was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The pork belly was the highlight of the meal but all the food was very good. Would come back for sure.

Came here on a busy Friday night, the food was incredible, the best tapas we’ve ever had. Really fast service, delicious cocktails and our waitress (I believe her name was Jamie) was so lovely. All in all a 10/10 experience!

Quick lunchtime meal. Ordered 5 tapas and Greek salad (from the specials). Sadly, only pork cheeks were outstanding, as the rest of the food wasnt to our liking. Greek salad was very sour, and vegetables weren't the best quality. Artichoke bland, sweet potato stack very, very sweet, calamari cut very thin but my little one ate all. On the positive note, the service was great, especially by polish girl(can't remember her name).

Only popped in for a cocktail which was absolutely lovely! The food menu looked great will have to go back and try it!

Came here for a family birthday meal, didn’t get asked for food orders for 40 minutes after booked arrival time, and took another 30 minutes to get to the table only to find bland overspiced food. To top it off a cake we had taken to the restaurant earlier was put in the fridge after we told the staff specifically to NOT put it in the fridge causing the icing to go soggy. Will not be coming here again.

Food was okay, but wine was delicious.

Walked here after a recommendation from the girl at the hotel bar. We chose a great Italian red wine to go with haloumi and Camembert. The restaurant filled up very quickly for a wet Wednesday night in March. The lovely staff even telephoned a taxi for us back to the hotel.

Lovely food as always. The restaurant was very cold. I expected heating on in the middle of January. I asked for the heating to be turned on and was told it would be but it was never turned on. Had to eat with my coat on.

Lovely experience - excellent food, and not your usual tapas selection, so a nice change! Cocktails good, and even have sugar drip absinthe - certainly worth a visit!

Went here for a New Years celebration, absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and drinks. Everything we had was delicious! Our waiter was the friendliest chap and gave great recommendations! Such a lovely vibe will definitely be returning!

Great service and not bad food - good for a large parties and the small tapas dishes add some fun - you need at least 3 dishes per person. So this is not a cheap place.

Amazing place. Started with cocktails in the basement made by Jason who was very polite and helpful, and then upstairs for tapas. The food and drink were perfect. Will be going back again very soon!

Awesome tapas! Went for the early bird offer of bottle of wine and 3 tapas for £30. We had pig cheeks, chicken tacos, cajun chicken and patatas bravas (potatoes and tomato sauce) as an extra portion, yum! Nice peaceful atmosphere, nice music for background and quick service. Great place to go after work or before going to the cinema.

The best Italian pizza ever( this comes from a person who doesn't eat pizza normally!) Definitely will be going back when I'm next in Portsmouth

Brilliant place. Food brilliant , service excellent, decor/ambiance great! Would definitely recommend!

Having eaten at this establishment before as part of large "party" group, I was keen to enjoy a more intimate dinner with the wife here. We enjoyed some wonderful espresso martinis downstairs upon our arrival, with the lovely bar-person being an absolute treat...and a great mixologist! Eventually, we took our window seat and order a selection of mouth-watering food to share. I won't babble too much, but it was a solid 7/10...with only the "meat tacos" being dry and cold upon arrival. It's another solid night out at this pleasant and busy restaurant.

It’s my first time here since 2017 and I wanted to come back from a long time ago. The food tastes as good as it was back in the old days but I remembered it like a more quiet place… nonetheless, great quality-price relation and great attention. I hope to come back soon! :)

Upon arrival with no booking we were welcomed with open arms, even though the place was very busy already the friendly staff managed to get us a table. The level of friendliness only went up and the service by all staff was second to none. The food arrived promptly and we were blown away - it's AMAZING! We went a bit mad and over ordered but still finished it all and had dessert which was also beautiful in presentation and in eating. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and when we visit this area again we will be returning to Sant Yago for definite. Top marks for everything - food, wine, service. 👍

Felt understaffed, but a group of about 20 walked in for cocktails, and they worked hard and were very polite. Food came quickly, but mixed quality. I would go back on a quieter night.. Though it is Wednesday

I'm vegetarian and there was some opinions here for sure. First time I went here was approximately 3 years ago and I would have given it 4 stars and now a 2. The vibes here are great -that buzzing, loud, inviting noise and this has been the same both times. The food the first time was spectacular and so flavoursome. Second time round, I was extremely disappointed. 🤷
