Sanam Tandoori in Falkirk

Absolutely excellent service and food. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting the Falkirk area. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, the food was delicious and the service was absolutely brilliant. I will definitely be back and recommend to all in future. Thank you all for a wonderful evening!

Asked umpteen times for a can of ginger beer & all I got was this narrow glass of ginger beer. Went in again on Saturday 10/2/24 at around 7am. It was very busy & very noisy. We ordered our meal & both of our starter plates came one hot & one cold & mine sat there cooling down for a short time before the mushroom 🍄 pakora came. We ordered the mixed pakora, but they hadn't any so we just had the mushroom ones & with only one dip - some Indian restaurants will provide 2 or 3 dips. Our mushrooms were very good & so was the crispy batter on them. Then came the plates for our main course & once again one hot🔥plate & one warm plate 🍽️ & if you've read my reviews, u will know I like my food on a hot plate. My chicken boona came in it's metal dish but wasn't sizzling hot & Janie's tika chicken jelfrezi came the same way. Now the Indian Cottage on Dumbarton rd in STIRLING served up their food SIZLING hot 🔥 & tasted more spicy & their chicken was more tender, & their mango lassi was in a tall glass & nice & thick BUT the Sanam mango lassi was in a small glass, not thick at all & a bit restless & a bit expensive too at £3.95.

What a great experience, from start to finish. I was visiting Falkirk with my young son, even though the restaurant was clearly full, they made space for us, to saves us having to find somewhere else. The service throughout the meal was first class, each waiter taking time to understand our needs and when asked making recommendations. The food was in the same class as the service and was amazing and all the dishes came out in just in the right amount of time I highly recommend Sanam Tandoori, if you are in the area, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Popped in late on a Monday in January (8.30pm and on my own), was told they were closing soon as it was particularly quiet but they let me in and were very accommodating. The food was amazing and the staff even more so, extremely professional in dress, manner and attentiveness, I travel a lot for work and always order a Tikka Biryani wherever I go, even though this was not on the menu I ordered it anyway, I can tell it’s a good place when they don’t even question this and just get on with it, which they did, and I must say, it was the best I’ve ever had. The owner came to chat to me as my accent was not local and we had a genuinely interesting conversation about the history of his family in the area and the foundation of the business. I can’t recommend this place enough if you visit Falkirk.

I have been getting carry outs for years from there. Mostly good. Got a tandoori main course last night and it was for £14.50 terrible. Two bits of old dry chicken legs with little meat. My wife loved her Masala though. An update. Had a birthday meal there yesterday in the restaurant and it was first class and very well presented

Chilled, spacious, contemporary, well lit restaurant. With a great menu to match! Perfect after a long drive!

My wife and I came to this restaurant tonight for a meal and we must admit the meal was fantastic the staff were also friendly and helpful welcoming we will definitely be going again.

We have been going to Sanam off & on for over 30 years, more recently for the set lunch menu. Over that past time, we have always enjoyed our experience there & never came away hungry. Last night we went for dinner there with friends & our findings were a bit different from the past, the food was of very good quality 9 out of 10, the restaurant ambiance was very good 9 out of 10, but unfortunately the portion size was a bit on the small side! so only 6 out of 10 for portion size. So we will probably not return for the dinner menu but may still return for the set lunch menu.

Nice curry and a nice atmosphere

Vegetable pakora brittle when you cut into it, and dry, lamb kahari no flavour in the lamb they don't marinate it, the sauce no Flavour stood out, all bland, the garlic nan bread sogging in butter dripping all down my hands, no passion went into the food, the service was outstanding, very polite and helpful, when I last rated this place I gave it 5 star ratings,

I very much enjoy this restaurant. However, I've always felt the portions of rice are not adequate for the curries (hence the four star review). That being said, would still highly recommend.

These guys are the best. We take my father on a Saturday for lunch. We went on Saturday without him and they noticed he was missing. He was infact in Hospital. So they gave us a carryout of his favourite meal at no cost to take to him. Amazing. Alex Shannon.

Just one of the best Indian dining experiences I’ve had. Stumbled upon the place by accident.

Had great meals here in the past but ordered a takeaway this evening and it was a bit disappointing. £50 felt steep for what we got. The butter chicken honestly tastes exactly like heinz tomato soup with some chili! It was also chicken tikka meat.So although not unpleasant it was nothing like a butter chicken. My partner's lamb korma was also not like a korma, no coconut flavour. I also found the pakora too cardamom-y but that could be personal preference. The nans were decent but I do think the ones we had eating in in the past were nicer, fresher. Unfortunately probably won't be back.

Stopped in for a late meal with my son. Beautifully decorated and welcoming interior and very friendly staff. Impressive full size bar at one end and nice choice of quite / intimate as well as larger family sized tables. Food was excellent and full of flavour. Service excellent.

As always first class service great value for money and an excellent lunch

Called here on Tuesday evening. It was a good job I arrived when I did because very soon the tables were filled. On speaking to the owner after the meal , he explained that they do at least 100 covers on a weekday . My meal consisted of , 2 poppadoms with onions & chutney. 2 Fantastic Onion Bhaji with side salad. A moist very very flavoursome Chicken Jalfezi with Pilu rice . + 1 Chapati. Washed down with a pint of Cobra. Everything was well presented and tasted spot on . The staff all were a credit to themselves and the restaurant. I highly recommend the SANAM.

This is a great spot for a Curry. Very nice inside. Friendly service. Great food. Reasonable prices.

Disappointing visit. Whole place was smelling of B.O and so was our waiter, not what you’d expect at the beginning of a dinner shift. No atmosphere at all, and felt very awkward. New renovation is beautiful, but seems the charm has gone. I also noticed when I left that at the back of my top there was curry sauce stains all over the back and sides of me. Obviously from a dirty seating area as it did not match what I had eaten. Used to enjoy coming here but after this visit I can safely say I won’t be back. ☹️

We had an excellent family early dinner on Saturday 30/09, food and service was excellent

I have frequented this restaurant for nearly 30 years and since the refurbishment it has changed for the worse. Menu is much smaller with many old favourites gone and the portions are smaller with prices up. How you can justify £6 for a starter with 3 tiny pieces of chicken is beyond me. The quality of food is excellent don't get me wrong but it's no longer the great experience it once was. Overpriced. I won't be back for a while.

Recommended by friends, sign of times, but now expensive

If you want fast food this is the place to be. Used to be amazing in here but it seems to be more focused on the takeaway side now. The menu has been made alot smaller, i'd imagine its to make it easier for the chefs to do the takeaways and restaurant. The tandoori dishes don't come on a hot plate anymore ( first time i've come across that in any indian restaurant). You barely get time for a breath inbetween courses, its like the guys standing behind you with your next course waiting for you to finish. Food still tastes good and they've got draft irn bru but doubt i'll be back.

We went with friends on the August 28th and damn it was so impressive with food the services and all. I was sick with stomach and ordered salted lassi and it was a medicine at that time.Lovely daal, yummy kids meal and the staff was so kind.

Great meal, as always 😋. We were later in the evening, so clientele had dropped off, hence the dropped star.

I am coeliac and asked waiter if the chicken pakora and chicken balti were gluten free which he said were but after 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant I had a severe reaction, obviously food was cross contaminated spoke to manager who reassured me food was gluten free , but is utensils kept separately ,seperste chopping boards, do not eat here if you are celiac as your health is too important obviously they don't think it is

Excellent find in the town centre. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday tea time. Great food.

The food was flawless. The staff prompt and accommodating. The acoustics are dreadful, far too noisy especially as this is a family-friendly, and by that I mean baby-friendly, dining area. We had a table for four and we struggled to follow the conversation. The menu has everything priced separately, which made this a pricier dinner than it needed to be, who orders a lamb bhuna or chicken tikka masala without rice or any other accompanying side?

Spent just over 40 £ for a delicious meal, very friendly service in a nice and modern place. 100% recommendation !

This has to be the best restaurant in Stirlingshire and definitely the best in Falkirk, we go every week for carry out meals. Food is excellent and cooked to our preferred taste as I like myeals extra hot. Service.from the staff is first class and very friendly along woth professional. The brothers are always working hard and always take the time to speak to us.

Nous sommes arrivés sans réservation. Accueil très sympa. Comme il n'y avait pas de place, nous avons fait une commande à l'emporter. Nous avons payé cash, sans reçu. Mais nous avions à peine commencé à attendre qu'une table s'est libérée et nous avons pu nous installer pour manger sur place. Un des responsables nous a alors informés que (logiquement) les prix au restaurant sont légèrement plus élevés qu'à l'emporter et que notre paiement serait bien sûr pris en compte dans la facture finale. Tout s'est très bien passé. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'honnêteté du personnel (nous n'avions aucune preuve de notre paiement cash), sa gentillesse, son professionnalisme. Et nous avons adoré nos plats (chicken tandoori, chicken tikka et vegetables curry)! Plain nans délicieux (un peu trop de fromage sur le cheese nan...). Les portions sont très généreuses. Nous recommandons à 100% !!!

Got a takeaway first time in ages from the Sanam, place used to be great! Garlic chilli prawns were like chewing on a bouncy ball, shell half left on and **** sack left in. Wouldnt reccomend unless you like chewing “ a lot” £50 doon the drain I’ll no be back

Reading the reviews I thought I’d stumbled across a great curry house but was very disappointed in the menu and the food itself. We should’ve listened to our taxi driver going, he didn’t recommend.

We were a family group of eight. We had booked a table for lunch and we were all there by the allotted time. Our table was laid out for us and a friendly guy took all our orders with ease and patience. The starters came quickly and were piping hot and delicious. Our main meals were brought very soon after, perfectly correct and the portions were absolutely right for a lunch. There was little left when we finished - a very good sign of an excellent lunch. It was finished off by ice cream and coffees. Tremendous food and a great venue which impressed us all.

Lovely meal from the lunchtime menu. Plenty to choose from and the helpings are generous. Friendly efficient service.

Chose this restaurant while visiting the area due to good reviews. Customer service was excellent. Butter Chicken was more like Tikka Masala (lot of black pepper in sauce) zero taste of butter. Wife and kids were so disappointed because they love butter chicken. Lamb Karahi meat was tender but sauce was again very disappointing. If you have eaten authentic Karahi it comes with blend sauce, fresh green chillies and ginger on top. This sauce was just normal basic sauce with some raw diced onion and some green peppers. Chicken pakora, Naan bread and Pilao rice were good. Overall as a family we were disappointed with our curries.

Went with a group. I am not a curry lover, however the lamb and garlic was fantastic.

When a place is packed out on a Tuesday night and the menu is kept to o e page then something has to be good. Fantastic food and great friendly service. If you are anywhere near Falkirk you must go!

I asked for a recommendation from friends for decent Indian cuisine in the area, 3 friends recommended Sanam. I ordered a lamb Karahi and it was amazing! The lamb melted in my mouth and the sauce was perfect, it had a bit of kick, but it was perfectly offset by the sweetness of the onion, best I’ve ever tasted. I also ordered a garlic and coriander naan, it may sound weird praising up a naan, but again the best I’ve ever had! You’d have to try it to believe it. I was ordering takeaway but the service was amazing, greeted at the door, and made to feel welcome, and the food arrived quickly considering it’s all freshly prepared, and yiu can tell it’s freshly prepared!

Loyal customer for many years. Food is always excellent. The new decor looks great but just isn't practical. Tables are far too small and it makes it difficult to place all the food down. The new chairs are also very uncomfortable after about 20 minutes with poor back support. It's a shame as the service and food is outstanding.

Absolutely fantastic. Very quick service, which made me think the food was waiting to be served. Couldn't be more wrong. Hot, tasty fresh and just cooked. Depth of flavour immensely satisfying. Not a curry house, definitely an Indian high class restaurant.

Had lamb bhuna although lamb was so tender it lacked the spice . Service was good though , curry just needs the spice it should be

Came for dinner for my sister in laws birthday, hadn’t been in ages decor is spectacular now the owner super attentive and very very welcoming along with the rest of the staff highly recommended. Food is of superb quality the chicken jalfrezi is up there with one of the best I’ve had in a while I’ll deffo be back.

Just returned from a visit to this wonderful restaurant. Our meal was absolutely tremendous and the service we received could not be faulted, made to feel like royalty. Amazing food and staff, great atmosphere and they managed to seat our 6 person group to 1 table by basically reorganising part of the restaurant, I'd give 100 starts of I could, will definitely be back for more

Treated unwell and so we moved out without having anything . When we entered nobody acknowledged us and lots of tables were free . so we settled at one place and then even after waiting and making eye contacts with the waitress wasn’t provided with the menu . Later on we went and said can you please give menu card and so they acknowledged ok. But when a person came with menu card he said “from next time don’t sit without asking “. Its really shameful that even in Scotland someone could behave like this . And so we came out without having anything. My little one was really hungry and we were looking something to give her as soon as possible . But then we had to move out and search for some other place to feed her . #Un respectful# will never recommend anyone with this behaviour . Customers with good food need respect also and if u can just provide food and no respect ultimately u will loose ur customers too.

Haven’t been to the Sanam for a while. Our meal for 6 was disappointing to say the least. Service was shocking - so impolite and unprofessional- arms across my face to place food around the table: ages to supply water: quality of food was poor -veg pakora just chickpea flour and no veg at all (maybe wee bits of onion) - lamb madras - 4 quite small pieces of lamb (very tender): cappuccino was undrinkable (and both left). The place was busy so some must be ok with the restaurant but we will not be. That’s for sure. Sad really as I’ve been an infrequent diner there for about 35 years but as it’s grown it has forgotten how to look after and care for its patrons.

Visited yesterday with family after work. Interior: we liked it. I guess it's different from the last time we visited years ago. Food: Starters: we enjoyed Lamb chops & Planner tikka. Main: naan is good. garlic chilli veg could be avoided, found lots of sugar in it 😜. Limited menu & bit pricey (as compared to other Indian restaurants) resulted in one less star otherwise overall fine for us.

Went there on Tues with my best friend and her daughter, we all enjoyed the meals we ordered, didn't wait long, service was excellent and so was the food, definitely go back there.🙂

Arrived here at 8.30pm on a Friday night after an emergency hospital appointment. No booking and restaurant was very busy, however, staff were lovely and found us a table. Drinks order taken quickly and then food. We sat for a little while then waitress came to apologise for delay in food, which she said was her fault as she hadn't processed it properly. We had been none the wiser, just thinking they were busy. And actually appreciating being able to just dit and chat. What great service though. Food came shortly after and was well worth the short wait we had. Hubby had a garlic chicken tikka dish which came with rice and salad and I had lamb kerahi with mushroom rice. Both declared our meals delicious. Generous portions, neither were finished but we both made a good attempt! We shared a naan bread which was light and fluffy. Surroundings very modern and lovely. Will definitely return next time we are near.

Excellent food, excellent service and a good foody buzz. The only downside I could find was that the parking outside was on street parking and very limited.

Edit: the owner personally phoned me on the back of this review and apologised wholeheartedly. willing to take the wife and give it another try, the food was brilliant. The service in this restaurant was the worst I've experienced. The waiter was rude to 2 of our party while taking the order giving the impression we were putting him out. The bill was put on the table, then the waiter turned up with the card machine whilst we were still eating (we hadn't even asked for the bill). It was my first time here and it will be the last. I'll end on a positive note, the food was very nice.

Have been to this restaurant a few times now and every time it ha been a pleasure. Staff are always polite and friendly and food is great. We had party of 14 which they accommodated, although will say was a bit snug. Plenty of on street parking.

Best Indian in town 5 star treatment.
